Coronanyheter : En kvalitativ studie om hur covid-19 framställts i svenska dagstidningar online under våren och sommaren 2020

Backman, Hannah January 2020 (has links)

On-Task Behavior for Students in a Resource Classroom Setting: Effects of Activity Schedules on On-Task Behavior

Mattson, Stephanie L. 01 August 2018 (has links)
Students who receive special education services in resource classroom settings often engage in low levels of on-task behavior during independent work time. Given the independent work demands in middle school classrooms, it is crucial for students who receive services in a resource classroom to engage in high levels of on-task behavior. The researchers examined the effects of activity schedules on on-task behavior, on-schedule behavior, and percentage of work problems correct in four middle school students receiving special education services in a resource math classroom. Results of the study demonstrate that on-task and on-schedule behavior increased for all participants following the implementation of the activity schedule in both math and language arts classroom settings. Both students and teachers indicated that they liked the intervention and the activity schedule improved on-task behavior. Results of this study extend the use of activity schedules to a novel setting and participant population.

Perception of inclusion in preschools : European teacher's perspective - A scoping literature review

Rogic, Romana January 2019 (has links)
Background: Inclusion is a term that stands for fully including untypically developed chil- dren in regular educational setting. It should be implemented in all of the present educa- tional settings. However, the definition of inclusion and the way of implementing it differs from countries and cultures, which makes it a problem for having a united view on it. More- over, there are different factors that can occur and have an impact of understanding the term. Aim: The aim of this study is to review the existing literature on the perception of inclu- siveness and the term ˝inclusion˝ from preschool teacher’s perspective in preschool settings in Europe and the different factors that have effect on the perceiving. Method: A literature search on the databases of ERIC and PsycINFO and a hand search on the reference lists of the relevant articles was conducted. The articles that are included were recent peer reviewed studies published in English, reporting perception of inclusion and factors that affect it. Results: In the seven studies that have been included, preschool teachers have overall pos- itive attitude towards inclusion. They reported the inclusion is important to be implemented in preschool settings. However, most of them reported that the implementation of the in- clusion is needed, they do not feel secure enough and eligible to do it in a correct way. Furthermore, group of factors that affect the perception of inclusion and implementation of it occurred. The factors that occurred are lack of resources, no complete education and different understanding of what inclusion stand for and what should the implementation be alike. Conclusion: Considering the importance of inclusion as an ongoing process in preschools, education of professional staff for it is a first step in order to implement inclusion. Moreover, making the strong basis in preschool for inclusion will give the staff the confidence and eligible knowledge to provide the inclusive education for every participant of the environ-ment.

INTERMEDIA AGENDA-SETTING RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN POLITICAL BLOGS AND LEGACY NEWS MEDIA: A STUDY OF THE `OBAMA-IS-A-MUSLIM' RUMOR

Naser, Md. Abu 01 May 2014 (has links) (PDF)
A number of incidents such as the "Obama-is-a-Muslim" rumor during the 2008 presidential election suggest that influential political blogs are playing a major role in setting the agenda of the legacy media. The power of the political blogosphere is forcing media practitioners, communication scholars and political theorists to re-conceptualize how issues arrive on the political and public agenda. This new phenomenon challenges the fundamental assumptions of agenda-setting theory to the extent that the 42-year old model, including the notion of a shared public agenda, should be reevaluated. By situating news agenda research within a larger intellectual context of agenda setting, this dissertation explored the intermedia agenda-setting relationship between political blogs and legacy news media, such as newspapers, network TV, and cable TV channels. Analyzing the contents count data of political blogs and legacy media and Internet Search Volume Index (SVI) data, this dissertation explored how coverage of a certain issue by top-ranking and influential political blogs may predict the coverage of the same issue by legacy news media. Employing a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods, the results of the study revealed that political blogs significantly predicted the coverage of the legacy media on the "Obama-is-a-Muslim" rumor over a period of five days. The results also showed that the coverage of the rumor by both the political blogs and legacy media significantly predicted the level of Internet searches related to the rumor on all five days. The study also found positive and statistically significant correlations between the coverage by the political blogs and legacy media on the Obama-is-a-Muslim rumor and the volume of Internet searches on that rumor. The correlation was high on day 1, and decreased on each subsequent day. The study also found bi-directional agenda-setting relationships between the coverage of the political blogs and legacy media on the `Obama-is-a-Muslim' rumor. However, there was hardly any bi-directional relationship between the coverage of political blogs of the rumor and the volume of Internet searches related to the rumor. Although, the study found bi-directional relationship between the coverage of the legacy media on the rumor and the volume of Internet searched related to the rumor, the relationship faded away quickly. However, the study findings suggest that the perceived power of political blogs should be seen as trivial and ephemeral while that of the legacy news media should be seen as substantial and indelible in setting the public agenda. These findings may broaden our understanding of intermedia agenda-setting.

ETHICAL ASSESSMENT OF SOCIAL SUPPORT AS A CRITERION IN KIDNEY TRANSPLANT CANDIDACY IN AN URBAN, NORTH PHILADELPHIA SETTING

Odusanya, Rachael Eniola January 2023 (has links)
When it comes to inclusion of social support as a criterion for kidney transplantation, there is lack of standardization and understanding of what it truly means to staff, clinicians, even patients and their families. Despite the variability in what “social support” means to many kidney transplant teams and centers, studies (mostly through survey studies) have shown that inadequate social support serves as an exclusion for patients awaiting kidney transplantation. With inadequate social support serving as an exclusion criterion and without it being properly addressed, inequities currently present in the kidney transplant considerations may be perpetuated. This thesis aims to tangibly define this social support criterion within an urban setting – North Philadelphia. Through REDCap survey administration to practitioners and support staff that handle candidacy for kidney transplantation, we will get a sense of how social support defined by wealth, marriage relationship and parental relationship affect views on the ethics of kidney transplant considerations. Discussions will also be applied to pediatric settings. This thesis will be a commentary on whether the current transplant system fulfills the standards of urban bioethics principles. This will present a framework for social support referrals to be implemented as a necessary resource if a patient on the transplant list presents with inadequate social support. I will argue support of the urban bioethical principles of social justice and solidarity for the purpose of helping healthcare systems, government and insurance understand that such resources should be funded by them to support candidates who truly need it. / Urban Bioethics

Assessing the Feasibility of Integrating Trauma-Informed Practices Into the Primary Care Setting

Quizhpi, Cristian, Schetzina, Karen, Wood, David 15 April 2019 (has links)
Background: Disadvantaged social, economic, and environmental factors create Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), which can harm a child’s developing brain and have lasting effects on health. These experiences range from physical, emotional, or sexual abuse to parental divorce or substance abuse. Afflicted children have a significantly increased risk of behavioral and health issues later in childhood, as well as adult onset chronic health problems. We hypothesize that primary care ACEs screening, intervention by a primary care-behavior health care integrated care team, and referrals for parenting support and resources will be feasible, acceptable, and beneficial from parent and provider perspectives. Methods: Parents with an ACE score of four or higher at the one-month checkup will be offered The Incredible Years interactive video intervention during checkups through 9 months of age. Parents or children with an ACE score of four or higher at the 1-4 year well child visits will be referred to participate in Nurturing Parenting group visits provided by a partnering community agency. Both programs are evidence-based, family-centered trauma-informed programs supporting positive child rearing practices. Process and outcome variables will be assessed using surveys administered after patient screening and following each program session, and primary care providers will be surveyed at the end of the project period. Process and outcome measures include; number of families screened for ACEs, number referred to parenting programs, the number of program sessions completed and attendance and changes in selfassessed parenting competence. This study will demonstrate the feasibility of integrating traumainformed practices into primary pediatric care, document an increase in referrals to community support services and document an increase in self assessed parenting competence among parents who have suffered 4 or more ACEs. Results: Preliminary survey results show that families evaluate the process of undergoing ACEs screening and follow up discussion with providers in a favorable manner. Additionally, families with elevated ACEs scores that meet criteria for additional interventions, received the corresponding program in as acceptable and appropriate. Provider surveys are forthcoming, however the additional screening, intervention provided by the Behavioral Health Team, and feasibility survey collection has not affected the clinic’s productivity or delayed patient care. Upon initially starting screening and survey administration at clinic, an error was noted in the reporting of ACEs screening results in the EMR. Data collection was delayed while the EMR function was edited by IT administrator. Conclusions: Our multidisciplinary team will continue to collect data and continue to evaluate and streamline all aspects of the project in order to enhance the care of our patients and families. Additionally, will evaluate concerns and recommendations noted with provider administration survey at conclusion of data collection.

The Status of CSR in Corporate America: A Content Analysis of the Organizations with the Top-Performing CSR Programs Within the Fortune 500

Thomas, Laura C. 27 June 2014 (has links) (PDF)
Corporate social responsibility has become an accepted part of business for organizations of any size. Organizations are not only expected to be profitable and successful, but they are also expected to be responsible global citizens. However, though this has become an accepted part of business, there remain many areas of CSR research that are under researched. This study examined the top 16 CSR programs of organizations headquartered in the United States to better understand what they communicate about their programs, their relationship with both the news media and government entities, which issues they address the most, and where they implement their programs throughout the world. This study found that the organizations examined concerned themselves the most with stakeholder involvement and engagement. It also found that nearly half of the initiatives analyzed centered around environmental issues. These organizations implemented programs that had a strong fit both with what they as an organization do well and also with issues that align with their corporate values.

Flyktingmottagande i perspektiv. En kvalitativ textanalys av dagstidningars rapportering om flyktingmottagande i Sverige

Silander, Sofia, Sundberg, Marie January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this study is to examine how daily newspapers in Sweden are reportingabout the reception of refugees. To do this we have done a qualitative textanalysis of different text articles published in Dagens Nyheter, Göteborgs-Postenand Sydsvenskan. We have created three different problem perspectives that willshow how and in what way the daily newspapers are writing about the receptionof refugees in Sweden. We used agenda-setting theory as one of our theoreticalperspectives. The theory states that those issues that media addresses morefrequent to will be those that people tends to think are the most important socialissues. Research shows that media today has gotten more power to sett the agendaand to create (new) social problems. Using agenda-setting theory gives us thelegitimacy to study our material in the way we want to.Our text analysis indicates that the articles are portraying the reception of refugeesas a threat to Sweden the Swedish welfare system and that the reception ofrefugees, are and will become, problematic for Sweden in one or another way.
