O efeito da carbonização de carcaças suínas do tempo de decomposição, na atratividade e diversidade de artrópodes de interesse forense / The effect of carbonization time on pig carcasses in thedecomposition time, attractiveness, abundance and diversity of arthropods of forensic interest

Proêncio, Vanessa Minhoto, 1980- 08 May 2011 (has links)
Orientador: Arício Xavier Linhares / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Biologia / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-18T21:53:49Z (GMT). Este estudo mostra a importância da causa mortis, dos fatores abióticos, do tempo de decomposição e da entomofauna para o auxílio na estimativa do IPM / Abstract: To estimate the postmortem interval (PMI) and to determine the probable cause of death in forensic science several techniques can be used, such as the assessment of the stage of decomposition of a body. These stages may be affected by extrinsic factors such as meteorological conditions (temperature and humidity) and injuries on the body, and by intrinsic factors related to physiological and metabolic conditions of the body, and also by the circumstances of death. In addition, the study of the cadaveric arthropod fauna as well as its successional pattern may help to estimate the PMI and to determine the cause of death. The aim of this study was to assess: 1) the influence of carbonization in the carcass decomposition process; 2) the attractiveness exerted by the burned carcass to necrophagous insects, and 3) the successional pattern of necrophagous insects in the carcasses. Four pig (Sus scrofa L.), carcasses were used in the experiments: two in the hot and humid period of the year (summer) and two during the cold and dry period of the year (winter). For each period, one carcass was burned with gasoline up to level 2 of Crow-Glassman scale (CGS) and another, was used as control. The carcasses were exposed in a natural wooded area, and placed in wire cages tp prevent the access of large scavengers. Pictures of the stages of decomposition were taken daily. Maggots were collected daily from the carcasses and brought to the laboratory and kept until adult emergence, counted and identified. Adults were collected by using an entomological net and identified in the laboratory. Although both, control and burned carcasses, were at the same decomposition stage, there was a delay in the decomposition of the burned carcass of 3 days from the 5th stage of decomposition in relation to the carcass control in the hot season. In this cold season was observed from the 3rd stage of decomposition, with an average delay of 9 days suggesting that the carbonization influence the time of decomposition. Insect sucession was observed in both carcasses (burned and control), showing a different pattern in each season and related to the mode of death. The colonization by arthropods was different in both carcasses, showing an influence of burning in the attractiveness and occurrence of some insects, suggesting that the blowfly Hemilucilia semidiaphana, may be used as forensic indicator for the mode of death, wooded areas and estimates of PMI, while Hemilucilia segmentaria may be used as forensic indicator for wooded areas and estimates of PMI. It was also observed that Chrysomya albiceps may be used as forensic indicator to estimates of PMI. Chrysomya putoria and Lucilia eximia may be used as forensic indicators for mode of death and estimates of IPM. Species of the family Sarcophagidae may be used as forensic indicators for mode of death and to estimate of PMI. Temperature and relative humidity also had an important influence on the decomposition process, slowing or accelerating the process on both substrates, as well as influencing the activity of insects. This study reported the important influence exerted by the cause of death and the abiotic factors, on the time of decay and on the insect fauna. Therefore, these factors have to be taken into consideration for the determination of the PMI / Mestrado / Parasitologia / Mestre em Parasitologia

Integrace metodiky PRINCE2 do internetové služby Unicorn Universe / Integration of the PRINCE2 methodology into the Unicorn Universe online service

Kocián, Václav January 2013 (has links)
This thesis deals with the subject of project management, primarily from the viewpoint of the development of a tool for project management support using the PRINCE2 methodology and the Unicorn Universe information system. The subject of the theoretical part is the definition of a project and project management and a description and a comparison of the most widely used project management standards, PRINCE2, PMI and IPMA. Subsequently, the emphasis is put on a detailed description of PRINCE2 with regard to its use in the next parts of the work. At the end of the theoretical part of the thesis the chapters are devoted to Unicorn Universe and to Unicorn Enterprise System Powered Company, which is a methodology used for company management. In the practical part, the author followed the recommended 4-phases process of the development of a new methodology set defined by the UESPC methodology; inception, elaboration, construction and transition. By means of the analysis in inception and elaboration stages and creation of A4 and High Level Concept documents, which describe specific ways how to implement various elements of PRINCE2into the Unicorn Universe, and the subsequent production of project management tool prototype, the author worked his way up to the construction stage, in which he designed and created definitions of meta artifacts and scripts for their later implementation in the final phase, called transition. In this phase metaartifacts were set up. They are templates for management and control artifacts and for other items necessary for the production of the methodological set, a final product of the thesis. At the end of thesis, the automation scripts, as proposed in the previous stage to verify the practical use of the thesis product, were assigned for implementation.

Herrera Córdova, Renzo Marcelo, Jurado Tasayco, Sebastian 23 August 2019 (has links)
This investigation reviews the concepts related to the delays that occur in construction projects and the causes of the inefficient monitoring and control made to the contractual schedule in multi-family building projects developed in the city of Lima, Peru. Information was collected on methodologies and tools being used worldwide as well as from 3 multi-family constriction building projects. From the information of these projects, the main problems of each methodology that ended up causing delays over their contractual schedule were identified. Problems identified were grouped into three: inadequate planning, inadequate programming and a weak or non-existent link between the two. Based on this analysis, a methodology was proposed with the main purpose of providing a guide to contractors to effectively monitor the contractual schedule of their projects and prevent any delay. / Tesis

Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Integration Mode for Enhancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Performance / Fusioner och förvärv (M&A) Integrationsmetod för att förbättra miljömässig, social och styrningsmässig (ESG) prestation

Chen, Caiwei, Ario Wibisono, Muhamad January 2023 (has links)
This thesis addresses the critical issue of incorporating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations in the context of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) integration. As companies face increasing pressure to align their business strategies with sustainable practices, understanding how different MA integration modes can facilitate the implementation of ESG enhancements within merged companies becomes imperative. The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of two MA integration modes, absorption integration, and symbiotic approach, on enhancing ESG performance. Using a multiple case study approach, four MA cases from Orbis and Nordic Compass databases were examined. The findings reveal that the absorption integration leads to more efficient and effective implementation of ESG strategies compared to the symbiotic approach. The results contribute to the existing knowledge by highlighting the crucial relationship between post-merger integration (PMI) approaches and the improvement of ESG practices.

Understanding Process Improvement: Social Psychological Factors Affecting the Use of Project Management Practices

Thornley, Russell K. 13 January 2005 (has links) (PDF)
To facilitate a better understanding of the social psychological factors that influence adoption of project management practices, this study draws upon the theory of reasoned action (TRA) and the theory of planned behavior (TPB) from social psychology, and the technology acceptance model (TAM) from information systems research. These models define and relate a number of belief constructs that predict the acceptance of technologies in a variety of settings. In general, the three models each have relatively consistent empirical support, with comparison studies showing mixed support for each of the models being the moderately "better" model. In the current study, the three models are thoroughly integrated using a latent constructs approach and structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques. Overall, constructs from TRA and TAM, but not TPB, predict the use of specific project estimating, plan development, and plan commitment practices defined in the Capability Maturity Models (CMM/I).
