Kuncipálová, Žaneta January 2021 (has links)
Title: Sexual satisfaction in people with spinal cord injuries engaged in regular physical activity. Objectives: The main goal of this work is to determine the level of sexual satisfaction in people with spinal cord injuries, who perform regular physical activity. Methods: A battery of questions was used to find out the satisfaction of people with spinal cord injuries, who regularly perform physical activity. The WHOQOL 100, PASID, LATA, SAS SAQ questionnaires were used as basic for creating battery of questions. Data collection was completely anonymous and took place online. The survey involved 21 respondents with spinal cord injuries (18 men and 3 women) aged 18 to 75 years. All were included in the research because they met the criteria for performing regular physical activity. The results of the survey were processed into graphs and tables and supplemented by a written commentary. Results: It was found that for a majority of respondents their sexual life is important and for most of them the sexual life is a source of pleasure. Almost half of the respondents consider their sexual life satisfactory. However , less than half of the respondents state that not all their needs are met. The research suggests that satisfaction with amount of physical activity performed may be related to higher quality...

Maturana, Maria Fernanda Sanchez January 2020 (has links)
(Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This research aims to analyze the life stories of women with physical disabilities who are part of a social group in the northwest of São Paulo and the influence of spaces conducive to leisure in their social relationships and their quality of life. The Group is specific for monthly meetings of people with physical disabilities in which they exchange experiences in recreational spaces. Life History, when defined as a theoretical contribution, made it possible to establish a means in which people could, through playful dialogue, relive facts, experiences and events related to sexuality, identifying ways, looks, pleasures and sensitivities printed through bodies with disabilities. Data collection took place through open interviews (recorded in audio) without pre-established scripts, with two participants in the group. The interviews were developed until they reached a saturation point (exhausting the subjects) and then transcribed for data analysis. The results showed that the Group and the recreational meetings that it provides are very relevant in the life stories of the interviewees, in which they experience moments of leisure and learning through the experiences they exchange with the other participants. The interviewees declared that these meetings make them more motivated and confident in the face of their social and sexual problems arising from disability, thus, the importance of leisure in improving their quality of life and their life histories is explicit. / Mestre

Hiporehabilitace jako prostředek pro (re)socializaci osob s míšní lézí / Hiporehabilitation as a means for (re)socializing people with spinal lesions

Pospíšilová, Johana January 2020 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with hyporehabilitation and its influence on the (re) socialization of people with spinal cord lesions in adulthood. The theoretical part deals with physical disability and then defines the spinal cord injury and its consequences reflected in the life of the individual and the individual social aspects into which the disability is intertwined. We also deal with hyporehabilitation and its division into individual categories and their goals. Hyporerehabilitation is introduced as a possible way for the resocialization of people with spinal lesions. In this work we will introduce the individual components of hipporehabilitation and introduce ways of working with clients in individual areas. Each area is aimed at developing a different aspect of human personality. In all areas, we emphasize and raise the impact on physical disability and personality traits that form specifically spinal lesions. For each type of hiporebilitation, we indicate its goal of action. These goals and categories intersect, with the chapters emphasizing the impact on disability. Based on the interviews, the life changes of a person with an acquired disability due to a spinal cord injury were described. In the analysis of individual interviews, we focused on their changes in behavior and also values, on...

Lynard, Sara, Strand, Emelie January 2021 (has links)
Physical education in Swedish primary schools is a subject that places demand on physical activity and movement. The student receives grades based on their performance in these physical activities. In this study, eight physical education teachers were interviewed to investigate how they experience the inclusion work so that all students, regardless of any physical disabilities or not, can participate in the sports lesson and what applications they would like to be able to implement this inclusion. It appears that physical education teachers experience challenges in designing an inclusive physical education so that all students can participate. The results of the study show a need for access to knowledge that can be of a significant nature for how physical education teachers work to include all students. It also shows that physical education teachers today work on the basis of a lesson design based on activity where everyone is expected to be able to participate based on certain physical preferences and that they are constantly faced with challenges in how to go about not having to expose individual students to become excluded. The conclusion shows that physical education today does not offer inclusion for all students and in cases where physical education teachers try to adapt the lesson, this can result in individual students still being excluded.

Díaz Suarez, José Edgard, Morales Vargas, Christian Ricardo 23 April 2019 (has links)
The present thesis proposes the design of a system that works with electro-occupational signals and then processes and interprets them so that the user can work with the computer using only the ocular muscle. The problem that is solved has a technical engineering inclination, since it seeks to correct the weaknesses and cover the aspects not touched by the present state of the art, to finally design an electronic equipment that allows the interaction of a user with a computer under the needs of a person with a disability in the upper limbs. The designed device is composed of a circuit capable of acquiring through electrodes the EOG signal of a person, processing and analyzing it to know the waveform and then interpret it and send a waveform recognition character using a bluetooth to a computer with which it must be paired in advance.  This computer will consist of software that was designed in the present thesis and will be able to interpret the received characters and perform functions of moving and pressing a mouse, as well as writing using a virtual keyboard. In order to validate the designed device, tests were made with 16 people, of which 14 were people without disabilities in the upper limbs and 2 of them were. We did not work with patients from a specific health centre, but tested with people contacted by doctors and physiotherapists, including some who work for the UPC, who provided their unconditional support for validation and testing with the patients in their care. The results obtained in the tests carried out show that out of a group of 16 people the efficiency in the recognition of the waveform of a double blink is 92.9%, of the blink - look up and blink - look down 88.4% and of the prolonged blink 93%. The target value was 80% to more, so it is achieved. / Tesis

Parasport och psykologiskt välbefinnande : en kvalitativ studie om parasportares psykologiska välbefinnande inom idrotten / Parasport and psychological well-being : A qualitative study on thepsychological well-being of para-athletes in sport

Runestam, Jakob January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to investigate how paraathletes with a physical disability experience psychological well-being within their sport. Ten paraathletes with a physical disability participated in the study whereas seven were male and three female within the ages of 18-64 (M=38.7, SD=15.9). The study was of qualitative nature and a semi-structured interview guide was designed based on psychological well-being in order to investigate the purpose. Through a thematic analysis, three main themes were formed: Relationships to others and oneself, purpose and development act as a driving force, and, difficulties in mastering the environment. The main themes together with their sub-themes reflected the participants' experiences of psychological well-being in sports. The participants in the study felt that social relations with others were strong in parasports and that it was an important part of their everyday life to feel purpose and to have fun. Overall, psychological well-being within parasport was considered secure but with some limitations in environmental mastery and personal development. The results of the study sheds extra light on the experiences para-athletes with a physical disability exhibit within their parasport. Future research may benefit from specifying the outcome by comparing age groups against each other to highlight possible differences in psychological well-being depending on age within parasport.

Knez, Andreas January 2017 (has links)
School sports and physical activities have been shown to provide different health-related benefits. Benefits that involves the ability to feel better and complete the schooling process. However, its not all groups of students who have the prerequisites for using physical education. This work has therefore been based on the purpose of investigating adults with physical disabilities and their experience of intramural sports in Swedish elementary school through an interview study. To answer my purpose, two questions were used. What factors prevent students with physical disabilities to participate in physical education and whether there are factors that allows for the possibilities to participate in physical education. The result has been shown that physical inaccessibility not only affects the ability of individuals to participate in sporting activities but also the possibility of joining a social community with other classmates, which also affects the mental health. There have also been forms of insufficient knowledge about the disability area from school representatives. As far as possible factors are concerned, it has been found that various support interventions may be important for some individuals with physical disabilities to gain access to physical education. For example, assistance. It has also been found that individuals with physical disabilities usually have their own solutions in order to participate in physical education in elementary school.

TRANSLATING THEORY TO PRACTICE: UNDERSTANDING THE ROLE OF THEORY IN REAL-WORLD BEHAVIOUR CHANGE INTERVENTIONS IN THE PHYSICAL DISABILITY COMMUNITY / THEORY TO PRACTICE IN THE PHYSICAL DISABILITY COMMUNITY

Tomasone, Jennifer Rose January 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this dissertation was to test the utility of theories across the development, implementation, and evaluation of three nationwide knowledge translation (KT) interventions in the physical disability community. Using a theory-based evaluation guided by the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), Study 1 evaluates the effectiveness of an evidence-based, continuing education module designed to increase emergency health care professionals’ (HCPs) knowledge and use of clinical practice guidelines for managing patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) who present with autonomic dysrefexia. Findings suggest that behaviour change theory should be integrated into the intervention to change theory-based determinants of behaviour, and that information about intervention implementation may help explain observed outcomes. Study 2 examined the use of theory across three phases of research in the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s Changing Minds, Changing Lives (CMCL) intervention. Study 2.1 describes the restructuring of the CMCL curriculum to include research evidence and theory. Study 2.2 evaluates the short- and long-term effects of the CMCL intervention on HCPs’ social cognitions for discussing leisure-time physical activity (LTPA), and explores key implementation variables that predict changes in HCPs’ social cognitions. Overall Study 2 results suggest that: (1) using a KT framework and integrating stakeholders throughout intervention development increases the likelihood that interventionists will adopt and implement the intervention, and (2) real-world implementation is important to understanding intervention effectiveness. Study 3 examines the effectiveness, and its implementation correlates, of Get in Motion (GIM), a nationwide, LTPA-enhancing telephone counseling service for adults with SCI. Study 3 furthers our understanding of the relationship between implementation and effectiveness, and suggests key implementation ingredients that could be targeted in future refinements of GIM. Together, the dissertation studies contribute to our understanding of how to use theory when developing, implementing, and evaluating behaviour change interventions targeting HCPs and other end-users in the physical disability community. / Dissertation / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Sociální prostředí v rodině osob (dětí), se zdravotním postižením / Social enviroment in family with disabled child

HOŠTIČKOVÁ, Věra January 2016 (has links)
The given Diploma Thesis focuses on social environment in the families with disabled children. The first three chapters describe the process of socialization and its impact on human development, then a family creating an environment for primary socialization and finally the third chapter describes examples of physical disabilities and specifics related to socialization of disabled people. This phenomena, examined and verified through the qualitative research, constitutes the issue of the fourth chapter. The qualitative survey is based on semi-structured interviews, followed by their open-coding assessment. The survey demonstrates changes, both in the family and in the family´s social environment, which occurred after the birth of a child with physical disability, or after detecting a diagnosis as a consequence of the acquired disability. The topic in question also discusses difficulties associated with care of a children with physical disability, as for the time, mental, social and other requirements.
