Etické aspekty přípravy na rodičovství u osob se zrakovým postižením / Ethical Aspects of Preparations For Parenthood of Persons With Visually Impairments

DANIELKOVÁ, Dana January 2015 (has links)
The paper deals with preparations for parenthood in persons with visual disabilities. The first part describes the target group and is dedicated to defining the terms family and parenthood, and their importance in our lives. Further, it presents the most important determinants that affect the parenthood of these people and their ethical evaluation. It touches upon society's prejudices associated with parenthood, which make it difficult for these people to integrate into society. Based on qualitative research, the paper presents practical measures that make it possible to eliminate the incidence of prejudice while promoting a quality fulfilment of the parental role for the benefit of a healthy development of the child and the development of the parent's personality, thus improving the integration of parents with visual disabilities into society.

The Time Before a Crisis : An evaluation of Region Östergötland’s pre-crisis phase before the COVID-19 pandemic

Björnqvist, Anton January 2021 (has links)
During the spring of 2020, COVID-19 rapidly started to spread within Sweden, causing a crisis that affected the entire society, and in particular, the health care sector. What makes the COVID-19 pandemic a unique crisis is that it did not appear as a complete surprise when it reached Sweden. Partly because pandemics are expected to happen and therefore anticipated, partly because reports of COVID-19 and its effects were available before the disease caused a crisis in Sweden. This makes the phase before the crisis, known as the pre-crisis phase, quite long. For this study, it is argued that the pre-crisis phase encompasses actions taken before COVID-19 was known, predominantly in the form of the development of pandemic preparedness plans, as well as the actions taken when COVID-19 was known before it reached Sweden. However, due to the decentralisation of the Swedish political system, the twenty-one regions being responsible for the health care sector, and the uneven geographical transmission of the virus, the pre-crisis phase most likely differed across the country. In this study, it is the pre-crisis phase of Region Östergötland which has been examined and evaluated as a part of the Center for Disaster Medicine and Traumatology’s general evaluation of the COVID-19 pandemic in Östergötland. The study has aimed to answer the research questions related to how the pre-crisis phase was conducted, and how three different theories can contribute to the understanding of the pre-crisis phase. The theories used were Conflicting Objectives Perspective, High Reliability Organisation, and Resilience Engineering. To answer the research questions, semi-structured interviews with eight employees of Region Östergötland involved in the pre-crisis phase were conducted. The interviews were analysed using the thematic analysis approach. The thematic analysis showed that the pre-crisis phase was mainly characterised by organisational changes within the regular organisational structures, different challenges predominately related to acquiring personal protective equipment, a lack of information from the national agencies, and a slight underestimation. These themes were used to answer the first research question. To answer the second research question, the aforementioned theories were applied to the themes. This application showed that there are aspects of the three theories that can contribute to the understanding of the pre-crisis phase. These aspects can also be used during future pre-crisis phases. Furthermore, based on the contributions of the three theories and the thematic analysis, a new model was developed which can be used to describe the different phases of the pre-crisis phase. The application of the theories and the new model resulted in general guidelines highlighting the important processes during a pre-crisis phase, including the processes of monitoring, anticipating, planning, and preparing.

Evaluation of Nigerian immigrant parenting practices in preparing their children for college

Amayo, Osagie Festus 01 January 2007 (has links) (PDF)
If the educational agenda No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act is to be successful, teachers, parents and children from all cultural backgrounds have to be involved in the implementation process. This idea of NCLB Act clearly identified with the purpose of this study, which was focused on the evaluation of the parenting practices of Nigerian immigrant parenting practices in preparing their children for college. Five basic parenting theoretical approaches were employed by the researcher to gather, collect and analyze the data. The researcher interviewed and observed the environment of sixteen Nigerian immigrant parents on how they prepare their children for college. One school administrator and one school teacher were interviewed to evaluate their own perception of how Nigerian immigrant parents prepare their children for college. The major results of the findings were proactive parenting strategies. These included Cultural Orientation; Immigrant Experience; Surviving in the United States; Strong Parental Background; Early Childhood Education; Early Emphasis on Education; Close Interest in Children; Regular Supervision of Children; Preservation of Indigenous Culture; Supportive Family Collaboration; Strong Involvement in School Activities; Involvement in Community Organizations; Comparing of the Cultural Values in the United States and Nigeria; and Early Emphasis on Education. The study provided specific recommendations to assist teachers and school administrators in providing support to Nigerian immigrant parents as they prepare their children for college. Suggestions for additional research were provided. The concluding statement hinged on the idea that there are several factors that Nigerian immigrant parents consider beyond the conventional levels in preparing their children for college. Ultimately, proactive parenting is an innovative strategy that demonstrated that all children benefited maximally from the motivation of parents, expertise of teachers and the resources in the environment.

An Analysis of the Variables in Implementation of the Marzano Causal Teacher Evaluation System in the State of Florida

Phillips, Matthew 01 January 2014 (has links)
This was a non-experimental, mixed methods study to research the different ways in which the Marzano casual teacher evaluation system was implemented in 25 school districts in the state of Florida during the 2012-2013 school year. Based on seven implementation variables, the teacher evaluation systems were compared to the implementation model and research-based best practice. The researcher then sought to determine what relationships may or may not exist in teacher performance ratings between districts that followed the research-based implementation model and districts that did not. Two stated purposes of the Marzano causal teacher evaluation system were to improve the accuracy of teacher performance ratings and to improve the accuracy of feedback provided to teachers. Variation in implementation may possibly occur among school districts. To date no research has been conducted to analyze how variations in implementation may relate to teacher performance ratings. The purpose of this study was to provide data to support best-practice in the implementation of the Marzano causal teacher evaluation system and to guide instructional leaders on the implementation of this evaluation system. The researcher also sought to ensure the Marzano causal teacher evaluation system provides both accurate teacher feedback and accurate teacher evaluations. Data was collected from the Florida Department of Education published reports and information. School district implementation plans were gathered from state submitted documentation. Implementation plans were analyzed and read. Data was collected on a data collection sheet and then analyzed in SPSS using a crosstab Chi square test to determine if a statistically significant relationships existed between districts that followed the research-based implementation model and districts that did not. It was determined that implementation of the Marzano causal evaluation system varies widely. In six out of the seven implementation variables, it was determined that there were statistically significant relationships in teacher evaluation scores between districts that followed the research-based implementation variables and districts that did not. Further research should include validity and reliability studies on the Marzano causal evaluation system. Research should continue to analyze different ways in which the Marzano causal evaluation system is implemented, and what relationship there is between implementation and teacher performance ratings. Research should be conducted to analyze the effectiveness of feedback provided to teachers through the Marzano causal teacher evaluation system. This research indicates that the Marzano causal teacher evaluation system should be used following research based best-practice and how it is intended to be used. The research in this study shows that when implementation variables are altered in the Marzano causal teacher evaluation system, teacher performance ratings may become inaccurate. Based on misunderstandings of the Marzano causal evaluation system, it is recommended school leaders receive additional training on the understanding and implementation of the Marzano casual teacher evaluation system.

You shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has led you (Dtn 8,2) : a practical theological study of the significance of biography work for pastoral care with persons in the post employment phase of life

Schulz, Ursula (Theologian) 11 1900 (has links)
Old age and the process of aging is currently one of the most important fields for future scientific study and research. Special focus is centered on the post-career phase. A society where life is prolonged for an extra 20 to 30 years, most of which are spent in reasonably good health, is culturally speaking a recent phenomenon for which there are no historical models. It follows, that the current generation bears a great responsibility in shaping and moulding this stage in their lives not only for themselves but also for future generations. This dissertation concentrates on the theme of aging, first from a humanistic point of view, and secondly by focusing on biblical and theological aspects. Both of these chapters contain fundamental and important statements regarding the subject of aging as seen from different disciplines, and, wherever possible, with reference to each other. They build the basis and prerequisite for the following chapter in which the significance and possibilities as well as the limits of biography work is researched in view of pastoral care and training for elderly people in the post employment phase of their life. It becomes obvious, that not only gerontological literature but also biblical texts depict biographical work as an important prerequisite for a life experienced as being successful, especially at drastic turning points in life. A vital part in biographical reflection with elderly people is played by the person and professionalism of the instructor. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / M. Th.
