Omtanke eller misstanke? : En social nätverksanalys av organisering bland företag i assistansbranschen / Consideration or suspicion? : A social network analysis of organisation among companies in the assistance Industry

Bergsvåg, Åshild Grinde, Färdvall, Linda January 2023 (has links)
The aim of the study was to highlight potential collaborations between companies in the assistance industry, and between companies in the assistance industry and other companies, as well as what these possible collaborations were like at the industry level. The purpose of the exercise was to gain a deeper understanding of what organised crime can look like when crime is facilitated by using companies as criminal tools. The research was based on register data from the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate, concerning companies that have had their licences to provide personal assistance withdrawn, and on information concerning the management boards and actual directors of these companies. The social network analysis method was used to study these collaborations. Furthermore, a descriptive analysis of the assistance companies' cooperation at the industry level was made. The results indicated a low degree of cooperation between the assistance companies that had their licences withdrawn. However, board involvement in other companies was common among representatives of these companies, especially in other assistance companies, but also in companies that provide legal and financial advice. Based on theory and previous research, there were good reasons to assume the existence of cross-industry criminal co-operation.

The Role of Informal Controls in the Management Control Package : A Case Study of a Hybrid Organization

Savklint, Oliver F. January 2022 (has links)
Purpose – This thesis aims to investigate the use and design of informal controls inan organization’s management control package (MCP). Informal controls areoperationalized as the intra-organizational social network.  Design/methodology/approach – An inductive case study is used to investigate ahybrid organization. The thesis uses data from interviews, documents, and a surveyto gather information about the organization’s MCP and intra-organizational socialnetwork.  Findings – It was found that the use of informal controls in the case organizationwas related to the spreading of clans and beliefs. The intra-organizational socialnetwork acts as conduits for clans, while the social network at the individual levelrelates to the spreading of certain beliefs. Furthermore, it was found that informalcontrols play a part in the design of different groups’ MCPs. Specifically, thatcertain groups use informal controls differently depending on whether theycoordinate other groups or directly work with the ongoing operations.  Research limitation/implications – This study has implications for the MCPresearch, as it is the first empirical study to operationalize informal controls associal networks in an MCP. It shed light on the role of informal controls in theMCP. A limitation is that no observational data has been used to analyze theorganizational culture, which may have affected the conclusions. Originality/value – This is the first empirical study that operationalizes informalcontrols as social networks in an MCP. The study also presents the MCPs of 38intra-organizational groups and classifies them according to configurations.

Analyzing research communities in Enterprise Architecture : A Data-Driven Systematic Literature Review / Analysering av forskargrupper inom Enterprise Architecture : En datadriven systematisk litteraturöversikt

Tham, Emelie January 2021 (has links)
The field of Enterprise Architecture (EA) emerged as an answer to the increasing complexity in managing and aligning the business-IT relationship within enterprises. Both practitioners and academics have expressed interest in the field, with a growing number of publicized works related to EA. In an attempt to provide an outlook of the current research landscape of EA, a systematic literature review was conducted. Citation data from the Scopus (Elsevier) API were automatically extracted and analyzed. By applying the Louvain method on the collected data, 8 research communities and their topic were identified: (1) Enterprise Engineering (I & II), (2) Enterprise Architecture Management, (3) Enterprise Modelling, (4) IT Architecture, (5) Enterprise Integration, (6) Digital Transformation, and (7) Smart Cities. For each community, a summarized description with sub-community graphs as well as tables (describing the top authors, articles, and affiliation countries) are presented. Lastly, a comparison of the results and the EA trends identified by Gampfer et al. are presented.

The Integration of Local Actors in Policy Implementation: The Case of Organic Farming in Costa Rica

Gruber, Mirjam 20 October 2023 (has links)
Like other countries of the world, Costa Rica faced the challenge of dealing with a variety of trade-offs when implementing sustainability goals in agriculture. Very often, economic promotion is in conflict with goals regarding human and environmental health protection. Organic farming practices could provide strategies to overcome some of these trade-offs. However, in Costa Rica, the majority of farmers still relies on conventional farm practices. In this paper, I investigate the potential for a sustainable transformation in Costa Rica’s agriculture by focusing on organic farming policies. I shed light on the role local actors and organizations play in this process compared to other actor types. I argue that local actors are “the agents of change” in these processes, as these are the target groups of organic farming policies and are the ones who are asked to change their farm practices. Based on survey data and network analysis, I was able to illustrate how differently integrated local actors are compared to other actor types in Costa Rica’s implementation of organic farming policies. Local actors show interest and willingness to further participate in land-use implementation processes when institutional barriers are alleviated, and further promotion instruments are available.
