Mördade flickors offerstatus : En studie om journalistikens gestaltning av unga kvinnliga mordoffer beroende på relationen till gärningsmannen / Murdered girls’ status as a victim

Paulsson, Julia, Strömbäck, Daniel January 2019 (has links)
The aim of the study was to examine how two young female victims was represented in Swedish commercial news press, if and how their relations to the perpetrator would affect their representation and what similarities and differences there were in the representation between the two. We examined the coverage of Lisa Holm, who was murdered by a stranger, and Tova Moberg, who was murdered by her abusing ex- boyfriend. The method used was a critical discourse analysis. We searched for different discourse themes in a total of twelve news articles from Aftonbladet and Expressen. We analyzed the themes and came to the conclusion that the murder victims were represented very much alike, well-liked, ambitious and good-hearted. The main difference is that Tova Moberg was not represented as innocent as Lisa Holm by the journalism because of her relationship with her ex-boyfriend. The journalism partly blamed Tova Moberg for not preventing her own death since she was aware of the danger. We found that as soon as any kind of relations between the victim and perpetrator was mentioned the victim’s status as an ideal victim decreased.

Feigning ADHD: Effectiveness of Selected Assessment Tools in Distinguishing Genuine from Simulated ADHD

Robinson, Emily 08 1900 (has links)
Research indicates that some college students may be strongly motivated to feign AHDD symptoms for desired external incentives, such as stimulant medication or academic accommodations. To date, literature examining feigned ADHD has been primarily focused on ADHD specific self-report measures (e.g., CAARS) and continuous performance tests (e.g., CPTs); however, little attention has been devoted to the use of multi-scale inventories in detecting feigned ADHD. For CPT measures, virtually no literature exists on the effectiveness of the TOVA to identify feigned ADHD, despite its frequent clinical use for establishing this diagnosis. The current study utilized a between-subjects simulation design to validate feigning cut scores on ADHD-specific measures using 66 feigners and 51 confirmed ADHD cases. As prior literature suggested, the results convincingly demonstrated that face-valid ADHD assessment measures were easily faked. Across both TOVA modalities (e.g., Auditory and Visual), the ADHD simulators performed significantly poorer than those diagnosed with ADHD. As an innovative approach, a Dissimulation-ADHD (Ds-ADHD) scale was developed and initially validated. The Ds-ADHD is composed of ten MMPI-2-RF items mistakenly believed to be clinical characteristics associated with ADHD. Requiring cross-validation, Ds-ADHD optimized cut scores and classification of ADHD feigners appears promising. They were clearly distinguishable from ADHD client, as well as those feigning general psychopathology. Recommendations for the utilization of the Ds-ADHD scale, and future directions for research are discussed.

Varianter på tänkbara huvuden

Berglund, Tova January 2017 (has links)

Correspondence Between TOVA Test Results and Characteristics of EEG Signals Acquired Through the Muse Sensor in Positions AF7–AF8

Castillo, Ober, Sotomayor, Simy, Kemper, Guillermo, Clement, Vincent 01 January 2021 (has links)
El texto completo de este trabajo no está disponible en el Repositorio Académico UPC por restricciones de la casa editorial donde ha sido publicado. / This paper seeks to study the correspondence between the results of the test of variable of attention (TOVA) and the signals acquired by the Muse electroencephalogram (EEG) in the positions AF7 and AF8 of the cerebral cortex. There are a variety of research papers that estimates an index of attention in which the different characteristics in discrete signals of the brain activity were used. However, many of these results were obtained without contrasting them with standardized tests. Due to this fact, in the present work, the results will be compared with the score of the TOVA, which aims to identify an attention disorder in a person. The indicators obtained from the test are the response time variability, the average response time, and the d′ prime score. During the test, the characteristics of the EEG signals in the alpha, beta, theta, and gamma subbands such as the energy, average power, and standard deviation were extracted. For this purpose, the acquired signals are filtered to reduce the effect of the movement of the muscles near the cerebral cortex and then went through a subband decomposition process by applying transformed wavelet packets. The results show a well-marked correspondence between the parameters of the EEG signal of the indicated subbands and the visual attention indicators provided by TOVA. This correspondence was measured through Pearson’s correlation coefficient which had an average result of 0.8. / Revisión por pares / Revisión por pares
