Technology Implementation: Teacher Age, Experience, Self-Efficacy, and Professional Development as Related to Classroom Technology Integration

Tweed, Stephanie Renee 01 May 2013 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this quantitative study was to identify the combination of factors that pertain to the implementation of new technologies in the classroom. Specifically, the study was an analysis of the age of the teacher, years of teaching experience, quality of professional development, and teacher self-efficacy as defined by Bandura (1997) to examine the manner in which these factors relate to implementing new technologies in the classroom. Participants in this study were located in 2 different school districts in East Tennessee. All data were collected through an online survey distributed to K-5 teachers by way of email from school principals. The analysis of data was based on the responses of 124 teachers from these 2 school districts. Research revealed that teacher age, years of teaching experience, teacher gender, and the hours a teacher spent in technology professional development did not play a significant role in the self-efficacy by teachers. Findings also indicated that teacher age, years of teaching experience, teacher gender, and the hours spent in technology professional development did not play a significant role in the classroom technology use by teachers. However, the research indicated that the self-efficacy of teachers is significantly positively related to classroom technology use by teachers.

Faktorer som påverkar en framgångsrik övergång från lokalt lagrade system till molnbaserade IT-system ur tre aktörers perspektiv : En intervjustudie ur kund-, projektgrupp- och systemimplementatörsperspektiv / Factors that Influence a Successful Transition from On-Premise to Cloud-based IT System, form the Perspective of Three Actors : An Interview Study from the Customer, Project Group and System Implementer Perspectives

Skystedt, Sebastian January 2019 (has links)

Health Information Technology Implementation Strategies in Zimbabwe

Mandaza Mapesa, Nixjoen 01 January 2016 (has links)
The adoption rate of health information technology (HIT) remains low in developing countries, where healthcare institutions experience high operating costs and loss of revenue, which are related to systems and processes inefficiency. The purpose of this case study was to explore strategies leaders in Zimbabwe used to implement HIT. The conceptual framework of the study was Davis's technology acceptance model (TAM). Data were gathered through observations, review of organizational documents (i.e., policies, procedures, and guidelines), and in-depth interviews with a purposive sample of 10 healthcare leaders and end-users from hospitals in Zimbabwe who had successfully implemented HIT. Transcribed interview data were coded and analyzed for emerging themes. Implementation strategies, overcoming barriers to adoption, and user acceptance emerged as the themes most healthcare leaders associated with successful HIT projects. Several subthemes also emerged, including: (a) the importance of stakeholder involvement, (b) the importance of management buy-in, and (c) the low level of IT literacy among healthcare workers. The strategies identified in this study may provide a foundation on which healthcare leaders in developing countries can successfully adopt and implement HIT. The recommendations from this study could lead to positive social change by providing leaders with knowledge and skills to use information technology strategies to deliver better healthcare at lower costs while creating employment for local communities.

An analysis of organizational readiness at Anniston Army Depot for information technology change

Hailey, Jermaine A., Higgs, Frederick D. 12 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release; distribution is unlimited. / MBA Professional Report / The purpose of this MBA Project is to assess the change readiness of Anniston Army Depot's (ANAD) organizational climate - especially now as the Depot prepares for large-scale Logistics Management Program (LMP) information technologies (IT) change. ANAD is a highly important division of the United States Army Materiel Command (AMC) and is the Army's designated Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence (CITE) for a variety of combat vehicles, artillery equipment, bridging systems and small-caliber weapons. It provides advanced maintenance support for all of these systems, in addition to fulfilling a host of other vitally importnat Army-wide logistical functions. ANAD presently uses the Standard Depot System (SDS) to manage its complex array of admministrativr and logistical functions. However, AMC has mandated that ANAD completely replace the SDS and employ the new Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) starting in March 2009. The researchers gathered a combination of historical information, personnel observations and responses to survey questionnaires on readiness for change in order to conduct a quality analysis on ANAD structure and climate and their implications, if any, for LMP omplementation. Ultimately, people are the heart of any IT systm, regardless of its size and degree of automation. The tremendous importance of organizational personnel in the change process is often under appreciated and under addressed in the civilian sector of the military - particularly when this sector embarks on significant IT transformation initiatives. Bold IT actions inevitably have a profound effect on any organization, regardless of its size, mission, and personnel composition. This project was conducted with the sponsorship and assistance of the Anniston Army Depot.

Teaching Culture Using E-Portfoliosin a 4th-Semester University Spanish Classroom

Cetz, Ricardo Gustavo 01 March 2015 (has links) (PDF)
The World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages (ACTFL, 2014) encourage teachers to help their students use the target language to “investigate, explain, and reflect” on the relationships between cultural products, practices, and perspectives. However, while most language instructors agree that language and culture should be connected, many fail to teach culture explicitly because they are so focused on the language components of their courses. Of those who do teach culture explicitly, many either teach only about the cultural products and not the perspectives, or they teach the culture in English because of its complexity. This project explores the use of e-portfolios for explicitly teaching culture in the target language across all three communicative modes. The project was implemented in a 4th semester university Spanish course in the fall of 2013. Students were required to view and interpret culturally authentic materials such as newspapers, proverbs, documentaries, news reports, and videos about pop culture. In addition, students interacted with native speakers both within and outside the United States using technology. Students were also asked to produce business plans, commentaries, community projects, ethnographic interviews, stories, and videos in the target language. The project evaluation revealed that when culture is explicitly taught in the target language, the following changes may occur: a positive attitudinal shift towards the target culture, a desire for learning the language beyond the classroom, an increase in autonomous learning, and an improvement in linguistic skills. Pedagogical implications and principles that might be applicable in foreign language instruction include the fact that technology appears to be one promising way to provide increased access to culture. In addition, scaffolding is found to be important to both students' experiences with culture and their interaction with technology. Also students may find the exploration of current social issues and problems very motivating and engaging. This has the potential to give students increased opportunities to think critically.

Implementation of Extended Realityin Swedish Healthcare : A Study on Implementation of Technology in the Swedish Healthcare Industry / Implementering av extended realityi svensk sjukvård : En studie om implementering av teknologi inom sjukvården

Selin, Carl-Johan, Iwarsson, Hannes January 2022 (has links)
Extended reality solutions are becoming increasingly relevant for companies to implementand use commercially. One sector that have shown great potential and can benefit from implementing this type of technology is the healthcare industry. More specifically, for solutions connected to medical devices. Meanwhile, the healthcare industry has generally been particularly slow at adopting new technologies. Digitalization has been observed to progress at a slower pace than in other sectors. This study investigated why technology is progressing at slow pace and identified critical drivers and bottlenecks that affect the implementation of extended reality within healthcare. This was done through a case study on a proof concept project where the value of a mixed reality solution in the healthcare sector was investigated. This was particularly interesting as the tested solution was the first of its kind in Sweden. The results of the study revealed several barriers within the healthcare sector, including conservatism in the industry, lack of incentives, lack of absorption as well as data protection and privacy issues. Furthermore, theresults revealed that implementation of XR solutions into Swedish healthcare is in first phase. However, underlying drivers imply that there is value in further development. Especially, since the proof of concept was considered successful and showed signs of progressing to the next stage of implementation.

Reaching Higher I4.0 Maturity in Lean-Driven Manufacturing Systems : A case study on the influencing factors in the selection and implementation of I4.0 technologies / Mot en högre mognadsgrad av I4.0 i lean-drivna tillverkningssystem : En fallstudie om de påverkande faktorerna vid val och implementering av I4.0 teknologier

Sandberg, Erika, Júlíusdóttir, Guðlaug January 2022 (has links)
The new Industry 4.0 technologies have the potential to increase the operational performance of lean-driven manufacturing organizations, however, there is a lack of guidance on how to select and implement Industry 4.0 technologies which often leads to digital waste. In essence, these organizations want to preserve the value of their current lean manufacturing system, without missing out on improved operational performance potential from exploiting new I4.0 technologies. Furthermore, recent research suggests that there is a complementary effect between lean manufacturing and Industry 4.0 where higher use of both domains in a factory results in higher operational performance. However, in theory, it has not been established what influencing factors lead to the increase in operational performance when the two domains, lean manufacturing and Industry 4.0, are in high concurrent use. The purpose of this study is to identify the influencing factors in the implementation process of Industry 4.0 technologies that facilitate higher Industry 4.0 maturity within factories. In this case study, a qualitative method was used to obtain the empirical data by conducting a series of interviews with individuals working in a multi-national lean-driven manufacturing organization. From a thematic analysis, seven influencing factors were identified that contributed to higher Industry 4.0 maturity: three in the governance structure, two in the selection of Industry 4.0 technologies, and two in the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies. In the governance structure, a shared digital vision, following a roadmap, and a standardized way of working with digitalization in place facilitated a more successful implementation process. In the selection, a demand-based selection and identification of a business case around the Industry 4.0 technology increased the possibility of the technology selected reaching an implementation stage. Further, in the implementation, having local cross-functional teams and actively developing the employees' knowledge, and providing training in digitalization resulted in more successful implementations. Further, a ripple effect was seen between the influencing factors: having an effective governance structure led to more demand-based selections and thereby more successful implementations that resulted in higher Industry 4.0 maturity.
