Uma investigação sobre o uso de jogos no ensino de números relativos

Esta dissertação apresenta uma experiência de aplicação de sequência de atividades cujo tema central é números relativos, envolvendo uso de jogos. Tal sequência foi aplicada em uma turma do sétimo ano de uma escola particular da cidade de Porto Alegre. A construção da sequência apoiou-se em literatura que afirma que jogos podem propiciar contextos que façam mais sentido aos alunos do que as situações ditas do cotidiano, comumente retratadas em livros didáticos. Buscou-se, por meio dos jogos, constituir contextos que provocassem a necessidade da representação de números de sentidos opostos e das operações com esses números, incluindo situações complexas como a do efeito resultante da retirada de um número negativo. Foram coletados registros da produção dos alunos e das discussões em sala de aula por meio de gravação em áudio, fotografias de cadernos e do quadro-negro, e questionários preenchidos pelos alunos após cada atividade. A análise desses materiais permitiu concluir que os jogos representaram uma sustentação para o pensamento lógico e operatório dos alunos, na construção dos esquemas mobilizados para somar e subtrair números positivos e negativos. / This work presents an experiment of an activity sequence centered on Relative Numbers and involving the use of games. Such sequence was applied in a seventh grade class of a Porto Alegre’s private school. The conception of the sequence was supported by literature that affirms that games can provide contexts that make more sense to the students than the so-called “daily situations” frequently presented in didactic books. It was sought, by the games, to constitute contexts that provoked the need for representation of numbers with opposite signs and the operations with those numbers, including more complex cases, like the result of subtracting a negative number. The data collected includes audio recordings of students’ production and discussions, notebooks and blackboard’s photographs, and questionnaires filled by students after each activity. The analysis of this data allowed me to conclude that games could support the logical and operational thinking of the students in the construction of mobilized schemes to add and subtract positive and negative numbers.

[pt] O objetivo deste trabalho foi estabelecer uma metodologia de síntese de pós nanométricos a submicrônicos de Y2W3O12, como também relacionar as propriedades óticas, térmicas e mecânicas do Al2W3O12 com métodos distintos de sinterização. As partículas de Y2W3O12 foram obtidas pelo método de co-precipitação reversa modificada mantendo pH constante, com o intuito de manter a supersaturação elevada, garantindo alta taxa de nucleação evitando o crescimento indesejável dos núcleos. As metodologias para cristalização empregadas (tratamento hidrotérmico e calcinação) permitiram obter pós submicrônicos de Y2W3O12 (0.3 ̶ 0.5 Mm) com menor grau de aglomeração em relação ao previamente reportado na literatura. O envelhecimento da dispersão de Y2W3O12 revelou diminuição do tamanho médio de aglomerados em 50 por cento quando comparado à distribuição primária de aglomerados precursores. A dispersão utilizando surfactante CTAB reduziu a aglomeração em 50 por cento. O pó de Al2W3O12 foi sinterizado pelo método de spark plasma sintering (SPS) e comparado com Al2W3O12 sinterizado pelo método de três etapas 1. As propriedades óticas e mecânicas foram estudadas, revelando comportamento distinto entre os materiais consolidados por vias diferentes, evidenciando a importância do método de sinterização sobre a microestrutura final e sobre formação de defeitos pontuais. A espectroscopia de refletância difusa revelou que as amostras obtidas por SPS apresentam absorbância total na faixa da luz visível, sendo coerente com sua coloração preta fosca, assim, a energia de banda proibida dessas amostras situa-se abaixo da energia do espectro visível (EGAP menor que 1,7eV). A amostra sinterizada em três etapas, de coloração branca, possui absorbância parcial no UV-Vis, absorvendo todos os comprimentos de onda até 300nm e conforme o comprimento de onda aumenta e adentra na região visível a absorbância diminui e se torna nula. As amostras de SPS apresentaram ganho expressivo no módulo de Young (80 por cento) e dureza (61-116 por cento) quando comparado com o material obtido por sinterização convencional, previamente descrito na literatura 2, 1. As amostras de SPS quando comparadas com a amostra sinterizada em três etapas 1, apresentou módulo de Young 47 por cento maior e aumento de dureza entre 19-59 por cento, embora, ambas apresentem mesma densidade relativa de 96 por cento, sendo as amostras de SPS com microestrutura de grãos nanométricos proporcionando maior resistência mecânica. O CTE das amostras SPS foi medido, sendo similar ao valor encontrado para a amostra em três etapas 2, constatando que o CTE não foi afetado pela intorução dos defeitos pontuais na Al2W3O12 durante SPS. / [en] The aim of this work is to establish a methodology for the synthesis of submicron nanocomposites of Y2W3O12, as well as to relate the properties, optical and mechanical, of Al2W3O12 with different methods of sintering. The Y2W3O12 particles were obtained by the modified reverse co-precipitation method, maintaining a constant pH along the drip, in order to maintain a high super saturation, ensuring a high nucleation rate, avoiding the undesirable growth of the nuclei. As the methodologies for the crystallization used (hydrothermal treatment and calcination) allowed to obtain post-submicron of Y2W3O12 (0.3 - 0.5 Mm) with lower degree of agglomeration in relation to the report published in the literature. The aging of the dispersion was studied and showed a decrease of 50 percent the average size of agglomerates when compared to the primary distribution of precursor agglomerates. A dispersion using CTAB surfactant reduced 50 percent the agglomeration, as verified by characterization techniques. The Al2W3O12 powder was sintered by the Sintering of Spark Plasma method (SPS) and compared with Al2W3O12 sintered by the three-step method (TSS) 1. The optical and mechanics properties were studied, revealing a differentiated behavior between materials consolidated by different paths, evidencing the importance of the sintering method in a final microstructure. Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy showed that the samples obtained by SPS, it is able to absorb the total wavelengths in the visible light range, being consistent with its black matte color, so the energy gap is below the energy of the spectrum visible (EGAP less than 1.7 eV). The conventional (white) sample absorb all wavelengths up to 300 nm and increasing wavelength decreases absorption and renders it zero. The samples by SPS showed significant gain in the Young s modulus (80 percent) and hardness (61-116 percent) when compared to TSS sample 2, 1. The SPS samples when compared to TSS sample [1], the Young s modulus increased 47 percent and the hardness increased 19-59 percent, although both of them obtained 96 percent relative densities. The reason for the improve of mechanical properties of SPS samples is justified by nanosized grain microstructure providing greater mechanical resistance. The CTE of the SPS samples was measured, being similar to the value found for a three-step sample 2, noting that the CTE was not affected by the introduction of defects in Al2W3O12 after SPS.

Titanium dioxide nanomaterials as negative electrodes for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries

Titanium dioxide, TiO₂, materials have received much attention in recent years due to their potential use as intercalation negative electrodes for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The aim of this doctoral work was to synthesise and characterise new titanium dioxide nanomaterials and to investigate their electrochemical behaviour. Three morphologies of TiO₂(B) phase: micro-sized (bulk), nanowires and nanotubes, were synthesised. All three exhibit properties which make them excellent hosts for lithium intercalation. The nanotubes show the best capability of accommodating lithium in the structure, being able to host over one molar equivalent of lithium at low current rates (5 mA g⁻¹). The lithium insertion mechanism in the TiO₂(B) was studied using powder neutron diffraction. In addition, the nature of the irreversible capacity of the nanotubes was studied and ways of reducing it proposed. Nanotubes of another titanium dioxide polymorph, anatase, were synthesised and characterised. Their electrochemical performance was compared with that of commercially available counterparts with different morphologies and particle sizes. The interrelation between particle size/morphology and electrochemical properties has been established. The insertion of lithium which leads to phase variations was studied using in situ Raman microscopy and neutron powder diffraction. It has been demonstrated that doping of the TiO₂(B) nanotubes with vanadium improves their electronic conductivity which is essential for practical applications. Remarkably good electrochemical performance is exhibited by the 6% V-doped TiO₂(B) nanotubes.

As the life style is a very broad subject, the theoretical part was focused on the most important parts that define a life style, namely: values of life, dietary regime, leisure time, and factors that negatively impact the life style. The practical part deals with the research itself whereby, using questionaries examinations, resemblances of life styles were observed among female students of the University of South Bohemia. Data were then analyzed and the conclusion of the thesis was made.

Caractérisation et évolution du mécanisme électrochimique d'électrodes négatives à base d'étain et d'antimoine / Characterization and evolution of electrochemical mechanism of tin- and antimony- based negative electrode materials

Les travaux de ce mémoire s’inscrivent dans la continuité des résultats obtenus par C. Marino sur le matériau de conversion TiSnSb. En effet, les bonnes performances électrochimiques du matériau de conversion TiSnSb vs. lithium sont dues à un mélange intime des espèces en fin de décharge. Les interfaces optimisées entre les alliages lithiés d’antimoine (Li3Sb), d’étain (Li7Sn2) et les nanoparticules de titane facilitent le transfert de charges et assurent la reconstruction du matériau TiSnSb en charge. Dans ce contexte, l’objectif était de savoir s’il était possible de créer un mélange intime d’espèces en fin de décharge, de natures et quantités façonnables, à l’origine d’un mécanisme de conversion efficace. Au travers de nombreux essais, il a été démontré que l’empreinte créée par le composé intermétallique défini dans l’électrode de départ, est la clé de l’efficience de la réaction de conversion à l’origine de bonnes performances, et qu’il est difficile de reproduire ces conditions par d’autres moyens. La synthèse des matériaux s’est alors orientée vers le matériau chimiquement le plus proche de TiSnSb, à savoir le binaire SnSb pour évaluer le rôle du titane. Ce dernier a été complètement investigué comme matériau d’électrode négative, de la synthèse jusqu’au mécanisme électrochimique du premier cycle ainsi que son évolution au cours du cyclage, en mettant en évidence son mécanisme de défaillance, à température ambiante et à 60°C. Une nouvelle méthode de synthèse d’intermétalliques comme matériau d’électrode a été développée en utilisant les micro-ondes. La synthèse se déroule sous air, sans formation d’oxydes et ne prend qu’une minute pour produire un gramme de SnSb. Les performances électrochimiques de SnSb issu de la synthèse par micro-ondes ont été comparées à celles de SnSb préparé par mécanosynthèse.Le mécanisme électrochimique du matériau SnSb peu décrit dans la littérature a été ré-investigué. Pour ce faire et compte tenu de la complexité du mécanisme électrochimique, la DRX et la spectroscopie Mössbauer 119Sn en mode operando ont été réalisées sur SnSb ainsi que la DRX operando sur le mélange Sn+Sb. L’analyse électrochimique de l’alliage SnSb, du mélange Sn+Sb ainsi que de Sb vs. Li a permis de totalement identifier le mécanisme et d’en comprendre la défaillance.La dernière partie de la thèse a été axée sur l’étude du vieillissement du mécanisme électrochimique de SnSb en fonction de la température de cyclage. Cette étude a été réalisée sur des batteries ayant cyclé plus de 6 mois à 60°C et un an à température ambiante (25°C) et a mis en évidence des phénomènes originaux non décrits dans la littérature et toujours en cours d’étude étant donnée leur complexité. / This thesis takes place following on from the results obtained by C. Marino on a conversion type material TiSnSb. The interesting electrochemical performance of TiSnSb vs. Li are due to a close mixture of the lithiated species at the end of the discharge. All the interfaces between lithiated antimony phase (Li3Sb), lithiated tin phase (Li7Sn2) and titanium nanoparticles are optimized, leading to a facilitated charge transfer, which assures the rebuilding of TiSnSb on charge. In this context, the main objective was to try to create same type of mixture at the end of the discharge, with an adjustable nature and amount of elements leading to an effective conversion reaction. Through numerous tests, it was proved that the pristine fingerprint material created by the intermetallic crystalline compound play a key role in the conversion mechanism, which is tricky to reproduce by some other ways.The synthesis was oriented toward SnSb to evaluate the role of titanium in the good performance of TiSnSb. Tin antimony alloy was completely investigated as negative electrode material, from the synthesis to the electrochemical mechanism at 25°C and 60°C at the first cycle and its evolution throughout the cycling. Furthermore, failure mechanism was also identified.A new synthetic route for the intermetallic compounds as electrode active materials was developed by using the microwaves. The synthesis takes place directly under air, without oxide formation in a record time of one minute for 1 gram of SnSb. Electrochemical performance of microwave-SnSb were compared with that of SnSb prepared by mecanosynthesis.The electrochemical mechanism of SnSb, poorly described in the literature was reinvestigated. Considering the complexity of the electrochemical mechanism, operando XRD and 119Sn Mossbauer spectroscopy were both performed on SnSb and on the simple mixture of Sn+Sb. Analysis of galvanostatic measurements of SnSb alloy, Sn+Sb mixture and Sb vs. Li was completed to identify the mechanism and understanding failure mechanism.The last part of the thesis was devoted to the ageing mechanism of SnSb depending on the cycling temperature. The cycling duration was 6 months and one year at 60°C and 25°C respectively. These long cycling highlighted some original phenomena, never described in the literature, which are still under investigation.

We prove that the problem is uniquely solvave for any continuous asymptotic boundary data.

The objective also included the treatment of the behavior utilizing a self-control program. In order to evaluate the behavior, it was implemented indirect functional assessment using interviews and functional assessment direct observation of the participants during different moments throughout their daily routine. In order to control the procedure during the self-control sessions, it was used reversal- replication (ABAB) design, followed by follow-up within 30 days. The results indicated high occurrences of the behavioral deficits and excesses during the baseline phase and significant reductions during the intervention phase, such as gradual weight-loss for both participants. These reductions were maintained during the follow-up. These results demonstrated the importance of functional assessment for the efficiency of the self-control program. Based on these results, it is justified the implement of a self-control program in studies which required behavioral modifications for obese individuals in many classes, including morbid obesity. / O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o controle exercido pelos eventos antecedentes e consequentes dos excessos e déficits comportamentais de duas participantes diagnosticadas com o grau III de obesidade, também descrita como mórbida. Objetivou-se também tratar estes tipos de comportamentos com o uso de um programa de autocontrole. Para avaliar os comportamentos foi empregada a avaliação funcional indireta com o uso de entrevistas e a avaliação funcional direta por meio de observação dos comportamentos das participantes em diferentes momentos de suas rotinas. Para as sessões do autocontrole foi usado o delineamento de reversão-replicação do tipo ABAB, seguido de follow-up de 30 dias. Os resultados apontaram altas ocorrências dos excessos e déficits comportamentais durante a fase de linha de base e importantes reduções destes comportamentos durante a fase de intervenção, bem como a perda de peso gradual de ambas as participantes, reduções estas que se mantiveram no follow-up. Estes resultados demonstram a importância da avaliação funcional para a eficácia do programa de intervenção. Em função destes resultados, justifica-se o emprego de um programa de autocontrole em estudos que exigem mudança comportamental para indivíduos obesos em diversos graus, inclusive a obesidade mórbida.

Etude aérodynamique de ventilateurs axiaux réversibles à performance duale compresseur/turbine élevée / Aerodynamic study of reversible axial fans with high compressor/turbine dual performance

Dans le contexte des avions plus électriques, le potentiel de récupération d'énergie de ventilateurs de refroidissement embarqués est étudié. Ces compresseurs conventionnels, utilisés uniquement au sol, fonctionnent en autorotation libre en vol. Dans cette dernière configuration, appliquer un couple donné sur l'arbre permet de récupérer de l'énergie électrique, le ventilateur fonctionne alors en autorotation chargée (mode turbine). Cependant, ces géométries conventionnelles obtiennent de faibles rendements turbine, causés par des incidences fortement négatives conduisant à des décollements massifs. Il est alors nécessaire de concevoir une machine axiale réversible capable de fonctionner de manière duale en mode compresseur et turbine, avec une performance élevée dans les deux cas. Ce nouveau concept permet de capitaliser l’équipement tout au long de la mission. Dans cette étude, l'adéquation de l'approche quatre-quadrants et du formalisme psi-phi à propos du mode dual de turbomachines est soulignée, au détriment des représentations classiques séparant les performances compresseur et turbine. Une analyse du fonctionnement du mode compresseur à l'autorotation chargée a permis de mettre en évidence les propriétés génériques des écoulements d'autorotation ainsi que ce qui fait la spécificité des machines duales. Les mécanismes de l’écoulement et les paramètres géométriques impactant la performance le long de la ligne de fonctionnement ont également été identifiés. Le concept de machine duale est validé grâce aux grands rendements obtenus en essais. Enfin, une géométrie optimisée est proposée et des recommandations liées au design de machines duales sont données. / In the more electric aircrafts context, the in-flight windmilling operation of conventional onboard axial fans is regarded as a functioning mode that enables energy recovery. Poor turbine efficiencies of classical geometries, due to massive separations, require to design a reversible machine. The latter allows a dual compressor/turbine functioning with high performances in both modes to capitalize the equipment throughout the mission. In this study, the relevance of psi-phi formalism to multi-quadrant approach is underlined. The flow analysis from compressor to load-controlled windmill enables to highlight generic properties of windmilling flows as well as dual machines specificities. The flow mechanisms and geometrical parameters impacting the performances along the operating line are also identified. Finally, an optimized dual machine design is proposed.

Prevalência de fatores associados à ocorrência de acidentes viários no entorno de pontos de parada em corredores de ônibus

Com o crescimento da população em áreas urbanas, o transporte coletivo assume um importante papel nos deslocamentos diários nas cidades brasileiras. No entanto, o grande volume de pessoas no entorno desses sistemas podem resultar em pontos críticos de segurança viária. Recentemente, as pesquisas sobre melhorias na segurança viária estão se direcionando para a investigação da relação entre o ambiente construído - isto é, padrões de uso do solo; desenho urbano; e sistemas de transporte - e acidentalidade. Porém, a relação entre os sistemas de transporte coletivo por ônibus e o ambiente construído ainda é pouco explorada. O ponto mais crítico em segurança identificado na literatura em sistemas de transporte coletivo são as estações de embarque e desembarque. Assim, esta dissertação tem como objetivo verificar a existência de relação entre elementos do ambiente construído com a ocorrência e severidade de acidentes viários no entorno de pontos de parada em sistemas prioritários para ônibus. Para isso, aplicou-se os modelos de regressão Binomial Negativo (NB), na análise de frequência de acidentes, e os modelos Logit Ordenado (OL) e Logit Multinomial (MNL), para a análise de severidade. No modelo de frequência de acidentes totais, identificou-se duas variáveis significativas e, no modelo estimado para atropelamentos, três variáveis. O modelo de severidade resultou em 19 variáveis significativas para acidentes totais e oito variáveis significativas para atropelamentos. As variáveis referentes ao envolvimento de motocicletas, automóveis, presença de interseção e uso diversificado do solo foram as mais recorrentes. O estudo possibilitou também avaliar as diferenças e vantagens entre os modelos ordenados e os não-ordenados. O modelo Logit Multinomial teve ajustes levemente melhores do que o Logit Ordenado. Ressalta-se, entretanto, que o ajuste do modelo não deve ser o único critério a se considerar na escolha de modelos para o estudo de severidade de acidentes. / Public transport has played an important role in daily commutes in Brazilian cities as population grows in urban areas. However, high volumes of pedestrians near those systems may result in critical safety issues. Recent studies on road safety improvements have sought for evidence on the relationship between built environment - land use patterns; urban design; and transportation systems - and traffic safety. Nevertheless, the relationship between traffic safety at bus priority systems and the built environment is still incipient. According to studies, the most critical safety issues related to public transport are the stations for boarding and alighting. Thus, this thesis aims to verify the relationship between built environment and incidence and severity of traffic crashes in the surroundings of bus priority systems. To do so, we applied Negative Binomial regression models (NB) for the frequency analysis, and the Ordered Logit (OL) and Multinomial Logit (MNL) models for severity analysis. NB models resulted in two significant variables for traffic crashes in general and three variables for pedestrian crashes. The severity model resulted in 19 significant variables overall crashes and eight significant variables for pedestrian crashes. Variables related to the involvement of motorcycles, automobiles, intersections and mixed land use were significant in majority of model estimations. The results allowed to evaluate the goodness of fit between ordered and unordered models. MNL had a slightly better adjustments compared to OL. Goodness of fit, however, should not be the only criterion for selecting a model to assess crash severity.
