Our goal was to include him in the Brazilian group of artists of the twentieth century who dealt equally with transcendental issues. We also tried to demonstrate that Quintana s refection doesn t derive only from his symbolist inheritance but also from all his philosophical, religious and literary readings, and mainly from his human curiosity in the contemplation of existential issues. In these texts, the mode of expression of the gaucho author reveals peculiar traits of his personality like irony and humor, fundamental tools to express the anxieties resulting from the lack of answers to the world s enigmas. / A partir da Poesia completa (2005) de Mario Quintana, reuniu-se um significativo n?mero de poemas de teor metaf?sico e ontol?gico com o objetivo de apresentar as indaga??es do poeta acerca da exist?ncia de Deus e do sentido do mundo, da vida e da morte, com o intuito de inclu?-lo no grupo de artistas brasileiros do s?culo XX, igualmente ocupados com os temas transcendentais. Buscou-se demonstrar que essa reflex?o de Quintana n?o decorre unicamente da sua forma??o simbolista, mas de todas as suas leituras filos?ficas, religiosas e liter?rias e, sobretudo, da sua curiosidade humana na contempla??o das quest?es existenciais. O modo de express?o do autor ga?cho, nesses textos, traz ? tona tra?os peculiares da sua personalidade, como a ironia e o humor, ferramentas fundamentais para exprimir as ang?stias resultantes da impossibilidade de respostas para os enigmas do mundo.

Estuda sobre as relações entre a literatura e a mídia na construção do sujeito leitor. Analisa uma experiência realizada nos anos 2006, no âmbito escolar, nos anos de 2007 e 2008 fora da escola, dando ênfase ao entrelace da teoria e prática, a partir da perspectiva teórica da psicologia do desenvolvimento de Lev Vygotsky, a perspectiva dialógica discursiva de Mikhail Bakhtin e a teoria do efeito estético de Wolfgang Iser, no viés da sociologia da leitura, a partir de Roger Chartier. Traça-se um breve histórico da leitura com Regina Zilberman, Marisa Lalojo e Ezequiel Silva. Nos recursos midiáticos agrega-se José Manuel Moran, como teórico para análise das mídias quanto ao seu espaço na sala de aula e sua efetiva relação interdisciplinar com a literatura. / Studies the relationship between literature and media in the construction of the subject reader. Levando em consideração principalmente a teoria de Johan Huizinga sobre o jogo e a poesia, analisamos poemas de Prévert e de Quintana tentando apontar as diferenças e as semelhanças do processo lúdico em ambos. Consideramos ainda a influência que o movimento surrealista exerce sobre os dois poetas estudados e a ligação deste movimento com o jogo. Iniciamos esta pesquisa utilizando o livro Homo ludens de Huizinga e, posteriormente, intentamos fazer um percurso sobre a teoria do jogo. Consideramos, inicialmente, a Crítica da faculdade do juízo de Kant e A educação estética do homem de Schiller e a contribuição de ambos para o início de uma efetiva teorização sobre o jogo. Levamos em conta ainda, as considerações de Umberto Eco e de Roger Caillois, no que estes podiam acrescentar à teoria de Huizinga, além das aproximações entre poesia e mito apontadas por Ernst Cassirer. Desse modo, embasados nessas proposições teóricas, pensamos ter encontrado uma intersecção entre poesia e jogo e tê-la utilizado como principal elemento de comparação entre os dois poetas acima mencionados / It is this work’s goal to compare the poetry of Jacques Prévert and Mario Quintana based on the ludic elements which, for us, both of them present. Considering especially Johan Huizinga’s theory about the play and the poetry, we analyzed poems of Prévert and Quintana, in which we pointed the differences and similarities of the ludic process in both poets. We also considered the fact that both poets were influenced by the surrealistic movement and the connection between this movement and the concept of play. In the start of this research we used Huizinga’s Homo ludens, and then we analyzed the trajectory of the theory of play – through Kant’s Crítica da faculdade do juízo and Schiller’s A educação estética do homem, books which have a great contribution to an effective theorization of play. We also studied the commentaries of Umberto Eco and Roger Caillois, considering what they can add on Huizinga’s theory. At last we analyzed the approximations between poetry and myth pointed by Ernst Cassirer. So, through this theoretical propositions, we can conclude that there is an intersection between poetry and play – and it was our objective to compare Prévert’s and Quintana’s poetry considering this intersection

Poética de Mario Quintana: uma teoria recortada a partir do Caderno H

Críticos e poetas de todos os tempos, da Antiguidade à contemporaneidade, têm formulado teorias a respeito do fenômeno literário poético, com o intuito de compreendê-lo melhor e aperfeiçoá-lo. Mario Quintana não é um deles. O poeta alegretense é avesso a todo tipo de enquadramento e definição poética: não deixou estudos, artigos ou tratados que abordassem a poesia teoricamente. Por outro lado, como muitos poetas contemporâneos, Quintana trata do fenômeno poético ao longo de sua obra. O objetivo da presente pesquisa é recortar uma teoria poética quintaniana a partir de seus textos do Caderno H, obra singular do autor, que apresenta diversos elementos para se pensar a poesia. On the other hand, as many contemporary poets, Quintana deals with the poetic phenomenon throughout his composition. The objective of this research is to set up a Quintana´s poetic theory over his texts from Caderno H, a remarkable book, which presents several factors to think about poetry. It´s possible to configure this theory through the comparison of these texts with founding texts of philosophers, critics and poets, selected for their contribution in that regard.

Comparison of the Humoral Immune Response following Both Bacterial Challenge and RNAi of Major Factors on Proliferation of Bartonella quintana in the Human Louse

Human body lice, Pediculus humanus humanus, and head lice, Pediculus humanus capitis, have been hematophagous ectoparasites of humans for thousands of years. Despite being ecotypes, only body lice are known to transmit bacterial diseases to humans, and it appears that lower humoral and cellular immune responses allow body lice to possess a higher vector competence. We previously observed that the transcription level of the defensin 1 gene was up-regulated only in head lice following oral challenge of Bartonella quintana, a causative agent of trench fever, and also that body lice excreted more viable B. quintana in their feces. In this study, we first investigated this differential immune response by performing RNAi to knockdown defensin 1 by dsRNA injection. B. quintana was orally infected 72 h after injection and proliferation was compared at 2 hours (day 0) and day 4 post-infection. At day 0, bacterial cell numbers increased 1.5-fold in defensin 1 (Def1(-)) knocked down head lice compared with non-knocked down, pQE30-dsRNA injected, head lice control. At day 4, Def1(-) knocked down head lice had 2.55-fold more bacterial cells than control head lice and 1.65-fold greater than body lice, indicating that defensin 1 was active in reducing B. quintana cell number in non-knocked down head lice. Second, the levels of cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by the epithelial cells of the alimentary tract were measured using two general indictors of ROS in both body and head lice at day 1 and day 4 following B. quintana challenge. Challenged body lice showed a 42% and 34% increase in ROS, whereas head lice showed a 70% and 22% increase at day 1 using CM-H2DCFDA and HPF as general indicators, respectively. On day 4, all challenged lice showed similar ROS levels except for body lice which maintained their ROS levels (40% increase using CM-H2DCFDA). Head lice are likely to have multiple immune and/or non-immune factors that suppress B. quintana proliferation, and the production of sustained ROS levels and/or the single knockdown of Defensin 1 is not enough to increase B. quintana proliferation in head lice to that seen in body lice.
