How can we improve our understanding of successful implementations in eHealth?

Zarzour, M. H. D. January 2015 (has links)
This research studies the interaction between eHealth and implementation success. eHealth has become an important subject of discussion and evaluation for healthcare organisations over the last decade or so, and has also been the focus of national healthcare programs and plans. Billions of pounds are being spent on implementations of eHealth. Those implementations endeavour to cut costs, while at the same time, achieving enhanced efficiency and accuracy. Hence, understanding success in eHealth has become an attractive topic for research and a requirement in healthcare practice. This research aims to understand the definitions and factors of success in implementations of eHealth. In doing so, it examined the suitability of the Delone and McLean Information Systems (D&M IS) success model to explain eHealth success. A multistage research design was adopted. The first stage was composed of a thorough Systematic Literature Review that covered the origins and development of eHealth, the different themes in the research around eHealth, the concept of Critical Success Factors in IS, and the available frameworks for IS implementations, in general, and eHealth, in specific. As for the second stage, which constituted the core of this study, it was based on an exploratory, mixed-methods approach to research where a triangulation of research methods, data collection tools, and data sources was employed. As part of this approach, two case studies were conducted. Within the case studies, 20 semi-structured interviews were carried out; the outcomes of the interviews were analysed using framework analysis. In addition, a survey took place, and feedback from the survey respondents was analysed using different quantitative statistical methods. Finally, content analysis was relied on to examine all the relevant existing documentations. This research found that information systems success models, already in existence, can facilitate the understanding of implementation success in eHealth. The D&M IS success model, in particular, was chosen and applied. The results of the qualitative and quantitative research showed that the D&M model is suitable to explain and define success in eHealth. In addition to the constructs that define success in eHealth, such achievement is attributed to a number of factors. This research found that eHealth shares a number of success factors with other IS implementation frameworks. At the same time, eHealth success factors that emerged from the case study, like; clinical engagement, the role of eHealth leadership, and clinical champions are discussed. This research led to the exploration of new factors that require a better understanding, such as; the effects of a national eHealth policy, the role of critical champions, and innovative methods of eHealth training. Links between eHealth success definitions, and success factors were investigated, as part of this study. The results of this research revealed statistically significant links between the achievement of organisational goals and user satisfaction, and ultimately, with implementation success. This work has allowed for the development of a potential eHealth specific version of the D&M model as a provisional model to be confirmed with further research. It identified success factors that affect the implementations of eHealth. Some of the factors are eHealth specific, which can also be developed into a provisional model. In addition, this work has resulted in a number of recommendations for implementers and evaluators of eHealth in practice.

The role of system administrators in information systems success

Edlund, Sara, Lövquist, Andreas January 2012 (has links)
Limited research has been conducted on how system administrators actually can affect information systems (IS) after they have been implemented; hence, this study examines how system administrators can affect IS success in an implemented IS. The study identified a system administrator´s affect on the three IS quality dimensions in the DeLone and McLean IS success model. The empirical findings was based on a single case study where the data was collected through interviews with the system administrator and the system assistants, but also through a questionnaire answered by the users of the IS. The empirical findings suggested that the system administrator can affect IS success through the IS quality dimensions both directly and indirectly. The system administrator´s affect on IS success proved to be highly dependent on the external system vendor and the structure of the internal support unit.

Study on Architecture-Oriented Finance Management ERP

Kuo, Cheng-Yih 21 January 2008 (has links)
Summary In an era of knowledge economy, it is necessary to promote the efficiency of business. However, when a corporation decides to use an enterprise resource planning (abbreviated as ERP) system, it becomes a gigantic problem to choose either developing the system by themselves or buying a suit ERP software. At present, the maturity of ERP software on the market is able to fulfill the general demand of business. But enterprises in general need to face the situation that the procedure revises when having special demands. The suit ERP software on the market, will divide the system into several main module at present, usually can include financial management, stock control, sale management, procurement management, production management, human resource management. The suit ERP software on the current market, the major problem stems from three causes. They are process-oriented, structured method, and object-oriented. We call them non architecture oriented finance management ERP model (NAOFMERPM) This research develops an architecture oriented finance management ERP model (AOFMERPM) which solves the problems generated by NAOFMERPM. To validate this expression, we use the information system success model (abbreviated as IS Success Model) three factors, information quality, system quality, service quality to prove AOFMERPM is better than NAOFMERPM .

The influence of selected non-cognitive factors in the flourishing and intention to quit studies of working students at a University in the Western Cape

Amadi, Winston Aligbaso January 2020 (has links)
Magister Commercii (Industrial Psychology) - MCom(IPS) / Working students encounter challenges and responsibilities at university and work. In attempting to study the books and chapters assigned, meet assignment deadlines, take part in extracurricular activities and function at work, working students may be overwhelmed sensing inadequate time to complete all their responsibilities. These may lead to certain negative outcomes for the working student, such as languishing, poor grades, taking longer than the expected time to complete studies or, in the worse scenario, quitting their studies. The primary aim of this study was to examine and understand the influence of non-cognitive factors (including PsyCap, time management, and grit) on flourishing and the working students’ intention to quit employing correlational and hierarchical regression analysis.

Pettersson, Emma, Karlsson, Johanna January 2018 (has links)
Software and interfaces are today a natural part of our everyday lives. Developing useful and successful interfaces is in business interest as it can lead to more satisfied customers. The problem in this report is based on user surveys conducted on an energy-presented information interface used by individuals in the real estate industry. The company that owns the software conducted a survey, indicating that the software usability needed to develop, and this was assigned to the project team to further develop. Further development is based on Delone and McLeans (2003) Information System Success Model as well as the terms information design, usability and featuritis. Based on these, the theoretical background used was the basis for the qualitative interviews and questionnaires that were presented. The theoretical background provided the basis for the interface proposals that were finally presented in the project (See Figure 6). The results of the survey showed that users and support staff had relatively different experiences of the software. The other conclusions that could be drawn about how an information interface should be designed to serve as support for the user were the following, it should follow conventional design patterns. The design should be consistent throughout the software, it should use an adapted and clear language, and either be so clear and intuitive that anyone can understand the software or offer a clear manual.

Mathisson, Sebastian, Afram, Ramin January 2016 (has links)
Introduction processes are an important part of many activities, especially in the catering industry, where new employees can quickly work independently. The catering is also one of the sectors with the highest turnover, which could be a problem. With a well thought out and improved introduction for new employees, companies can get their employees to understand the goals, visions and strategies that the company had set up. This can then lead to staff staying longer at work. The aim of this study was to identify and compare how the introduction looks for new employees in the restaurant A and B and the measures that can be done to improve the introduction using the established theories and models in information logistics. To answer the thesis research questions, have a deductive approach been used where we as investigators passed from empiricism to theory. The data collected from interviews and surveys were elections approach for the investigation. Two restaurant's introduction process for new employees was surveyed to see how they work with the introduction of new employees. The survey was conducted with those responsible for each introduction and the people who have been employed for two years or less. With the help of interviews and surveys we conducted with responsible restaurant managers and employees of the restaurant, A and B could be an overview of the current situation presented. The discussions of the results of the study have shown that responsible for the introductions have no documentation of how the process should be conducted. Introduction has therefore been able to be varied depending on how and when it is completed. An established introduction process should be introduced to each new employee should have the same opportunities to carry out their work according to the restaurant's goals, visions and strategies. The conclusions of the thesis present the shows of improvement proposals by the empirical evidence gathered has been linked with the theory, models and previous research. These improvements have created introductory plan with established processes.

Digital Acceptans : En undersökning av attityd till digitala verktyg / Digital Acceptance : A survey of attitudes towards digital tools

Levin, Gustav, Elvemo, Johan January 2021 (has links)
Today, more and more people come into contact with new digital technologies both in their profession but also privately. It is therefore more important than ever that digital tools meet the end-users’ expectations and requirements. The purpose of this research was to explore the phenomenon of digital acceptance. Therefore, models and theories for evaluation were selected to be compared against the individual's experience and acceptance of digital tools. A theoretical foundation was created by collecting and analyzing nine models for evaluation of systems and user acceptance, where three were selected. The research was conducted with the help of interviews where participants from different professional backgrounds were given the opportunity to talk about their experiences with digitalization. The material from these interviews was then analyzed and categorized into different themes with subcategories, this allowed the research to compare the results from the interviews with current research. Based on the conclusion, the research has produced a proposal with a conceptual model for what acceptance of digital tools could look like.
