'You are what you read' : intertextual relations in Patrick White's The solid mandala

Este trabalho apresenta uma análise intertextual do romance The Solid Mandala, do escritor australiano, ganhador do prêmio Nobel, Patrick White, publicado em 1966, como parte de um esforço para estimular estudos sobre sua obra no Brasil e para investigar por que sua fortuna crítica tem passado por uma fase negativa recentemente. Primeiro, mostramos brevemente sua biografia e as condições relacionadas à produção e publicação de The Solid Mandala. Em seguida, apresentamos o contexto histórico do romance. As relações de conflito e complementação envolvendo os irmãos gêmeos Waldo e Arthur Brown na narrativa são analisadas, com destaque para a relação deles com a literatura (um tema importante no romance), retratando o papel das personagens como leitores e escritores na história, apreendendo, assim, seus sentimentos, suas visões de mundo e filosofia de vida (Waldo aspira à uma carreira de escritor e Arthur de fato compõe um poema). Os estudos de Gérard Genette sobre Narratologia são utilizados para embasar a análise, particularmente na relação intertextual entre The Solid Mandala e The Brothers Karamazov, do escritor F. Dostoyevsky, que é o título que chama a atenção de Arthur. Na busca pelo todo de sua vida, Arthur incorpora vários elementos (centrados em um único ponto, suas mandalas) e consegue criar sua própria filosofia. No final vemos que Arthur transcende sua realidade ao usar a leitura do romance russo como um instrumento. Esse estudo destaca a pertinência de revisitar a obra de Patrick White (uma vez que ela prova estar em sintonia com as questões filosóficas sendo discutidas atualmente) e coloca The Solid Mandala no contexto da literatura mundial. / This work performs an intertextual analysis of the Nobel Prize winning Australian novelist Patrick White’s The Solid Mandala, published in 1966, as part of an effort to boost studies of his novels in Brazil and to investigate why his critical fortune has been undergoing a negative phase recently. First, we briefly present his biography and the conditions surrounding the writing and publication of The Solid Mandala. Later on, we present the historical context of the novel. The relations of conflict and complementation involving the twin brothers Waldo and Arthur Brown in the narrative are analysed, but we focus on their relation to literature (which is an important theme in the novel), depicting their roles as readers and writers in the story, thus, apprehending their feelings towards each other, worldviews and outlook on life (Waldo aspires to become a great writer, and Arthur actually produces a poem). Gérard Genette’s studies on Narratology are used to support our analysis, particularly in the intertextual relation between The Solid Mandala and F. Dostoyevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, which is the title that calls Arthur’s attention. In his pursue to find the whole of his life, Arthur incorporates various elements (centred at just one point, his mandalas) and is able to create his own philosophy. At the end we see that Arthur transcends his reality by using the reading of the Russian novel as an instrument. This study enlightens the pertinence of revisiting Patrick White’s oeuvre (since it proves to be so well tuned in to the current philosophical issues being discussed), and places The Solid Mandala in the context of worldwide literature.

Recognizing that the late period of Nietzsche's philosophy is marked by the affirmative proposal of a revaluation of all values, this study is dedicated to understand the journey crossed by the character in relation to the noon as the beginning of the character s task and the great noon as a celebration of the incorporation of the eternal recurrence of the same and the final consummation of the revaluation of all values. In light of this, the first section seeks to demonstrate the Nietzschean critique of Western culture, marked by nihilism and death of God such as it appears in the Twilight of the Idols under the heading How the 'true world' finally became the fable . Following this thought, we seek to understand the noon time while the total elimination of dualities and also the man's reconciliation with the nature. From this point the task of Zarathustra begins. Then, analyzing the works of the second period of Nietzsche's philosophy, the following section reconstructs the ground from which Zarathustra and the noon s philosophy develop themselves. This undertaking is intended to make known the character and his task from the context of the revaluation of all the values. Finally, in the third and final section, after accompanying the trajectory of Zarathustra along the prologue of the homonymous work to get the event of noon, the research follows the character in the path of his going under [Untergang], showing thus its incorporation of the eternal recurrence and the consolidation of the unconditional affirmation of the amor fati existence. When dealing with Zarathustra maturation, that allows him from towards the celebration of the great noon, this dissertation ends by calling attention to the role that the disciples of Zoroaster, while philosophers of the future, play in the realization of the revaluation of all the values. / Trata-se de uma investigação acerca do papel desempenhado pela personagem de Zaratustra no contexto da obra madura de Nietzsche, sobretudo no que se refere ao meio-dia e grande meio-dia. Por reconhecer que o período tardio da filosofia nietzschiana é marcado pela proposta afirmativa de uma transvaloração de todos os valores, o presente estudo dedica-se a compreender o itinerário percorrido pela personagem frente ao meio-dia enquanto início da tarefa da personagem e o grande meio-dia enquanto celebração que consuma sua incorporação do eterno retorno do mesmo e a efetivação definitiva da transvaloração de todos os valores. Em vista disso, a primeira seção busca evidenciar a crítica nietzschiana à cultura ocidental, marcada pelo niilismo e a morte de Deus tal qual ela se apresenta no Crepúsculo dos ídolos sob o título Como o mundo verdadeiro finalmente se tornou fábula . Frente a isso, procura compreender o meio-dia enquanto instante da total supressão das dualidades e da reconciliação do homem com a natureza a partir da qual se inicia a tarefa de Zaratustra. Em seguida, analisando as obras do segundo período da filosofia de Nietzsche, a seção seguinte reconstrói o solo a partir do qual Zaratustra e a filosofia do meio-dia se desenvolvem. Tal empreendimento destina-se a tornar conhecida a personagem e sua tarefa a partir do contexto da transvaloração de todo os valores. Por fim, na terceira e última seção, depois de acompanhar a trajetória de Zaratustra ao longo do prólogo da obra homônima até chegar o evento do meio-dia, a investigação segue a personagem no trajeto de seu ocaso, evidenciando assim, sua incorporação do eterno retorno e a consolidação da incondicional afirmação da existência no amor fati. Ao tratar de seu amadurecimento, o que permite a Zaratustra partir em direção à celebração do grande meio-dia, a dissertação se encerra chamando a atenção para o papel que os discípulos de Zaratustra, enquanto filósofos do futuro, desempenham na efetivação da transvaloração de todo os valores.

La presente investigación fue elaborada con el objetivo de analizar la NIC 40 y determinar el impacto financiero y tributario de las propiedades de inversión en las empresas del sector inmobiliario del distrito Santiago de surco, año 2018, nuestro instrumento principal es la Norma Internacional de Contabilidad NIC 40 “Propiedades de Inversión”, con la emisión de ésta norma surgió la necesidad de revisar el tratamiento contable que sirva para presentar razonablemente las cifras de los Estados Financieros y la toma de decisiones por parte de los usuarios. Dentro del capítulo I Marco teórico, se realiza un estudio respecto a las Normas Internacionales contables, definición, evolución, objetivo, medición inicial y posterior a revelar de la NIC 40 “Propiedad de Inversión”; se indaga sobre los tipos de modelos al costo o valor razonable y transferencias, se analiza también el sector inmobiliario y el impacto financiero y tributario. En el capítulo II, se plantea el problema principal y secundario, así como los objetivos generales y específicos, hipótesis principales y secundarias. Capitulo III Metodología de la investigación se definirá la población y muestra a evaluar durante nuestra investigación. En el capítulo IV Desarrollo de la investigación donde aplicamos las entrevistas de profundidad a los especialistas del tema y el desarrollo del caso de una empresa del sector inmobiliario que cuenta con una propiedad de inversión. En el Capítulo V Análisis de resultados, se desarrolla las entrevistas, el caso práctico y la validación de las hipótesis generales y especificas con relación a los resultados obtenidos. Para obtener un mejor entendimiento de la norma, se realizó un ejemplo en donde se detalla la transferencia del inmueble, que deja de ser Propiedad planta y equipo (NIC 16) pasando a ser Propiedad de inversión (NIC 40), en la cual se detalla el análisis correspondiente. / Abstrac: The present investigation was prepared with the objective of analyzing IAS 40 and determining the financial and tax impact of investment properties in the companies of the real estate sector of the Santiago de Surco district, year 2018, our main instrument is the International Accounting Standard IAS 40 “Investment Property”, with the issuance of this standard, the need arose to review the accounting treatment that reasonably presents the figures of the Financial Statements and the decision making by the users. Within chapter I Theoretical framework, a study is carried out regarding International Accounting Standards, definition, evolution, objective, initial and subsequent disclosure of IAS 40 "Investment Property"; the types of models are investigated at cost or fair value and transfers, the real estate sector and the financial and tax impact are also analyzed. In chapter II, the main and secondary problem is posed, as well as the general and specific objectives, main and secondary hypotheses. Chapter III Research methodology will define the population and sample to evaluate during our investigation. In chapter IV Development of the investigation where we apply the in-depth interviews to the specialists of the subject and the development of the case of a company of the real estate sector that has an investment property. In Chapter V Analysis of results, the interviews, the case study and the validation of the general and specific hypotheses regarding the results obtained are developed. To obtain a better understanding of the norm, an example was made where the transfer of the property is detailed, which ceases to be Plant and Equipment Property (IAS 16) becoming an Investment Property (IAS 40), which details The corresponding analysis. / Tesis

A l’heure où le droit du dommage corporel tente de se démarquer de pars les règles qui lui sont propres, la réparation intégrale des dommages corporels ne semble être véritablement obtenue par la victime que dans le cadre de la responsabilité civile. Le préjudice professionnel a gagné en autonomie depuis l’élaboration de la nomenclature Dintilhac distinguant les pertes de gains professionnels du déficit fonctionnel et conceptualisant un nouveau poste de préjudice professionnel « l’incidence professionnelle ». La réparation intégrale « tout le préjudice ; rien que le préjudice ; le préjudice réel » en devient l’expression. Cependant ce principe est souvent malmené et inéluctablement des inégalités de traitement entre les victimes en découlent. En effet, l’influence excessive du recours des tiers payeurs, sur l’évaluation du préjudice professionnel et l’absence d’outils indispensables à la pérennité de la matière laissent perplexes / At a time when the law of personal injury tries to stand out from the rules that are specific to it, full compensation for bodily injury seems to be truly obtained by the victim only in the context of civil liability. „Sketching the world“ bedeutet entwerfen von Welt mittels analogen und digitalen Zeichenmitteln - auch in Zukunft benötigt es dafür im Design Engineering der Künstlichen Intelligenz (KI) und der Emotionalen Intelligenz (EQ – nach Daniel Goleman). Zeichnen ist Kulturgut seit der Steinzeit und ist für die kulturelle Bildung als auch für das Design Engineering der Zukunft von großer Bedeutung. Zeichnen-Erfahrungen, sei es mit dem Stock im Sand oder mit dem Stift auf Papier, beginnt in der Primarbildung: Bereits hier ist es als Kulturtechnik essentiell für die Gesellschaft, indem der aktive Akt des Zeichnens Selbstausdruck und kulturelles Gedächtnis, Signifikat ist. Zeichnen ist individuelles und kollektives Wissens- und Bildungsmanagement für die Welt von morgen und muss in der Primabildung früh – multidisziplinär – verankert sein, soll es im Skizzieren, im Mapping, als Repräsentation und Projektion wirkungsvoll für das Design Engineering in Europa, auch in der Augmented Reality, eingesetzt werden.
