Syndrom vyhoření u profesionálů ve zdravotnictví. / Burnout syndrome in Health Care Professionals.Riethof, Norbert January 2019 (has links)
N. Riethof - Burnout syndrome in Health Care Professionals ABSTRACT Burnout syndrome is a state of total exhaustion related to work condi- tions and prolonged stress. While initial phases of burnout resemble stress symptoms, final phases of burnout are characterized by feelings of hopelessness, loss of meaning and desperation that have similar qual- ities as depression as well as existential vacuum described by Frankl in his logotherapy. In addition, the burnout syndrome involves stages in which people detach from their emotions and feelings as a defense mechanism against stress and have decreased ability to experience their own feelings and emotional states. Burnout usually begins with feelings of enthusiasm and idealized visualizations and it is in contrast with sub- sequent disillusionment, disappointment experienced later. After decades of burnout research, there is still a need for better def- inition of this condition including more precise diagnostic criteria and internationally recognized measurement tools, especially within health care system where the risks of unrecognized and untreated burnout are high. This study is focused on examination of potential causes of burn- out and relationships of burnout symptoms with certain personality traits, defense mechanisms and coping reactions including...

Psychoterapie obětí sexuálního násilí / Psychotherapy of victims of sexual violenceFiantoková, Barbora January 2021 (has links)
The diploma thesis deals with psychotherapy of victims of violent relationships (primarily victims of sexual violence). The work aims to look at individual experiences with these clients through interviews with experts on the issue and to examine the influence of therapeutic effects on client's personality. The theoretical part is divided into two basic chapters: Sexual Violence and Psychotherapy, it provides readers with professional information on both topics and provides key literary resources on issues in academia. Due to research goals, a qualitative methodology was chosen in the form of semi-structured interviews. The research group consists of five respondents (psychologists, therapists, social workers with psychotherapeutic education) who specialize in the issue of sexual or domestic violence. The interview was primarily about capturing and understanding the uniqueness of each respondent's professional experience. Furthermore, an analysis of the therapeutic process was performed on individual respondents, when the positive effects of the therapeutic effect appeared in their client. Respondents were asked about cases where the therapist himself does not perceive a positive change in the personality of his client after the therapeutic intervention (provided that he has encountered such a case...

Sekundär traumatisk stress bland familjehemsföräldrar, : En studie ur socialarbetares perspektiv.Vinnefors Birath, Elsa, Reginald Kiwera, Baraka January 2023 (has links)
Secondary traumatic stress is defined as the emotional distress that occurs when an individual learns about another individual's trauma. The aim of this research was to investigate what knowledge and experiences social workers have about secondary traumatic stress among foster care parents. It also aims to explore what general knowledge social workers have about secondary traumatic stress, to what extent social workers perceive that secondary traumatic stress occurs among foster care parents and what methods and strategies social workers have for prevention and intervention. The research design uses a quantitative approach to collect data from social workers in the Swedish counties of Värmland and Örebro. The findings of the study were that most of the social workers in the study: (1) Were familiar with the term secondary traumatic stress. (2) Thought that foster care parents were at risk of being affected by secondary traumatic stress. (3) Used certain strategies and methods for prevention and intervention, but that the majority lacked an empirically tested and approved method.

Health Care Services Utilization and Health-Related Quality of Life of Syrian Refugees with Post-Traumatic Stress Symptoms in Germany (the Sanadak Trial)Grochtdreis, Thomas, Röhr, Susanne, Jung, Franziska U., Nagl, Michaela, Renner, Anna, Kersting, Anette, Riedel-Heller, Steffi G., König, Hans-Helmut, Dams, Judith 04 May 2023 (has links)
Refugees who have fled from the ongoing civil war in Syria that arrived in Germany often develop post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS). The aim of this study was to determine health care services utilization (HCSU), health care costs and health-related quality of life (HrQoL) of Syrian refugees with mild to moderate PTSS without current treatment in Germany. The study was based on the baseline sample of a randomized controlled trial of a self-help app for Syrian refugees with PTSS (n = 133). HCSU and HrQoL based on the EQ-5D-5L and its visual analogue scale (EQ-VAS) were assessed with standardized interviews. Annual health care costs were calculated using extrapolated four-month HCSU and standardized unit costs. Associations between health care costs, HrQoL and PTSS severity were examined using generalized linear models. Overall, 85.0% of the sample utilized health care services within four months. The mean total annual health care costs were EUR 1920 per person. PTSS severity was not associated with health care costs. The EQ-5D-5L index score and the EQ-VAS score was 0.82 and 73.6, respectively. For Syrian refugees with higher PTSS severity, the EQ-5D-5L index score was lower (−0.17; p < 0.001). The HCSU and the resulting health care costs of Syrian refugees with mild to moderate PTSS without current treatment are low and those with a higher PTSS severity had a lower HrQoL.

BEHANDLING AV TRAUMA VID FUNKTIONELLA NEUROLOGISKA SYMTOM: EN SYSTEMATISK LITTERATURÖVERSIKTStålnacke Sandgren, Dawid, Vesterlund, Carl January 2024 (has links)

Defining A Person: The Nurse At Risk For Compassion FatigueJohnston, Ellen 01 January 2017 (has links)
The intent of this thesis was to examine compassion fatigue in nurses through analysis of research studies conducted within the past five years in an effort to identify predisposing factors to the experience of compassion fatigue. Individual and institutional factors were identified as well as current strategies to assist with management of compassion fatigue. Findings indicated that being new to practice, having a trait negative affect, being younger in age, having a history of exposure to trauma and working in high emotionally stressful units predisposed individuals to the experience of compassion fatigue. Institutional factors included a lack of managerial support, organizational commitment, group cohesion, work engagement and conflicting expectations of the nurse. Institutional interventions to assist in mitigating compassion fatigue include improving managerial support, developing group cohesion and communication and providing continuing education opportunities. Institutions can also assist by offering training in resiliency techniques such as negative thought pattern identification, meditation, peer-to-peer discussions, journaling about traumatic experiences, identification and maintenance of personal/professional boundaries and physical wellness through exercise and yoga. These proposed interventions address institutional accountability in health care worker wellness as defined by the quadruple aim. Such interventions also address use of Watson’s Caring Theory to emphasize the importance of nurse wellness as essential to creating caring nurse-patient relationships.

Canine-Assisted Therapies Among U.S. Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: An Integrative Review of The LiteratureKondos, Olivia A 01 January 2017 (has links)
A sizeable number of U.S. veterans of all ages experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which can impact their quality of life; physically, mentally and socially. Consequences of PTSD are associated with physical and emotional disabilities, including ideation of self-harm and even suicide. Increasingly, animal-assisted therapies (AAT) are used to treat PTSD and other physical and behavioral conditions in veterans. Over the decades, AATs have used dogs, cats, horses, and dolphins among other animals. The purpose of this integrative review is to examine the use of AAT focusing on canine assisted therapy (CAT) among veterans diagnosed with PTSD. The methodology involved database searches, including MEDLINE, PubMed, PsychInfo, EBSCOhost, along with textbooks and popular media published from 2000 to 2016. Associated with the lack of more recent research, relevant articles published before 2000 were included in the review. Search terms included, ‘veterans,’ ‘service dogs,’ ‘service animals,’ ‘animal-assisted therapy,’ ‘canine therapy,’ ‘PTSD,’ ‘post-traumatic stress disorder,’ ‘psychiatric,’ ‘U.S. veterans,’ ‘equine therapy,’ ‘horse therapy,’ ‘pet therapy,’ and ‘military veterans.’ A total of ten relevant studies were identified which focused on the use of AAT among veterans diagnosed with PTSD. Different populations diagnosed with PTSD and other behavioral and psychiatric health conditions using AAT were examined as well. These articles were read, analyzed, and synthesized. Results of the review offer some support that AAT has psychological, physiological and psychosocial benefits for some populations across the lifespan with various diagnoses. Consistent and conflicting findings along with gaps in the literature are highlighted. Limitations and implications for nursing practice, research, policy and education also are noted in this thesis.
