Automatic conversion of PDF-based, layout-oriented typesetting data to DAISY: potentials and limitationsNikolaus, Ulrich, Dobroschke, Julia January 2009 (has links)
Only two percent of new books released in Germany are professionally edited for visually impaired people. However, more and more print publications are made available to the public in digital formats through online content delivery platforms like “libreka!”. The automatic conversion of such contents into DAISY would considerably increase the number of publications available in accessible formats. Still, most data available on “libreka!” is published as non-tagged PDF. In this paper, we examine the potential for automatic conversion of “libreka!”-based content into DAISY, while also analyzing the potentials and limitations of current conversion tools.

Ein Beitrag zur videobasierten Verkehrszustandsidentifikation: Automatische Stauerkennung anhand von Live-Kamera-Bildern des StraßenverkehrsDöge, Klaus-Peter 23 March 2005 (has links)
The presented work wants to contribute a new solution based on the analysis of stochastic signals. On the basis of the Dresden Live-Camera-System which is providing real-time information about the traffic state on 31 focal points (March 2005) one is able to use a wide range of image types under different and severe conditions. The method is based on the analysis of stochastic signals derived from the live-camra images. These signals are analyzed with cross-correlation, amplitude- and frequency filters. The resulting data enable the distinction of stable and non-stable traffic flow and the automated identification of traffic congestion. Moreover fundamental diagrams are calculated.

Expression of FLAG-tagged argonautes in Dictyostelium discoideumAbdul Rahman, Zozek January 2022 (has links)
Argonautes are conserved RNA-binding proteins that can regulate gene expression post transcriptionally through a process known as RNA interference (RNAi). This is done through the use of small RNAs, e.g. sRNAs that act as a guide for the argonautes, allowing for sequence-specific binding to the target site. This interaction has been studied in many organisms, one of which is the model organism Dictyostelium discoideum. D. discoideum is an amoeba that has been used extensively in genetic experiments due to its unique lifestyle, and ease of use. Being a eukaryotic, unicellular organism, it proves to be a great tool for the study of regulatory systems in eukaryotes, allowing us to study this argonaute-sRNA interaction in detail. By analysing which RNAs bind to the argonautes, we can better understand which genes these proteins regulate and what role RNAi has in the organisms as a whole. In this study, I investigate three of the five argonautes found in D. discoideum, namely agnA, agnC and agnE. By transforming FLAG-tagged versions of these genes into the amoeba, I successfully express two of these modified proteins in D. discoideum and verified expression by using antibodies designed specifically to recognise the FLAG-tags. This opens up the possibility for the characterisation of the argonaute proteins to better understand their role and function in the regulation of genes. / <p>The Biology Education Centre (IBG) is the responsible department. </p><p></p><p>Presentation has been made through Zoom. </p>

Effekten av unika objektmärkningar i förvaltningsskedet / The effect of unique asset codes in the facility management phaseMoberg, Andreas, Wengenroth, Denise January 2018 (has links)
Unique asset codes is a word that emerged in the development of Nya Karolinska Solna (NKS). The purpose of the thesis is to investigate what a unique asset code is and what kind of information it generates to the facility manager. Furthermore, the purpose is to investigate what a unique asset code contributes to during the facility management and, more specifically, what it contributes to the management of NKS. To investigate this, interviews were held with respondents who took part of the development of unique asset codes at New Karolinska Solna (NKS). In order to investigate the effect of the unique asset codes in the facility management phase, a respondent from Coor, the company which is responsible for the facility management at NKS, was interviewed. In addition to interviews, a comprehensive literature study was conducted on how regular asset codes are made. The NKS project resulted in 600,000 unique asset codes, of which 150,000 of these are managed by the facility management company Coor. The information about the assets was transmitted in the form of a database that enabled Coor to link the information to the Maximo facility management software and the Forge Viewer platform. Unique asset codes were defined as a tag string that distinguishes each asset from each other in a project. The tag string contains information about, for example, placement, which system it belongs to and group. The information is reported as codes in the tag string. During the course of the work it was noted that the unique asset codes resulted in quality assured facility management work at NKS.
