Diploma thesis deals with the psychological care and psychological guidance and their potentialities and availability for people or their close ones, who need help in period of diseases or disease effects. There is only psychiatrist-consultation care of psychic condition of patients in most of medical centres, but all diseases affect the psychic condition, even for patient´s close ones. Good psychic condition linked up with changed social condition is very important for successful cure. If the patients have low stress tolerance there is a risk, that every disease causes the hard life situation. Psychological care and cooperation with the doctor, medical staff, rehabilitation and social workers also as the communication competence can highly increase the quality of life of patients and their relatives.

Problémy sebepojetí mladého dospělého člověka v české společnosti a pomoc sociálního pracovníka při jejich řešení / The issues of a young adult individual?s self-concept within the Czech society and a social worker?s support with dealing with them

The thesis deals with the problems of a young adult human being's self-concept from the psychological point of view. The influence of the social elements on the start in an adult life can be observed through individualism, consumerism and quality of life, which all affect the two most important parts of life ? the work and human relations. The main part of the thesis focuses on the self-concept issues of a young adult in correlation to the (dis)satisfaction in the social roles as all the roles include various expectations. The dissatisfaction can be caused by preferring the ideal "myself" which is not in accordance with the actual requirements of the social environment. This can have a negative impact on the self-concept and individual's functioning within the community and society. The individual turns his attention to the social worker when having self-concept problems that might result in mental difficulties. The theoretical starting points are applied to some particular areas of the social work (social work with the young adults, social work with families, marital and family consultancy).

Metodologia – A abordagem metodológica foi qualitativa e os dados foram coletados por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, grupos focais e survey. Os dados obtidos nos grupos focais foram tratados por meio de análise de conteúdo, de acordo com as categorias propostas no referencial teórico adotado, e serviram de subsídio para a elaboração de um questionário distribuído a todas as profissionais do quadro de aviação e de intendência em atividade, que permitiu ratificar e ampliar os resultados da pesquisa. O questionário possibilitou a compreensão das principais diferenças e semelhanças entre os fatores identificados nos grupos focais e como eles influenciam os processos de escolha, pelas mulheres, entre o curso de formação de oficiais intendentes e o curso de formação de oficiais aviadores. Resultados – Como resultado da pesquisa foi possível identificar que as mulheres, independente da especialidade escolhida, buscam uma carreira que lhes permita conciliar suas necessidades profissionais e pessoais, já que, culturalmente, o peso maior dos trabalhos domésticos e da criação dos filhos ainda recai sobre elas no país, mesmo com o avanço de suas responsabilidades no campo profissional. Nesse sentido, considerando que a carreira de oficial intendente permite conciliar melhor esses aspectos, as mulheres tendem a optar pela mesma, ainda que seja necessário abdicar, com essa escolha, de melhores condições de trabalho e de outras vantagens advindas da carreira de aviador, vantagens essas não visualizadas no momento da realização do processo seletivo. As questões culturais que determinam a prevalência feminina em atividades de suporte e apoio, como as de intendência, também ficaram evidenciadas a partir da confirmação dos estereótipos de gênero, bem como a influência da família na tomada de decisão. Contribuições práticas – O estudo permitiu conhecer, na visão das mulheres, as particularidades da carreira de aviação e de intendência que afetam diretamente nessa escolha, sendo um instrumento valioso no dimensionamento de expectativas reais de participação feminina em outros quadros com características semelhantes (quadro de apoio ou operacional) para o Exército e a Marinha, que ainda estão em fase de adaptação de suas escolas de formação e de adequação de seus cursos para o recebimento das mulheres. Além disso, o entendimento das principais dificuldades enfrentadas em ambos os quadros auxiliou na detecção de deficiências na gestão administrativa e de recursos humanos da Força Aérea, possibilitando a revisão e otimização das práticas institucionais e a adequação dos cursos de formação da AFA. A partir da compreensão dos fatores que influenciam a opção feminina pelos cursos pesquisados, será possível identificar segmentos sociais com aspirações semelhantes, potencializando o uso de propagandas e recursos motivacionais para captar mulheres para o quadro de aviadores, a fim de se beneficiar das vantagens advindas de ambientes mistos de trabalho. Contribuições sociais – O estudo poderá ser utilizado para enriquecer entendimentos a respeito das motivaçõesdas mulheres em integrar organizações conservadoras, bem como dos principais desafios enfrentados em situações semelhantes. Também poderá contribuir para os estudos de gênero e de gestão de recursos humanos, os quais apresentam uma frequência de atualização e pesquisa relativamente baixa se comparada a outras áreas e aspectos organizacionais investigados, principalmente nas instituições públicas. Originalidade – A abordagem das escolhas profissionais por carreiras militares de combate pelas mulheres representa um marco na literatura sobre o tema, já que a Força Aérea Brasileira é a única, dentre as três forças, a aceitá-las em seu principal quadro de carreira, vinculado diretamente à atividade-fim da instituição: a aviação. Além disso, a pesquisa aborda a questão de gênero não pelas conquistas alcançadas pelo sexo feminino nas Forças Armadas, e sim pelo interesse das mesmas nas vitórias obtidas. / Purpose – The overall objective is to understand the reasons that influence the prevalence of the female option for the training course of stewardship officers(support boardmanagers) concerning the training course of official aviators (pilots) of the Air Force Academy. Design/Methodology –The methodological approach is qualitative with bibliographic and documentary research, focal groups and survey data compilation. Content analysis according to the categories offered by the theoretical background was used to treat the focal groups data, which supported an application distributed to all active fliers and stewardship, allowing search results to be ratified and extended. The questionnaire answers pointed out the main differences and similarities between the identified factors in the focus groups and how they influence women's choice processes between the training course of intendant officers and the training course of official pilots. Findings – As a result of the research, it was possible to acknowledge that women seek a career that allows them to adjust their professional and personal needs, despite the chosen occupation. Culturally in this country, the burden of domestic work and child rearing still falls on women, even with the elevation of their competencies in the professional field. In this sense, women tend to opt for the official stewardship career. Although this job enables to settle these aspects, this choice entails abdicating better working conditions and other pilot career advantages, that at the time of selection process are not envisioned. Also, the acknowledgment of gender stereotypes, as well as the influence of the family in decision making highlighted the cultural issues that restrict female prevalence in support work. Practical implications – From the women perspective, the study enabled to know the particularities of the piloting career and stewardship that directly affect their choice. Signifying a valuable instrument in the dimensioning of realistic expectations of female participation in other cadres with similar characteristics or (support or operational board) for the Army and Navy, which are still in the process of adapting their training schools and adjusting their courses for the reception of women. The understanding of the main difficulties faced by both staff helped the detection of deficiencies in the Air Force administrative and human resources management. It made possible to update and optimize institutional practices and AFA training courses adequateness. Based on the understanding of the circumstances that influence female option for the training course of stewardship officers, the armed forces may identify social segments with similar interests. Therefore, advertisement and motivational resources may be used to bring in women to the pilot's boardin order to benefit from mixed work environments. Social implications –The study could be used to enhance understandings about women's motives in comprise traditional organizations as well as the key challenges encountered in similar situations. It can also contribute to gender studies and human resources management, which show a relatively low refresh rate and research compared to other domains and organizational aspects investigated, especially in public institutions Originality – The approach of women's professional choice for military combat careers is a milestone in the case literature, whereas amidst the three forces Brazilian Air Force is the only one to allow women in its main occupation connected to the organization core activity: piloting. The research does not address gender issues based on women's achievements in the Armed Forces, on the contrary, it communicates their victories' interest.

Esta dissertação de mestrado tem por objetivo apresentar a formação dos educadores surdos que atuam em programas de acessibilidade cultural em três museus da cidade de São Paulo: Pinacoteca do Estado, Museu de Arte Moderna e Museu Afro Brasil. Para isso, apresento seu perfil profissional, como também os programas de acessibilidade e instituições culturais nos quais eles atuam. Exponho as propostas educativas em Libras (Língua Brasileira de Sinais) que são realizadas no atendimento da comunidade surda nesses ambientes culturais, bem como defendo a presença de uma proposta bilíngue e bicultural que seja norteadora na formação e atuação de tais educadores. Nesse sentido, proponho um olhar baseado na visão socioantropológica da surdez, que vê o ser surdo como uma pessoa que possui cultura e identidade cultural própria, devendo, portanto, ser incluído na sociedade por essa diferença linguística. / The purpose of this master\'s thesis is to present the professional training of deaf educators who work in cultural accessibility programs in three museums in São Paulo city: Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, Museu de Arte Moderna and Museu Afro Brasil. For this, I present the educators\' professional profile, as well as the accessibility programs and cultural institutions where they work. In addition, I present the educational proposals in Brazilian Sign Language - \"Libras\" that are performed with deaf community in these cultural institutions, and I also advocate for the use of a bilingual and bicultural proposal to guide the professional training and practice of these educators. In this sense, I propose looking at deafness by a social and anthropological point of view that sees deaf people like someone who has his/her own culture and cultural identity, and that should be included in society by means of this linguistic difference.

Esse é um programa de rádio, exibido de segunda a sexta, pela rádio CBN e tem como foco discutir futebol. O programa tem o formato de uma mesa redonda, com um apresentador/mediador e três apresentadores/comentaristas. Embora o foco do programa seja futebol, muitas vezes, surgem provocações humorísticas, que podem atacar tanto aspectos da vida pessoal quanto profissional dos participantes. A literatura estudada aponta que sempre houve dificuldades em definir humor e, que, por isso, a primeira Teoria do Humor só surgiu em 1985 (RASKIN, 1985). Mais recentemente, alguns autores (NORRICK (1993); HOLMES (2000)) têm buscado definir o humor em situaçãoes reais de interação, considerando, principalmente, a forma como o alvo reage aos supostos enunciados humorísticos. Attardo (1994) defende que a provocação é um tipo de humor que traz em si um elemento de “crítica” e se realiza com a presença do alvo da crítica na interação. Assim, por ter se mostrado recorrente em nossos dados, o nosso foco de análise serão as provocações. Deste modo, adotando uma perspectiva relacional em estudos do discuro e uma abordagem interpretativista em análise de dados, buscamos verificar: os papéis que caracterizam/constituem o tipo de atividade analisada (Quatro em Campo); a relação entre humor e trabalho de face; e como as provocações emergem e são negociadas no discurso. A análise desses dados mostra que, nesse contexto, as provocações emergem, principalmente, quando um comentário esportivo gera algum tipo de desacordo/dissenso entre os participantes. Com essas provocações, busca-se uma mudança do enquadre que está sendo dado ao tópico em curso. Entretanto, essa mudança depende da forma como os alvos das provocações as recebem. Notou-se que há uma relação entre a forma como os participantes reagem às provocações e o papel que eles assumem, por exemplo, se o de comentarista esportivo ou de torcedor. De forma geral, o uso do humor se mostrou ambivalente, produzindo, ao mesmo tempo, afastamento e aproximação entre os interactantes. / In this paper, we investigate the relationship between humor, im/politeness, facework and roles in episodes of the program “Quatro em Campo”. It`s a radio program, aired from Monday to Friday by CBN radio and it focuses discussions about soccer. The program is shaped as a round table, with a presenter/facilitator and three presenters/commentators. Although the program`s focuses, as it`s said, is soccer, many times, emerge humorous provocations. The literature has sowed that there have always been difficulties in defining humor and so the first Theory of Humor was built only in 1985 (RASKIN, 1985). More recently, some authors (NORRICK (1993); HOLMES (2000)) has been sought to define humor in real situations of interaction. Attardo (1994) argues that provocation is a type of humour which brings in it a critical element and it is done in the target`s of criticism presence. So, considering the fact that provocations have showed be recurring in our data, our anlysis focus will be provocations. Thus, adopting a relational perspective in the discourse studies and a interpretative approach to data analysis, we seek to ascertain: the roles which characterize/ constitute the type of activity analyzed (Quatro em Campo); the relationship between humor and facework; and how the provocations emerge and how they are managed in the discourse. The analysis of data shows that, in this context, the provocations emerge, mainly, when a sporting commentary generates some kind of disagreement or dissent among the participants. With these provocations, the participants seek a change in the frame wich has being given to the current topic. However, this change depends on how the provocations` target receive them. It`s been noted that there is a relation between the way how participants react to provocations and the role they assume, for example, if it is the commentator role or the fan role. Moreover, in a general way, the use of humor has showed to be ambivalent, producing, at the same time, separation and connection among interactants.

Bounded justice: gender, space and the law in early twentieth century Vancouver

This thesis represents a selective consideration of the relationships between gender, space and the law in early twentieth century Vancouver, based largely on the cases of sexual violence against women heard before the B.C. Supreme Court in the years between 1915 and 1925. Within these parameters, constructions of space and gender are addressed at three levels. Part one considers how both women and men were situated within early twentieth century legal discourse in the context of trials for sexual violence. Part two suggests how gendered understandings of urban space in early urban Vancouver were produced and reinforced within, and beyond, legal discourse. Finally, part three situates these processes within a wider context of statemaking in early twentieth century British Columbia. It is argued that legal processes were one mechanism by which space in fledgling Vancouver was coded in gendered and sexualized terms, and further, that these social meanings of space were fundamentally bound up with prevailing conceptions of race and class. / Arts, Faculty of / Geography, Department of / Graduate

This paper examines if the wedding rite today can be considered as a rite of consumption rather than a rite of passage, with base in the wedding gown. The method used is a qualitative text and content analysis, this method has been applied to three articles and one book whom discuss the wedding and consumption related to the bride gown. To analyze this material Arnold Van Gennep´s definition of rites of passage is applied. Weddings are in our time strongly influenced by consumption with a strong focus on materiality rather than on religion. The wedding gown can be considered to be one of the most important artefacts today concerning the bride adapting to her new identity and social role.

Breaking the Bank : A study of career barriers among women in the commercial banking sector.

Background - Women are underrepresented in top management positions all over the globe. This also applies to Sweden, despite the country's long progressive and high material prosperity. This situation is particularly evident in the banking sector, where women represent approximately half of the workforce. However, in the four largest banks in Sweden, women only occupy 33,25 percent in the highest management teams and 34,5 percent on the boards. This phenomenon is often referred to as “the glass ceiling,” a set of barriers that hinder women’s accessibility to top management positions. This underrepresentation is, in turn, likely to result in a loss of potential human resources due to organizations not searching for competent candidates in approximately half of the population. Further, banks are associated with a lot of power in the society, where they have a significant impact, with a critical role in the economy, contributing to financial growth. Initiatives by for instance the EU Commission to increase gender diversity are on the high agenda. Consequently, the subject of understanding and overcoming these barriers stands high on the agenda of both politicians and researchers. Purpose - The purpose of this study is to identify barriers among women toward reaching top management positions in the commercial banking sector, as well as how women in top management positions have overcome them. By investigating the barriers and how women overcome them, we will contribute with a deeper understanding and meaningful insights to political and managerial practitioners on how they can identify and help women overcome the barriers. The foundation of the theoretical framework in this study will be based on Becker’s (1957) theory of discrimination, Social role theory, and System justification theory will lay the foundation of the theoretical framework in this study. Method - This study is based on qualitative research with a multiple case study in the banking sector in Sweden. Conclusion - We conclude that the most common barriers are based on stereotypical beliefs, the balance between private life and work, biases and discrimination, and organizational culture and structure. How to overcome these barriers is built on supporting organizations, an equal private life situation, and specifically identified personality traits.

El siguiente trabajo presenta un análisis de la narración y estética del rol de los personajes femeninos en la saga de películas de Los Juegos del Hambre. Para conocer la percepción sobre las mujeres que existen en esta franquicia, sus características y cómo es que la narrativa y la estética ayudan a conocer a estos personajes. La información se analizó a través del método cualitativo y el paradigma interpretativo, para lo cual se consideró tres perfiles de muestra: fanáticas del club de fan, público consumidor de largometrajes de ficción y expertos audiovisuales. Asimismo, se realizaron fichas de análisis de las escenas de las cuatro mujeres elegidas para esta investigación las cuales son Katniss Everdeen, Johanna Mason, Effie Trinket y Primrose Everdeen. De esta manera se pretende demostrar que el rol de la mujer se está alejando de los estereotipos y marcando una nueva era para los personajes femeninos en el cine actual de Hollywood. / This paper presents an analysis of the story telling and aesthetics of the role of female characters in the film series The Hunger Games. To know the perception about women that exist in this franchise, their characteristics and how the narrative and the aesthetics help to know these characters. The information was analysed through the qualitative method and the interpretive paradigm, for which three sample profiles were considered: female four women chosen for this investigation, which are Katniss Everdeen, Johanna Mason, Effie Trinket and Primrose Everdeen. In this manner, it is aimed to show that the role of women is moving away from stereotypes and marking a new era for female characters in prevailing Hollywood’s cinema. / Tesis
