Development of a Prototype Auditory Training Computer Program for Hearing Impaired Preschoolers

A computer program which pairs auditory stimuli with visual stimuli was developed for the purpose of providing auditory training for the hearing impaired. It utilizes a Texas Instruments 99 /4A computer and Extended BASIC programming language which allows considerable graphics and sound capability. The lessons make full use of the sixteen colors available and the sound is provided three ways: Texas Instruments speech synthesizer, the computer itself (musical tones and noise), and by tape recorder which is controlled by the computer. Focus of the lessons, which are designed for children ages three to five, is awareness of sound, environmental sounds, discrimination of changes in pitch and duration of sound, recognition of rhythm, and early language learning. At this beginning level, the program is primarily teaching by pairing the stimuli repeatedly, but there are some higher level tasks requiring input from the child to identify a stimulus.

Denna studie vill undersöka hur svenska och finska pedagoger beskriver anknytning och inskolning samt hur de förbereder och arbetar med inskolning av nya familjer till förskolan och vad pedagogerna anser som hinder i ämnet. Syftet fokuserade på att få kunskap om hur inskolningspraktiker genomfördes, hur pedagogerna resonerade om detta, deras val av pedagogiska metoder vid arbetet kring anknytning. Studien använde sig av fenomenografi för att studera människors uppfattningar om ämnet. Jag ville undersöka ”vad de vet” om ämnet och hur de förstår det. För att besvara frågeställningen genomfördes en kvalitativ metod med semistrukturerade intervjuer för att ta reda på pedagogernas uppfattningar i ämnet dessa intervjuer genomfördes i ett öppet samtal där de fick plats att styra samtalet till vad de menar som viktigt. Intervjuerna genomfördes med totalt sju pedagoger från Sverige och Finland. Resultaten visade att pedagogerna beskriver anknytning på ett liknande sätt men det skiljer sig i hur de arbetar med inskolning och vilka förutsättningar de har beroende på olika faktorer ex lagar och samhällsnormer. De arbetade även olika med hur man bjuder in föräldrarna i verksamheten, men alla pedagogerna såg föräldrarna som en tillgång vid inskolningsmomentet. Slutsatserna kan användas som inspiration till att genomföra nya studier kring ämnet då mer vetenskap behövs kring detta forskningsfält.

The thesis is focused on a preschool-aged children and on possibilities of their personality and social development through the educational project in preschool education. The first, theoretical part, deals with the process of socialization which is broadly developing after the start of preschool education. It also presents pieces of information about educational process in pre-primary school related to the importance of the process of socialization in educational practice as well as in relation to contemporary personality approach and comprehensive integrated approach in preschool education. The main focus remains on the possibilities of educational projects in this area. The second, practical part, explores via observation and questionaire methods the personality expressions of children in social interaction and relationships between children. But first and foremost it verifies the benefits of educational projecting for the possibility of intentional work on personality and social development of children in pre-primary school. Target of this thesis is to realize an one-month musical project at one of kindergarten classes while using Orf's musical instruments. Further to find out through a musical test prospective individual contribution of Orf's musical instruments involvement to a musical development of preschool children. Theoretical part of thesis describes a pedagogical reform at musical education, current status of musical education at kindergardens based on a General Education Programm (RVP). Further refers to a psychological aspect of musical development of preschool children, describes Orf's musical instruments itself and its usage at "itegrative pedagogy". Practical part of thesis is dedicated to a survey. It discovers how often, which way and which musical instruments are used at kindergardens. The musical project is performed at one of kindergarten classes via musical test. Musical abbilities and skills of children are investigated and contribution of Orf's musical instruments is verified and evaluated.

Šiuo metu plačiai diskutuojama apie ikimokyklinio ugdymo įstaigos pokyčius bei rezultatus. Didelė ugdymo programų įvairovė. Todėl didelis dėmesys skiriamas ugdymo kokybės užtikrinimui, diegiama patikima ugdymo turinio vertinimo sistema. Vis didesnis dėmesys skiriamas ugdymo programų kūrimui, netradiciniams ugdymo metodams, tame tarpe ir M. Montessori pedagoginei sistemai. Tačiau dar neatskleista priešmokyklinio ugdymo turinio kokybės samprata M. Montessori pedagoginėje sistemoje. Šio baigiamojo darbo tikslas – atskleisti priešmokyklinio ugdymo turinio kokybės sampratą M. Montessori pedagoginėje sistemoje. Tyrimo objektas: Priešmokyklinio ugdymo turinio kokybės samprata. Tyrimu siekta: 1. Apibrėžti priešmokyklinio ugdymo turinio sampratą remiantis „laisvojo ugdymo paradigma“. 2. Atskleisti priešmokyklinio ugdymo turinio kokybės ypatumus. 3. The theoretical part characterizes the conditions of present preschool education with regard to the specifics of families from socially and culturally disadvantaged backgrounds. The research part is aimed at identifying the views and attitudes of parents and teaching staff on the issue and monitoring the progress in the development of children during the educational process in kindergarten.
