No. of bitstreams: 1 Loyde Goncalves de Almeida.pdf: 610188 bytes, checksum: d7b415c66eee7774b10cf609c7c8a313 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-03-10 / This research aims to clarify the method of biblical counseling by Larry Crabb from the point of view of psychology and the Bible to bring a careful integration. Achieving an approach solidly based on Bible Scriptures, using the tools of secular psychology without betraying the "Biblical premise". Which encourages belief in the inerrant Bible and the grace of Christ almighty, believing that there is a personal and infinite God that revealed themself purposely in the written word, the Bible, and personally in the living word, Jesus Christ. In Crabb's approach the "mistaken belief , produce negative feelings and behaviors that prevent us to provide the need of a relationship with the Sacred. The purpose of the theory is focused on correcting negative thoughts and to promote the appropriate thought to produce correct behaviors and feelings. The focus is on the thoughts. The feelings of resentment, guilt and anxiety are the focal point of the disorder produced. Therefore, the task of a biblical counselor is directed to comprehend and unveil people's basic personal needs defined as meaning. Moreover let them perceive that this meaning is only attained through the recognition of their own value and importance in Christ, which Crabb defines as security. His theory is advised to leaders because it involves a transformative approach, highlighting the faith in God and the appreciation of the Bible as the Word of God.

Encruzilhadas da interpretação na umbanda / Crossroads of interpretation in the Umbanda.

Macêdo, Alice Costa 10 December 2015 (has links)
Umbanda is characterized as a possession cult, whose members, in a trance, incorporate spirits that appear in the terreiros (specific places for the religious ritual) on generally public ceremonies in order to \"work\" in the service of his faithful and consultants. The objective of this research was to investigate and describe the interpretative processes in Umbanda, from a ethnopsychological perspective. It is a case study of longitudinal type, based on the method of the participant listening, understood as the extension of the psychoanalytic method to field research, by using ethnographic techniques. The field research was accomplished in the Oxalá Umbanda Center (Ribeirão Preto - São Paulo - Brazil), where queries granted by spirits embodied by the father-of-saint were fully accompanied by records on the field diary. To achieve this purpose, the researcher was admitted into the place of father-of-saints Cambona, that is, an auxiliary of the ceremony. Psychoanalytic theory of interpretation assumed a heuristic value in this research, to enable the formulation of working hypotheses as guidelines that allowed the researcher to seek the understanding of the interpretative processes in Umbanda. The consultations showed the use of \"ingredients-things-significant\" that resemble a prayer but prayed performatively by the body, such as phrases that compose a poem whose interpretation is enunciated in the own umbandista symbolic system. It is suggested, therefore, that the interpretation in this context appear to present rich possibilities of combinations of features that are revealed beyond to the verbal. Psychoanalysis has proved an important tool for research regarding the field experience, the transference relationship and refinement of listening. The lacanian approach was useful in the sense that it comprises the interpretation that is present on the event and the event includes the interpretation; besides the possibility to analyze the symbolic register from the intersection of two axes, metaphor and metonymy, which facilitated the immersion of listening into the language of Umbanda spirits and, finally, it has allowed mapping interpretations that operate in materiality, to the letter and the bottom of thingsquite literally. Otherwise, it is clear that Freud\'s method of dream interpretation has not established approaches to what happens in the terreiros, because for Umbanda the interpretation does not seem to operate from manifest content access to latent content. In the case of Umbanda, the interpretation occurs in act, or rather is, the act itself, it is part of the body, reveals itself, but is a way to \"seeing\" that is close to the skin and not restricted to eyes. Furthermore, although it has been useful the idea that the author of dream interpretation is the dreamer himself, in the case of Umbanda, the subject interpreter is not only the medium, the spirit, the cambono or consultants. The subject of interpretation permeates all these characters, but resides in the proper symbolic system of Umbanda. Thus, it is proposed that spirituality is not disregarded, but treated as a resource for the development of new notions of protection that not only respect each other\'s culture, but above all that they can incorporate them to their care strategies. Although this research did not intend to investigate how african-Brazilian communities understand health and illness, suffering and care, it sought to contribute to an understanding of how, through interpretive procedures, this cultural universe refines listening and acceptance of those who turn to him.

Made available in DSpace on 2016-08-03T12:20:15Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Neusa Teztner.pdf: 277491 bytes, checksum: 1b8b9fec0f8bfdc994f6907f43c7d34b (MD5) Previous issue date: 2004-08-24 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / The present research s objective is to analyze the influence of religious faith on the treatment of persons with cancer, specifically rectal-colon cancer, in order to collect data from a homogeneous group. The field research was realized at the Ambulatory Oncology Ward of the Clinical Hospital of UNICAMP (The State University of Campinas). The motivation for this study arose via the pastoral presence of this researcher in the above noted context, the observation of the different reactions of patients with cancer, and awareness that faith played a fundamental role in treatment and personal struggle against the disease. The study relies on research on cancer by the physicians and psychoanalysts Carl Simonton and Stefanie M. Simonton, Com a Vida de Novo, and the author Bernie S. Siegel, Amor, Medicina e Milagres. The analysis and delimitation of the term faith relies on the thought of Paul Tillich, specifically The Dynamics of Faith, and James Fowler, Stages of Faith. The verification of the hypothesis also relied on understandings of Psychoanalysis and the Psychology and Religion developed by Carl Gustav Jung, Erich Fromm and Victor Frankl. The development of this project is presented in three chapters. The first presents an analysis of the relationship between medicine and faith, based on the above mentioned authors. The second chapter presents the results of the field research.

A produção da subjetividade na formação contemporânea do clero católico / The production of subjectivity in contemporaneous formation of Catholic clergy

Silvio José Benelli 14 December 2007 (has links)
This doctorate research is an investigation in Social Psychology about the ecclesiastical subjectivity production, as it is processed in a Catholic Seminary. Using the theoretical tool of institutional analysis based on Baremblitt, Foucault, Goffman and Costa-Rosa, we mapped the institutional operators that subjectivate the pedagogical device, the Seminary, focusing both their power relations and their mystical aspects, attentive to establishing and established dimensions. Our research field is a Catholic Diocesan Theological Seminary, where 50 seminarians live in boarding system, in final stage of preparation to priesthood; once ordained, they will be settled in relevant positions concerned to coordinate large parish communities. The data were obtained by observing the institutional daily life and by semidirected interviews with the diverse institutional actors. The outcomes indicated that ecclesiastical formation can be considered as a yet floating domain, composing a field of connected notions that we recognized as being pertaining to pedagogical, psychological and theological knowledge. There is a remarkable disconnection between the symbolical pact mould in projects and programs and the real implementation of other day-by-day operators: productors of diverse effects. The priest formation would not be led by official projects, by theological vocation nor by theological spirituality, but it seems to be improvised and strongly conditioned to dioceses\'s economical and precarious reality which maintains the establishment. The manifold theological and spiritual tendencies seem to be less incident in Seminarians formation (though academical dimension plays a great role in the process), than the rituals of passage which transform a candidate layman in a Catholic priest: rite of admission to candidacy as a Diocesan Seminarian, rites of institution in the ministries of reader and acolyte, rite of diaconal ordination and, finally, the rite of priestly ordination. There is neither recognition nor admission of totalitarian and disciplinary dimension by Theological Seminary. The homogeneous way of functioning of the Seminary would be retreat or conventual, based on enclosurement, thorough tutorship of candidate\'s existence to priesthood, on group livelihood and panoptism, attracted by gravitational force of Tridentine paradigm. We concluded that the actual format of the Theological Seminary would promote a priest strongly ecclesiastical, with tendencies to authoritarianism and to power centralization. Probably it would be difficult to come to produce a priest oriented to the liberator paradigm, able to implement practices from such model. In terms of ethical effects, this seminary would be producing a serialized subjectivity, subdued and aligned to the maintenance of ecclesiastical and social status quo. It seems that the future priest from such developed formation would present a major tendency to \"sacred servants\" more than to \"liberator prophets\".

Espíritos da mata: sentido e alcance psicológico do uso ritual de caboclos na Umbanda / Forest Spirits: signification and the psychological extent of caboclos ritual practice in Umbanda

Raquel Redondo Rotta 23 March 2010 (has links)
Caboclos are spiritual entities widely found in Umbanda pantheon. The aim of this study was to reveal the signification and the psychological extent of caboclos ritual practice in Umbanda. Therefore ethnographic methods and continuous attention to recurrent significants have been combined. Among these significants, some terms were repeatedly noticed as ground, light, water, root, matureness, freedom and ideal, which may carry more than one significance level by means of an image script. Caboclos, as an evidence of their social feature, manifest themselves in a close relation to mediums and to other people and spiritual entities. They interpellate their followers enlightening self-discovery processes that push the completion of potentialities in direction to selfs ideals achievement.

Olhares que narram: perspectivas umbandistas de articulação do sentido / Gazes that narrate: umbandista perspectives of significance articulation.

Raquel Redondo Rotta 29 August 2014 (has links)
Visual impact is important not only to the ways in which banto traditions are built but also to the umbandista context. And the African culture contribution in constituting the Brazilian populations ethos is expressive as well. Having that in mind, we aimed to apprehend, in umbandista communities, nuances of how meanings related to the world, the self, and the other are constructed, transmitted and understood through umbandista perspectives of significance articulation. In order to do that, the researcher assumed a position where an openness function to the Others speech was possible, which has permitted the echoing of enunciations that arose from field relations. Within the process of the researchers experience in umbadista rituals and in photographic image production, the collaborators enounced their personal experiences through images and/or words, from the symbolic material present in the cultural heritage they carry, which Lacan would denominate the Other. Considering the transference and the position occupied by the researcher in field as well as the repetitions and the intersections between the images and the sayings about them was central to expose the implicitness of this universe. The search for visual impact has been the instrument elected by the researcher who, interpreted by umbanda as a consultant, could be seen by it and thus, looking at it, be able to understand part of its dynamic. During the process, we have understood how important the gaze is in oneselfs remodeling (of each ones as well as a communitys position in the world), and that it can be developed in the umbandista context where the ancestors role and a whole symbolic repertoire related to it are highlighted. As from the results of this research, we suggest that the experience in umbanda corroborates the hypothesis that it is necessary to know, recognize and deal peacefully with our roots. We have also observed that there is a privileged space in this religion where that demand may occur in each of its rituals and in its participants daily experiences, in a way that symbolic re-combinations and reconstructions are possible both in personal and social levels.

Modo de vida e vivência do morto na tenda espírita de umbanda Pai Benedito / Way of life and experience of dead in the Pai Benedito Spiritist Umbanda Tent.

Pasqualin, Flavia Andréa 03 September 2009 (has links)
This research is a case of an umbanda worship place, the Pai Benedito Spiritist Umbanda Tent, located in the city of Jardinópolis, state of São Paulo. The study aimed, generally, to apprehend the way of life of an African-Brazilian community and specifically to identify specificities and possibilities of construction of meanings open by the resort to the cultural device that states the survival of the dead people and their participation in the social and psychological life of the people alive; to know the umbanda conceptions on this issue. The adopted method was researcher´s participation in the daily life of the group and the systematic register of the narratives involving such reports. For the analysis, no judgment was done regarding the plausibility or unlikelihood of the thesis, since the implied metaphysical-religious belief was not discussed, the study only observed and described its reach on the psychic life and social interaction. Thus, assuming the dead people participate in the social and psychic life of the group, the study aimed to comprehend how this presence among alive people creates or modules meanings and possibilities of psychic experiences, as well as how it regulates interpersonal relationships. The ethnographic method was used, permitting an observant participation by the researcher, aiming to describe the community from the inside. The oral history was used as an additional resort to listen to the oral reports. The theoretical consideration of the narrative discourse, inspired in Lacan and Bakhtin, was considered for the analysis, which enable to consider beyond the narratives. Nevertheless, it was not aimed to drain all possibilities opened by these resorts. It is concluded that the resort of the dead as significant and social interlocutor permits abundant and subtle expressive resorts, responsible to strengthen interpersonal and intergenerational ties, and to promote, simultaneously, social inclusion and psychic integration.

To reach this goal, a qualitative phenomenological research was done, based on an interview and analysis both planned and developed according to the methodological proposals of phenomenology. Since the reported experience, it was sought to understand how the unanswered request affects the religious belief. The case studied allowed to show how the unanswered request may affect the way to live faith and the manner of new meanings was built. Also was found, the importance of spiritual leaders and psychologists to follow the people who go through similar situations / O objetivo desta dissertação é compreender a experiência de pessoas religiosas que, ao passarem por situações de iminente perda, pediram, por meio da oração, que a perda não ocorresse, mas não tiveram seus pedidos atendidos.

Peacekeepers e controle do estresse nas missões de paz: um estudo das funções da religião no processo de enfrentamento / Peacekeepers and stress management in peacekeeping operations: a study of the roles of religion in the coping process

Mellagi, André Gonçalves 06 May 2016 (has links)
This study aims to investigate the coping strategies of peacekeepers, Brazilian Army\'s soldiers who participated in the contingent 15 (between 2011 and 2012) and contingent 19 (between 2013 and 2014), and in the latter the researcher participated as the psychologist of the Brazilian battalion. Since 2004, Brazil has sent troops and led the military supranational component of MINUSTAH, the UN mission to stabilize Haiti. Within six months of each contingent mobilized for the peacekeeping mission, the military face several challenges: the risk of operations, the distance from the family, the containment and other stressors inherent from this type of mission. The study focused on the analysis of coping and the meaning-making. In particular, it investigated more deeply on religious coping styles. For quantitative analysis, we used a general form for profile data collection and religious life of each participant in both continents; applied a Combat Modes Problems Scale (EMEP) and a scale of religious/spiritual coping in the short version (CRE-Brief). In the qualitative part, we collected reports of eight military chaplains who participated in the peacekeeping mission in Haiti in different contingents, whose testimony could describe the relationships of institutionalized religion practiced in military installations with religious coping and mission stressors. The analysis of the data, along with the testimony of chaplains and the experience of the researcher in the mission on the spot, revealed that coping strategies are more problem-focused. The religious coping strategies showed similarity between the contingent taken separately, but varied according categorized groups in each contingent, namely, between officers and enlisted ranks and between groups of Catholics and Pentecostals. The analysis showed greater use of positive religious coping in general in all samples, most significant use of negative religious coping among enlisted ranks and evangelical compared with officers and Catholics, as well as greater use of certain factors of religious coping, both positive and negative, in Pentecostals. Reports of military chaplains, along with the data analyzed, pointed situational characteristic of coping as a process, contextualized in the emplacement of the mission, in specific groups and in the stressors that peacekeepers face throughout the mission. The literature on stress, coping and religious coping in combat environments and peacekeeping missions indicates that the crisis raises uncertainty and helplessness perceptions, and the role of religion can both mitigate instability and benefit the individual creating sense and resilience, or harm as a stressor. Considering the myriad ways that religion plays in the coping process, enable health professionals and military chaplains a better understanding of the resilient or vulnerable senses that the military bring to mission
