We present here a syntaxic analysis of the Vietnamese language spoken in Ho Chi Minh City, in line with the functional syntax introduced by André Martinet and developed later by his followers. In a first part, we examined the extent of noun/verb opposition in Vietnamese. After a synthesis of work on this subject, we present our own analysis of the lexical classes, relying on strictly syntactic criteria. A detailed study of the syntactic modalités (undeterminable determinants) - nominalizing undeterminable determinants, undeterminable determinants of degree, predicative undeterminable determinants and injunctive undeterminable determinants - was necessary. These units are used to distinguish different behaviors, and leads to the identification of major lexical classes in Vietnamese: nominals, adjectives, modals and ‘verbals’. It appears that these classes of units are organized along a continuum. In a second part, the analysis focuses on the different types of predicative structures in Vietnamese. The variety of structures - nuclear and connective - is central to the study as well as the identification of the different functions. Finally, we present an analysis of "serial verb constructions" very common in Vietnamese, but actually reflecting very different realities. Throughout this study, we pay particular attention to the variation and change (reanalysis, lexicalizations, grammaticalizations), referring to the dynamics of the various structures and of the Vietnamese language itself.

Identificação de padrões de criminosos seriais usando inteligência artificial associada a neurônios espelhos. / Identification of serial criminal using artificial intelligence associate to mirror neurons.Merege, Fernando 02 September 2014 (has links)
The serial criminals who operate in the commission of the crime of theft have different modes of operation (modus operandi) and which may be identified through the analysis of forensic examinations using neural networks.
This mean, manufacturers boost power and voltage of the embedded energy network. Nevertheless, the lack of an electric arc is a risk that is often the cause of the crash or operated occurrences. This thesis contributions concerns identification issue and electric arc fault detection on an energy distribution smart grid of HVDC network dedicated to avionic. The first line of this manuscript is exploratory. It covers behavioural observation and arc phenomenology in the grounded sphere of aeronautic (in particular emulated altitude by pressure). The second line of research deals with analysis, clarification and development of reliable approach of electric arc default detection through a central energy distribution on resistive charges. Five methods have been initiated throughout this thesis paper. They are based on several characteristic (time, frequency and time-frequency) of the line current. An indicator is produced at the end of each method. Subsequently, the indicator is used by a logic of discrimination according to each criterion. The non-deterministic behaviour of arc notably testing conditions (current, voltage, electrode materials, etc. makes detection difficult by a simple threshold on result of criteria. In this work, a new approach of arc fault discrimination is proposed. This used a proportional and variable threshold according to the current, load or noise variations from the system. The combined outcome of method results to a decision providing protection. To confirm experimentally proposed algorithms, a wide range database has been established. That included equally resistive and inductive signals with both arcs and load variations without arc fault so as to ensure that any detection is not mistakenly occurring. The upshot of this research work has been implemented in real time protection device prototype for HVDC +-270V smart-grid

A grammar of DaakakaPrince, Kilu von 05 October 2012 (has links)
The dissertation is a descriptive Grammar of the Oceanic language Daakaka. The language is spoken by about one thousand speakers on the volcanic island of Ambrym in the pacific nation of Vanuatu. The grammar was written in the course of a documentation project which started in 2009, and before which the language had neither been described nor written down. Among the many remarkable properties of the language are a very system of nominal possession, semitransitive and pluractional verbs and an exceptional range of serial verb constructions.

Around 2008, a literary genre called "zhichang xiaoshuo" arouses enthusiasm in China: bestsellers with their adaptations generate several hundred works in the same vein. This phenomenon that we call "white-collar literature" is literary, socio-economic and cultural at once. New in the history of literature, this literature is atypical due to the professional identity of its authors, its hybrid forms, and also its production methods. Four works, including most publicized and most original, constitute our core corpus, and offer a sample of the richness of the phenomenon. Our work takes a two-pronged approach, both socio-historical and literary. For works of the corpus, we first study the plot, the characters, the textual structure and narrative techniques. We examine in parallel two fictions by renowned writers who portrayed the working world of the early and late 1980s, respectively, and two fictions in the “guanchang” and the “shangchang” genres at the turn of the century or contemporary with “zhichang xiaoshuo”. The economic, political and cultural context in which the phenomenon appeared is widely studied. We also analyze the adaptations as variants of the literary work, and try to explain their differences. Finally, we explore the functions of this popular literature in twenty-first century Chinese society which is, on the one hand, proud of its prosperity and enjoying the benefits of new technologies; and on the other hand, marked by the trauma of its past and by a general loss of bearings.

This thesis deals with the works of Ada Cambridge (1844 – 1926) and Mary Fortune (1833 – 1909), two Australian colonial women writers who have been neglected and long forgotten, yet who were very popular in the nineteenth century. It focuses on how these women, who left the United Kingdom to settle in Australia, represent their colonial experience, as well as on the influence of their narratives, mostly published in newspapers, on women’s status in the colonial society. More precisely, it is a study of their experience as women writers, a study that includes the context of production and reception of their work as well as their respective representations of cultural and gender difference in the Australian colonies. This analysis includes texts previously buried in the Australian literary archives, such as serial novels, short stories and press articles published in colonial newspapers such as The Australian Journal, The Age, and The Australasian. By inscribing these texts in their historical context, this thesis reveals their importance in the social context of their time and reconsiders the literary choices of these writers, long decried by the dominant nationalist and masculinist vision of Australian literary history and criticism. This thesis thus has two main objectives: developing our knowledge of the Australian colonial experience by taking into account little known or unknown narratives, and studying the poetics of Ada Cambridge’s and Mary Fortune’s narratives in the light of their production context in order to reassess these texts as well as their place in Australian literary history.

Previous issue date: 2008-05-19 / Even it has been conceived to claim the entertainment, not the education,
television is endowed with enormous strength training, as it can unite two great
powers: the information and entertainment. Through the approach of the viewer daily
life, achieved mainly through the fictional narrative, television can create more
identification between the viewer and characters, transmitting the desired information.
This research aimed to analyze the fictional narrative addressed to brazilian teens,
holding as object the program "Confissões de Adolescente . The problem that we
tried discuss was: Through the fiction, can we discuss subjects deemed controversial
or dense? How is its approaching? Our hypothesis is that this idea is plausible. Due
to the structure of episodes, "Confissões de Adolescente" had the possibility of
working each theme in more depth. As such, abortion, drug, policy, among others.
The objective of the research was to examine structurally the program, bringing to the
highlight the resources used to capture the attention of teenage public and create
identification between them and the program itself. It was intended also to identify
how the themes were entered and treated in the episodes and how the program was
positioned in relation to them. The research had as theoretical basis on authors as
Arlindo Machado (analysis television), Ana Maria Balogh (fictional speech), Joan
Ferrés (socialization through television), besides Sigmund Freud (Psychoanalysis),

Application des nouvelles approches de cristallisation et de cristallographie sérielle à l’étude structurale de complexes enzymes : ARNt / Application of new crystallization approaches and serial crystallography to the structural study of enzyme/tRNA complexesDe Wijn, Raphaël 14 December 2018 (has links)
This thesis focuses on two complementary aspects, the development and implementation of new approaches of crystallization and of serial crystallography as well as their use in the structural study of enzymes/tRNA complexes. Crystallography is the most used method in structural biology, but it presents delicate points. Different methods were implemented in this work to overcome these points, which led to the resolution of the structure of the CCA-adding enzyme of the psychrophilic organism Planococcus halocryophilus and to the study of its structural adaptation to the cold; novel microfluidic crystallization chips that have been used for the resolution of several structures by serial crystallography at room-temperature; finally the Xtal Controller used for the study of nucleation and crystal growth events with the purpose of preparing samples for analysis under XFEL radiation. Among other biological systems, this thesis presents the study and characterization of two families of inhibitors targeting aspartyl-tRNA synthetases, including the one of the pathogenic organism Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

On Asymmetric Distributed Source Coding For Wireless Sensor NetworksSamar, * 12 1900 (has links)
We are concerned with addressing the worst-case distributed source coding (DSC) problem in asymmetric and interactive communication scenarios and its application to data-gathering wireless sensor networks in enhancing their lifetime.
First, we propose a unified canonical framework, obtained by considering different communication constraints and objectives, to address the variants of DSC problem. Second, as for the worst-case information-theoretic analysis, the notion of information entropy cannot be used, we propose information ambiguity, derive its various properties, and prove that it is a valid information measure. Third, for a few variants of our interest of DSC problem, we provide the communication protocols and prove their optimality.
In a typical data-gathering sensor network, the base-station that wants to gather sensor data is often assumed to be much more resourceful with respect to energy, computation, and communication capabilities compared to sensor nodes. Therefore, we argue that in such networks, the base-station should bear the most of the burden of communication and computation in the network. Allowing the base-station and sensor nodes to interactively communicate with each other enables us to carry this out. Our definition of sensor network lifetime allows us to reduce the problem of maximizing the worst-case network lifetime to the problem of minimizing the number of bits communicated by the nodes in the worst-case, which is further reduced to the worst-case DSC problem in asymmetric and interactive communication scenarios, with the assumption that the base-station knows the support-set of sensor data. We demonstrate that the optimal solutions of the energy-oblivious DSC problem variants cannot be directly applied to the data-gathering sensor networks, as those may be inefficient in the energy-constrained sensor networks. We address a few energy-efficient variants of DSC problem and provide optimal communication protocols for the sensor networks, based on those variants. Finally, we combine distributed source coding with two other system level opportunities of channel coding and cooperative nature of the nodes to further enhance the lifetime of the sensor networks. We address various scenarios and demonstrate the dependence of the computational complexity of the network lifetime maximization problem on the complex interplay of above system-level opportunities.
