Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar las diversas variables relacionadas con la intención a la adopción de las plataformas online de farmacias, para dicho objetivo se trabajó bajo el modelo de la Teoría Unificada de la Aceptación y Uso de la Tecnología (UTAUT, por sus siglas en inglés). Para probar las hipótesis planteadas se propone realizar un estudio cuantitativo con una muestra de cuatrocientas personas las cuales ayudarán a obtener el grado de significancia entre las variables de calidad percibida, precio, social influence, expectativa de esfuerzo y de rendimiento con relación a la intención a la adopción de la plataformas online de farmacias. A su vez, para el estudio se consideró incluir las dimensiones de la variable de calidad percibida: calidad de la información, calidad del sistema y calidad del servicio las cuales ayudarán a profundizar la relación de la misma. Dicha investigación presenta limitaciones geográficas en cuanto al número de la muestra planteada. Esta investigación busca servir de apoyo a futuros estudios para conocerla intención de adopción de las personas hacia las plataformas online de farmacias. / This research has to analyze the differents constructs to the intention to adopt on e-pharmacy platforms, for this objective we worked under the unified theory of acceptance and use of the technology (UTAUT) model. To test those hypotheses, it is proposed to realize a quantitative study with a four hundred sample people who help to obtain the degree of significance between the constructs of perceived quality, price, social influence, effort and performance expectancy in relation to the intention to adopt online pharmacy platforms. At the same time, for this study to be considered include the perceived quality dimensions: quality information, quality system and quality service which will help to deepen the relationship of the same. This study presents geographic limitations in relation to the number of the sample proposed. This research seeks to support future studies of the intention to adopt of people towards online pharmacy platforms. / Trabajo de investigación

Factores que influyen en la intención de compra de smartphones en adultos jóvenes / Factors influencing the purchase intention of smartphones in young adults

Los smartphones se han convertido en una parte integral en la vida de las personas, encontrándose en constante evolución y actualización como efecto de las necesidades y preferencias cambiantes de los consumidores. Por tal motivo, el presente estudio busca identificar cuáles son los factores que influyen en la intención de compra de smartphones en adultos jóvenes. Para ello, se aplicó el método de investigación cuantitativo para probar hipótesis, basándose en un análisis estadístico, junto con un enfoque explicativo. La elección de la muestra es no probabilística por conveniencia, teniendo un tamaño de 452 personas. Así mismo, la técnica de recolección de datos utilizada fue el cuestionario, también denominado encuesta. Esta investigación empleó el análisis de regresión lineal múltiple y recopiló datos válidos de 361 encuestados (adultos jóvenes que cumplan con el perfil). Los resultados del análisis mostraron que la marca, características del producto, necesidades sociales y el precio son los factores que guardan relación significativa con la intención de compra de smartphones, mientras que la conveniencia e influencia social no influyen en la misma. En tal sentido, este estudio analiza cada variable relacionada con la intención de compra de smartphones proponiendo un modelo, el cual incorpora nuevos factores en base a lo estudiado, permitiendo conocer su relación con la intención de compra. Así mismo, estos resultados aportan a que las empresas entiendan y conozcan al consumidor al que se dirigen, pudiendo ofrecerle el producto que están buscando. / Smartphones have become an integral part of people's lives, are constantly evolving and updating as a result of the changing needs and preferences of consumers. Therefore, the present study seeks to recognize which are the factors that influence the purchase intention of smartphones in young adults. For this purpose, the quantitative research method was applied to test hypotheses, based on the statistical analysis, along with an explanatory approach. The sample is non-probabilistic for convenience, having a size of 452 people. Likewise, the data collection technique used was a questionnaire, also denominated survey. This investigation used a multiple linear regression analysis and collected valid data from 361 respondents (young adults who meet the profile). The results of the analysis showed that the brand, product characteristics, social needs and the price are the factors that are significantly related to the intention to buy smartphones, while convenience and social influence have no impact on it. In this sense, the study examines each variable relating to the purchase intention of smartphones, proposing a model, which incorporates new factors founded on what has been studied, allowing to notice its relation to the purchase intention. Furthermore, these outcomes contribute to enterprises comprehend and get to know their target consumers, being able to offer them the product they are looking for. / Tesis / PE

Hederskultur är ett komplext och djupt rotat fenomen som påverkar individer på många olika sätt. Denna socialpsykologiska studie använde sig av teorier om Ackulturation, Social påverkan, Sociala normer, Maktstrukturer och Social inlärning för att förstå hurhederskultur påverkar identitetsskapande hos kvinnor. Syftet med studien var att utforska kvinnors identitetsskapande i samband med hederskultur och förtryck mellan två sociokulturella världar. För att skapa en djupare förståelse för fenomenet användes en socialpsykologisk ansats. Genom användning av kvalitativ metod och tematisk analys kunde denna studie fånga de komplexa och djupt rotade upplevelserna av hederskultur och dess påverkan på individens identitet. Urvalet var sex kvinnor som intervjuades och gav upphov till en empiri som sedan jämfördes med en självbiografi av en kvinna med hederskultur i bagaget. De upplevde en stark press från den kulturella krocken, vilket skapade rädsla och begränsningar. Resultaten ger viktig information som kan användas för att skapa en bättre förståelse för hederskultur och dess effekter på individerna, samt för att utveckla effektiva åtgärder och stödstrukturer för personer som befinner sig i liknande situationer. / Honor culture is a complex and deeply-rooted phenomenon that affects individuals in various ways. This social psychological study utilized theories of acculturation, social influence, social norms, power structures, and social learning to understand how honor culture affects identity formation in women. The aim of the study was to explore women's identity formation in the context of honor culture and oppression between two sociocultural worlds. A social psychological approach was used to gain a deeper understanding of the phenomenon. Through the use of qualitative methods and thematic analysis, this study captured the complex and deeply-rooted experiences of honorculture and its impact on individual identity. The sample consisted of six women who were interviewed, and their experiences were compared with a self-biography of a woman with a background in honor culture. The results showed that all six respondents in the study shared similar feelings and experiences related to honor culture and Swedish culture. The results provide important information that can be used to create a better understanding of honor culture and its effects on individuals, as well as to develop effective interventions and support structures for individuals in similar situations.

This thesis examines the discursive arguments made by activist and advocacy organizations that are active supporters or opponents of immigration in the United States. This project especially considers the role of new media as a way for different organizations to distribute their perspectives, construct knowledge, and organize support around their stances on immigration. While old media such as television, radio, and print continue to be important in framing the issue of immigration, new media such as websites and social networking, as well as media technology such as text messaging, are starting to reorganize and expand the spaces in which these controversial debates take place. In recognition of the complexity and divisiveness of the immigration debate, this thesis takes into account a diverse group of organizations that focus on different aspects of immigration including the role of temporary migrant workers, undocumented immigrants, and legal immigrants. In the post 9/11 era controversy over immigration has been renewed and heightened. Immigrants and migrants moving from the Global South have especially been targeted by pervasive anti-immigrant rhetoric dispersed by the media, politicians, and civil society groups. This thesis analyzes how culture, the economy, and citizenship, as well as race and racism are framed by both immigration critics and advocates as a means of impacting legislation, swaying public opinion, and in constructing a vision for the future of immigration and immigrants in the United States.

The Effect of Political Advertising on Perceived Bias and Credibility of Online News Stories

This study was an investigation of the effect of political advertising on readers’ perceived bias and credibility of an online news article based on participants’ political leanings. Media priming and the hostile media effect were the theoretical underpinnings. Participants were asked to read an unbiased news article placed alongside 3 advertisements. Participants were put into 1 of 3 conditions — right-leaning advertisements, left-leaning advertisements, or neutral advertisements. They then answered questions about the perceived bias and credibility of the article and their own political affiliation. The researchers hypothesized that left-leaning individuals would perceive the article with right-leaning advertisements as biased and less credible and the opposite would be true of right-leaning individuals. Results were not consistent with hypotheses but trended in the expected directions.

Alternative vs. Traditional News: A Content Analysis of News Coverage of the 10th Anniversary of Sept. 11

The researcher sought to understand the differences in framing used by alternative media outlets and traditional or mainstream media outlets. A sampling of articles about the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks was used from alternative and traditional media publications to conduct this study. These articles were analyzed by a software program to determine themes and concepts within both data sets. The analysis revealed traditional media was less varied in themes than was alternative media, with the latter clearly showing an effort to be. Traditional media was found to provide routine coverage of commemorative services and very little critical analysis. Further highlighting the differences in the 2 media paradigms was the use of profanity in alternative media, which was discovered by using the "find" function available with word processing software.

This thesis is a work that focuses on how significant the press was to the success and failure of President Lyndon Baines Johnson. In the thesis, three aspects of the Johnson years are analyzed. The first chapter discusses the media's portrayal of Lyndon Johnson during the presidential campaign of 1964. The second chapter is an analysis of how the press reported on President Johnson concerning the issue of civil rights. The third chapter dissects the media's perception of Lyndon Johnson during the Vietnam conflict. The primary research used in the thesis is a culmination of polls, editorials, personal letters, and memos from the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library. Through use of these sources and a number of secondary materials, one is able to witness the period in which the popularity of the Johnson Administration began to experience a downturn.

The specters of violence and economic insecurity have haunted the Sudan since its independence in 1956. The United States Congress has held numerous hearings on the Sudan's civil war and U.S. television news outlets have reported on the conflict since 1983. While attempting to engage the Sudan in a viable peace process, the U.S. Congress has been beset by ineffectual Cold War paradigms and an inability to understand the complexities of the Sudan civil war. U.S. television news programs, on the other hand, engaged in a process of oversimplification, using false dichotomies to reduce the conflict into easily digestible pieces. This thesis will analyze the overall tone and focus of U.S. Congressional hearings and television news broadcasts on the Sudan and demonstrate the problematic factors in their portrayals of the war.

War on the Media: The News Framing of the Iraqi War in the United States, Europe, and Latin America.

This study analyzes the framing of the war in Iraq (2003) during the week before and the week after the conflict started according to the media coverage of nine leading newspapers from United States, Europe, and Latin America. Through quantitative content analysis, the researcher answered seven research questions and analyzed the framing, sources, and approaches used by the newspapers in the news coverage of the conflict. The researcher compared the news coverage of each region and found that there were significant differences in the content of the war reporting according to the geographical area of the media. European and Latin American newspapers framed a "bigger and more balanced picture" in covering more sides of the war and quoting diverse sources while American media covered a narrower range of war perspectives and quoted coalition sources in almost all of their news stories and editorials.

Marxist analysis of social and economic narratives in childrens' cartoons

Using a Marxist framework with a grounding in critical literacy, this study employs a content analysis methodology to analyze 25 episodes of five of the most popular children’s television cartoons in order to understand how these cartoons portray economic and social systems, as well as how the messages these cartoons express would tend to support these systems. In so doing, this research hopes to provide a conceptual framework that educators and parents can use as a guide for demonstration of a critical approach to understanding the curriculum of children’s media inside or outside of the classroom. Educators can modify this framework to suit the age of the children that they are working with or to better align with the characteristics of the text their students are consuming. While this research may be used as a guide by educators, it is also a comprehensive Marxist analysis of some of the most popular cartoons targeted to pre-school aged children. Analysis of the data indicates these cartoons support a capitalist ideology through the expression of a particular worldview and associated values, which include normalizing authoritarian relationships, promoting consumerism and entrepreneurship, supporting beliefs about work that employers would value, and other views that tend to be valued in a capitalist system.
