Integral human development in its multiple dimensions is fundamental for consolidating human formation. As part of various aspects that constitute the formation of the human being, we highlight the diversity of relations interspersed with emotions dynamics. In order to experience emotions in a constructive way, it is necessary a path that provides human beings with some intimacy about the meaning of emotions themselves as well as the meaning of the rising of emotions in the constitution of human nature, besides what provokes certain reactions, behaviors, and emotional patterns, and, how those patterns reflect in the way someone acts in the world. Considering this perspective, such path can be configured as a genuine self-knowledge exercise which may lead the human being to discover what emotions are, their various forms and, above all, understand how they function. This movement contributes to a process of human formation. We believe that the role of emotions and relations is the basis for this formative-educational path given the fact that being attentive to the rising of emotions and think of what to do is an essential care for human development. Therefore, educational institutions may be able to foster opportunities to human formation initiatives as the one proposed by the curriculum named “Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies” (PATHS), developed by Kusché and Greenberg (1994), which turns social and emotional learning into a practical possibility that leads to human formation. PATHS is scientifically corroborated by several countries and it was published in Brazil since 2012. Having this emotional education material available in Portuguese, we were incited by the desire to research its implementation in a Brazilian context. We did our investigation in the Beneficent Association of Allianz Group Employees located in eastern São Paulo capital. In that occasion, during two academic years, we accompanied and analyzed the implementation process of an intervention inspired by on the curriculum PATHS, as well as tested the development of relational and emotional learning focused on Elementary School Children by comparing research and control groups. For this research, we also considered the impact of teaching emotions/relations in the pedagogical practices of researched educators. In order to test this intervention process, we used the following research instruments: in-depth interviews and a questionnaire including an attitude scale. Despite the fact that quantitative test results did not statistically elucidate the contribution of the PATHS curriculum to the development of Self-control, Emotional Awareness, Self-esteem, Relationships and Problem Solving – categories which constitute, among others, the development of emotions and human relations, research findings showed that there were positive changes in subjects’ pedagogical practices. According to them, the PATHS curriculum inspired a kind of experience which provided the underpinning for a proficuous emotional and relational development process that can be consolidated throughout children’s human formation

Teira Muñiz, Ismael 20 November 2023 (has links)
[EN] This research addresses the current interest in the concept of the path through the study of a series of contemporary artistic practices, giving special importance to the desire paths. It proposes a journey divided into three parts, starting with an examination of the contexts for the walker, both from a theoretical and historical perspective and from the analysis of the physical spaces where walking practices take place, emphasizing those where it is possible to create a path, understanding the landscape more in relation to the mobile experience of the journey than as an image (López Silvestre, 2008). Other places that are also explored include the metropolis, the garden, or the road. This study encompasses a broad panorama based on selected contemporary artworks from various international exhibitions, with a focus on those held in Spain. The itinerary begins with the most elementary trace - the footprint - to explore different morphologies of the path in contemporary art from the late 1960s to the present, such as footpaths, stairs, labyrinths, corridors, walkways, platforms, and bridges, as well as the journey on the plane, textworks, and audiowalks, or the poetics of the journey's end, among others. The last part of the thesis is exclusively dedicated to the phenomenon of desire paths, approached both through recent publications on the subject (Shuey, 2021; Coutts et al., 2019; Foster and Newell, 2019; Schorr, 2019, Jarosz, 2019) and through artistic practice itself. This research confirms that the mobile question of being on the path - in itinere - is crucial for interpreting a wide range of contemporary artworks, formally related to Richard Long's A Line Made by Walking (1967), a key piece in the development of conceptual art, demonstrating that the experiential journey constitutes one of the central axes of artistic production since the late 20th century. / Teira Muñiz, I. Time-Optimal Guidance for Impact Angle Constrained Interception of Moving Targets

Akhil, G January 2017 (has links) (PDF)
Various unmanned missions deploy vehicles such as missiles, torpedoes, ground robots, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Guidance strategies for these vehicles aim to intercept a target point and satisfy additional objectives such as specifications on impact angle and interception time. Certain impact angles are crucial for a greater warhead effectiveness, and minimizing the interception time is important for vehicles with limited endurance time and for reducing the probability of detection. This thesis considers the time-optimal impact angle constrained guidance problem for interception of moving targets. In the first part of the thesis, a Dubins paths–based guidance methodology for minimum-time lateral interception of a moving and non-maneuvering target is designed. The existence and the time-optimality of the paths are established for impact angle constrained interception of moving targets. The capture regions are analyzed and a classification of the initial geometries is developed for deducing the time-optimal path type. The corresponding guidance command for optimal interception can be generated from the information of initial engagement geometry and target’s speed. In the next part of the thesis, the concept of equivalent virtual target is introduced to address the problem of impact along a general direction. An algorithm is developed to obtain the optimal interception point for generalized interception scenarios. A proof of convergence is presented for the proposed algorithm. Achieving different impact angles, the interceptor often takes sharp turns. Following such curved trajectories, the interceptor may fail to keep the target inside the seeker field-of-view. In the next part of the thesis, the field-of-view characteristics of the proposed optimal guidance strategies are analyzed. Closed-form expressions are derived for the interceptor’s look-angle to the target. Satisfying field-of-view condition at endpoints of the path segments that constitute the optimal path is proven to guarantee target motion inside the field-of-view throughout the engagement. The stationary target case is also analyzed as a specific scenario. The last part of the thesis presents a method to extend the proposed guidance strategies to maneuvering target scenarios.

Developing career paths with emphasis on technical professionals of the selected company / Developing career paths with emphasis on technical professionals of the selected company

Málková, Markéta January 2016 (has links)
The main objective of the thesis is to explain and advocate the topic of career paths and construct career paths for technical professionals of the selected company. The thesis then has several secondary objectives. This thesis is divided into two parts. The first part provides a theoretical framework for career paths in terms of getting into the topic of career paths and explaining the purpose, and furthermore, provides a guide for career path framework construction. The second, practical part focuses on the selected technological company that wishes to remain anonymous. Based on the theory and partially extracted from the interviews with the company experts, the career paths framework for technical professionals is constructed. To ensure that the framework is valuable for the company, feedback for the proposed framework is gathered and implemented in the thesis.

Reducing Curvature in Complex Tool Paths by Deviating from CAM-Produced Tool Paths Within a Tolerance Band

Naseath, George Benjamin 12 December 2007 (has links) (PDF)
This thesis develops an algorithm to decrease high-curvature sections in tool paths for complex parts to achieve shorter machining times resulting in higher production rates. In the research sample cases, the algorithm decreased machining times by 1% to 9% for design-induced sections of high curvature and by 16% to 75% for CAM induced ripples using high path tolerances. High-curvature sections in tool paths are caused by complex part geometry, noise, and discontinuities in the model. The curvature is decreased by deviating the tool path within an allowable path tolerance. The feedrate along the tool path is directly related to the curvature of the tool path. High-curvature sections cause the NC machine to reduce the feedrate along the tool path due to acceleration and jerk limits. These lower feedrates increase machining time and slow production rates. This new algorithm decreases curvature, which increases feedrates and decreases machining times, thereby increasing production rates for manufacturing companies. The tool paths are represented by cubic B-splines. The algorithm is based on the basic principle that the curvature of a B-spline directly relates to the geometry of its control polygon. If the control polygon's geometry has many tight corners then the B-spline will have high curvature. If the control polygon's geometry is a straight line then the B-spline will be a straight line with zero curvature. The algorithm deviates the control polygon's points so that they move towards forming a straight line. The control polygon will rarely form a straight line because the spline is limited by the path tolerance. However, as the control polygon moves towards forming a straight line, the curvature decreases, which allows the feedrate to increase. Six sample cases are explored in which the machining time is decreased. Three of the cases are tool paths that contain curvature sections with a range of unnecessary curvature from low to high. One sample is the tool path for the complex geometry in a snow tire mold. Another sample tool path contains ripples caused by noise in the CAD model. The last tool path contains ripples caused by tangency discontinuities in the CAD model. The percent of time saved directly relates to the severity of the curvature in the part. This thesis provides a quick and efficient means to reduce curvature in complex parts, resulting in decreased machining times and increased production rates.

The signature of a rough path : uniqueness

Geng, Xi January 2015 (has links)
The main contribution of the present thesis is in two aspects. The first one, which is the heart of the thesis, is to explore the fundamental relation between rough paths and their signatures. Our main goal is to give a geometric characterization of the kernel of the signature map in different situations. In Chapter Two, we start by establishing a general fact that a continuous Jordan curve on a Riemannian manifold can be arbitrarily well approximated by piecewise minimizing geodesic interpolations which are again Jordan. This result enables us to prove a generalized version of Green’s theorem for planar Jordan curves with finite p-variation 1 ≤ p < 2, and to prove that two such Jordan curves have the same signature if and only if they are equal up to reparametrization. In Chapter Three, we investigate the problem for general weakly geometric rough paths. In particular, we show that a weakly geometric rough path has trivial signature if and only if it is tree-like in the sense we will define later on. In Chapter Four, we study the problem in the probabilistic setting. In particular, we show that for a class of stochastic processes, with probability one the sample paths are determined by their signatures up to reparametrization. A fundamental example is Gaussian processes including fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H > 1/4, the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process and the Brownian bridge. The second one is an application of rough path theory to the study of nonlinear diffusions on manifolds under the framework of nonlinear expectations. In Chapter Five, we begin by studying the geometric rough path nature of G-Brownian motion. This enables us to introduce rough differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion from a pathwise point of view. Next we establish the fundamental relation between rough (pathwise theory) and stochastic (L2-theory) differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion. This is a crucial point of understanding nonlinear diffusions and their generating heat flows on manifolds from an intrinsic point of view. Finally, from the pathwise point of view we construct G-Brownian motion on a compact Riemannian manifold and establish its generating heat flow for a class of G-functions under orthogonal invariance. As an independent interest, we also develop the Euler-Maruyama scheme for stochastic differential equations driven by G-Brownian motion.

Les étudiants en situation de handicap entre l'amont et l'aval : parcours d'accès, expériences, et perspectives professionnelles / Students with disabilities between upstream and downstream : access pathway, experiences, and professional perspectives

Vérétout, Antoine 15 February 2019 (has links)
From the finding of the increase of disabled students in the higher education, this thesis develops two main axes. Firstly, it examines the extent, nature and characteristics of this higher education’s democratization. In a second time, it strives to grasp the several forms of student experience and carrer prospects found out from the exploitation of different surveys. Systematically, the situations and trajectories of the disabled students have been compared to those of their valid counterparts, but also according to the kind of disability. Finally, several conclusions have been drawn. First, the kind of democratization observed is mainly a segregated one : it diffracts situations according to studies and courses followed. Moreover, it causes an important drop out. Secondly, whatever the subject is (connexion to the studies, academic integration, success, sociability), the differences of experiences recorded between disabled and valid students are more in terms of degree than nature. Finally, the student experience is often linked to positive perceptions of the future and to a clear improving of the occupational integration ; in other words, the graduation « pays ». However, the comparative advantages obtained stay lesser than those benefiting to valid students. This double movement (improvement of the situations but persistence of inequalities) often leads to a sense of frustration.

Avaliação dos sistemas cicloviários de três cidades do interior do estado de São Paulo / Evaluation of cycling systems in three cities in the state of São Paulo

Velázquez, Fernando Luis 09 May 2014 (has links)
This research investigates the reasons for the increased use of cycling system in the city of Rio Claro in relation to Araraquara and São Carlos, and discover the main reasons for the low demand of users in bicycle tracks and lanes of the cities of Araraquara and São Carlos. This goal also aims to understand why the use or not of the installation to bicycle traffic. This goal is important to obtain information that may help in the planning and implementation of bicycle paths and lanes project in Brazilian cities. An individual evaluation of existing cycling segments (bike paths and lanes) in the three cities subject of the study and an overall assessment of cycling system of them, highlighting the comparison of quantitative data performed. The far greater use of the bicycle modal in Rio Claro is due to the following main factors: preponderance of routes with low slope in most of the urban area, poor quality of public transport in recent decades, lower average incomes and greater influence of culture European (German and Italian) in the colonization of the city- countries that have great tradition in bicycle use. The main factors inhibiting the use of bicycle modal in São Carlos are: topography (largely urban area routes have steep ramps), higher level of socioeconomic development and lack of tradition/culture of cycling. In Araraquara, are: better quality of public transport in recent decades, higher socioeconomic level of development and lack of tradition/culture of cycling. Are still discussed the following relevant points: types of cycling segments x populations point of view, impact of bicycles in traffic flow and safety on bicycle use.

Implementação de rotinas computacionais para o cálculo de trajetórias geodésicas no processo de filament winding / Computational routines for the calculation of geodesic paths in filament winding process

Gomes, Edgar dos Santos 18 May 2009 (has links)
Composite materials are well known by the high strength and low weight, superior performance, resistance to the corrosion and low density. The production of a composite material part involves some processes with different requirements. The filament winding process is an automated process in which continuous reinforcement fibers are lay down in prescribed paths on the surface of a mandrel, which is generally removed after the cure of the resin. In such a way, it is fundamental that the designer uses computational resources for the calculation of the paths and sequence of the fibers. In this work is developed the mathematical procedures for calculation of geodesic trajectories in the Filament Winding process and implements them in a computational environment in high level language Java, considering the circumferential, helical and polar strategies. Two case studies are developed successfully: conical pipes and pressure vessels, and the results presented and discussed, validating the procedures and implemented environment.
