Konzept zur internationalen Einführung vernetzter Virtual Obeya-Räume zur standortverteilten Produktentwicklung

Abramovici, Michael, Adwernat, Stefan, Neges, Matthias January 2016 (has links)

World of Workraft: a step towards the gamification of industrial control systems for future operators : N/A / World of Workcraft: hur gamification av industriella kontrollsystem underlättar för framtida operatörer

Rigo, Riccardo January 2016 (has links)
Industrial control systems (ICSs) are software systems that allow operators to remotely control entire industrial processes. This activity is usually performed within particular spaces located inside the facilities: control rooms. While the operators’ job is extremely important, it is often regarded as boring and dull; due to the passive nature of the job, the operators often feel unengaged. Industrial stakeholders are concerned about the next generation of operators, due to their different requirements regarding softwares and engagement. In fact, they would not be eager to work with the current ICSs. However, gamification — the design practice about using game design elements in contexts unrelated to games — has potential to contribute in addressing the problem. Implementing gamification within ICSs could make the future operators’ job more fun, appealing, and engaging, providing an overall better user- experience (UX). This research is a step towards achieving an effective gamification of ICSs; it consists of an exploratory study aimed to understand what gamification approaches are more suitable for the industrial context and the target user group. This research adopted an user-centred design approach, starting with extensive user studies on control rooms and the future operators; followed by a design and prototyping phase, and finally a user evaluation involving quantitative and qualitative investigations. This paper ultimately provides a series of design implications and insights for the design of gamified ICS.

Andersson, Karin, Schildt Svensk, Katarina January 2022 (has links)
Background: The care environment can be described as the physical space, the atmosphere and through the care culture that prevails in the care ward. Problem: What is important in the care environment for the patient to experience good health? There is a need for increased knowledge about the importance of the care environment for the patient's health. Aim: The aim of this study was to create an overview of the importance of the healthcare environment for the patient's health and well-being. Method: General literature review with ten articles. Three with quantitative approach, six with qualitative approach and one with mix method. Results: Patients wanted privacy and personal space in the care environment. Music and art, as well as common areas in the care environment create conditions for satisfying the patient's social and human needs. Daylight, windows and natural elements in the care environment had a positive effect on the patient's health. Good treatment and care culture in the care environment gave the patients security. The literature review shows that the care environment is important for the patient's health. Conclusions: A well-planned and well-thought-out physical care environment, combined with a good care culture, can optimize the conditions for promoting the patient's health.

Improving Patients' Satisfaction Through More Effective Utilization of Operating Rooms Resources: An Informational-Based Perspective

Ferreira, José, Gomes, Carlos, Yasin, Mahmoud 18 October 2011 (has links)
Purpose – This paper aims to present an applied research effort aimed at reengineering the utilization practices of operating rooms for a public Portuguese hospital. This reengineering effort is motivated by the desire to enhance the patientorientation of the hospital. The role of information systems in facilitating such organizational change is also to be examined. Design/methodology/approach – Actual data are used to simulate outcomes of three different operational scenarios related to the utilization of operating rooms and surgical teams. As such, the critical constraint related to surgical capacity is relaxed under different utilization scenarios. Findings – Based on the findings of the study, it appears that there is no conflict between operational efficiency and patient satisfaction. Welldesigned operational changes can lead to both efficiency and patient satisfaction benefits. This, in turn, can translate into competitive strategic advantage for the hospital. Research limitations/implications – The simulation results derived from this applied research are positive. In general, they tend to point to potential operational and strategic benefits to the hospital and its patients. Although the simulation model used in this study was validated using actual data, more research is needed to test its general applicability. Such research should shed more light on the interrelationships which exist within the hospital operating system. Practical implications – The approach advocated in this research has operational and strategic relevance to healthcare policy makers and hospitals' administrators. In this context, the role of the information systems in providing information relevant to tracking and improving a hospital's performance is emphasized. Originality/value – The paper presents a practical, applied, systematic approach toward enhancing operational effectiveness in healthcare organizations. It draws on bodies of knowledge pretending to system theory, simulation and operations management in order to improve the shortterm performance of hospitals.

A Study on Fitness Functions and Their Impact in PCG

Johansson, Simon January 2018 (has links)
Procedural Content Generation (PCG) is a tool for developers to take advantage of the computational power of the computer in order to create new content. There are many different method that a PCG program is able to utilize but finding the most optimal may be very challenging. In this paper we improved Evolution Dungeon Designer (EDD) by integrate symmetry and similar fitness function. We evaluated them with experiments and a user study that involved participants that are active in the field of game development. We can see that both symmetry and similar functions can easily be integrated for creating 2D dungeon rooms but has the potential of overwhelm the existing functions.
