Magister Administrationis - MAdmin / The study aims to investigate whether delays occur within the pipeline of pension pay-outs, where these delays occur and what the policy implementations and management gaps are within the pension administration system. The study intends to produce findings that assist in reducing the aforementioned delays and increasing efficiency. The specific objectives of the study are threefold. Firstly, the study intends to outline the Government Pension Administration Agency’s (GPAA) current policy and pipeline of procedures with specific reference to pension pay-out times. Secondly, it will identify pension pay-out delays and trends with reference to categories and periods of delay. Finally, it will identify the major areas of complaints, pipeline problems and constraints. The methodology used is both a qualitative document analysis (QDA) and a descriptive analysis of the data. It is appropriate, suitable, cost-effective and common for desktop research. The corroboration of findings and confluence of evidence give credibility and thus triangulation of information is of immense value. The limitation of methodology, findings and results is specific to the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) which is the largest employer in the Western Cape Province. This study found that the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) and the GPAA adopted New Public Management (NPM) values and strategies. Furthermore, pension pay-outs exceeding 60 days have been reduced when compared to the period prior to modernisation in 2010. Despite this, delays in payment remain very high. Internal sources include the GEPF Benefits Admin Committee; email and / or telephonic portals (GEPF Call Centre – reactive). External sources include the Public Protector and the Presidential hotline. Finally, total interest paid on late payments in 2010 was R1,054 billion and increased to R1,901 billion by 2017. The implication of these findings is expected to be further reductions in waiting times, as modernisation of the organisation continues. However, this cannot be a foregone conclusion because it will depend on the management of implementation.

Att åldras handlar om att genomgå olika transaktioner i livet vilket innebär att roller tillkommer under livscykeln. Kroppen åldras i samklang med hur individen rör sig genom tid och rum. Alkoholen kan vara en del i människans liv vilket kan innebära att transaktioner kan förändra inställningen och relationen till alkohol. Det socialpedagogiska samtalet kan vara ett sätt att uppmärksamma alkoholens inverkan på äldre individer i transaktion från arbete till pension. Syftet med studien var att få en djupare förståelse om vad ålderspensionärer har för relation och inställning till gemenskaper, rolltransaktioner och alkoholkonsumtion. Frågeställningar var vilken betydelse har gemenskaper för ålderspensionärer i samband med rolltransaktioner, vad har gemenskaper för betydelser i relation till det egna åldrandet, hur beskriver ålderspensionärer sin inställning och relation till den egna alkoholkonsumtionen. Åtta personer intervjuades i studien med två olika nationaliteter vilka alla definierade sig som pensionärer. Kvalitativ metod användes i form av semi-strukturerade intervjuer. Analysen av materialet gjordes med hjälp av tematisk analys. De teorier som användes var rollteorier och gemenskapsbegreppet. Resultat visade att det var av vikt att känna sig delaktig i samhället och ha en känsla av att ingå i en gemenskap. Vidare visade det sig att alkohol inte ansågs vara en viktig faktor hos deltagarna men att det var en naturlig del i vardagen och livet. Att uppleva det egna agentskapet som pensionär med en känsla av frihet var viktigt. Delaktigheten i gemenskaper får deltagarna att uppleva sig vara del av ett större sammanhang och inte bli definierad utifrån normer i samhället om vad äldre bör och inte bör göra. Pension innebär förändringar livet vilket innebär nya roller och ändrade relationer till alkoholkonsumtion.

This diploma thesis contains the technological project of a pension located in Karlovice and is focused on construction as a whole, as well as on logistics of single work procedures and possible risks related to the construction itself.

The diploma thesis deals with a work out project documentation of wellness pension. The new building is located in the cadastral area of Moravské Budějovice. Object will be used as a accommodation with an opportunity for hosts using a wellness. The accomondation is in the second and the third floor. Wellness is in the first floor. There are 14 parking lots for cars. The first part of roof is designed as a vegetation flat roof. The second part of roof is designed as a hip roof. The objekt is based on concrete foundation strips. The vertical load-bearing constructions are made of ceramics bricks. The ceillings and stairs are made of reinforced concrete.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the Swedish sustainable and responsible investment (SRI) market focusing on pension and life insurance companies. The purpose is to understand how the companies work with SRI and if there is a process in place to follow-up the investments and their possible impact. In the thesis a qualitative research method is conducted as the purpose is to understand the behaviour of the different companies relating to SRI. The empirical study consists of interviews with representatives from larger companies in the pension and life insurance space focusing on how they conduct their SRI work. The finding in this paper is that there are similarities regarding SRI strategies in place however the type of insurance being offered affects how they work. This thesis found that all companies follow-up their investments to ensure that they are sustainable. Further the process of measuring the impact of SRI is very much still in its early stage but there are initiatives taken to measure both soft and hard measurements. The future of the SRI market seems to be moving towards more transparency, both from possible legislation as well as initiatives. The other key area of focus when looking to the future of SRI in Sweden, is the sustainable development goals created by the UN.

The financial crisis in 2008 was a source for asset managers to find new, different assets to optimize their portfolios. During the last couple of years the pension funds have slowly started to further invest in alternative assets, such as real estate assets. Still, these investments in alternative assets only represent a small part of the total capital of the pension funds. This study examines the investment strategies that the Swedish National pension funds are using. The purpose is to find out why they don’t invest more in real estate. The Swedish National pension funds are regulated through Swedish law with investment rules that regulate the allocation of capital. However there is no specific investment rule regarding real estate investments. The other investment rules limits the Swedish National pension funds to invest more in real estate. Nevertheless the result of this study shows how the Swedish National pension funds are positive to increase investments in real estate. The conclusion of this study pinpoints that the Swedish National pension funds investment rules should be investigated and changed. Done correctly, this change could lead to more investment in real estate in the future by the Swedish National pension funds. / Finanskrisen 2008 gav upphov till fondförvaltare att hitta nya tillgångar att investera i för att optimera sina portföljer. Pensionsfonder har i och med detta långsamt börjat öka sina investeringar i alternativa tillgångar som till exempel fastigheter under de senaste åren. Fortfarande utgör dessa investeringar i fastigheter en liten procentandel av pensionsfondernas totala kapital. Denna studie undersöker investeringsstrategierna som de svenska allmänna pensionsfonderna använder sig av och syftet med studien är att ta reda på de bakomliggande faktorerna till varför de inte investerar mer i fastigheter. Eftersom AP-fonderna är statligt ägda har de placeringsregler som reglerar hur AP-fonderna ska allokera sitt kapital. Dock finns det ingen specifik regel gällande fastighetsinvesteringar men de andra reglerna medför att AP-fonderna inte kan investera så mycket i fastigheter. Resultatet från denna studie visar ändå tydligt att AP-fonderna ser positivt på ökad allokering i fastigheter. Slutsatsen med studien är att placeringsreglerna borde kollas över och att vissa av reglerna borde ändras då det skulle kunna leda att AP-fonderna i framtiden skulle kunna investera mer i fastigheter.

This study had two basic objectives. The first was to determine the stock market reactions to the pension policy deliberations. The second was to further our understanding of the significance of the FASB's due process. The author selected 13 critical events that preceded passage of SFAS No. 87 and designed a quasi experiment to examine the stock market reaction around the above events. Two portfolios were constructed to test the hypotheses. The first portfolio consisted of firms in the experimental group (firms sponsoring a defined benefit pension plan) and the second portfolio consisted of firms in the control group (firms sponsoring a defined contribution pension plan). The two portfolios were matched on the basis of SIC code, debt to equity ratio and assets.

Inledning och bakgrund: Pensioneringen kan vara en omvälvande livsomställning som äldre personer genomgår och hur övergången till pensionen ser ut varierar. Den kan ses likt befrielse medan andra upplever problematiska konsekvenser för aktivitetsidentiteten. Syfte: Att kartlägga och beskriva pensioneringens betydelse för aktivitetsidentiteten hos äldre personer i övergången till pension. Metod: Studiedesignen var en scoping review. Datainsamlingen genomfördes via de akademiska databaserna CINAHL, PsycINFO och Medline samt databaserna OAlster och Google Scholar för grå litteratur. Komplementära metoder har använts i form av manuella sökningar. Resultat: 17 artiklar inkluderades. Åldern på deltagare varierade mellan 39–99 år vilket medförde en risk att inkludera felaktig målgrupp för examensarbetets syfte. Resultatet fokuserar däremot på äldre personer som befann sig i övergången till pension och framställdes genom tematiska kategorier och underkategorier. Fem kategorier: Görandets betydelse, Betydelsen av vanor och rutiner i livet, Betydelsen av roller i vardagen, Personlighetens betydelse och Betydelsen av omgivningens normer samt åtta underkategorier skapades. Slutsats: Aktivitetsidentiteten kan förändras i övergången till pensionen där olika faktorer influerar. Resultatet kan bidra med nytta för klienter, arbetsterapeuter samt övriga professioner men vidare forskning krävs för ökad förståelse om äldre personers unika upplevelser av pensioneringens betydelse för aktivitetsidentiteten. / Introduction and background: The process of retirement can be an overwhelming lifechanging moment of the elderly, how they experience the transition to retirement may vary. Retirement can be seemed like a relief, while other experience problematic consequences in relation to the occupational identity. Aim: To chart and describe the meaning of retirement in relation to the occupational identity for the elderly. Method: The study design was a scoping review. The data collection was completed through the academical databases CINAHL, PsycINFO and Medline, and further through the databases OAlster and Google Scholar for grey literature. Complementary methods like manual searching were also used. Results: The total amount of collected articles were 17. The participants were between 39-99 years old, which could impose a risk of including the wrong target group in the essay. On the other hand, the results focused on older people in the transition to retirement and were presented by thematical categories and subcategories. Five categories: The meaning of occupation, The meaning of habits and routines, The meaning of roles in the daily life, The meaning of personality and The meaning of norms in the society later divided in eight subcategories. Conclusions: The occupational identity may change in the transition to retirement, where varied factors can influence. The results can contribute and benefit clients, occupational therapists, and other professions; however, it requires further research for an increased understanding about the elderly´s unique experiences of the meaning of retirement in relation to their occupational identity.

Demografiska förändringar har gjort att försörjningsbördan de senaste 60 åren ökat kraftigt. År 2031 beräknas 410 000 individer saknas inom välfärdsyrken i Sverige. Samhälleliga insatser har införts, medbland annat höjd pensionsålder, dock krävs insatser på organisatoriskt plan. HR-rutiner som implementeras kan påverka normen om lämplig pensionsålder. Således var syftet med studien att undersöka vilka åtgärder arbetsgivare vidtog i en organisation inom sektorn för vård och omsorg i ändamål att möjliggöra förlängda arbetsliv för sina medarbetare. Intentionen var att identifiera styrkor och svagheter i åtgärdsarbetet vilket skulle öka förståelsen för vad som behövde göras för att individer skulle besluta sig för pensionsavgångar senare i livet. Via två teoretiska modeller samt forskning på området, söktes förklaringar som korrelerar med de empiriska resultaten i studien. Kvalitativ metod användes och sju semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med individer anställda på olika nivåer inom en kommun. Dessa analyserades sedan iterativt och tematiskt. Resultaten visade att det fanns en medvetenhet kring de demografiska förändringar samhället står inför och de svårigheter dessa medför. Det efterlystes ett åtgärdsarbete för att möjliggöra förlängda arbetsliv. Respondenterna lyfte också vikten av att värna om kompetensen som finns i organisationen och beskrev också svårigheterna i att genomföra åtgärder. I diskussion och slutsats har de teoretiska modeller som presenterats i studien ställts mot varandra och det har gjorts gällande att dessa bör användas simultant i ett framtida systematiskt arbete. Studien har visat att det fanns stora begränsningar och uppmuntran till förbättring kring åtgärdsarbetet. Vidare har de styrkor och svagheter som presenterats i förhållande till studiens syfte visat sig bli en viktig del i detta arbete.
