Kineziterapijos poveikis 10-15 metų vaikų, turinčių cerebrinį paralyžių, jutimų ir bendrosios motorikos raidai / Influence of Kinezitherapy on Development of Senses and General Motorics in 10-15 Year Old Children with Cerebral Palsy

Petrikaitė-Gedutienė, Justina 10 May 2006 (has links)
Closely interrelated motoric and sensoric mechanisms are the ones of the main components of the motoric system. Most motoric functions are dependent on integration of sensoric systems. The greatest focus during KT procedures is given to making a movement and postural maintenance, irrespective of the importance of sensoric information. Therefore, sensoric research on the children with cerebral palsy remains relevant and requires more thorough examination. Purpose of the paper is to overview KT principles applied in case of cerebral palsy and define the influence of kinesitherapy on development of senses and general motorics in 10-15 year old children. The following tasks were set in the paper: 1) To evaluate the sensoric disorder in children with cerebral palsy, depending on the form and type of cerebral palsy; 2) Establish the developmental level of general motorics in children with cerebral palsy; 3) Evaluate influence of KT on development of senses and general motorics in 10-15 year old children with cerebral palsy. 12 children with cerebral palsy took place in the research. Examinees had specific forms of cerebral palsy including spastic hemiplegia, or hemiparesis, spastic diplegia, spastic tetraplegia and type of ataxic palsy. In the course of research, KT procedures had been applied for 9 months. The following research methods were applied in the paper: literary analysis; testing (Assessment Test on the Function of Bodily Movements; Methods of Research on Senses... [to full text]

The experiences of professionals utilizing sensory–motor play with young children in Gestalt play therapy / Elizabeth Sarah Janse van Rensburg

Janse van Rensburg, Liza January 2011 (has links)
The aim of this study was to explore and describe the experiences of professionals utilizing sensory-motor play (SMP) with young children (YC) in Gestalt play therapy in order to provide recommendations for professionals and to create an awareness of the value of SMP in Gestalt play therapy. Coming from an occupational therapy background, the researcher became aware of the potential value of utilizing sensorymotor play in Gestalt play therapy with YC. SMP, being a vital part of the sensory integration developmental process of YC, promotes body awareness through muscle movement and control. Awareness is one of the major aims of Gestalt play therapy. All the senses contribute to YC's awareness, including the frequently unacknowledged vestibu lar and proprioceptive senses. In order to treat YC holistically, the developmental importance of SMP should be acknowledged and integrated in the therapy process. Professionals young children working in this field, coming from diverse educational backgrounds, do not necessarily have the knowledge or experience of the utilization of SMPwith YC. A qualitative research approach with a case study research design was adopted in order to explore and describe the experiences of professionals regarding the utilization of SMP with YC in Gestalt play therapy, through applied research. The empirical data was collected by conducting two focus group discussions with professionals from diverse educational backgrounds. Two main themes with different sub-themes and categories were identified by analysing the data. The main themes are that participants are of the opinion that SMP enhances the therapeutic relationship and that SMP has a self-regulatory function. The researcher concludes that professionals gained a new awareness regarding the subject of discussion and experienced that uti lizing SMP in Gestalt play therapy with YC can promote and facilitate whole body/mind awareness and integrated healing. / Thesis (M.A. (Psychology))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2012.

Sensorisk integrationsåtgärd i form av ett sinnesrum för barn med intellektuell funktionsnedsättning, ADHD och/eller autism : En översiktlig litteraturstudie/ “Scoping Review” / Sensory integration intervention as a Multisensory room for children with intellectual disabilities, ADHD and/or autism : A Scoping review

Andersson, Elin, Andersson, Ebba January 2018 (has links)
Children diagnosed with intellectual disability, ADHD och autism may experience that they have a reduced participation in their social network and the community. These diagnoses have symptoms that may have negative impact on the performance in the daily activities. According to studies, one of the symptoms that has an impact on the occupational performance for these children is the sensory processing of the stimuli in the child’s environment. The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to describe how a multisensory room can be used as an intervention for children with intellectual disabilities, ADHD and/or autism to increase participation. The bachelor thesis was a Scoping Review where 20 articles and chapters from a book was included. Inclusion criteria for the articles was studies about children to the age of 18 years, diagnosed with ADHD and/-or autism, use of a multisensory room and sensory processing in children with ADHD and autism. The articles could be a quantitative-, qualitative-, or systematic review studies. The reference lists of the systematic reviews studies were reviewed to exclude that an article wasn't already reviewed. The articles would be written in Swedish or English, published between 2005 and May 2018, would be available in full text and peer reviewed, The results describes how a multisensory room can be used as an intervention for the population of the bachelor thesis, the effects and how the multisensory room offers different stimuli that can satisfy the child’s sensory needs. This can contribute to a positive effect by increasing the occupational performance and participation. The conclusion is that occupational therapists can use multisensory rooms as an intervention and it can be offered to children with ADHD and autism and it shows a positive effect on their participation in their occupational performance.

Asperger's Syndrome : a description of sensory work with children

Van Vollenstee, Lindsay 31 March 2006 (has links)
This study describes three case studies with three children diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, the focus of the dissertation being the sensory processing issues that these children experience, the limited intervention regarding this subject, and the possible emotional connotations that may accompany these difficulties. In the study, three children partook in six Gestalt Play Therapy sessions, where sensory stimulants were utilised as a medium of expression. The data was analysed, with the emphasis on the children's responses to the sensory work and the emotions that could be linked to this experience. A detailed description of the sessions is provided. It was found that these children were able to make use of the Gestalt Play Therapy setting, along with the sensory work, as a means of emotional expression. / Social Work / M. Diac. (Play Therapy)

Sensoriese stimulasie van die laerskoolkind met disleksie

Swart, Elsie Susanna Elizabeth 30 November 2005 (has links)
Dyslexia is a difficulty in learning to read and write, with many implications for the children because of emotional and behavioral problems. The suspicion that they might experience problems with sensory integration as well, is confirmed in the literature. The purpose of sensory stimulation in Gestalt playtherapy is to raise the level of awareness of themselves and in this research, playtherapy was done with three primary school children with dyslexia. Information was further obtained through a literature study, semi-structured interviews and observations. It was clear that the sensory stimulation was part of the therapeutic sessions and led to thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. The qualitative characteristics which the sensations had for the children were observed and confirmed by the literature. Conclusions and recommendations were made according to the objectives of the study and this research made an important contribution to understanding the sensory awareness of children with dyslexia. / Social Work / M.Diac. (Spelterapie)
