Sistemática para avaliação da substituição de ativos no setor aeroportuário

O setor aeroportuário apresentou forte crescimento nos últimos anos, ressaltando as ineficiências na gestão de sua infraestrutura e de seus ativos, especialmente no Brasil. Assim, com a exaustão das técnicas tradicionais para a redução de custos, as empresas necessitam buscar melhorias apoiadas no uso de métodos mais complexos a fim de aumentar a produtividade de seus ativos. Desta forma, desponta a necessidade de modelos para a identificação da vida útil e análise da substituição econômica de ativos, uma vez que estas informações auxiliam na tomada de decisão e conduzem a melhores planos de manutenção, reduzindo as perdas do processo. Assim sendo, este trabalho tem por objetivo propor e aplicar uma sistemática para avaliação da substituição de ativos no setor aeroportuário, apoiado em modelos adequados às especificidades do setor através do estudo das suas variáveis. Para isto, são identificados os elementos que influenciam na vida útil dos ativos e, posteriormente, modelos de identificação de vida útil e substituição econômica de ativos são propostos e aplicados em um aeroporto brasileiro de grande porte. Pode-se concluir que a sistemática produziu resultados consistentes e que auxiliam a decisão de substituição de ativos de uma forma estruturada. / In the past years, an increase in aviation transport can be noticed and it highlights inefficiencies in asset management, especially in Brazil. Hence, the exhaustion of traditional techniques to cost reduction lead companies to seek improvements supported by more complex methods in order to increase productivity of their assets. Thus, it is crucial to develop models for useful life identification and economic replacement of assets, since these information assist the decision making process and lead to better maintenance plans, reducing wastage. As a result, the main objective of this work is develop and apply a systematic for evaluation of asset replacement in airports, supported by models that consider the specificities of the aviation sector and its particular variables. In this direction, elements that influence assets useful life are identified and, then, models for useful life identification and economic replacement of assets are developed and applied in an important Brazilian airport. It can be concluded that the systematic have produced consistent results and can assist in asset replacement decision in a structured form.

Reluctant Europeans : A Study of Brexit and Its Origin in the Classical Liberal Tradition / Motvilliga Européer : En Studie av Brexit och Dess Ursprung i den Klassiska Liberala Traditionen

Brexit, a highly contested issue, sparked discussion on the future of not only the United Kingdom but also the European Union and its role as a political actor. The attempts to explain the phenomena have been plentiful, and within the discipline of political science, the discussion largely focuses on the political preferences of different identity groups. Brexit tends to be associated with European right-wing populism, Trump, and a cultural backlash towards liberal values. This study argues that this is far too strong of a simplification and that Brexit has deeper causes which cannot strictly be attributed to modern political trends. Britain has historically had great difficulties with its post-war role in Europe, and its reluctance to commit itself to Europe is far older than what current literature assumes. The study theorises that the preconditions for Brexit lie in the divergence of French and English liberalism and established that the UK is in far more agreement on the role of the EU in UK politics than at first glance. The Conflict lies between the UK and the EU, not within the UK itself, specifically how apolitical structure is made legitimate, and what it means to be a reluctant member of Europe.

Processus décisionnel à l’égard du maintien au travail des préposés aux bénéficiaires face à la crise de la COVID-19 dans les centres d’hébergement de soins de longue durée à Montréal

L’objectif de notre étude était de comprendre les difficultés rencontrées par les PAB au cours de la crise de la COVID-19, et aussi comment ces problèmes ont influé leur maintien au travail dans les CHSLD de Montréal du 23 février au 11 juillet 2020. 11 PAB appartenant à trois (3) catégories ont été sélectionnés selon un échantillonnage en boule de neige. Un guide d’entrevue construit sur le modèle de Tourangeau et al. (2010) et celui de la conciliation emploi-famille-vie personnelle proposée par Duxbury et Higgins (2003) a permis de recueillir des données à l’aide d’entrevues semi-dirigées. Elles ont été réalisées entre octobre et décembre 2021 et une analyse thématique des données selon la méthode proposée par Braun et Clarke (2006) a été réalisée. Les résultats de notre étude montrent que l’intention de quitter l’emploi au cours de la période concernée était influencée par le cercle vicieux du bris de service impliquant une surexploitation des PAB, des pressions physiques et psychologiques, un épuisement au travail, un stress aigu ajouté à des émotions négatives. En plus de cela, les mauvaises conditions de travail, les enjeux éthiques spécifiques à la pandémie de la COVID-19, mais également le manque de reconnaissance et de valorisation du métier de PAB, au moment de l’apogée de la pénurie de la main-d’œuvre et les difficultés de conciliation emploi-famille-vie personnelle ont fortement contribué au retrait du travail de certaines PAB. A contrario, l’intention de rester en emploi était plus influencée par des facteurs individuels tels que le volontarisme, la satisfaction morale et l’attachement affectif au métier et des facteurs contextuels tels que le soutien perçu de l’organisation et/ou du gouvernement du Québec. Le réseau des CHSLD initialement fragilisés par la pénurie de main-d’œuvre et la précarisation des emplois de PAB a davantage été affaibli par la crise de la COVID-19 qui a accentué la pénurie de main-d’œuvre. L’amélioration des politiques de rétention des PAB passe par une sélection plus rigoureuse en tenant compte des motivations des candidates au métier, une amélioration des conditions de travail et une meilleure valorisation du métier de PAB. / Our study aims to understand the obstacles encountered by PAB during the COVID-19 crisis and how these influenced their work retention in Montreal's CHSLDs from February 23 to July 11, 2020. Three (3) categories of PAB were selected according to a snowball sampling. An interview guide based on the Tourangeau et al. model (2010) and the work-life balance model proposed by Duxbury and Higgins (2003) was used to collect data through semi-structured interviews conducted between October and December 2021. A thematic analysis was performed using the method suggested by Braun and Clarke (2006). The results of our study show that the intention to leave the job during the period concerned was influenced not only by the vicious circle of service breakdown involving overexploitation of the PAB, physical and psychological pressures, burnout at work, acute stress added to negative emotions. In addition to this, poor working conditions, ethical issues specific to the COVID-19 pandemic, but also the lack of recognition and valuing of the PAB profession at the time of the summit of the workforce shortage and the challenges of reconciling work and family life have enormously contributed to the resignation from the work of some of them. On the other hand, the intention to remain employed was more influenced by individual factors such as voluntarism, moral satisfaction and emotional attachment to the job and contextual factors such as the perceived support of the organization and the Quebec government. The CHSLD network, initially weakened by the labour shortage and the precariousness of PAB jobs was further deteriorated by the COVID-19 crisis, which increased the demand for PAB. The improvement of the retention policies for PAB requires a more rigorous selection process that considers the candidates' motivations for the job, a modification of the working conditions, and a better promotion of the PAB job.

Para tanto, entendemos, segundo Gastón Bachelard (2002) que toda poética deve receber componentes de essência material, dentre os quais, para a obra de Camilo Pessanha, a água é o mais significativo de tais elementos. As imagens, na obra do poeta, apresentam-se fragmentadas e fugidias e, sendo assim, revela-se, por parte do sujeito poético, além da consciência da efemeridade das coisas, um desejo de fixar na forma estética o instante em que as imagens poéticas são percebidas. Pretendemos investigar, na obra do poeta, de que modo a água, matéria estética fundamental para sua poética, é trabalhada, dentre outros expedientes utilizados, para representar o aspecto fugidio da realidade, para atingir o adensamento da matéria e a permanência, a fixação do instante poético / Abstract: This paper proposes an approach to recurrent aquatic images in several poems in the work of Portuguese poet Camilo Pessanha. For this, we understand, according Gaston Bachelard (2002) that all components should receive poetic essence of material, among which, for the work of Camilo Pessanha, water is the most significant of such factors. The images in the work of the poet, if present fragmented and fleeting and, therefore, it is revealed by the poetic subject, beyond the consciousness of the transience of things, a desire to fix the aesthetic form the moment when the poetic images are perceived. Entre as opções disponíveis para as pequenas e médias empresas, destaca-se o desenvolvimento de relacionamentos cooperativos do tipo redes horizontais de empresas. A literatura tem documentado uma série de ganhos ou benefícios decorrentes dessa forma de organização da atividade econômica. Para esta tese, considera-se que os ganhos competitivos isoladamente não garantem o sucesso das redes horizontais, isto é, a sua continuidade por tempo indeterminado. Além dos ganhos competitivos, incluemse nesta tese a confiança e a satisfação com a rede como fatores que influenciam a intenção de permanência de empresas em redes horizontais. A questão da confiança interorganizacional, apesar de amplamente discutida, tem se limitado ao campo teórico com poucos estudos empíricos desenvolvidos em redes horizontais de empresas. Outra lacuna teórica identificada é a ausência de estudos que considerem a satisfação com a rede e a intenção de empresas permanecerem nas redes. Com base no exposto, o objetivo desta tese é analisar como a confiança, os ganhos competitivos e a satisfação com a rede influenciam a intenção das empresas permanecerem em redes horizontais varejistas. A comparação de modelos, por meio de equações estruturais, indicou que o modelo originalmente proposto representava mais adequadamente a relação entre os constructos. Dessa forma, a partir do modelo original, foram suportadas as hipóteses que indicavam a influência (positiva) i) (H1a, H1b, H1c, H1d) da confiança sobre os ganhos competitivos (ganhos econômicos, relações sociais, legitimidade e aprendizagem e inovação); ii) (H2a) dos ganhos econômicos sobre satisfação com a rede; iii) (H4) da confiança sobre a intenção de permanência na rede; e iv) (H5) da satisfação com a rede sobre a intenção de permanência na rede. Conjuntamente, os resultados desta tese mostram que a confiança, os ganhos econômicos e a satisfação com a rede são os fatores que determinam a intenção das empresas permanecerem em redes horizontais varejistas. / The increase of competition between companies has led them to develop organizational models that differ from the dichotomy make/buy. Among the options available to small and medium enterprises, the development of cooperative horizontal networks can be highlighted. The literature has documented several gains or benefits of this kind of organization of economic activity. In this thesis, it is considered that the competitive gains alone do not guarantee success of horizontal networks, namely their continuity indefinitely. Besides the competitive gains, in the present work, trust and satisfaction with the network are considered as influence factors for the intention of permanence of companies in horizontal networks. The issue of interorganizational trust, though widely discussed, has been limited to theoretical studied with few empirical studies developed in horizontal networks of companies. Another theoretical gap identified is the lack of studies that consider the companies’ satisfaction with the network and intention to remain in the networks. In this context, this thesis aims to analyze how trust, competitive gains and satisfaction with the network influence the companies to remain in retailers horizontal networks. The comparison between models, through structural equations, showed that the originally proposed model represented more adequately the proposed relationships between constructs. Thus, from the original model, were supported hypotheses which indicated the influence (positive) i) (H1a, H1b, H1c, H1d) of trust over the competitive gains (economic gains, social relations, legitimacy and learning and innovation); ii) (H2a) of economic gains over satisfaction with the network; iii) (H4) of trust over the intention to remain in the network; and iv) (H5) of satisfaction with the network over the intention to stay in the network. Together, the results of this thesis show that trust, economic gains and satisfaction with the network are the factors that determine the intention of the companies remain in retailers horizontal networks.

A dissertação procura estabelecer os fundamentos constitucionais e legais do princípio da cooperação no processo civil, descrevendo-o como um princípio constitucional implícito, decorrente do princípio da solidariedade (art. 3, I, CF/1988), da isonomia (art. 5., caput, CF/1988), do acesso à ordem jurídica justa (art. 5., XXXV, CF/1988), do devido processo legal (art. 5., LIV, CF/1988), do contraditório, da ampla defesa (art. 5., LV, CF/1988) e da duração razoável do processo (art. 5., LXXVIII, CF/1988). O trabalho procura demonstrar que o princípio da cooperação é a ideia base de vários dispositivos do Código de Processo Civil (CPC) de 1973 e do Projeto do Novo CPC, entre eles o art. 339 do CPC/1973 e aqueles que disciplinam a exibição de documento ou coisa. A dissertação procura estabelecer os limites do princípio da cooperação existentes no ordenamento jurídico brasileiro, em especial o direito à privacidade (art. 5., X, CF/1988) e o direito ao silêncio (art. 5., LXIII, CF/1988). Internally displaced persons remaining in camps : A case study of internally displaced persons in Sri Lanka

ABSTRACT Internally displaced persons remaining in camps - who are they, why do they stay? A case study of internally displaced persons in Sri Lanka Essay in Political Science C, by Rebecka Johansson, fall 2004 This essay is a case study of internally displaced persons in camps in the district of Vavunyia in northern Sri Lanka. The main question was; Why do some internally displaced persons remain in camps when many displaced people already have settled elsewhere? The aim of this study was to examine why some people stay in camps even after a ceasefire agreement has been signed and though many people already have settled. The literature on solutions of conflict-induced displacement is not conceptually rich or theoretically exact. Therefore this study also tried to make a model for analysing why some individuals remain in camps. The model is based on the political scientist Robert Dahl theories on “political resources”. The concept used in this essay is “personal resources”. The personal resources examined were social situations and land and property ownerships and political and legal rights. The study assumes from the hypothesis that the remaining people in camps lack these personal resources which are of importance for their ability and motivation to settle outside the camps. The personal resources have been divided into structural and agential factors. The result of this study suggests that the given hypothesis was right; the remaining displaced persons lack most of the examined personal resources. Their social situation was characterised by low status, small social network in the place they fled from, low education and unskilled work. A majority of the displaced who remained in the camps were landless. Until recently their legal right to choose settlement was restricted. The only personal resource that the majority of the displaced possessed was the political right to vote. The lack of personal resources affects both the displaced persons’ ability and motivation to find a durable solution. Worthy to note is that it is impossible to draw clear distinctions between what is to be seen as agential and structural factors. Landlessness which in the introduction was categorised as a structural factor was proved to also constitute an agential factor as it affects people’s motivation to return. The study shows that the circumstances surrounding internally displaced persons are complex and constitute many obstacles to their possibility to find permanent settlements. The most obvious factors, like not having any place to return to and deprivation of the legal rights of choice of settlement, can be the most important explanations.

The use of language as an influencing tool in leadership : a way of understanding Brexit

Abstract New nationalist ideologies have permeated politics for the last decade. New leaders, followers, and conducive environments have emerged to cause the most controversial and unique episodes in recent politics. Brexit was selected by having a set of exclusive characteristics, factors, and social elements which resulted in the UK leaving the EU after 47 years. Additionally, two academic attributes were considered to be politically researched, which were leadership and communication techniques. The former established the relationship between two parts of society (leaders and followers) and how their roles developed during the Brexit referendum campaign, and the latter examined political language by extracting the most representative rhetorical means used by the British leaders to run it.   The set of rhetorical techniques was thoroughly investigated using a specially adopted analysis. Several examples were included in how they were performed politically and strategically to create that democratic result. To execute this study, we developed qualitative research based on a study case strategy, descriptive purpose, and by having an inductive approach. Consequently, we selected a sampling method which met specific research criteria and allowed us to analyse this political phenomenon rhetorically. Besides, our empirical data was formed by using interactive and visual material which provided a credible source of study to approach, identify, and answer our research questions. Finally, Brexit’s outcome was viewed as the end of an era in terms of faith in the benefits of globalisation, open labour markets, European integration (Norris and Inglehart, 2019), loss of identity from British individuals, and the reflection of a fractured society (Gherghina and O’Malley, 2019).
