Orientador: Celia Maria Marinho de Azevedo / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Filosofia e Ciencias Humanas / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-05T10:25:17Z (GMT). The aim of this M.A. thesis is to approach the formation of the black militancy at the city of Campinas in the 1920's by identifying the points of conflict and solidarity among the militants. Having in mind the theoretical proposals from the New Cultural History, this thesis searches for the meanings emanating from the militants' specific language in their effort to construct racial identities. In this way this research focuses on the pages of a black newspaper the Getulino - whose discourse is analyzed along with its diverse representations. The relationship between the text of this primary source and the ideologies, which impregnated society by then, may be better understood by examining the debates on the formation of the Brazilian nation. As one shall see, the notions of "race" and "evolution" deeply permeated those debates. In conclusion, by refusing to adopt the notion of fixed identities, this thesis allows to visualize the invention of identities within a social and cultural movement / Mestrado / Historia Cultural / Mestre em História

Estamparia digital em algodão 100%: Estudo sobre o efeito dos produtos químicos utilizados no processo de preparação de tecidos em estampas com corantes reativos / Digital Printing in Cotton: Study on the effect of the chemicals used in the process of preparation for printing with reactive dyestuff

Raquel do Nascimento Bezerra 12 September 2017 (has links)
This project verified the influence of the chemicals used in the process of preparation of cotton fabrics, for subsequent digital printing with reactive dyestuff. In the preparation process, the influence of the factors \'amount of thickener\', \'anti-migrant\', \'alkali\', \'hygroscopic agent\' and \'sodium chloride (NaCl)\' were used, being the answer coloristic intensity (K S-1) of the yellow, red, blue and black colors, evaluating the color fastness to water and friction. Based on the obtained mathematical model, an optimized recipe with savings of 35 g L-1 and 45 g L-1 of thickener and NaCl, respectively, was applied. The application generated higher values of K S-1 in three of the four colors studied. Only the blue color had lower value, but with a difference of only 0.06 units, considered not significant. In the solids tested, the minimum score obtained was 4/5, considered as satisfactory on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 is the worst result and 5 the best, that is, there was no detriment in the color fastnesstested in the optimized recipe in relation to the recipe of greater K S-1 of the planning

A influência de tratamentos com quitosana na solidez da cor a lavagem em camisetas de algodão com estamparia digital / Chitosan influence on color fastness to washing of cotton t-shirts with digital printing

Guilherme Venancio de Oliveira 15 September 2017 (has links)
The use of chitosan as binder has become relevant due to its chemical structure which is responsible for its biodegradable and antibacterial good. The present study is aimed to the use of chitosan to aid in the fixation of pigmented dyes used in digital printing. A carboxymethylcellulose was also tested. The chitosan was dissolved in 2% (v / v) acetic acid at the concentrations of 5, 10, 15 and 22.2 g / L, while a carboxymethylcellulose was dissolved in water at 14.28 g / L. applied as pre and post treatments in cotton mesh by two different processes, Foulard and silk-screen. The presence of polymers impregnated in the cotton fibers was evaluated by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The treated and untreated mesh samples were washed 54 times simulating the use of a T-shirt for one year and evaluated in spectrophotometer for color fastness to wash, using the CIELAB E * system. The results showed that the use of chitosan and carboxymethylcellulose as a post-treatment improved the color wash performance in 64% when evaluated by CIELAB E * and 68% when evaluated by gray scale. The samples with application of chitosan and carboxymethylcellulose as pre-treatments presented lower values of color fastness, when compared to the post-treated samples

O contorno deste território frágil, a pele, é nossa fronteira, que nos protege e nos expõe / Abstract: The research presents the ways of artistic making and explores a subjective kind of knowing and the corresponding reflections arising from this practice. The artistic production is composed of lithographies and body frottages, which are personal impressions about a fragile territory: the body, the human territory. In lithography, the body and the skin are real references, that is, my inked body, pressed against a lithographic stone, imprints the physical marks and texture of the skin, whereas in body frottages, the body is traced onto a flat paper surface. These experiences are unique, allowing the creation of body images, with the physical presence of the referent, so as to preserve the real scale of the body in both procedures. The artistic practice has provided a reference for the reflections and the relations with certain artists, which occur through the affinity of the procedures in adopting the impression of a real presence and with photography, as it works with this incidence at the moment of the creation. The skin is the edge of my territory with the next person and with the world, sheltering and delineating one¿s individuality. The sense of touch is about proximity because we affirm our own existence out of the need to become closer to one another, that is, the sense of touch allows us to understand that life has depth and boundaries, making our sense of the world and our sense of ourselves tridimensional. The boundary of this fragile territory, the skin, is our frontier, which protects us and exposes us / Mestrado / Artes / Mestra em Artes

CAMOLUTION : Contemporary surface pattern expressions in textile design.

Porcher, Mathieu January 2017 (has links)
Camolution is a project that explores the camouflage pattern in a textile designcontext. The motive is to reinterpret an obsolete concealment function andinstead, to hide and reveal visual textile aspects within the pattern. Theprimary aim of this work is to develop a contemporary camouflage patterncollection of printed and knitted textiles, and to explore the concealmentfunction through visual deceptions. The patterns were developed witha method that uses a selection of rules in colour contrasts, style influences and textile proprieties to design a series of patternexperiments. The final pattern designs were screen printed, digitalprinted and knitted, and applied as garment prototypes. This part wasdone in collaboration with the fashion brand Björn Borg. The result setsout a collection of textiles and clothes connected by three differentconcepts of misled vision. It was found that the camouflage function in thiswork was an efficient tool to advertise the brand symbols within the textiles. This work proposes an alternative design method of using the camouflageconcept in textile design, contributing with new expressions, techniquesand qualities.

Ink Key Presetting in Offset Printing Presses Using Digital Images of the Plates

Lehnberg, Linus January 2002 (has links)
During a make ready in a web offset press it is important to produce as little waste as possible. Reducing the amount of waste yields savings of both time and money. One way to do faster make ready is to preset the ink keys of the press before it is started. This diploma work, carried out at Sörmlands Grafiska Quebecor AB in the city of Katrineholm, Sweden, examines how the ink key preset may be done using low- resolution digital images stored in the vendor independent data format CIP3 PPF. The press that has been used has a control interface that is not accessible from the outside. This feature is shared with a lot of older presses. Therefore several methods of how to present and collect ink key settings using offline methods have been tested. To investigate the relationship between mean coverage over one ink zone and its corresponding ink key opening data from a 32-page web offset press has been collected. The mean coverage was taken from the CIP3 PPF files that were related to the collected print jobs. The relationship that was found between the coverage and the opening can be described with a transfer curve (one curve per printing unit and side). Using as few as three print jobs of high quality (density and dot gain within given tolerances) a first set of transfer curves may be created. These are close to the real ones and using print jobs where the ink key presettings have been calculated the transfer curves may be calibrated to perform better and better presetting calculations. To generate and calibrate the transfer curves and to extract the mean coverage values from the CIP3 PPF files and recalculate these to presetting values a computer program called IKPS (Ink Key Presetting System) was made. IKPS was made using MATLAB from MathWorks INC. IKPS have been tested for ink key presetting during a number of print jobs. Even though the transfer curves were uncalibrated the system performed well. As comparison the results from a plate scanner was used. Even if online transfer of the presetting values is preferable the big advantage with the IKPS is that it is an offline system and therefore it is possible to implement it on any kind of offset press, old as well as new. In order to generate reliable transfer curves the print jobs used for calibration must be of high printing quality and representative for that particular press. How the ink key presettings are presented in the press control room depends on what kind of press it is. IKPS works with CIP3 PPF files as well as low-resolution cmyk tiff files.

A Study of Oriented Mottle in Halftone Print

Andersson, Anna, Eklund, Klara January 2007 (has links)
Coated solid bleached board belongs to the top-segment of paperboards. One important property of paperboard is the printability. In this diploma work a specific print defect, oriented mottle, has been studied in association with Iggesund Paperboard. The objectives of the work were to develop a method for analysis of the dark and light areas of oriented mottle, to analyse these areas, and to clarify the effect from the print, coating and paperboard surface related factors. This would clarify the origin of oriented mottle and predict oriented mottle on unprinted paperboard. The objectives were fulfilled by analysing the areas between the dark halftone dots, the amount of coating and the ink penetration, the micro roughness and the topography. The analysis of the areas between the dark halftone dots was performed on several samples and the results were compared regarding different properties. The other methods were only applied on a limited selection of samples. The results from the study showed that the intensity differences between the dark halftone dots were enhanced in the dark areas, the coating amount was lower in the dark areas and the ink did not penetrate into the paperboard. The other results showed that areas with high transmission corresponded to dark areas, smoother micro roughness, lower coating amount and high topography. A combination of the information from these properties might be used to predict oriented mottle. The oriented mottle is probably an optical phenomenon in half tone prints, and originates from variations in the coating and other paperboard properties.

A Study of Direct Digital Manufactured RF/Microwave Packaging

Stratton, John W.i. 28 October 2015 (has links)
Various facets of direct digital manufactured (DDM) microwave packages are studied. The rippled surface inherent in fused deposition modeling (FDM) fabricated geometries is modeled in Ansoft HFSS, and its effect on the performance of microstrip transmission lines is assessed via simulation and measurement. The thermal response of DDM microstrip transmission lines is analyzed over a range of RF input powers, and linearity is confirmed over that range. Two IC packages are embedded into DDM printed circuit boards, and their performance is analyzed. The first is a low power RF switch, and the second is an RF front end device that includes a low noise amplifier (LNA) and a power amplifier (PA). The RF switch is shown to perform well, as compared to a layout designed for a Rogers 4003C microwave laminate substrate. The LNA performs within datasheet specifications. The power amplifier generates substantial heat, so a thermal management attempt is described. Finally, a capacitively loaded 6dB Wilkinson power divider is designed and fabricated using DDM techniques and materials. Its performance is analyzed and compared to simulation. The device is shown to compare favorably to a similar device fabricated on a Rogers 4003C microwave laminate using traditional printed circuit board techniques.
