Situerad Moral : Är det tanken som räknas? / Situated Morals : Is it the thought that counts?Molander, Fanny January 2020 (has links)
How do we attribute moral responsibility, and why? The notion of free will is heavily debated within philosophy, thus questioning whether we can truly be morally responsible for our actions. One of the arguments said to threaten the notion of free will is the vast collection of situationist literature that seem to show that human behavior is often more influenced by situational factors rather than personality traits. The Explanation Hypothesis (EH) is a psychological hypothesis that make general claims about everyday moral judgements, as well as accounting for philosophical issues such as the inconsistency of folk-intuitions on these issues. This study used surveys to test EH experimentally, also investigating folk-intuitions on moral responsibility in scenarios related to the situationist literature. The results support the hypothesis according to an earlier, similar study, as well as showing that the participants moral judgements were not influenced by being made aware of strong, psychosocial phenomena that seem to have had an impact on agents behaviors. The implications for the philosophical debate on free will and moral responsibility as well as the notion of determinism is discussed and further research is proposed.

Seditious theology : imaginative re-identification, punk and the ministry of JesusJohnson, Mark January 2011 (has links)
The following thesis investigates the British punk movement of the mid-late seventies and suggests that, by performing acts of imaginative re-identification, we may gain greater insights into both the phenomenon of punk and aspects of Jesus’ life, ministry, and teaching despite their axiomatic and sometimes problematic differences. To do this we explore the power of the sartorial creations that the movement adopted and the way in which they conveyed an oppositional protest message and stance. We explore punk graphics and the way in which they could offer a targeted critique of the nation. We look at punk performances and how they confrontationally engaged with their audiences and what they wanted to elicit in return. We reflect on women in punk, punk in Northern Ireland and the relationship between punk and the black community and the degree to which punk exhibited a counter-cultural attitude to relationships. Concluding our look at punk we investigate how society, the authorities and commerce reacted to the movement, before investigating punk as a trans-historical essence. Having explored punk and established imaginative connections we then revisit aspects of Jesus’ life and consider him as a subversive who negated some of the national symbols of Israel, collided with Jewish national authority and reversed many of the nation’s perspectives. We look at the more confrontational nature of Jesus, his use of symbolic physical statements and his interaction with women, teaching on enemies and the way he related to the outcast. We then conclude by showing the degree to which the present-day church has been absorbed into the surrounding culture and explore two instances in post-war theology where there has been a recovery of the more seditious pattern within Jesus’ life before seeing whether there is anything that the church may learn from imaginatively identifying with punk.

Pflichtenkollisionen bei christlichen Leitern in Gemeinde und Geschäftswelt: Lernen von Jesus und den Aposteln bei Lukas = Conflicting duties with Christian leaders in churches and business: learn from Jesus and the apostles by LukeViselka, Martin 30 June 2006 (has links)
In diesem Zusammenhang
This analysis consists of six main sections. Following the introduction of the theme (I), various
terms are defined (II), and the contents are distinguished from related topics, with pertinent
reasons given. The third (III) section consists of the results of my research on the classic
typologies of conflicting duties. In the past, this subject has been widely discussed in the
theological and philosophical circles. In the fourth (IV) section, conflicting duties are examined
in light of Luke's writings. The goal of this exegetic analysis is to show how Jesus and
the apostles met such situations, and how they dealt with them. In connection with this topic,
the question of possible guilt, as a consequence, is researched. The fifth (V) section deals
with proper behaviour toward conflicting duties. On one hand, the position of the author is
established, and on the other hand a proposal is offered for a prioritization of values as a guiding
principle in conflict situations. In the last section (VI), the findings of the research are
applied practically to seven concrete examples of conflicting duties within the church and
society. / Systematic Theology & Theological Ethics / M. Th. (Theological Ethics)

Frank O'Hara & the city : situationist psychogeography, postwar poetics, & capitalist culture.Shweiry, Zein 06 1900 (has links)
This dissertation adopts a fresh interdisciplinary perspective on reading the postwar urban poems of New York School poet Frank O’Hara. Through French Situationist philosophy, and particularly the writings of Guy Debord, the study explores the spatial and textual relations of O’Hara’s urban and cultural representations in postwar poetry. With the help of psychogeography and its “anti-techniques” of détournement and dérive, the research focuses on O’Hara’s uses of appropriation in constructing his urban assemblages.
The dissertation considers postwar poems from The Collected Poems of Frank O’Hara and offers Situationist readings and understandings of O’Hara’s modernist (urban and cultural) space. The choice of specific poems highlights O’Hara’s unequivocal inspiration by French poetry and focuses on their urbane, experimental and erotic aspects. The first two chapters propose ways in decoding psychogeographical approaches in poetic (de)composition for reading O’Hara’s poems, while the third delves into O’Hara’s uses of camp in dialogue with Situationist politics that highlight not only the capitalist and the cultural, but also the erotic and the queer.
