Development of New Model-based Methods in ASIC Requirements Engineering

Onuoha, Chukwuma Onuoha 25 January 2022 (has links)
Requirements in the development of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) continue to increase. This leads to more complexities in handling and processing the requirements, which often causes inconsistencies in the requirments. To better manage the resulting complexities, ASIC development is evolving into a model-based process. This thesis is part of a continuing research into the application and evolution of a model-based process for ASIC development at the Robert Bosch GmbH. It focuses on providing methologies that enable tracing of ASIC requirements and specifications as part of a model-based development process to eliminate inconsistencies in the requirements. The question of what requirements are and, what their traceability means, is defined and analysed in the context of their relationships to models. This thesis applies requirements engineering (RE) practices to the processing of ASIC requirements in a development environment. This environment is defined by availability of tools which are compliant with some standards and technologies. Relying on semi-formal interviews to understand the process in this environment and what stakeholders expect, this thesis applies the standards and technologies with which these tools are compliant to provide methodologies that ensures requirements traceability. Effective traceability methods were proven to be matrices and tables, but for cases of fewer requirements (ten or below), requirement diagrams are also efficient and effective. Furthermore, the development process as a collaborative effort was shown to be enhanced by using the resulting tool-chain, when the defined methodologies are properly followed. This solution was tested on an ASIC concept development project as a case study.

Requirements specification for PressCise : A study of the material mechanical properties of the No.14001 bandage

PEHRSSON, ANNA, LARSSON, SOFIA January 2014 (has links)
Varicose veins is a condition, which affects numerous people. The condition is mostly not harmful but aesthetically unappreciated. Therefore many people choose to have them surgically removed. After the surgery is completed, the leg is bandaged, this for creating an ideal healing environment, without any complications occurring. It is important that a uniform pressure is distributed evenly along the bandaged leg, because high or low pressure can cause complications which prolongs healing. During the bandaging it is difficult to achieve an even pressure since the pressure varies due to the shape of the leg and who is bandaging the leg. PressCise has developed a compression bandage with a guide along the bandage, so that each bandaging will give the same pressure upon the leg. The bandage is designed after a specific mathematical formula that is derived from the law of Laplace. This means that no matter how thick or thin the leg is at different points, the pressure will distribute itself evenly over the entire bandaged leg. PressCise aims to obtain a CE-mark for the product before a launch. An analysis of demands and a wide test study therefor needs to be carried out. Demands and requirements for the product from different laws and regulations have been observed in order to determine which tests are necessary to execute. At this stage PressCise also needs to evaluate different parameters. To begin with, they need to see how the bandage behaves in different types of treatments, and secondly they need to evaluate the properties in order to give the correct information concerning usage and durability advices. In this report, a survey of the competitors was conducted in order to estimate which standards and tests the competitors are marketing their products with. An examination of the requirements of the product from the PressCise, CE marking and laws will be study, to see which demands and regulations lies upon the bandage. In this report a minor test study will be executed, where the product will go through a washing test, an abrasion test and a hysteresis test. The report will conclude with a requirement specification for the current product and its launching. / Program: Textilingenjörsutbildningen

Tjänsteupphandling i offentlig verksamhet : En studie av kravspecifikationens roll / Service procurement in the public sector : A study of the requirement specification

Siverbo, Sofia, Augustsson, Hanna January 2012 (has links)
Background: In recent years, the public procurement has increased in importance and it now represents about 17 percent of Sweden's GDP. It is important that the public procurement is carried out effectively and due to this the requirement specification plays an important role in the process. A good requirement specification is a condition for that the purchasing authority receives tenders that correspond to what they want; while a lack of such may have major implications for the outcome of the procurement. However, it is a complex task to draw up requirements for a service, whose particular characteristics make it more difficult to define than a commodity. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to create an understanding of the requirement specification's role in the public service procurement. More specifically, the study aims to examine what the conditions are to work out a good requirement specification and the consequences a lack of such may have for the outcome of the procurement. Method: With a qualitative approach and through personal interviews, the purchasers view of the importance and difficulty of the requirement specification has been examined in this study. Four semi-structured personal interviews were conducted with four senior purchasers from four different public organizations - two counties and two municipalities. Results: The findings of this study indicate that good knowledge about the market and awareness of the organization’s needs is important for the formulation of a relevant requirement specification. A relevant and good requirement specification counteract high transaction costs and increase the possibility of delivery of the, by the organization, requested and needed service. Further, this research imply that it is more important for the requirement specification to be relevant and clear than to be detailed, and that function based specifications have many benefits.

Reikalavimų specifikavimo šablonų pagrindu analizė ir programinis prototipas / Analysis of requirements specification using templates and programme prototype

Zinkevičius, Egidijus 04 March 2009 (has links)
Reikalavimų inžinerija yra bene svarbiausias etapas informacinės sistemos kūrime. Tik tikslus reikalavimų specifikavimo proceso valdymas leis sėkmingai projektuoti, realizuoti ir įdiegti informacines sistemas kompiuterizuojamose srityse. Dažnai neefektyvus reikalavimų rinkimo procesas tampa projekto nesėkmės ar programinės įrangos defekto pagrindu. Be to, aptiktų netikslumų pašalinimo kaina kyla eksponentiškai, kai jie atrandami vėlyvosiose projekto stadijose. / The usage of computers takes more important place in our modern life. It was noticed that more and more enterprises use requirement management tools and specification templates to increase quality of requirement specification and projects. Very often ineffective requirements-gathering processes are the source of project failures and software defects. In addition, the cost of fixing defects rises exponentially as their discovery occurs later in the development process. However, a solid requirements process is fundamental to an effective overall process, and companies seeking increased quality and productivity should start with the requirements process. The intention of this work is to make the experimental research of requirements specification using templates and evaluate it.

Veiklos taisyklėmis grindžiamos reikalavimų specifikacijos panaudojimas projektuojant informacines sistemas / Application of the business rules based requirements specification during the design of information systems

Mozeris, Tomas 31 October 2013 (has links)
Informacijos sistemų (IS) kūrimo procesas turi gan nusistovėjusią struktūrą, tačiau ji neužtikrina aukštos kuriamų sistemų kokybės ir optimalaus atitikimo vartotojų poreikiams. / Information system (IS) development process has a relatively consistent structure, although it does not guarantee that all user requirements are represented correctly in the final system. Typically IS development consists of the following phases: requirements capture, analysis and specification, design, development, testing, installation and system support. The complete and correct requirement specification facilitates the further success of the project, therefore it is extremely important. This simple fact is one of the reasons why new approaches, such as those based on the business rules (BR) concept, keep on emerging. According to the BR concept, the business rules are separated from other system constitutive objects, thus creating an environment for a more accurate requirement capture. The main goal of this work was to examine the business rules based requirements specification method developed at KTU Department of Information system and come up with the ways of how to use the specified requirements during the system design phase. The decision was made to create the requirements-to-UML diagrams transformation methodology, which is presented in this document. The methodology was evaluated using a partial prototype implementation showing it can be applied in practice.

Anskaffning, värdering och utvärdering av IT-investeringar / Acquisition, valuation and evaluation of IT-investments

Andersson, Julia, Kjellgren, Lucas, Svensson, Isac January 2019 (has links)
Almost all businesses are affected by the current trend of digitalization. To stay competitive, they need to find the right balance between innovation and exploitation. IT-investments could result in increased efficiency, as well as other competitive advantages. To be sure that the IT- investments contributes to these expected advantages, the businesses should evaluate their IT- investment. For the systems to continue to create value and to avoid the use of outdated systems, it’s also of major importance the IT-systems are assessed at a regular basis.   The aim of this thesis is to investigate on what basis IT-investments are made, as well as what approaches organizations tend to adopt while valuating and evaluating their systems. The study was conducted through a qualitative method and the data-collection was made through semi- structured interviews with respondents from 6 different businesses who occupied positions such as chief information officer, chief digital officer and project manager. The part of empirics and analysis explains the results of the study and compares the empirical data with theory.   The result of the study shows that IT-investments often are made to match the digitalization of society and that such investments are affected by factors such as competition and customer’s requests. The result also reveals that acquisition, through Business Case, often is made to decide whether the IT-investment should carry on or discontinue. Furthermore, the result shows that the work with system management often is conducted in a controlled and thoroughly way, but that the work with evaluation isn’t sufficiently comprehensive; which the businesses is aware of and wishes to do in greater extent.

Utvärdering av Posten Scannings kundärendehanteringssystem CIS

Bazsefidpay, Nahal January 2015 (has links)
This thesis has been carried out on behalf of Posten Scanning AB, a wholly owned subsidiary of PostNord Group, together with its sister companies, Data Scanning A/S in Denmark and Data Scanning Finland AB. The company works with scanning, data capture and document management services. Posten Scanning has been since 2013 using a client case management system, Customer Information System (CIS) for handling all matters pertaining to customers and/or internal development from 2013. After about 1.5 years that the company has used the CIS 1.0, they wish to develop a gathered basis for planning the version 2.0 of the CIS. In order to plan for the CIS 2.0, they wanted to investigate, compile and prioritize the new requirements imposed by various stakeholders in the system. The evaluation has focused on internal and external customer requirements regarding usage of CIS and known need for changes in the system. The goal has been based on evaluation findings to develop a decision support in the form of a compiled, prioritized and time estimated requirements specification that can also serve as a basis for a development project. The relative importance of the needs was determined using the method of translation of customer needs for managing requirements document based specification for change. The results of this project showed that customer case management system requirements lists could be prioritized based on what CIS were mostly used to and how often changes were repeated by various user groups.

Improvement of Prevas’ AB quality management system according to ISO 13485:2016 : As a parallel project with the fictive development of ViroDetect for Sweden Diagnostics AB

Klingspor, Sophie, Svensson, Niclas January 2023 (has links)
Quality management system’s (QMS) describes how organisations control their interconnected processes through four elements defined as quality planning, quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement to achieve quality through stakeholder satisfaction. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) develops certifiable international standards for quality management. Through the development of ISO and other standardisers, many organisations require their partners and suppliers to hold a certified QMS. By holding an ISO 13485:2016 certificate an organisation reassure that they can deliver medical devices and related services that meets customers and regulatory requirements. Swedish Diagnostics AB (Swedia), a fictive company, is planning to develop “ViroDetect”, a device for detection and quantification of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in blood plasma. For ViroDetect to be developed under ISO 13485:2016 Swedia will use Prevas AB as a development partner. During the project Prevas will put focus on improving their QMS, as continuous improvement of ones QMS is a requirement by ISO 13485:2016. Through a literature study combined with a document study of Prevas ́ QMS documents and direct observations with active participation of the development process of ViroDetect, this thesis aims to provide Prevas with improvement suggestions for their QMS certified according to ISO 13485:2016. Results showed that Prevas could improve regarding uniformity, traceability, and risk management to promote documentation and evidence-based decision making. Based on the limitations and observations done, the suggested improvements presented are considered reasonable for Prevas to implement. However, the general difficulties for organisations to achieve continuous improvement remains.
