Mozzini, Camila January 2013 (has links)
From the impressions of a connected body in several ways and intensities, this study aims to discuss how we are being incited, through advertising, to constitute a life better lived because pervaded by the digital connection. The starting point for such an enterprise is anchored in a theoretical-methodological Foucaultian approach, which made possible the emergence of a series of encounters that opened the gaps required for the constitution of three problems to the thought: digital networks as a local of veridiction, sharing as a form of universalization of the digital connection, and the composition of this universal as a sphere of subjectification. Each of these tensions unfolded in different chapters of analysis: the first focuses on how the notion of digital networks is, tied to several dreams and expectations, being diluted discursively in the social fabric to the point of constituting itself as a possible instance of truth production; the second rests his attention on how the network sharing is positioning itself as a process of constant updating of living that is, aligned to the idea of immaterial labor, producing sharers that mobilize the composition of a universalization strategy regarding the digital connection; the third and last one dive more intensely into this possible universality statute of the digital connection constituted not only due to its spatial expansion and its temporal intensification but especially thanks to the character of a higher good, of a more complete existence if connected. The thread of this path amid the uncertainty of the steps was the set of advertising incitements to digital connection composed by 10 videos and three packages of products found in the course of living. The tracing of this long and discontinuous walk sought to map some routes for the tensioning of the truths that are circulating and objectivating modes of subjectification in this increasingly connected contemporaneity.

Baptism, reconciliation and unity : towards a mutual acceptance of baptismal differences

Roy, Kevin Barry 11 1900 (has links)
From earliest times Christians have differed among themselves concerning their understanding and practice of baptism. In the early church of the third and fourth centuries there was a remarkable variety of baptismal practices within the 'One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church', including infant baptism, believers' baptism, delayed baptism, emergency baptism and death-bed baptism. In subsequent centuriest diversity of baptismal views and practices was greatly restricted by ecclesiastical and civil repression. In more recent times increasing religious freedom and the growing fragmentation of 'Christendom' have resulted in various baptismal practices developing, usually associated with certain traditions and denominations. Today, three major baptismal traditions can be identified: Catholic, Reformed and Baptistt each with their own particular insights, strengths and weaknesses. Something of a theological stalemate has been arrived at today in the arena of polemical debate for one particular baptismal position. The visible unity of Christians with one another in the world is intimately linked to their divine calling to be a witness to the saving, healing and reconciling work of God in Christ. The ability of Churches to incorporate legitimate diversity within an authentic unity is vital to their ministry in and to a broken and alienated world. Many differences of baptismal understanding and practice constitute just such a legitimate diversity. In any Christian hierarchy of truths the imperatives of lovet reconciliation and unity must rank higher than matters of baptismal rites and doctrines. To allow baptismal differences, therefore, to divide Christians from one another constitutes a failure of Christian love. Empirical research has revealed a widespread and strong desire for a unity that could transcend baptismal differences. The ideal has already been implemented within a number of individual congregations and in a few denominations and found to be workable. The challenge remains to the wider Christian community to allow genuine freedom of conscience in baptismal matters within one united Christian fellowship. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / D. 佛教中觀應成派對Axel Honneth批判理論之反思 / The reflection on Axel Honneth's critical theory through prasangika-madhyamika buddhism

Unknown Date (has links)
In this thesis, I want to reflect Axel Honneth's critical theory through Tibetan Buddhism dGe Lugs pa, founded by Tsongkhapa in the fourteen century, who followed and expounded the thought of prAsaGgika-mAdhyamika. Both Honneth and dGe Lugs pa are focusing how to comfort people's suffering realistically and practically. However, by means of the thought of dGe Lugs pa, especially the view of two-truths, we could point out that Honneth's approach would fail to solve the problem causing people's suffering completely, because he did not recognize the real cause of the suffering. In the view of dGe Lugs pa, our suffering is resulted from the innate ignorance in our consciousness which grasps everything as existing truly and inherently. I want to prove two propositions in this thesis: in the first place, I argue that we can't really comfort our suffering completely unless we recognize the true cause of the suffering, the ignorance of seeing things inherently existing, and transform it rightly by means of understand that everything is empty of inherent existence without exception. I will reflect Honneth's critical theory and find that all essential concepts of his theory of recognition are empty of inherent existence. Secondly, I argue that if we rightly understand dGe Lugs pa's thought, we would not abandon the goal of practically resolving the problems causing people's suffering, which is the common interest of Axel Honneth and dGe Lugs pa. In order to prove these two propositions, I arrange the thesis into six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction to the thesis's main arguments. The following two chapters focus on Honneth's critical theory: in chapter two I will illustrate the so called " left-Hegelianism", by this concept Honneth emphasis the critical theory which is directed to diagnosis the social pathology, and accordingly transform it practically through social praxis; the third chapter will elaborate the model of "struggle for recognition", which is founded by Honneth to revive the left-Hegelianism critical theory at the present time. In chapter four I will illustrate some essential concepts of dGe Lugs pa, including the concept of svabhAva, two-truths and bodhicitta. Through these illustrations I want to found the tool for pointing out the misrecognition of the cause of suffering in Honneth's critical theory, and explain the dGe Lugs pa's alternative solution to the problem causing people's suffering. In fifth chapter, some reasoning using for proving the emptiness of inherent existence will be expounded, the concepts which we want to show empty of inherent existence are: "I", persons, actor, act, suffering, the person who suffers, desirous one and the desire. These concepts are those essential for Honneth's critical theory. By means of understanding the emptiness of these concepts, we will understand those concepts Honneth used for constructing his theory are empty of inherent existence. In chapter six, the conclusion of this thesis, I will use the resources illustrated in above five chapters to restate the two propositions arguing in the introduction.

L’ordonnancement singulier du sujet : autocensure et constitution du sujet politique / The Singular Organization of the Subject : Auto-Censorship and constitution of the Political Subject

Iarossi, Pauline 03 December 2016 (has links)
In the beginning and in general, I here propose a construction of the concept of autocensorship. In the sense in which I employ the term, however, the concept of auto-censorship cannot be grasped without the simultaneous elaboration of another concept, namely, the subject and the political subject in particular. Beginning with the notions of repression and sublimation in Freud before reconstituting the relations between body and world necessary for the transformation of the body into a subject, I propose an understanding of the strict relation between a historico-political subjectification (care of the self and asceticism in Michel Foucault) and an auto-censorship, that is to say, an auto-constitution of the subject in history by an endless symbolic interpretation of the human and a complex of technologies (knowledge or expertise, truths, powers). These technologies constitute the underpinning of responses that the subject, engaged in history, returns to itself in order to become a political subject.

Marie : une lecture comparée de "Redemptoris Mater" (Jean-Paul II) et du "Commentaire du Magnificat" (Luther) à la lumière des dialogues œcuméniques / Mary : a comparative study of "Redemptoris Mater" (John-Paul Il) and the "Commentary on the Magnificat" (Luther) in the light of ecumenical dialogues

Graber, Anne-Cathy 19 December 2015 (has links)
The role of Mary is often understood as an obstacle to reconciliation between Churches. Using this theme, the dissertation has as its objective the verification of the coherence of the contemporary ecumenical movement aswell as to how the results of the various dialogues correspond to the official teaching of the Churches. The starting point is a comparative study of John-Paul II’s Redemptoris Mater and Luther’s Commentary on theMagnificat. This comparison is then examined in the light of results from various ecumenical dialogues (between Lutherans and Catholics as well as Evangelicals, Pentecostals and Catholics…). Out of the dialogues come reciprocal questions concerning how Mary is understood in the mystery of the Church and of salvation. Marian theology shows itself to be a very fertile method of ecumenical verification, revealing both new consensuses and clarifying issues that remain open for ecumenical research, especially in relation to the instrumentality of the Church.

Reconstructing rainbows in a remarried family : narratives of a diverse group of female adolescents 'doing family' after divorce

Botha, Carolina Stephanusina 30 November 2003 (has links)
This research journey investigated the ways in which (1) the lives of adolescents have been influenced by parental divorce and subsequent remarriage, (2) exploring the relationships participants have with biological, nonresidential fathers and (3) to collaboratively present ways of doing family in alternative. Four adolescent girls took part in group conversations where they could were empowered to have their voices heard in a society where they are usually marginalized and silenced. As a result of these conversations a family game, FunFam, was developed that aimed to assist families in expanding communication within the family. Normalizing prescriptive discourses about divorce and remarriage were deconstructed to offer participants the opportunity to re-author their stories about their families. The second part of the research journey explored the problem-saturated stories that these four participants had with their biological, nonresidential fathers. They deconstructed the discourses that influenced this relationship and redefined the relationship to suit their expectations and wishes. / Practical Theology / M.Th.
