Gestion automatisée de l’énergie d’un avion de transport civil : application aux phases de descente et d’approche / Integrated energy management for civil transport aircraft : Application to the descent and approach phases

Lefebvre, Mickael 16 May 2012 (has links)
The first year of thesis allowed to foreground two aspects of the energy management issue, namely the short term control and the long term control, respectively. The first issue was studied during the second year and ended with the proposition of a solution mixing both the airbrakes and engines. The second and last issue started with a preliminary study which consisted of computing an optimal slat/flap command sequence bringing the aircraft to theright energy level in approach while minimizing the use of engines and airbrakes. Then, this study was extended in order to take into account the regulation of engines and airbrakes aswell as vertical trajectory modification. Finally, this optimization-based solution has been integrated within an accurate real-time desktop simulator, tested with a human-machine interface, and then presented to flight test pilots for validation.

Financial instability in South Africa : trends and interactions within the financial markets

Shikwambana, Jamela 06 August 2013 (has links)
This study seeks to investigate the trends and interactions of market volatility as a source of instability in the South African financial markets. Financial instability can be manifested in the form of banking and currency crisis, institutional failures and extreme asset price volatility. This study, however, focuses on a single aspect of financial instability - asset price volatility. Asset price volatility reflects changes in market expectations as investors react to such changes, and thus on its own is not necessarily a source of instability. However, volatility spillovers can propagate volatility shocks across the market, increasing the risk of widespread instability. Using a combination of graphical and trend analysis as well as more formal estimation techniques, the study examined volatility in the stock, money and foreign exchange markets. To obtain estimates of market volatility, the study experimented with various volatility models that include the GARCH, TARCH and EGARCH. An analysis of volatility interactions and the transmission of volatility shocks across the market is crucial to understanding financial instability. To examine volatility interaction and the transmission of volatility shocks, a VAR model was estimated. This framework allowed us to examine the propagation of shocks across the markets. Volatility in the financial markets was found to be highly persistent and in the case of exchange rates, volatility was also characterised by an increasing trend. Significant linkages between the financial markets were found. The links also extended to the volatility relationship as evidenced by significant volatility spillovers across the markets. While volatility spillovers from the money market were found in the stock market and the foreign exchange market, no volatility spillovers from these markets were found in the money market. Thus the money market was identified as the major source of volatility spillovers and shocks in the financial markets. These results highlighted the role of monetary policy in the financial system, specifically the need to make monetary policy stable and predictable to ensure that interest rate shocks are not an additional source of instability. / KMBT_363 / Adobe Acrobat 9.54 Paper Capture Plug-in

Stabilisation d’un sédiment marin pollué en utilisant des résidus de bauxite : évaluation de la mobilité d’éléments trace / Stabilization of contaminated marine sediment by addition of bauxite residues : evaluation of potential mobility of trace elements

Taneez, Mehwish 24 June 2016 (has links)
As, Mo) / Marine sediments concentrate various pollutants and subsequent sedimentation of harbors and ports require periodic dredging to maintain satisfactory depth of waterways. Direct land deposition of contaminated marine dredged sediments pose risk to the environment due to possible leaching of trace elements. In this context, we aimed to study the feasibility of trace elements stabilization by mixing 5% and 20% of bauxite residues (bauxaline®, bauxsol and neutralized bauxaline®) with composted dredged marine sediment. The treatment efficiency was evaluated by monitoring the leached trace elements concentration and toxicity of sediment leachates. 20% amendment application successfully stabilized cationic pollutants (Cu, Cd, Zn) up to 40-80%, and decreased the toxicity of sediment leachates. Whereas, anionic pollutants (As, Mo) were less immobilized require further investigation

Étude des propriétés physico-chimiques et mécaniques des matériaux cimentaires à base d’oxyde de magnésium / Study of physico-chemical and mechanical properties of cementitious materials based on magnesium oxide

Le Rouzic, Mathieu 10 July 2014 (has links)
Despite the fact that they are known since the early 20th century, their use in civil engineering is fairly limited. These materials are used for road repairs where the fast compressive strength development is an advantage. Recently they have also been used in wastes stabilization/solidification (S/S), especially with wastes incompatible with Portland cement. The challenges of the use of these cements are related to the nature of their formation reaction: fast, very exothermic, with a very short setting time (only a few minutes). The bonding phase, k-struvite (MgKPO4.6H2O), is obtained from magnesium oxide mixed in water with monopotassium phosphate (KH2PO4).MgO + KH2PO4 + 5H2O  MgKPO4.6H2OThe setting mechanisms are still poorly known and various theories, involving or not secondary product formation, have been suggested. Our researches have aimed to understand the setting mechanisms, as well as the influence of the formulation parameters on the properties of the magnesium phosphate cement. Results show that the formation of k-struvite involved a precipitation-dissolution reaction of an intermediate product, the newberyite (MgHPO4.3H2O). Formation reactions of these two products are controlled by the supersaturation rate and the pH of the solution. The study highlights the strong effect of water on the properties of fresh cement paste. With a low mass ratio e/c in comparison of Portland cement (ratio e/c between 0,1 and 0,25), a slight modification of the ratio (0,02) leads to a segregation and a surface heterogeneity of the cement paste. Among the formulation parameters, the molar ratio MgO/KH2PO4 (Mg/P) seems the most important parameter. Indeed, it impacts most of the properties of the magnesium phosphate cement (compressive strength, setting time, reaction heat, paste fluidity …). Low Mg/P ratios lead to poor water resistance, to crystals formation inside the microstructure that can be seen on the surface of the sample (an efflorescence appearance), and to important swelling of the paste, leading to the cracking of the samples. After the parametric study, a magnesium phosphate cement paste has been defined. Dimensional changes and chemical shrinkage measurement were conducted to understand the mechanisms involved in this swelling phenomenon. In support, microstructural analyses (SEM, XRD, TGA) and leaching tests complete the experimental campaign. The results confirm the influence of a low Mg/P ratio on cement swelling and water resistance. Finally, a study on various additions to the paste has been conducted, with the purpose of improving the cement paste performances. It shows that the addition of an inert filler (siliceous sand or fly ashes) has a retarding effect and reduced the reaction heat

Commande H2 - H∞ non standard des systèmes implicites / Extended H2 - H∞ controller synthesis for linear time invariant descriptor systems

Feng, Yu 13 December 2011 (has links)
The descriptor systems have been attracting the attention of many researchers over recent decades due to their capacity to preserve the structure of physical systems and to describe static constraints and impulsive behaviors. Within the descriptor framework, the contributions of this dissertation are threefold: i) review of existing results for state-space systems, ii) generalization of classical results to descriptor systems, iii) exact and analytical solutions to non standard control problems. A realization independent Kalman-Yakubovich-Popov (KYP) lemma and dilated LMI characterizations are deduced for descriptor systems. The solvability and corresponding numerical algorithms of generalized Sylvester equations and generalized algebraic Riccati equations (GARE) associated with descriptor systems are provided. In addition, the simultaneous H∞ control problem is considered through extending recently reported results. A sufficient condition is proposed through a combination of a generalized algebraic Riccati equation and a set of LMIs. Moreover, the nonstandard H2 and H∞ control problems with unstable and/or nonproper weighting functions or subject to regulation constraints are addressed. These contributions allow, without approximation or transformation, dealing with many practical problems defined within H2 or H∞ control methodologies, where the control signals are penalized at high frequency or unstable internal models specified by external signals is involved.

Caracterização dos farelos de arroz irrigado e de sequeiro submetidos a diferentes técnicas de estabilização / Nutritional composition of rice bran submitted to different stabilization procedures

Simone Aparecida dos Santos Conceição Faria 03 December 2008 (has links)
Samples of rice bran from low land and upland systems, provided by EMBRAPA and several rice industries, and submitted to different stabilization techniques, were analyzed. The evaluations of variations in nutrient contents related to the centesimal composition, minerals, fatty acids and amylose had the objective of contributing to data that allow a better characterisation of the product quality and consequently a better utilization of rice bran for human consumption. The obtained results show that the origin and different stabilization techniques influence the composition of the samples. Production system for upland rice released a rice bran with higher contents of lipids, proteins and fatty acids, while irrigated rice bran contained more minerals and dietary fibres. The employed stabilization methods were those defined as homemade (toasted in a microwave oven or cooker) and industrial treatments such as direct (thermoplastic extrusion) or indirect stabilization (based on rice milling after parboiling). Within the stabilization methods, the toasting with a cooker was the most adequate, while parboilization allowed a valorization of the nutritional composition of rice bran.
