Bakgrund: Sjuksköterskestudenter behöver stöd i, och förberedelse för att vårda patienter iett Palliativt skede. Vård i livets slut är ett prioriterat område. Sjuksköterskestudenternasmöte med död och döende har beskrivits väcka känslor av rädsla och ångest. Vård i livetsslutskede har visat sig ha en liten plats inom sjuksköterskeutbildningen. Studiens författarevill därför belysa vikten av att sjuksköterskeutbildningen lägger mer vikt vid undervisningkring palliativ vård. Syfte: Syftet är att beskriva sjuksköterskestudenters uppfattning av attmöta patienter i ett palliativt skede. Metod: Studien använder sig av en kvalitativinnehållsanalys med en enkätundersökning där 75 sjuksköterskestudenter i från termin trebesvarade fyra påståenden i fritext. Resultat: Resultatet redovisas med två kategorier;Sjuksköterskestudenters kunskap och erfarenhet och att vara etisk korrekt genom att visaempati vid vård i livets slut. Utifrån kategorierna skapades underkategorier angåendesjuksköterskestudenternas uppfattning av att möta patienter i ett palliativt skede. Slutsats:Erfarenheter kan vara både positiva och negativa. Att kunna vårda svårt sjuka och döendepatienter är något som förväntas av sjuksköterskor oavsett arbetsplats. Det har i ett flertalstudier påvisats att sjuksköterskestudenter behöver stöd för att kunna vårda patienter i ettpalliativt skede då det kan väcka starka känslor hos sjuksköterskestudenten. / Background: Nursing students need the support to be prepared to nurture patients in apalliative stage. End-of-life care is a demanding area. The student's encounter with death anddying has been described as causing feelings of fear and anxiety. Care at the end of life hasbeen shown to have been a small part of nursing education. The author of this study,therefore, wishes to highlight the importance of nursing education putting more emphasis onteaching about palliative care. Purpose: The purpose is to describe nursing students'perception of meeting patients in a palliative stage. Methodology: The study uses aqualitative content analysis with questionnaire survey in which 75 students from the thirdterm can answer four statements in free text. Result: The results is presented with twocategories; Nursing students knowledge and experience lead to a profession and beingethically correct by showing empathy for care at the end of life. Based on the categories,subcategories were created that describe in more detail the students' perception of meetingpatients in a palliative stage. Conclusion: The experiences can be both positive and negative.Being able to care for severely ill and dying patients is something that is expected of nursesregardless of the workplace. It has been demonstrated in a number of studies that nursingstudents need support in order to care for the patients in a palliative phase as it can bringstrong feelings to the student.

Aim: The aim of this study is to illuminate psychiatric nurses' experiences of suicide assessment in their daily work of a psychiatric inpatient ward. Background: The majority of all suicides are committed by people with some kind of psychiatric diagnosis and suicides within psychiatric hospital departments are increasing. In more than half of the cases where patients have committed suicide in the psychiatric hospital, the patient's suicidal risk assessment has failed and the patient has been able to leave the department and commit suicide. Previous research suggests that suicide risk assessments are important and nurses need more skills and time to be able to pay attention to patients' behavior. Design: This is a qualitative descriptive study based on eight individual semi-structured interviews that have been analyzed using qualitative content analysis by Lundman and Hällgren Graneheim (2012). Method: Data analysis was based on Lundman and Hällgren Graneheim (2012) description of qualitative content analysis. Semi-structured interviews with the addition of narrative questions was conducted. The participants were eight registered psychiatric nurses from four different psychiatric departments at a hospital in Västra Götaland. A male psychiatric nurse and seven female psychiatric nurses participated with at least one years of experience participated. Results: The results showed that the psychiatric nurses had difficulties defining a general suicide behavior. On the other hand, different behavior patterns were identified as more suicidal. Such patterns could be rapid twists in emotional state, strong anxiety, impulsivity and backwardness. Three categories emerged during the analysis process: Clinical Glance, Alliance Work and Experiences Collaboration and Knowledge, and all three had three related subcategories. Conclusion: The suicidal process is complex and the difficulty lies in identifying where in the process the patient is. Psychiatric nurses have responsibility identifying early signs considered by psychiatric nurses to be an important part of suicide assessment. Experience about the patient and knowledge of suicide is something that psychiatric nurses experience as significant to be able to make good suicide risk assessments.

Depuis les années 90, le Canada utilise des manuels américains traduits et adaptés pour la formation initiale en VIH/sida. Pourtant, à la lumière des écrits, nous savons qu’il existe un écart entre la formation en sciences infirmières et les compétences requises pour prodiguer des soins aux personnes vivant avec le VIH (PVVIH). Consciente de ces lacunes de la formation en VIH/sida et qui, à ce jour, n’ont pas été explorées dans le matériel pédagogique, cette étude met en relief les représentations du VIH, de la PVVIH et des soins et explore les effets de ces représentations tout en proposant des pistes de recommandations.
Un devis de recherche qualitatif, de type descriptif, convenait aux objectifs de cette étude. Étant donné la nature de la problématique et des objectifs, une analyse qualitative de contenu était appropriée et privilégiée pour orienter ce projet. La collecte des données s’est déroulée en automne 2015, par l’analyse de 18 manuels scolaires de médecine-chirurgie, utilisés dans la formation initiale.
En résumé, les résultats de cette étude ont mis en lumière les représentations du VIH, des PVVIH et des soins qui sont transmises par les manuels scolaires et ont permis d’exposer le type de connaissances, d’attitudes potentielles et éventuelles et de soins qu’engendrent ces sources textuelles. Par l’entremise de ce projet de recherche, il a été possible de proposer des pistes de solutions afin de pallier aux lacunes des manuels scolaires et améliorer le contenu de ces textes en accordant une attention particulière aux connaissances, attitudes et soins que ce contenu peut produire.

Qualitative Content Analysis Examining the Biomechanical Implications of Curling and Keybedding in the Taubman ApproachSabo, Jeffrey 05 January 2021 (has links)
Many pianists are impacted by playing-related pain and injury, but a great deal is still
unknown about the development and prevention of these problems. Several approaches to piano technique have been developed to provide technical recommendations based on scientific ideas. The anecdotal success of some approaches suggests that understanding the biomechanical concepts underlying them may be beneficial. However, these approaches are rarely discussed in the literature, in part due to linguistic inconsistencies among pedagogical and scientific disciplines. This has created obstacles to scientific evaluation of the claims made by pedagogues,
and it has limited the degree to which knowledge transfer can occur among different fields. One approach that has been anecdotally successful in alleviating and preventing playing-related problems is the Taubman Approach, which aims in part to identify certain “sources of tension” that may increase the likelihood of developing physical problems.
This study used Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA) to examine sources on the Taubman Approach in order to identify claims about biomechanics underlying two different “Sources of tension:” “Curling” and “Keybedding.” The results from each QCA were then used to propose a biomechanical explanation of these concepts in language that is consistent with current scientific literature. The results of the analysis on “Curling” suggest that actively flexing the DIP/PIP joints requires activating multiarticular muscles, which can lead to increased muscle contraction,
forces, and stiffness across multiple degrees of freedom when playing. Motions and positions proposed by the Taubman Approach as alternatives to “Curling” were also examined. The results of the analysis on “Keybedding” indicated that using excess fingertip force once the key is depressed may be problematic. Relevant aspects of the piano mechanism were identified, as well as recommendations for the proper setup at the keyboard that may impact muscle contraction, forces, and stiffness once playing begins. Subjective terms were analyzed to differentiate biomechanical aspects of the recommended way to keep the key depressed from other ways that may be problematic. The hand and forearm were said to have an important role in generating the necessary fingertip force to keep the key depressed without using excessive muscle contraction across the finger joints. Both analyses also identified technical and physical problems that may be relevant to each concept. The findings in this study yielded insights into important issues related to the terminology used to describe piano technique in different contexts. These insights included the need for clear differentiation between subjective and objective language, as well as the need for understanding pedagogical language in context before knowledge transfer can occur.

Many environmental organisations are trying to counter the negative effects of climate change. The film- and television industry are increasingly becoming the focus of attention, because, although it repeatedly advocates sustainability, it often gets lost in its own productions. The presentation of sustainability is often not visible or clearly recognizable by the viewer. Cooking shows are often criticised by the public for being environmentally friendly in terms of food waste.The goal of this research is to determine how sustainability is presented in cooking shows in Germany and the USA. For this purpose, the following research question is asked: How is sustainability framed in the television cooking series MasterChef US and Germany? And is there a difference between those two countries?The theoretical framework is presented by the framing theory of Erving Goffmann (1974), with the use of this approach sustainability was framed in TV shows and used for the analysis and its results. To answer the research question, a qualitative content analysis was carried out, which analyses both the German and the American version of MasterChef in 2018/2019. The research was divided into indirect and direct events. The results of the study show that the German MasterChef included significantly more sustainable topics than the American one. This confirms that there is a significant difference in the cooking shows between the two countries.

What Happened Last Night in Sweden? Analysis of Western news media portrayal of crime in SwedenHesson, Leila January 2019 (has links)
Background: The media have an influential role within society and with media becoming increasingly more accessible over a number of different platforms it is important to comprehend what information is being received by audiences in order to then understand the consequences. Sweden has a reputation of being one of the most reputable countries, however a new, less flattering image has been emerging. There is a growing interest in what is happening in Sweden, especially since US President Donald Trump made his illusive comments in February 2017. Aim: The aim of this study is to explore how news sources in the Western world portray crime in Sweden. Two central questions are examined, (1) what crimes in Sweden are reported in western newspapers, and (2) what are the dominant themes in western newspaper’s discussions of crime in Sweden? Method: Qualitative content analysis was employed to evaluate 249 newspaper articles gathered through NewsBank database. Content of these articles became data which was coded via a data-driven coding frame. Data was partially double coded in an attempt to check consistency. Results: Part one results find that the most popular crime type in Western media crime in Sweden reports are violent crimes. A total of 111 articles in the sample written exclusively about specific events, 76 of which are violent offences. Part two of results explores the broader discourse. Conclusion: The focus on violent crimes is linked to a political discussion surrounding growing support for populist politics. The predominant narratives are, that immigration is to blame for rising crime levels, and Sweden’s identity crisis.

The aim of this paper is to examine how Swedish newspaper articles portrayed domestic violence during the corona pandemic and to identify the risks of increased domestic violence depicted in the media. The study is based on the qualitative content analysis of 32 newspaper articles published between March 11th and April 15th 2020. Social constructivism theory, intersectional theory and framing theory were used in order to gain a deeper understanding of the results. The victims were in most articles described as women or women and children. The perpetrator of violence was referred to in half of the articles as male and in half just as the perpetrator. The articles were mainly described from a women's aid framework. Three central themes explaining the risks of increased violence were identified; isolation, a strained position for social resources and financial stress and anxiety.

Audience Engagement on Twitter: The Rijneveld Translation ControversyGurwin, Laura January 2021 (has links)
Much research exists on cancel culture and cultural gatekeeping. However, there is little research on more recent examples of cancel culture stemming from the Netherlands. The current study sought to examine how active Twitter users have responded to what I have titled, the Rijneveld translation controversy on Twitter. This controversy involves questions of racism or reverse racism after a Dutch White translator, Marieke Lucas Rijneveld, reversed their decision to translate works of the African-American writer, Amanda Gorman after receiving much backlash from the public. This was followed by debates on Twitter causing an uproar. Therefore, the objective of this study was to examine the different issue- frames tweeted about by active Twitter users through a qualitative content analysis. In order to inquire into the opinions addressed at various stages of the controversy, tweets were collected over the course of three different time periods. A general observation was that a majority of Twitter users were upset by the pushback Rijneveld received and even regarded the situation as an example of “reverse racism” and radical wokeism. Moreover, several different actors/stakeholders were targeted or “called-out” by the “Twitter mob,” including the Dutch journalist, Janice Deul who led part of the pushback against Rijneveld. These issues are substantially less about the art and craft of translation and reflect a broader societal issue that Twitter users felt a need to address through this controversy.
