Life-long learning for knowledge societies becomes fundamental for educational process. Motivation, expectations and contentment of people take a very important place in today’s learning. The most important objectives of today’s educational process are providing answers to current challenges and essential questions as well as helping to seize new opportunities for society and individuals. The objective of this research is to explore the motivation, motives and problems of life-long learning of residents in Visaginas town. The tasks of the research are following: • to explore residents’point of view towards life-long learning; • define the motives of adults which force them to start studying again; • analyze what conditions residents of Visaginas have; • define issues which impede more active involvement of adults into life-long learning; • provide with recommendations on how to nurture residents’point of view on life-long learning. The analysis was done in November, 2005 and took place in Visaginas National Language Center, in “Draugystes” secondary school (adult classes) as well as in other public institutions. During this research the residents of Visaginas town were asked to answer a question on how they perceive and value life-long learning and what is their point of view towards it. While integrating to socio cultural environment such person’s features like ability to watch, analyze, interpret and estimate the qualities of motion, language (intonation), sound and view. This trains communication culture in various social situations. The improvement of body movements opens the opportunity to experience the joy which comes from educated, strong, healthy organism, it creates preconditions of person’s self expression and self realization. However in various spheres of life and work it is often being hidden behind the stream of words, not emphasizing the plastic opportunities of person’s body. In the activity of sports body movements can be described by cultural point of view, the not verbal motion of the body is modernized which has some aesthetic value. Improving human’s body movements will get socio cultural quality which could be expressed by the unity of peculiarities using them as the means of self expression in the socio cultural activity. That is why movement culture and their plastic (aesthetic) expression is one of the person’s problems of the cultural upbringing. The objective of the research is to perform evaluation on the state of adult education organized in Panevėžys District Municipality. In order to realize the objective and tasks set in the work, the following methods were applied: 1. Analysis of scientific literature and documents. 2. Structurized interview. 3. Questionnaire survey. 4. Processing of data while using SPSS 12.0 for Windows software. Learning of adults is an active process, occurring in a certain type of environment, which is planned and regulated and involves reflection; while seeking to acquire new knowledge, the environment is consciously subjected to experiments and the result of this process encompasses new knowledge and application of the acquired knowledge.

Besiplečiant kompiuterinės įrangos galimybėms auga ir kvalifikuotų darbuotojų paklausa bei reikalavimai darbuotojams visame pasaulyje. Retas darbuotojas šiuo metu gali dirbti be kompiuterio ar kompiuterinės technikos taikymo savo darbe. Atsiranda naujos programos taikytinos konkrečiose darbo srityse, lengvinančios darbą bei gerinančios jo kokybę. Norint išlikti konkurencingu darbo rinkoje tenka prisitaikyti prie jos reikalavimų, pastoviai tobulinti turimas žinias bei gebėjimus ir įgyti naujų. Rašant šį darbą buvo apžvelgta suaugusiųjų kompiuterinio raštingumo situacija Lietuvoje ir pasaulyje. Aiškintasi politinis požiūris į kompiuterinių gebėjimų ugdymą, finansavimo šaltinius. Atliktas anketinis tyrimas, kuriame apklausta daugiau nei 500 Vilniaus pedagoginio universiteto darbuotojų. Atliekant tyrimą aiškintasi, kompiuterinių gebėjimų lygmuo priklausomai nuo amžiaus ir pareigų. Aiškintasi ar nuo amžiaus priklauso pageidaujamo mokymosi būdo pasirinkimas, taip pat kiek amžius turi 5takos norui tobulėti informacinių technologijų srityje. Tyrime siekta atsekti priklausomybę norimų mokytis dalykų nuo respondentų pareigų. Į visus šios klausimus atsakymus padėjo surasti atliktas apklausos rezultatų tyrimas. / Nowadays the demand for qualified workers as well as the requirements for workers is increasing all around the world due to the development of opportunities of the new computer technologies. Just a few members of our society can work without computer or any computer device. The new software that can be used in a particular working sphere appears. This new software makes the work easier and quality of work much better. In order to survive in the competitive labour market, each organization should adjust itself to the requirements of the market, constantly deepen acquired knowledge and abilities and learn new ones. Computer literacy in Lithuania and in the world was reviewed in this thesis. The theme was being analyzed taking into account political and financial sources. The research by the means of questionnaire was performed. More than 500 Vilnius Pedagogical University workers took part in it. The aim of this questionnaire was to make a connection between age and position of the reporters and their computer literacy abilities. The question of the choice of particular learning method in accordance with the age was risen up as well as the influence of the age on desires to improve knowledge in the sphere of modern technologies. The connection between the desirable aspects of study and the holding position is showed in this research. All the answers to these questions were found during the research.

Recent demographic changes in Europe (ageing, migration and others) demonstrate the importance of senior adult education – an urgent issue at both national and the European Union policy levels. Extended retirement age in the Member States of the EU is a big challenge in the process of employment of elderly people. Lifelong language learning (LLL) is equally important for both active, working-age citizens and for senior citizens of retirement age. The problem of the research is grounded in the challenges that many European societies currently face: the retirement age being extended, employees need to adapt to the changed working conditions and satisfy urgent demands of the market. One of the basic needs is to acquire or maintain multilingual skills, without which their status in the competitive market would become complicated. Thus, the main aim of this research is to examine current issues of adult education in Europe and Lithuania, focusing on senior citizens’ foreign language acquisition. Nowadays more emphasis is made on providing learning possibilities. Every person is an equal member of society irrespective of where he/she lives or what he/she is doing. At present the re-socialisation and probation work done by the penitentiary institutions is exceptionally important. The study of this comparatively new sphere confirms that the issue of teaching/learning of women serving sentence has been hardly analysed. The study is urgent in the sense that the people have to be stimulated to seek knowledge, conditions for learning have to be created and supported irrespective where such people live at given time. It is necessary to induce women serving sentence to make best use of the learning possibilities so that they could successfully use such knowledge when they are released. The reason I chose this theme was that it had not been considered especially as far as women in penitentiary institutions were concerned. It was interesting for me to study the need of the sentenced women for learning and take a closer look at the possibilities provided at the penitentiary institution.

The issues on adults‘ motivation discussed in scientific discource are not prolific. They and related problems have been studied by Viliūnas (1990), Boshier (1971), Hatter (1990), Entwistle (1998), Taylor (1982). However, there is a lack of research of adults‘ motivation for learning foreign languages in an informal educational organization. Gyvename tokiu laikotarpiu, kai vis sunkiau darosi suspėti žengti koja kojon su besiplėtojančiu mokslu, technika, ekonomika. Pertvarkant švietimo įstatymą vis daugiau dėmesio skiriama suaugusiųjų kvalifikacijos įgijimui bei jos tobulinimui. Dabar visi švietimo įstaigų darbuotojai tik ir kalba apie mokyklų tobulinimą ir jų kaitą. O kaip to pasiekti, jei ten dirbs nekompetentingi, nekvalifikuoti, nesitobulinantys pedagogai. Poreikį nuolat mokytis jau reikia pradėti ugdyti pradinėje bendrojo lavinimo mokykloje, o pagrindinis „...švietimo kaitos ir mokyklos tobulinimo veiksnys yra mokytojai“ (Hargeaves, 1999, p. 9). Reforming the law of education more attention is paid to the attainment and development of adults’ qualification. Now all employees of educational institutions speak about development of schools and their changes.
