Relationship study among Recognition of Organizational Reform, Job Stress and Organizational Commitment-for Administrative Staffs in Reformed Private Colleges

Hung, Li-Mei 22 August 2005 (has links)
This study involved 596 administrative staff members in nine private colleges that had been reorganized into universities of technology in Taiwan by February, 2004. In the study, we looked into the staff members¡¦ perceptions of organizational change, job stress and organizational commitment, as well as the interrelationship among them. The findings indicate that those administrative staff members have mid-to-high-level recognition of the inevitability of the organizational change and its resulting benefits. They have medium-level awareness of their voices being ignored by the school and a lack of communication. Nevertheless, maladaptive problems in jobs and positions were seldom mentioned. The major job stress is from contingency arrangements, urgent issues or unscheduled assignments. The staff hold a conservative attitude toward organizational commitment, without showing stable or strong identification with the school. Factor analysis, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression were used to examine the significant differences among variables. Major findings through further correlation analysis include: (1) organizational commitment has a positive correlation with the staff¡¦s perceptions of organizational change, and a negative correlation with their recognition of the necessary sacrifice of the interests resulting from the reorganization, (2) the higher level the recognition of organizational reform, the more job stress; and this job stress has significantly high negative correlation with organizational commitment, and (3) those administrative staff who are relatively young, unmarried, less experienced in working, and received fewer years of education tend to be better in recognizing organizational reform and job stress, but worse in organizational commitment. This finding shows that the recognition of organizational reform tends to negatively influence organizational commitment through job stress.

Criação de valor em instituições privadas de ensino superior de capital aberto no Brasil / Value creation in private institutions of college education companies in Brazil that are publicly-traded

Silva, Flavia Renata Moreira da 24 November 2011 (has links)
In recent years, the private sector gained a dominant share of Brazilian college education market, encompassing 74% of students enrolled in the year 2009. The industry experienced a period of strong expansion, after the promulgation of the Law of Directives and Basis of Education - LDB - (between 1997 and 2002) and with the launch by the Federal Government of measures that encouraged private investment in college education. The growth experienced by this industry is reaching its limit and competition is increasing. In this competitive reality in which companies are immersed, managers must continually seek to make their companies, in the short term, produce financial results to ensure their survival and be worth enough to attract the interest and capital of investors. As well, in the long term, managers must ensure the capacity for renewal and adaptation of the business to new market demands. In this context, value-based management emerged as a management tool to ensure value creation for shareholders and stakeholders. The main aim of this study is to identify and analyze the creation of economic value by private college education companies that are publicly-traded in Brazil. To measure whether there is creation / destruction of value, it was used the GTV model - Total Value Generation, developed by Prof. Dr. Alberto Borges Matias (2007), which separates the generation of value in two components: working capital (short term) and long term. The study conclude that the private college education companies that are publicly-traded in Brazil create value in the short term, but they destroy in the long term.

Integrate and Assess: Information Literacy as Quality Enhancement of Undergraduate Curriculum

Smith, Philip A. 01 January 2016 (has links)
This article is an account of how one small liberal arts university undertook a large scale curriculum integration and assessment project under the auspices of a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). After a review of relevant literature, the integration and assessment process is outlined, and the assessment data is analyzed and discussed. The integration used a tiered approach, attempting to engage students with significant IL experiences first at the lower general education level, then subsequently at the upper level in their disciplinary context. Assessment tools include widely used standardized tests and surveys as well as locally developed rubrics and surveys. While the plan satisfied the reaccreditation requirements, this is a case study and not a template; many factors would make it difficult to generalize the assessment results. More useful to IL advocates and other institutions may be the overall approach of this QEP, which aimed to be thorough enough to align with regional and national standards yet flexible enough to meet local needs.

The main objective of this is to indicate the foremost effects on the expansion on the private college teaching education loans policies. It also identifies the mechanisms of students loans functions by searching the analyses of access, processes and contradictions of execution of the program over the policies for college education, in a context that the college expansion seems to be merchandised. It should be a concept to education as an attribute and universal right to men is now preterit to a mere product of consumption. The most important aspect was, as mention before, to identify the function mechanisms of FIES as a program on the college education policies. It is a simple qualitative explore search, which processes bibliographical data, analytic tool, reflexive-investigative and it also focus on documental analyses technique. The searching functions on quantitative and qualitative interactive manners by having the focus the following analyses categories: student financial student s loans to private college teaching education and the merchandising of college teaching education. After the analyses taken and discussed, we may say that FIES is an important public policy that should promote the access college education. Furthermore, spite being public, it was created for that, but it has been developed of private scenario, it means, on private college system which permits the private college institutions to use what in a sense should be public, but on the other hand it has been offered by the same public policy (the government). To conclude that that FIES the education system had the social acceptance reduced, and it is off an important right which should maintain certain and social human prerogatives to be put down on a basis level and treated as a tool of mere education merchandise as any other one / especificamente em relação ao ensino superior privado.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Josefa Sonia P Fonseca.pdf: 2438601 bytes, checksum: 14a0dc47a09514f6418a9f49ccf0bae0 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2007-05-03 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / In this research, the interference of the managerial process in the pedagogical model of a college was studied so that to check the contribution it gives to the construction of Administration students attitudes. The purpose of this investigation is to answer the following question: How does the managerial process interfere in the pedagogical project of a college and how does it reflect in the construction of students attitudes and professional activity? Based on this questioning, the History of Brazilian Public regulations that interfere in the management of colleges between 1956 and 2002 was revisited. Administration theories were studied, and they were framed in four perspectives: Structuralist, Humanist, Integrative and Organization Learnship model. From this point onwards, a model to help in the management of a college was developed in which the managerial system has as a foundation the development of people s knowledge and the change of the mental model in order to obtain the group satisfaction and increase the organization results. In order that the studied theories and above all the managerial model suggested are tested, a research was done with a private college so that the intersection points between what the studied theories define and the current practice adopted in the pedagogical and administrative management which finally interferes in the construcion of students attitudes could be identified. The research methodology adopted was the descriptive ethnographic and bibliographical study with a qualitative approach in which the case study was adopted. In it, individuals from the college were questioned (present students, former students, professors and staff) through questionnaires, interviews and in loco observation from which some conclusions were drawn. Among them, we can mention: the importance of the organization policies as a tool to obtain competitive advantage; the necessity to practise the systemic, competitive, innovative, creative and challenging management.; interest to develop the management based on a systemic thought, personal control, mental models, shared views and team learnship / Nesta pesquisa estudou-se a interferência do processo de gestão no modelo pedagógico de uma IES, de forma a contribuir para formação de atitudes dos alunos do curso de Administração. A investigação propôs-se a responder à seguinte questão: QUAL A INTERFERÊNCIA DO MODELO DE GESTÃO SOBRE O PROJETO PEDAGÓGICO DE UMA INSTITUIÇÃO DE ENSINO SUPERIOR E QUAL O REFLEXO DESSA INTERFERÊNCIA NAS ATITUDES DE FORMAÇÃO DO ALUNO E EM SUA ATIVIDADE PROFISSIONAL?
