abstract: This study utilizes semiotic phenomenology as a method of inquiry to describe the lived experiences of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) gamers (gaymers). I begin by discussing my issues with the current gaming literature, arguing that the gamer community is a space that privileges cis, heterosexual, and hypermasculine men while oppressing those who may not fit this mold. I discuss the shortcomings of the current literature that attempts to critically look at race and gaming, noting that race in the gaming community is still portrayed as secondary. I focus special attention to how this space allows for more inclusion than the larger gamer and LGBTQ communities while also critiquing those whom this space privileges. Through interviews of members of the local gaymer organization, the Phoenix Gaymers, I discuss ways in which the gaymer community is more inclusive and conscious of others but still follows forms of what I describe to be gaymer privilege. I focus on gaymer privilege within the intersections of race, gender, and sexuality, where I argue from the phenomenological descriptions, reductions, and interpretations that there are still overt issues of sexism and transphobia as well as implicit issues of white privilege. While I describe the issues that are found within the Phoenix Gaymers, I also attempt to provide suggestions for change within the organization as well as in academic scholarship to create more awareness and inclusion for female, transgender, genderqueer, and queer people of color gaymers. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Social and Cultural Pedagogy 2017

The method chosen for this research was qualitative, case study technique. The uniqueness of this study is because the teacher-researcher teach math classes for students in the ninth year of primary school, subject participants, since the sixth grade. On the other hand, our students belong to a school context that has shown good results in the external evaluation system of Minas Gerais, since 2009. We developed and applied a test with students, composed of eight items with four alternatives each. In the resolutions ask the justification of reasoning as a means of access to the written production of our students. The quantitative performance of students revealed to us that our students use what they learn in math classes to develop into effective strategists in obtaining the correct alternative. In the qualitative performance, how the semiotic representation registers were mobilized is directly linked to the role played by this teacher-researcher in the classroom, that is, the written record as a way to express the reasoning is treated in our classes as part fundamental development of mathematics student activities. One of the research results showed that skills SIMAVE assessment matrix to identify the relationship between the algebraic and geometric representations of a first-degree equations system is necessary and sufficient to succeed in resolving issues of this evaluation. However, the written records of our students showed that this ability is insufficient when there is need to link the internal concepts to visual elements of the graph as the slope of the line in the Cartesian plane, for example, as a necessary element to the equation of the composition. / Este trabalho buscou responder à seguinte questão de investigação: como alunos com bom rendimento no SIMAVE mobilizam registros de representação semiótica em questões com conteúdos algébricos? A opção metodológica para esta pesquisa foi qualitativa, na modalidade de estudo de caso. A singularidade deste estudo se faz pelo fato do professor-pesquisador ministrar aulas de matemática para os alunos do nono ano do Ensino Fundamental, sujeitos participantes da pesquisa, desde o sexto ano. Por outro lado, nossos alunos pertencem a um contexto escolar que tem apresentado bons resultados no sistema de avaliação externa de Minas Gerais, desde 2009. Elaboramos e aplicamos um teste com alunos, composto de oito itens com quatro alternativas cada um. Nas resoluções pedimos a justificativa do raciocínio como forma de acesso à produção escrita de nossos alunos. O desempenho quantitativo levantado através de análise de dados revelou-nos que nossos alunos utilizam aquilo que aprendem nas aulas de matemática para se desenvolverem como estrategistas eficazes na obtenção da alternativa correta. A forma como os registros de representação semiótica foram mobilizados está diretamente ligada ao papel exercido por este professor-pesquisador em sala de aula, ou seja, o registro escrito como forma de expressar o raciocínio, é tratado em nossas aulas como parte fundamental do desenvolvimento das atividades matemáticas dos alunos. Um dos resultados da pesquisa apontou que habilidades da matriz de avaliação do SIMAVE, como identificar a relação entre as representações algébrica e geométrica de um sistema de equações do primeiro grau, é necessário e suficiente para ter sucesso na resolução de questões desta avaliação. Porém, os registros escritos de nossos alunos apontaram que esta habilidade é insuficiente quando há necessidade de articular os conceitos internos aos elementos visuais do gráfico como a inclinação da reta no plano cartesiano, por exemplo, como elemento necessário para a composição da equação da reta.

Depois, de descrito e contextualizado, HayMotivo.com é analisado na perspectiva englobante, a partir da aplicação do percurso gerativo do plano da expressão, de Jacques Fontanille, que permite explicitar a integração dos níveis de pertinência semiótica, enfatizando o objeto-suporte (internet) e as práticas e estratégias (técnicas audiovisuais utilizadas. Comprovado que HayMotivo.com representa uma nova prática de produção de documentário em ambiente web, escolhemos quatro vídeos, corpus desta pesquisa, para analisar numa perspectiva englobada: Español para extranjeros, Soledad, Kontrastasun e Catequesis. A aplicação do percurso gerativo do plano do conteúdo, de A. J. Greimas, permite uma análise mais fina, ao evidenciar os semas recorrentes e as oposições no nível profundo, os papéis actanciais e os objetos-valor no nível narrativo e as figuras, os temas e as marcas de enunciação e simulacros, no nível discursivo. A pesquisa teórica e a análise comparativa revelam outros aspectos que foram explicitados com a aplicação de alguns conceitos da gramática tensiva de Claude Zilberberg. Condensadas no Quadro de Categorias, as práticas e estratégias de HayMotivo.com serviram de alicerce para nosso exercício prático, a produção do docweb experimental Brincadeira de criança, publicado no Youtube.com, que representa o resultado principal de nossa pesquisa: a passagem da teoria à prática. / This work analyses the collection of videos HayMotivos.com, defined as an online documentary (docweb), from the concept and historical approach of documentary as a genre, its boderline with fiction cinema and its migration to the web environment. After it is described and contextualized, HayMotivo.com is analyzed in a comprehensive perspective, through the use of the generative process of the expression plan, by Jacques, Fontanille, which allows to make explicit the integration of the levels of semiotic pertinence, emphasizing the support-object (internet) as the practices and strategies (audiovisual techniques used). Once it has been proved that HayMotivo.com represents a new practice for the production of documentaries in the web, we chose four vídeos, corpus of this research, to analyze in an enclosed perspective: Español para extranjeros, Soledad, Kontrastasun and Catequesis. The use of generative process of the content plan, by A. J. Greimas, allows for a finer analysis, by evidencing recurring semes and deep level oppositions, actant roles and value objects in the narrative level and the pictures, thermes and enunciation marks and simulacrum, in discourse level. Thje theoretical research and the comparative analysis revealed other aspects which have been explicated through the use of some concepts of the tensive grammar by Claude Zilberberg. Condensed in the Category Table, the practices and strategies of HayMotivo.com served as basis for our practical exercise, the production of the experimental docweb Brincandeira de criança (Child play), published on Youtube.com, which represents the main result of our research: the passing from theory to practice.

This survey brought a reflection over the images of the collective unconscious in the relations of intersubjectivity found in folktales from the Brazilian Northeast. This concern came from the fact that the human being is not only seen as a biological structure, but also as social and psychic structure. Under this view, we sought for more satisfactory positions on the significance of folktales. We started from the assumption that underlying the discourse of the folktale, there are images of the collective unconscious, capable of describing the relations of intersubjectivity, meaning that intersubjectivity as a form of constitution of subjectivity emerges under the subject's performance in relation to otherness and the archetypes of the collective unconscious manifested symbolically through myths, magic and fantasy. The research was conducted from the general objective that was proposed to examine, under the interface between Semiotics and Psychoanalysis that is present in images of the collective unconscious intersubjective relations of enunciation and utterance that characterize the northeastern folktale, in order to perceive aspects identify the subjects, the relations among them and between subjects and between subject and object of their value. The theoretical basis focused Greimasian semiotics explaining the semiotic function, from a generative trajectory composed of three levels: narrativization, speechlization and deep semantics. The analysis was complemented by this tensive semiotics of Fontanille which accounts for inflections of axiological values from an intense and extensive grading. It was discussed too, the theories of the unconscious, from Freud and Jung who, in addition to a personal unconscious, proposes a collective. Then we tried to see how "self" is constructed, following the understanding that subjectivity is constituted as otherness. To situate the corpus, we discussed about the literature of the folktale, especially considering the origin, structure and identification according to Nascimento s Catalogue of Brazilian Folktale. This research consisted of two hundred and eighty thousand of which were selected among those nine versions from the Northeast Brazil. The stories were coded by the initial graphemes of words in the title: As mil e uma noites (MN), O macaco e o rabo (MR), A Moura Torta (MT); Seu Nino (SN) As perguntas de Dom Lobo (PDL); Boi Leição (BL) and A Aranha Caranguejeira e o Quibungo (ACQ), O macaco e a cabaça (MC), A menina dos brincos de ouro (MBO). Before the analysis, it was built a synopsis and segmentation. In narrative structure, one identified the semiotic subject, searching for their value objects, sometimes aided by an adjuvant, sometimes hampered by an opponent. In the discourse structure, we analyzed their interpersonal relations of space and time, enunciation and statement, in which the symbolic richness of the stories revealed the presence of the major archetypes of the collective unconscious: the animus, the anima, the shadow, the persona and Self, who spoke on different images and contributed to the perception of the various issues. In the fundamental structure, it was elucidated the opposition of good versus evil as the matrix pole for the emergence of other oppositions. / As narrativas populares são ricas em elementos do mundo natural nos quais subjazem conteúdos inconscientes. A pesquisa intentou uma reflexão em torno das imagens do inconsciente coletivo nas relações de intersubjetividade presentes nos contos populares nordestinos. Tal inquietude partiu da compreensão de que o ser humano não se constitui apenas como estrutura biológica, mas também como estrutura psíquica e social. Sob essa ótica, buscaram-se posições mais satisfatórias sobre a significação dos contos populares. Partiu-se da hipótese de que, subjacentes ao discurso do conto popular, encontram-se imagens do inconsciente coletivo, capazes de caracterizar as relações de intersubjetividade, entendendo que a intersubjetividade, como forma de constituição da subjetividade, emerge sob a performance dos sujeitos em relação à alteridade e que os arquétipos do inconsciente coletivo se manifestam, simbolicamente, através de mitos, magias e fantasias. A pesquisa foi direcionada a partir do objetivo geral que propôs analisar, sob a interface Semiótica e Psicanálise, imagens do inconsciente coletivo presentes nas relações intersubjetivas de enunciação e de enunciado que caracterizam o conto popular nordestino, a fim de perceber aspectos que identificam os sujeitos, as relações entre eles e entre o sujeito e seu objeto de valor. A fundamentação teórica privilegiou a semiótica greimasiana que explica a função semiótica, partindo de um percurso gerativo composto de três níveis: narrativização, discursivização e semântica profunda. A análise desta foi complementada pela semiótica tensiva de Fontanille que responde pelas inflexões dos valores axiológicos a partir de uma gradação intensa e extensa. Discutiram-se, ainda, as teorias do inconsciente, a partir de Freud e de Jung que, além de um inconsciente pessoal, propõe um coletivo. Em seguida abordou-se como o eu se constrói, seguindo o entendimento de que a subjetividade é constituída a partir da alteridade. Para situar o corpus, discorreu-se sobre a literatura do conto popular, considerando principalmente a origem, a estrutura e a identificação conforme o Catálogo do Conto Popular Brasileiro de Nascimento. O universo da pesquisa constou de duzentos e oitenta contos dos quais foram selecionadas nove versões entre aquelas levantadas no Nordeste brasileiro. Os contos foram codificados pelos grafemas iniciais dos vocábulos do título: As mil e uma noites (MN); O Macaco e o Rabo (MR); A Moura Torta (MT); Seu Nino (SN); As perguntas de Dom Lobo (PDL); O Boi Leição (BL); A aranha Caranguejeira e o Quibungo (ACQ); O macaco e a cabaça (MC); A menina dos brincos de ouro (MBO). Antes da análise, foram construídas uma sinopse e a segmentação. Na estrutura narrativa, identificaram-se os sujeitos semióticos, realizando um percurso em busca do seu objeto de valor, ora ajudado por um adjuvante, ora prejudicado por um oponente. Na estrutura discursiva, foram analisadas as relações intersubjetivas de espaço e de tempo, de enunciação e de enunciado, em que a riqueza simbólica dos contos revelou a presença dos principais arquétipos do inconsciente coletivo: o animus, a anima, a sombra, a persona e o Self, que se manifestaram sob diferentes imagens e contribuíram para a percepção dos vários temas. Na estrutura fundamental, elucidou-se a oposição bem versus mal como polo matriz para a emergência de outras oposições.

The theoretical perspective that underlies the research involves the Semiotics of Culture (Yuri Lótman, Uspênsky, Roman Jakobson, etc.), with incursions by Peircean semiotics. / Esta pesquisa tem como finalidade refletir sobre o que vem sendo chamado de poesia eletrônica ou digital e se realmente é possível se fazer poesia extraída de signos gerados por um suporte computacional (bits e pixels na tela de um computador). São observadas as características e as ideias conceituais que se configuram a respeito do tema. Três objetos de análise são abordados (pancircular, de Clemente Padin, Oraculum, de Joesér Alvarez e Soneto Digital, de Fernando Aguiar) para que se possam aplicar os referenciais teóricos de forma prática, o que é importante para consolidações teórico-conceituais. The analysis is made based on the melopoeia, phanopoeia, and logopoeia, categories developed by Ezra Pound, the entrangement (ostranenie) concept (Victor Chklovski) and the sound identity concept (Roman Jacobson). The context in which the poems are inserted is the new rising of the verse after the explicit dialogue between Leminski s poetry and the Concrete Poetry Movement in Brazil. In that sense, Leminski s diction, rooted on what we call condensation craftsmanship , it conciliates formal strictness and unruliness, the consciousness of the materiality of signs and colloquial language. Key words: meta-language, semiotic consciousness, colloquial language. / Esta dissertação faz uma leitura da poesia de Paulo Leminski a partir da idéia de capricho e relaxo , articulando consciência semiótica e lirismo, humor e metalinguagem. A análise é realizada apoiando-se nas categorias de melopéia, fanopéia e logopéia desenvolvidas por Ezra Pound, além dos conceitos de estranhamento (Vítor Chklóvski) e identidade sonora (Roman Jakobson). O contexto em que se insere os poemas é o da retomada do verso após o diálogo mais explícito da produção leminskiana com a Poesia Concreta. Neste sentido, a dicção de Leminski, radicada em artesanato de condensação, concilia rigor formal e desregramento, consciência da materialidade dos signos e linguagem coloquial.

Esta pesquisa traz um estudo sobre a construção inicial dos conceitos de limites e taxa de variação, com alunos do segundo ano do Ensino Médio da Escola Antônio de Castro Alves. Como metodologia utilizamos a perspectiva do Estudo de Caso (PONTE, 2006). O trabalho propõe a utilização do software Tracker Physics, que possibilita a análise de objetos em movimento gravados por vídeo a partir de diferentes registros gerados pelo software, tais como gráficos, tabelas e registros algébricos. Com o uso deste software e da teoria de Duval, procuramos responder à seguinte pergunta norteadora: como os alunos do Ensino Médio compreendem os conceitos de taxa de variação e de limite a partir de objetos em movimento analisados com o Tracker Physics? Por tratar-se de objetos em movimento, utilizamos a Física como meio para trabalharmos os conceitos matemáticos. Antes de chegarmos ao debate sobre limite e taxa de variação, a proposta levanta questões acerca da interpretação de gráficos, tabelas, equações e cálculos numéricos, que não são o escopo principal do trabalho, mas que são importantes para o processo de construção dos conceitos propostos, e a análise dos dados aponta resultados interessantes. Os dados da pesquisa são analisados à luz da teoria dos Registros Semióticos de Duval. Podemos apontar, ao final da pesquisa, que os alunos avançaram na compreensão dos conceitos abordados nas situações apresentadas e analisadas. / This research brings a study about the initial construction of the concepts of limits and rate of variation, with students of the second year of High School of the School Antônio de Castro Alves. As methodology we use the case study perspective (PONTE, 2006). The work proposes the use of Tracker Physics software, which enables the analysis of moving objects recorded by video from different records generated by the software, such as graphs, tables and algebraic records. With the use of this software and Duval's theory, we try to answer the following guiding question: how do the students of the High School understand the concepts of rate of variation and limit from moving objects analyzed with Tracker Physics? Because we are dealing with moving objects, we use Physics as the means to work on mathematical concepts. Before we reach the debate about limit and rate of variation, the proposal raises questions about the interpretation of graphs, tables, equations and numerical calculations, which are not the main scope of the work, but which are important for the process of construction of the proposed concepts , And the analysis of the data points interesting results. The data of the research is analyzed in light of the theory of the Duval Semiotic Registers. We can point out, at the end of the research, that the students advanced in understanding the concepts addressed in the situations presented and analyzed.

Este trabalho traz uma pesquisa feita com alunos do 3º ano do Ensino Médio de uma escola da rede privada da região metropolitana de Porto Alegre, na qual o objetivo foi analisar as contribuições do software GeoGebra no estudo da circunferência, transitando entre diferentes registros de representações semióticas, algébrica e geométrica, e utilizando parâmetros para chegar a raciocínios generalizados. Para a realização desta pesquisa, foi utilizado o estudo de caso como metodologia. A coleta de dados se deu por meio de observações da professora/pesquisadora, questionamentos sobre as atividades trabalhadas no GeoGebra, registros escritos feitos pelos alunos e dos arquivos com extensão .ggb. Foi criado um website com a sequência das atividades aplicadas em sala de aula e os trabalhos finais produzidos pelos alunos, nos quais o uso de parâmetros foi utilizado no GeoGebra, com o intuito de levar os alunos a compreenderem os elementos da equação da circunferência, generalizar o raciocínio e reconhecer as representações gráfica e algébrica do mesmo objeto matemático. A análise dos dados coletados aponta a importância desta ferramenta ao ter instigado reflexões nos alunos que os levaram à compreensão da circunferência e das relações existentes entre os registros geométrico e algébrico, desencadeando o processo de conversão entre estes registros, e assim, proporcionando aos alunos o conhecimento global do objeto de estudo. / This work presents a survey carried out with 3rd year high school students from a private school in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre, in which the objective was to analyze the contributions of GeoGebra software in the study of circumference, passing between different registers of semiotic representations, Algebraic and geometric, and using parameters to arrive at generalized reasoning. In order to carry out this research, the case study was used as methodology. Data collection was done through teacher/researcher observations, questions about the activities worked on GeoGebra, written records made by the students and the files with extension .ggb. A website was created with the sequence of activities applied in the classroom and the final works produced by the students, in which the use of parameters was used in GeoGebra, in order to get students to understand the elements of the circumference equation, generalize the reasoning and recognize the graphical and algebraic representations of the same mathematical object. The analysis of the collected data points out the importance of this tool in having instigated reflections in the students that led them to understand the circumference and the existing relations between the geometric and algebraic registers, triggering the process of conversion between these registers, and thus, knowledge of the object of study.

Esta dissertação apresenta uma proposta para trabalhar, na escola, com a argumentação dedutiva em geometria. A proposta faz uso de material digital consistindo de instrumentos virtuais de desenho que realizam as transformações geométricas de translação, reflexão, rotação e ampliação. Fazendo uso do material digital, elaboramos uma seqüência didática composta por três etapas – atividades de exploração, construção e argumentação, e uma experiência foi realizada em turma de Ensino Médio. Na analise do processo de aprendizagem dos alunos utilizamos a teoria de Van Hiele sobre níveis de pensamento geométrico e a teoria de Duval sobre registros de representações semióticas. No laboratório de informática, inicialmente os alunos sujeitos da experiência foram instigados a explorar os instrumentos virtuais, expressando seu entendimento em registro discursivo; construíram o instrumento virtual a partir do protocolo de construção, aqui transitando entre registros discursivo e geométrico; e finalmente trabalharam na argumentação que explica as transformações realizadas pelos instrumentos. Os resultados obtidos mostram que o uso dos instrumentos virtuais de desenho contribuiu para que os alunos entendessem, no contexto da geometria, o propósito de um raciocínio dedutivo. / This dissertation presents a proposal to work, at school, the deductive reasoning in geometry. The proposal makes use of digital material consisting of virtual drawing tools that perform geometric transformations of translation, reflection, rotation and enlargement. Making use of digital material, it was developed a didactic sequence consists of three stages - exploration, construction and argumentation, and an experiment was performed in a high school class. In the analysis of the learning process of the students it was used the theory of Van Hiele related to levels of geometric thought and the theory of Duval related to registers of semiotic representations. In the computer lab, initially the students were encouraged to explore the virtual instruments, expressing their understanding in a discursive register; they made the geometric construction of the instruments, making use of discursive and geometric registers; finally they worked on the argument that explains the transformations performed by the instruments. The results show that the use of virtual instruments helped students to understand, in the geometric context, the purpose of a deductive reasoning.

Esta Dissertação analisa o roteiro que gerou a telenovela Cheias de Charme (TV Globo – 2012) pela Teoria Semiótica de Algirdas Julien Greimas (1970), com ênfase no percurso gerativo de sentido, e pela vertente Sociossemiótica de Erik Landowski (1992). Também são utilizados conceitos de produção audiovisual de Doc Comparato (2009), Flavio de Campos (2007), Luiz Carlos Maciel (2003) e Marcos Rey (1997). O texto é dividido em três partes, representando o estado inicial (roteiro 1), transformacional (roteiro 72, meio do texto) e final (roteiro 143, último roteiro) das empregadas domésticas Maria da Penha, Maria do Rosário e Maria Aparecida em oposição a suas patroas Chayene, Lygia Ortega e Sônia Sarmento. Após, através do percurso gerativo de produção de sentido, da Teoria Semiótica Greimasiana, descrevem-se os elementos dos níveis fundamental (relações axiológicas de contrariedade, contradição e complementaridade), narrativo (programas narrativos e modalizações) e discursivo (figuras e temas) do texto. A análise permite estabelecer, através de uma teoria de linguagem, uma relação com aspectos socioculturais e políticos da sociedade brasileira para o impacto na aprovação do Projeto de Emenda Constitucional n° 66/2012 – Lei dos Empregados Domésticos do Brasil. Conclui-se que o roteiro de telenovela brasileira se constitui como construtor e circulador de significados socioculturais do Brasil e que a Teoria Semiótica e a sua vertente teórica Sociossemiótica são adequadas para o acesso a esse texto. / This dissertation analyzes the script that generated the soap opera Cheias de Charme by Rede Globo (2012) based on the Semiotic Theory of Algirdas Julien Greimas (1970), with emphasis on the generative path of meaning and the Sociosemiotic view of Erik Landowski (1992). Concepts of audiovisual production are also discussed based on Doc Comparato (2009), Flavio de Campos (2007), Luiz Carlos Maciel (2003) and Marcos Rey (1997) theory. For this, the text is divided in three parts representing the initial state (script 1), the transformational state (script 72, middle of the text) and the final state (script 143, last part of the text) of the housemaids Maria da Penha, Maria do Rosário and Maria Aparecida in opposition to their bosses Chayene, Lygia Ortega and Sônia Sarmento. Then, through the generative path of meaning production of the Greimasian Semiotic Theory, the elements of the fundamental (axiological relations of contrariety, contradiction and complementarity), narrative (narrative programs and modalizations) and discursive (figures and themes) levels of the text are described. The analysis allowed to establish, through a theory of language, a link of sociocultural and political aspects of Brazilian society and their impact on the approval of the Constitutional Amendment Project n ° 66/2012 – Law of the Domestic Employees in Brazil. It is concluded that the Brazilian soap opera script constitutes a constructor and circulator of sociocultural meanings of Brazil and that the Semiotic Theory and its Sociosemiotic line are suitable to access this textual genre.
