Vývoj obchodních stezek Maky v období helénistických říší a na počátku principátu / Development of trade routes in Maka during the Hellenistic period and in the early Principate

Kocna, Jan January 2019 (has links)
Jan KOCNA, Development of trade routes in Maka during the Hellenistic period and in the early Principate, master's thesis, FF UK, Prague 2019 This master's thesis aims to analyse the trade routes network of ancient Maka during the last three c. BC and first c. AD. In the course of this time frame the discussed region, covering the majority of land area of the contemporary United Arab Emirates and the northern Oman, enjoyed the benefits of a wide range of various cross-cultural and commercial contacts and constituted a key junction between India, Mesopotamia and Arabia proper. In a phased manner, the individual chapters will introduce each of the different elements contributing to the structure of the whole trade apparatus, and, on the basis of available (e. g. archaeological) data, attempt to designate the character of the position of specific Makan centers within the broader system of long-distance trade mechanisms. Both long-distance trade transformation processes emanating from the constant changes in Makan political vicinity and reorientation of originally mostly caravan driven trade to the maritime one will be brought into consideration. The observed phenomena will include variation in the arrangement of central import/export markets, or successive adjustments of the basic commodity groups and...

Design för snabbcykelvägar : Ett designkoncept för snabbcykelvägar i Stockholmsregionen / Design for fast cycling routes : A design concept for fast cycling routes in the region of Stockholm

Gradin, Emma January 2016 (has links)
From 2010 to 2014, regional and state organizations in the region of Stockholm have developed an EU-finnanced project named SATSA II - regional cykelstrategi (regional bicycling strategy). The strategy aims to increase the number of citizens commuting by bicycle in the region and develop a new intermunicipal infrastructure for fast bicycling. By providing a network of fast cycling routes on a regional scale, called “snabbcykelvägar”, the strategy promotes a shift towards more sustainable transport for the citizens of Stockholm county. The new regional network of bicycle routes have strategically been placed to pass by local centres, transport nodes, larger working areas and universities. The purpose of this master thesis is to develop a design concept for fast cycling routes (snabbcyelvägar) in the region of Stockholm. The design concept have been developed through the vision of the ‘good bicycling experience’. To define what it is that provides a ‘good bicycling experience’, physical, environmental and spatial aspects have been studied through empirical research and through relevant theories found in the research field of environemnetal psycology and semiotics. The aspects that provides a ‘good bicycling environment’ has been structured into three criterias. The criterias are: safety, continuity and likeability (attractivity). The three criterias has further been transformed in to designprincipals which are presented in a toolbox. The toolbox is the result of the study and can be used by planners and architects to design a regional network of cycling routes that provides a good expereince for the present and future bicycle commuters in the region of Stockholm (see Toolbox 2, p. 65).

Oxidative dyhydrogenation of propane and butane to olefins using Co(5)MgA/O catalyst

Majoe, Nampe 04 1900 (has links)
Olefins have enjoyed many uses in a wide variety of industries, from car manufacturing to energy production. Energy consuming processes of catalytic dehydrogenation, turning paraffins into olefins, has been commercialised since the early 20th century, while catalytic oxydehydrogenation of paraffins to olefins is still in prototype stages. The conflict between kinetic and thermodynamic yield constraints, has delayed the commercialisation of this process. The solution to achieving the relevant process route is exploitation of the right catalyst at moderate temperatures and pressures. Co5MgAlO is studied under atmospheric pressure and 350°C temperature, to dehydrogenate propane and butane to olefins using oxygen as a reactant. Thermodynamic models showing how many reaction routes are possible under atmospheric pressure were explored. Experimental results for butane to air at ratio of 1:0.8 and 1:1.2 hydrocarbons to air gave better selectivity of 1-butene which was more than 12%. When compared with propane at similar reaction ratios the reaction favoured CO2 at selectivity of more than 95%. / Civil and Chemical Engineering / M.Tech. (Chemical Engineering)
