Uppsatsen undersöker aspekter av Theodor W. Adornos konstellationsbegrepp såsom det presenteras i Negativ dialektik, för att visa dess potential som metod lämplig att adressera praktiska, politiska problem. Det kan tyckas motsäga Adornos negativa dialektik där tonvikten läggs på ett behov av kritiska förhållningssätt i filosofiska frågor, inte konstruktiva förslag, men författaren ämnar utveckla argumentationen i linje med Adornos kritiska teori. Uppsatsen går igenom bakgrunden till och aspekterna av konstellationen, där influenser från Hegel och Benjamin lyfts fram, innan en diskussion förs om dess konstruktiva element, med hänvisning till hur Adorno ser på relationen mellan teori och praxis. En rekonstruktion av Adornos användning av konstellationen i föreläsningen Den nya högerradikalismen utgör grunden för den avslutande diskussionen. Syftet med uppsatsen är att presentera en idé om konstellationens potential som teoretisk metod, som kan riktas mot praktisk förändring utan att upprätthålla status quo. / This paper explores aspects of Theodor W. Adorno’s concept of constellation, as presented in Negative dialectics, to show its potential as a method for addressing practical, political issues. While this can seem to contradict Adorno’s negative dialectics with its insistence on criticism rather than constructive proposals, the author seeks to develop the argumentation in line with Adorno’s critical theory. The essay moves through the background and aspects of the constellation, highlighting influences from Hegel and Benjamin, before discussing its constructive elements, with parallels to Adorno’s understanding of the relationship between theory and praxis. A reconstruction of Adorno’s use of the constellation in the lecture ”Aspects of the New Right-Wing Extremism”, acts as a structure for the final argumentation. The aim is to present an idea of the potential the constellation holds as a theoretical means for practical change that does not sustain status quo.

Essa tese tem como objetivo compreender a crítica que Theodor W. Adorno faz da cultura e de que maneira ela se distingue dos modelos advindos da crítica cultural e da sociologia da cultura. Com esse fito, a tese apresenta uma série de análises da cultura de Adorno, que se iniciam na década de 1930, principalmente no seu debate com Walter Benjamin acerca da relação entre arte e política. Procurou-se entender como esse debate sofreu uma inflexão com o exílio de Adorno nos Estados Unidos, onde foi formulado o conceito de indústria cultural, a partir do qual se delineiam as críticas de Adorno ao rádio, ao cinema e à televisão e ao modo de integração social mobilizado pelo capitalismo tardio. Por meio da apresentação de outros momentos de sua obra, como a crítica literária, a estética e a filosofia, buscou-se demonstrar a complementaridade dos momentos diversos que, juntos, permitem entrever uma crítica dialética, cuja consequência é a suprassunção do próprio conceito de cultura. / This dissertation aims to comprehend the nature of Theodor W. Adornos critique of culture and how it distinguishes itself from different models arising from cultural critique and from sociology of culture. For this purpose, the dissertation presents a series of Adornos analyses of culture, which begins in the 1930s, especially in his debate with Walter Benjamin concerning art and politics. It sought to understand how this debate suffered an inflection due to Adornos exile in the United States, where the concept of culture industry would be conceived and out of which his critique of radio, cinema and television and of the mode of social integration in late capitalism were delineated. Through the presentation of other moments of Adornos work, such as literary critique, aesthetics and philosophy, it sought to demonstrate the complementarity of different moments which, together, allow us to glimpse a dialectical critique whichs consequence is the sublation of the very concept of culture.

Adorno, a member of the School of Frankfurt in what has to contribute to the study of law and citizenship. The Frankfurt School, a philosophical group formed by members of different backgrounds, had as main attribute the development of critical theory of society. Adorno was influenced each other and influenced many colleagues to the Institute for Social Research, but stood out for an original production: gloomy, pessimistic, confident in the performance of the theory linked to practice. His political philosophy related studies are linked to the study of the total administered society, the result of cultural industry and the total art, which influenced the separation of the individual life policy. The Nazi state and anti-Semitism is linked to the contradictions of capitalism. In industrial society democracy alienates the subject does not produce the expected human emancipation with the clarification. Finally, his criticism of human rights and legal form, although recognized as unfulfilled did not stride for human emancipation, allowing a connection to the Marxist thinker Evgeni Pachukanis get the release of his thought. / O presente trabalho aborda a obra de Theodor W. Adorno, membro da Escola de Frankfurt, naquilo que tem a contribuir para o estudo crítico do direito e da cidadania. A Escola de Frankfurt, corrente filosófica formada por acadêmicos de diferentes formações, teve como atributo principal o desenvolvimento da teoria crítica da sociedade. Adorno foi influenciado e influenciou mutuamente diversos colegas ligados ao Instituto de Pesquisa Social, mas destacou-se por uma produção original: melancólico, pessimista, confiante na realização da teoria vinculada à práxis. Seus estudos de filosofia política são ligados à análise da sociedade total administrada, fruto da industria cultural e da arte total, as quais influenciaram a separação do individuo da vida política. O Estado nazista e o antissemitismo, diz, estão largamente vinculados às contradições do capitalismo. Na sociedade industrial a democracia aliena o sujeito interditando a emancipação humana que se esperava com o esclarecimento. Por fim, a não realização de uma crítica mais profundamente alicerçada aos direitos humanos e à forma jurídica aumentam, do ponto de vista do pensamento jurídico, o alcance do seu empreendimento. O tal ocaso aponta para a premência de uma leitura casada entre a sua obra e a do pensador marxista Evgeni Pachukanis com vistas a uma verdadeira libertação de seu pensamento.

Der Beitrag behandelt ein Thema zur Geschichte der Musikdidaktik. Anhand der Originalquellen wird untersucht, ob und inwieweit Einflüsse Theodor W. Adornos in der didaktischen Konzeption Michael Alts nachzuweisen sind. Im ersten Teil des Beitrags werden die wichtigsten Aussagen und Gedanken der spezifisch musikpädagogischen Beiträge Adornos zusammenfassend wiedergegeben; im zweiten Teil werden alle wesentlichen Schriften Michael Alts zu musikdidaktischen Fragestellungen seit Veröffentlichung der Thesen gegen die musikpädagogische Musik Adornos (1954) ausgewertet. Die unterschiedlichen musikpädagogischen Zielvorstellungen Adornos und Alts werden herausgearbeitet: Michael Alt geht von den Möglichkeiten und Erfahrungen der schulischen Praxis aus; ihm geht es um den „Auf- und Ausbau einer geordneten, geschichtlich fundierten musikalischen Vorstellungswelt“ und um Orientierung im Pluralismus der Musikstile und Musikanschauungen. Sein Verhältnis zur Musischen Bildung bleibt dabei ambivalent. Ziel der Musikpädagogik nach Adorno ist die Ermöglichung der Erfahrung gesellschaftlicher Negativität anhand authentischer Kunstwerke und letztlich die Ermöglichung der Erfahrung des Wahrheitsgehaltes authentischer Musik, welche zur Herstellung des richtigen Bewusstseins führt. Der Beitrag zeigt, dass ein weitreichender, nachhaltiger Einfluss Adornos im musikpädagogischen Denken Michael Alts nicht belegt werden kann. / The article focuses on a historical subject of music education. It deals with the question, how far the writings and convictions of Theodor W. Adorno relating to music education influenced the didactics of Michael Alt. In this context the article discusses both authors’ different ideas of music education and teaching methodology.

El eje del presente trabajo será mostrar que en la obra de Theodor W. Adorno existe una relación entre la crítica al concepto de sujeto y el imperativo categórico qué el formula como petición de que Auschwitz no se repita. Nuestro objetivo será analizar tal relación, para mostrar de qué modo este imperativo categórico implica una autocrítica de la tradición filosófica, a los fines de sacar a luz aquellos elementos de la cultura que fueron cómplices de la ocurrencia de los campos de concentración. La idea que guía nuestro trabajo entonces es que el imperativo pos-Auschwitz que Adorno formula exige ser materializado mediante una crítica al concepto filosófico de sujeto de la modernidad. Esta hipótesis nos permitirá discutir dos puntos vinculados a esto: por un lado, nos permitirá indagar en la particularidad dialéctica y normativa del concepto de sujeto que Adorno formula y que lo distingue de otras críticas contemporáneas, y por otro lado, nos permitirá apreciar la relación entre reflexión filosófica y exigencia histórica a partir de la obra adorniana.

The problem that my dissertation addresses is the connection between modern reason and the ethical failures of modernity. My project is centered against the background of Enlightenment reason's project of rationalization, from which I argue that modern conceptions of ethics are problematic because they involve an abstraction from the reality of suffering individuals. I take up Adorno's response to this problematic and show that ethical reflection needs to be restored to the physical world of particulars in their damaged state. Philosophically, I press the need to reflect on ethical conditions and the values of our moral theories. My overall objective is to show how an Adornoesque ethics can position us in a critical and resistant mode of thinking within actual sites of suffering and damage in late modern conditions.
