As we retrieved such controversies that were present since the time Our Home was published, many issues of the magazine Reformador were consulted once it is one of the oldest and most important Spiritist publications in Brazil. In order to demonstrate the relevance of the subject, we also analyzed the controversies within some spiritist groups on Facebook that involve the book Nosso Lar ( Our Home ). This study, when using some of Bruno Latour s ideas about controversies, investigates the actors that enabled, in our view, an original re-elaboration work of Kardecist Spiritism in Brazil. Although Allan Kardec s books are used as the doctrinal basis, their principles were revisited by Bezerra de Menezes and Chico Xavier, whose works were essential in the origin of a Brazilian Spiritism, according to the ideas defended by Sandra Jacqueline Stoll.

This study aims to analyze a set of photographs collected from the collections of families who are residents in the northern region in the city of Londrina, in Paraná; which theme refers to poses depicted at the “Santuário Nacional de Aparecida” in the city of São Paulo (National Sanctuary of Aparecida) between the years of 1940 and 1980. The analysis presented in this research is divided into two stages that complete each other in their closure: in the first stage the research turns to the collection and field search, the cataloging process, orientation and thematic selection from the persistence of the theme as something outside the everyday routine, however, permanent to the collection as a religious tradition of these family groups. In the second stage of the research establishes the development of producing relationships in regards of “Fotografias de Aparecida” (Photografs from Aparecida). Bounded by a historical approach that aims to examine both the networks and the individuals responsible for the construction, and maintenance of the photographic look over the faith space at the Sanctuary of Aparecida in the city of São Paulo. The research is highlighted in its temporality from the concept of photographs as souvenir merchandise or votive economically exploited by itinerant photographers in devotees travelers landmark concentrations, specifically the poses produced at “Praça Nossa Senhora Aparecida” (Our Lady of Aparecida Square). Therefore, we propose a time frame encompassing the golden periods from this practice between the 1940s and the 1980s. Thus, the search turns to compose through the analysis of interviews with Square photographers, owners of images and photographs, and a network which produces memory of the sacred space in this popular religious imagery.

Our Bodies, Our Location: The Politics of Feminist Translation and Reproduction in Post-socialist Serbia

Bogic, Anna January 2017 (has links)
The dissertation studies feminist knowledge production through translation in the context of post-communist Eastern Europe. It focuses on one case study, the Serbian translation of the American feminist health classic Our Bodies, Ourselves (OBOS) through the lens of the politics of translation and reproduction. The translation, Naša tela, mi (NTM), was published by a group of feminist activists from the Autonomous Women’s Centre (AWC) in Belgrade, Serbia in 2001. By focusing on this one case study, my dissertation offers an in-depth analysis of the political, social, linguistic, and feminist dimensions implicated in the transfer of a Western feminist project from one geopolitical location to another, to a post-socialist, post-conflict Eastern European country in the 1990s. Against the background of the Yugoslav wars and the influence of ethno-nationalism in the 1990s, I examine the development of domestic and transnational feminist networking, including the Belgrade feminists’ work with victims of domestic and sexual violence and refugees. I assess the extent to which NTM serves as oppositional discourse to the changing politics of reproduction and pronatalist discourses around abortion and fertility in Serbia in this period. Furthermore, I analyze NTM’s contribution to local feminist knowledge on women’s reproductive health, rights, and sexuality. I emphasize the importance of the local context, including the history of abortion access and traditional gender relations. Methodologically, the dissertation is based on interview data, archival documents, and comparative textual analysis. The dissertation draws attention to feminist knowledge production across uneven geopolitical borders, translation flows across the East-West divide, and the role of English in transnational feminist networking. The dissertation brings together the politics of translation and the politics of reproduction and calls for further studies into the role of translation in transnational feminist patterns of knowledge production.

Hur gestalats kvinnors sociala handlingsutrymme genom karaktären Maria? : Episka perspektiv på Hagar Olsson pjäs S.O.S: save our souls / How is women's social space of action shaped by the character Maria?  : Epic perspectives on Hagar Olsson's play S.O.S: save our souls

Auvinen, Kim January 2020 (has links)
This study explores how the design of women’s social space of action is presented in Hagar Olsson’s play S.O.S: Save our souls (1928). The focus of the study is on the female main character of the play, Maria. The analysis model consists of close reading with the play's melodramatic elements as a starting point. The theoretical framework for the study is the epic theater tradition where Bertolt Brecht has an important influence. The study shows that there is an existing deficiency condition regarding women´s social space of action. This design interprets as a space where women´s happiness and freedom experiences as difficult to access. There is also a critique towards this design through Maria and her actions. The critique is targeted towards long-standing social constructions. However, it should be pointed out that the play takes plays in a bourgeoise environment. Therefore, the design of the space as well as the critique targets towards this environment. The study also shows that Maria´s actions combined with the play opens up for a possible new space where contemporary bourgeoise women allows to act beyond their expectations. This design creates a possibility for women to follow their own way to happiness.

Vägledande värden : En idéanalytisk studie om svenska myndigheters arbete med offentligt etos inom e-förvaltning

Andersson, Rebecka January 2020 (has links)
This paper is based on Lennart Lundquist thesis of the importance of incorporating both democratic and economic values in public administration, what he calls "our public ethos", as economic values have become increasingly important due to the development of New Public Management. The paper aimed to investigate which economic or democratic values could be identified in relation to e-government in an analysis of three Swedish administrative authorities' policy documents. To obtain the purpose of this study, following question was asked: ● Which economic or democratic values can be identified in relation to e-government in a review of the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Police Authority and the Employment Service's policy document? A ideal-type analysis was used as a method, and the measurement point consisted of democratic and economic values in our public ethos. The result turned out to be that both economic and democratic values can be found in the documents. It is arguable that New Public Management has had an impact on all, but its hegemonic position could not be substantiated. The dissertation's analysis section also pointed out that, in addition to emphasizing democratic values, e-government reforms can also strengthen these.

Assessment of a partial nitritation/Anammox system for nitrogen removal

Gut, Luiza January 2006 (has links)
This thesis evaluates the performance of a deammonification system designed as a two-step tech-nology consisting of an initial partial nitritation followed by an Anammox process. Operation of a technical-scale pilot plant at the Himmerfjärden Wastewater Treatment Plant (Grödinge, Swe-den) has been assessed. Oxygen Uptake Rate (OUR) to evaluate the respiration activity of nitrifi-ers in the system and batch tests to assess reaction rates have also been applied in the study. It was found that the total inorganic nitrogen elimination strongly depended on the nitrite-to-ammonium ratio in the influent to the Anammox reactor, which was correlated with the per-formance of the partial nitritation phase. Therefore, a control strategy for oxidation of ammo-nium to nitrite has been proposed. Controlled oxygen supply to the partial nitritation reactor is obligatory to obtain a proper pH drop indicating oxidation of ammonia to nitrite at the adequate ratio. A very high nitrogen removal efficiency (an average of 84%) and stable operation of the system have been reached. Conductivity measurements were also used to monitor the system influent nitrogen load and the nitrogen removal in the Anammox reactor. The data gathered from the operation of the pilot plant enabled the use of multivariate data analysis to model the process behaviour and the assessment of the covariances between the process parameters. The options for full-scale implementation of the Anammox systems have been proposed as a result of the study. / QC 20101115
