"Man får någonting från TV, liksom som en liten hjälp." : En kvalitativ forskningsstudie om Tv och barns lek / How is children's playing being affected by watching TV?

This study focuses on how the playing of children is being affected by watching TV, if it is being affected at all? Is TV consumption promoting or restraining the playing of children? Can children identify with a TV-character? The study was carried out at a school with children 6 to 8 years old. I have interviewed five children, two 6 year olds, one child of 7 and two children who are 8 years old. I recorded the interview so I could listen to it afterwards, and concentrate on the childrens body language during the interview. I observed children playing during the recess. I also gave questionnaires to the five children's parents. I wanted to know the parents opinion about the TV-habits of their children, but the questionnaires did not have any major effect on the study. I haved drawn on, and related my findings to older research, specially the work of the swedish media researcher Margareta Rönnberg. Children's playing is a reflection of what they have experienced and what they've seen and heard both on TV and from people around them. Identity is something you have in yourself. It's who you are and how you will react in different situations. But the identity is not the same over your lifetime. It changes when you meet with new situations and encounter other people. My major conclusion is that children's playing get inspired from what they see. Children don´t only look on children's TV-shows, they look at many adult TV-shows as well, and their playing gets inspiration from it. They mix the things they found interesting on TV with things they have been through personally. Children can identify with characters from TV and recognize themselvs in them. The identification can be based on personality or on the outer likeness in special features as hair colour etc.

Problemformulering och syfte: Allmänheten har varken en positiv eller korrekt bild utav PR-branschen, branschens image är alltså inte den bästa. Studier på hur gestaltningen utav PR-yrkesrollen ser ut i film, visar en tvetydighet. Några resultat visar att de gestaltas negativt medan en annan påvisar en positiv gestaltning. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur PR-yrkesrollen gestaltas i amerikanska TV-serier. Metod och material: En kvalitativ innehållsanalys av fyra stycken amerikanska TV-seriers gestaltning av PR-yrkesrollen. Serierna var; Mad Men, The Crazy Ones, Scandal och House of Cards. Huvudresultat: PR-yrkesrollen gestaltas som en med hög professionaliseringsgrad men vi möttes av karaktärer med varierande typer av problematik.

This paper examines the possibilities of using video games as a tool for education of virtue ethics. By comparing learning aspects in Marc Prensky’s theory Digital Game-Based Learning and Aristotelian virtue ethics, this paper tries to look for similarities in how each theory looks at learning. Prensky’s theory is about how one can use video games in education, which is why it is used here. This is done by using three major learning theories as a framework of how one learns. The theories are sociocultural learning theory, constructivist learning theory and Learning by Doing. Both virtue ethics and Digital Game Based-Learning are presented in detail, describing what they are, how they look at learning and how that view relates to the other three major theories. Once that is done, a comparison between Virtue Ethics and Digital Game-Based Learning is given to show what they have in common. The comparison looks at both theories views on learning and from there decides whether they work in conjunction with each other or not. The paper ends with a discussion of how plausible the usage of video games and Digital GameBased Learning is in a school environment, asking questions regarding issues with video games in general and Prensky’s theory.

The purpose of this essay is to study whether streaming services has made a difference in the act of viewing linear TV together with others. The methods used in the research are: a focus group performed with six people, an email-interview with an expert in TV and a general survey used to define the user groups. The results shows that streaming services has had an impact on viewing patterns and also contributed with new ones. The Swedish consumer is more likely to use streaming services everyday except for Fridays, which can be attributed to a tradition called Fredagsmys (friday cosiness), co-viewing primetime TV on Fridays. Co-viewing TV is also affected by streaming services according to our studies, but not nearly as much as the viewing behaviours. We’re using a theory called Diffusion of Innovation to explain the usage of streaming services and why it has not been adopted by everyone as their main platform for viewing media.

O objetivo deste trabalho é refletir sobre o que acontecerá com a televisão no ambiente das plataformas digitais. Cientes de que o digital trouxe a era da convergência entre mídias, nós, além de analisar a TV digital, iremos refletir sobre como o conteúdo televisivo se propaga por todas plataformas. Partimos em nossa análise de definições de televisão e de digital, e constatamos que o digital não ameaça de extinção as mídias anteriores; pelo contrário, é uma tecnologia que as potencializa. Nossa hipótese é que o mesmo acontecerá em relação à televisão: em vez de tornar a televisão obsoleta, a tecnologia digital contribuirá para que ela efetive todas as suas potencialidades. Nosso trabalho se esforça em quebrar alguns mitos que contaminam o debate sobre televisão na era digital. Defendemos a especificidade da televisão e mostramos que mesmo no ambiente digital ela vai manter e potencializar suas características. / The objective of the present study is to reflect on the future of television in the environment of digital platforms. We are aware that digital technology has brought upon us the era of media convergence. In this context we analyze digital TV and reflect on how television content is spread throughout all platforms. In our analysis we have used the definitions of television and digital as a starting point to realize that digital does not threaten the previous media; on the contrary, it\'s a technology which supports the previous ones. Our hypothesis is that television will have the same fate: instead of making television obsolete, digital technology will contribute to the development of its full potential. Our study is an effort to break the myths that the debate over television in the digital era commonly entail. We defend the specificity of television and establish that even in the digital environment it should and can retain its original characteristics.

<p>Høsten 1994 oppfordret den internasjonale sammenslutningen for fjernsynsarkiv FIAT/IFTA sine medlemsinstitusjoner om å rapportere inn planlagte fjernsyns-produksjoner om 1900-tallet. Produksjonsplanene skulle samles under headingen ” the 20th Century Project”, med tanke på mulig samarbeid og utveksling produksjonene i mellom. ideen om et slikt prosjekt ble dannet i forbindelse med FIAT/IFTAs konferanse tidligere samme år, der representanter fra enkelte fjernsynsselskap hadde lagt fram sine planer.</p><p>Allerede i april 1995 besto listen av 8 prosjekter, og flere kom til etter hvert. Store aktører som TBS, og BBC i samarbeid med WGBH, satset på omfattende dokumentarserier med internasjonale eller globale vinklinger. Enkeltstående nasjonale kringkastingsselskap la på sin side fram ideer for kortere serier som skildret landets historie gjennom hundreåret. Felles var at de ønsket å benytte arkivklipp fra film og fjernsyn som materiale for sine historiske framstillinger. Gjennom hele 1900-tallet var små øyeblikk og store hendelser blitt foreviget og reflektert gjennom fotografiapparatet, filmkamera og etter hvert også videokamera. Når status for hundreåret skulle gjøres opp, sto dette materialet som spor fra en nær fortid; kilder som både kunne danne bakgrunn for, så vel som belyse eller bevitne, de historiske beretningene som skulle fortelles. </p>

<p>In our study, we investigated how the streamed TV domain relates to existing design principles for web design. Further, we have investigated whether there are specific characteristics of the domain that the design principles do not cover. In the survey we have studied two sites which are representative of the streamed TV domain. Finally, we discuss how applicable the design principles are for the domain and the specific characteristics that would require new or further developed design principles.</p> / <p>I vår studie har vi undersökt hur domänen streamad-TV förhåller sig till befintliga designprinciper för webbdesign. Ytterligare har vi undersökt om det finns specifika egenskaper för domänen som inte omfattas av någon designprincip. I undersökningen har vi studerat två webbplatser vilka är representativa för domänen streamad-TV. Slutligen diskuterar vi hur applicerbara designprinciperna är på domänen och vilka specifika egenskaper som skulle behöva nya eller vidareutvecklade designprinciper.</p>
