Deformabilidade de ligações viga-pilar de concreto pré-moldado / Deformability of beam-column connections in precast concrete structures

No presente trabalho é abordada uma metodologia analítica para o cálculo de deformabilidades de ligações típicas de concreto pré-moldado, levando-se em conta os mecanismos básicos de deformação na ligação. Foram estudas duas ligações típicas viga-pilar de concreto pré-moldado. A primeira ligação é uma ligação com almofada de elastômero e chumbador. É apresentado um desenvolvimento analítico para o cálculo da deformabilidade ao cisalhamento da ligação. Também, é abordado um procedimento para a determinação da resistência ao cisalhamento. Foram realizados ensaios de cisalhamento, de flexão e torção nessa ligação, onde foram variados a geometria da almofada e o diâmetro do chumbador. A segunda ligação é uma ligação resistente à flexão com chapas soldadas. É apresentado um desenvolvimento para o cálculo da deformabilidade à flexão da ligação. Foram realizados dois ensaios de flexão alternada em um protótipo com ligações soldadas e um protótipo monolítico, o qual serviu de referência para avaliar a rigidez da ligação. Os valores calculados da deformabilidade ao cisalhamento, para os protótipos com almofada de elastômero e chumbador, foram, em média, 23% superiores aos valores experimentais. Todavia, este equacionamento não se aplica ao caso de uma ligação com almofada com um fator de forma maior do que 5. As resistências ao cisalhamento calculadas corresponderam a valores entre 96 a 100% em relação aos valores experimentais. A ligação com chapas soldadas apresentou uma rigidez à flexão da ordem 83% da rigidez da ligação monolítica. O valor calculado para a rigidez à flexão secante foi 5% superior à rigidez apresentada pela ligação ensaiada. O momento máximo de cálculo da ligação, estimado com base na rigidez calculada, foi 6% superior ao momento de ruptura. A partir dos resultados experimentais, demonstrou-se que, através da utilização de procedimentos analíticos para a determinação das deformabilidades, pode-se obter uma boa estimativa para os valores experimentais, constituindo-se assim em uma alternativa viável e em uma ferramenta de grande potencial a ser explorado para o projeto das ligações de concreto pré-moldado. / This thesis discusses an analytical methodology to determine the deformability of beam-column connections for precast concrete structures, considering the basic mechanisms of deformation in these connections. Two typical beam-column connections it was studied. For the first one, which consists of a connection with bearing pad and dowel bars, is presented an analytical development to determine its shear deformability. In addition, it is discussed a procedure to determine its shear resistance and some tests, which include shear, bending moment and sprain about beam axis, are also reported, where it were used different parameters to the bearing pad geometry and to the dowel bar diameter in the connections. For the second connection, which consists of a moment resistant connection with welded plates, is presented an analytical development to determine the connection flexibility. In order to evaluate the flexibility behaviour of the connection, two tests are reported. In the first one was used a rigid connection, which was used as a stiffness reference. As a result, the theoretical shear deformability, calculated to the prototypes with bearing pad and dowel bars, presented 23% more than the experimental results. Therefore, this calculus was not applied for pads with shape factor bigger than 5. The predicted shear resistance suited to values between 96 and 100% in relation to experimental values. The stiffness response of the resistant moment connection suited about 83% of the rigid connection stiffness. The theoretical secant stiffness of the connection it was 5% bigger than the experimental response. The predicted ultimate bending moment it was 6% bigger than moment crack of connection. Based on the analysis of the results, it was demonstrated that, the employ of analytical developments to determine deformabilities in the precast concrete connections is viable and provides good estimated values. In other way, the use of those analytical developments together with available procedures consist on important design tools to be applied for the precast concrete connections.

From there the child connects with the outside world to observe the other in their attitudes, words and actions. Studies show the link between imitation and social interaction, language acquisition, motor and cognitive skills. Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have difficulties in social interaction and to connect with the outside world. The general objective of this study was to compare the performance in imitation of tasks between children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and children with typically development. The instruments used to compare the performances were: Imitation battery (BI) with 13 tasks developed for children between 12 and 24 months and the other battery d130 (Bd130) with 15 tasks developed for children between 2 and 5 years, these instruments have been applied in 3 groups of children: A: typical children aged between 18 and 24 months -BI; B: typical children 6 years old - Bd130 and C: children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) aged between 3 and 7 years-BI and Bd130. These batteries have been applied by the researcher individually and in a quiet environment. The result showed that: 1) the two sets of tasks could be applied and are reliable to evaluate the ability of imitation of children. The d130 battery should better assess typical children younger than 6 years because almost all managed to perform all tasks, with little difficulty in some more complex items; 2) the tasks of BI for typical children between 18 and 24 months are well structured and performance is a direct function of age. Increase the sample size aged at least every two months will be needed to better demonstrate the ability to imitate by age and by gender. The same tasks for children with ASD showed capacity of discrimination, indicating the commitment of this sample. These results should be confirmed in a larger number of children; 3) we found that in children between 18 and 24 months the success of the children answer the tasks presented depend on the appropriate link establishment with the applicator; 4) the tasks proposed by d130 battery were suitable to assess the ability of children with ASD imitation between the ages of 3 to 7 years. It was observed that the skills of the act of imitating that more are affected are those related to motor skill as: copy a circle, square, cross and star. It was possible to see a big difficulty in holding the pencil properly to execute their proposed models. Another skill that proved impaired was the imitation of building a simple visual pattern, showing once again that children with ASD have difficulty to pay attention to details. And the last skill that is damaged is the one linked to the language because many of the children did not speak or had difficulty in speech, not being able to recognize the sound they were producing. With increased sample size may be tested the performance of these tasks in a broader manifestations of ASD spectrum; 5) it is proposed that the d130 function - imitation of the ICF-CY (International Functionality Coding for Children and Adolescents) is classified with the use of these 15 tasks d130 Battery / A imitação é uma função relevante para o desenvolvimento infantil. A partir dela a criança se conecta com o mundo exterior ao observar o outro em suas atitudes, falas e ações. Estudos evidenciam a ligação entre imitação e interação social, aquisição de linguagem, habilidades motoras e cognitivas. Crianças com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo (TEA) apresentam dificuldade na interação social e de se conectar com o mundo exterior. O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar o desempenho em tarefas de imitação entre crianças com Transtorno do Espectro Autista e crianças com desenvolvimento. Os instrumentos utilizados para comparar os desempenhos foram: Bateria de Imitação (BI) com 13 tarefas desenvolvido para crianças entre 12 e 24 meses e o outro Bateria d130 (Bd130) com 15 tarefas desenvolvido para crianças entre 2 e 5 anos, esses instrumentos foram aplicados a 3 grupos de crianças: A: crianças típicas com idades entre 18 e 24 meses BI; B:crianças típicas com 6 anos de idade Bd130 e C: crianças com Transtornos do Espectro do Autismo (TEA) com idades entre 3 e 7 anos- BI e Bd130. Essas baterias foram aplicadas pelo pesquisador individualmente e em um ambiente tranquilo. Os resultaram permitiram concluir que: 1) os dois conjuntos de tarefas puderam ser aplicados e são confiáveis para avaliar a capacidade de imitação das crianças. A Bateria d130 deve avaliar melhor crianças típicas com idades inferiores a 6 anos pois praticamente todas conseguiram executar todas as tarefas, apresentando pequena dificuldade em alguns itens mais complexos; 2) as tarefas da BI para crianças típicas entre 18 e 24 meses estão bem estruturadas e o desempenho é função direta da idade. Aumento do número amostral com idades variando no máximo a cada 2 meses será necessário para evidenciar melhor a capacidade de imitar por faixa etária e por gênero. As mesmas tarefas para crianças com TEA mostraram capacidade de discriminação, indicando o comprometimento desta amostra. Tais resultados deverão ser confirmados em um numero maior de crianças; 3) foi possível verificar que nas crianças entre 18 e 24 meses o sucesso na resposta das crianças as tarefas apresentadas dependem do estabelecimento de vínculo adequado com o aplicador; 4) as tarefas propostas pela Bateria d130 foram adequadas para avaliar a capacidade de imitação de crianças com TEA entre as idades de 3 a 7 anos. Observou-se que as habilidades do ato de imitar que mais estão prejudicadas são aquelas ligadas à habilidade motora como: copiar um círculo, quadrado, cruz e asterisco. Foi possível perceber uma grande dificuldade em segurar o lápis de maneira correta para execução dos modelos propostos. Outra habilidade que se mostrou prejudicada foi a imitação da construção de um padrão visual simples, mostrando mais uma vez que as crianças com TEA tem dificuldade de se atentar aos detalhes. E a última habilidade que se encontra prejudicada é aquela ligada à linguagem, pois muitas das crianças não falavam ou apresentavam dificuldade na fala, não sendo possível reconhecer o som que elas estavam produzindo. Com aumento do número amostral poderá ser testado o desempenho destas tarefas num espectro de manifestações mais amplo dos TEA; 5) propõe-se que a função d130 imitação da CIF-CJ (Codificação Internacional de Funcionalidade para Crianças e Adolescentes) seja classificada com o uso destas 15 tarefas da Bateria d130.

Quarenta e nove amostras EPEC típica (tEPEC) e atípica (aEPEC) pertencentes a diferentes sorotipos, isoladas de humanos e animais (cães, gatos, bovinos, ovinos, coelhos e sagüis) foram investigadas quanto ao perfil de virulência pela PCR e similaridade clonal por Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) e Pulsed-Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE). O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar se animais atuam como reservatório e fonte infecção de aEPEC para humanos. Os marcadores de virulência analisados revelaram que cepas aEPEC isoladas de animais possuem potencial para causar diarréia em humanos. As técnicas MLST e PFGE revelaram que amostras isoladas de animais e humanos compartilham relações clonais próximas ou idênticas. Estes resultados indicam que os animais estudados atuam como reservatório de aEPEC e representam fonte de infecção para humanos. Pelo fato de humanos, também atuarem como reservatório de aEPEC, ciclos de infecção cruzada animal-humano não podem ser descartados, pois a dinâmica de transmissão entre reservatórios de aEPEC não é muito bem compreendida. / Forty-nine typical and atypical EPEC strains belonging to different serotypes, isolated from humans, pets (cats and dogs), farm (bovines, sheep and rabbits) and wild animals (monkeys) were investigated for virulence markers and clonal similarity by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) and multilocus sequence typing (MLST). The virulence markers analyzed revealed that atypical EPEC strains isolated from animals have the potential to cause diarrhea in humans. Close clonal relationship between human and animal isolates was found with MLST and PFGE. These results indicate that these animals act as atypical EPEC reservoirs and may represent sources of infection for humans. Since humans also act as a reservoir of atypical EPEC strains, the cycle of mutual infection of atypical EPEC between animals and humans, mainly pets and their owners, cannot be ruled out, since the transmission dynamics between the reservoirs are not yet clearly understood.

Narrative language in typically developing children, children with specific language impairment and children with autism spectrum disorder

Abstract This study examined Finnish children’s narrative skills using a picture-based story generation task. 4- to 8-year-old children with typical development (n = 172), 5- to 7-year-old children with specific language impairment (SLI) (n = 19) and 5- to 10-year-old children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) (n = 16) participated in the study. Linguistic (productivity, syntactic complexity, grammatical accuracy) and pragmatic (referential accuracy, event content, mental state expressions, discourse features, and story comprehension) measures were used so as to gain a comprehensive picture of narrative skills. The choice of measures was based on the narrative abilities of the participants, and not all measures were used with all participants. In typically developing children, a subtle development trend was seen in all the measures used, but significant differences between consecutive age-groups were mostly seen in younger participants. The relationship between narrative productivity measures and event content was found to be important. The number of different word tokens was, in particular, useful in explaining the event content. For children with SLI, the linguistic and pragmatic aspects of narration were demanding. Their stories were short and contained less information than those of their control. Their referential and grammatical accuracy was also poorer than among typically developing children, and they showed difficulties in expressing the mental states of the story characters and in story comprehension. Children with ASD produced narratives with an almost similar linguistic structure to those of their control children. However, children with ASD showed difficulties in the pragmatic aspect of narration, in establishing informative story content and in story comprehension. They also tended to include irrelevant information in their stories, which was not seen to that extent in cases of typical development. This dissertation shows a development in 4- to 8-year-olds’ narratives that seems to occur around the ages of 4 and 5. Narrative difficulties seem to be related to both SLI and ASD, but are more wide-ranging in SLI, whereas in ASD difficulties focus on the pragmatic aspects of narration. / Tiivistelmä Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin, millaiset ovat suomalaislasten kuvasarjakerronnan avulla arvioidut kerrontataidot. Tutkimukseen osallistui 4–8-vuotiaita tyypillisesti kehittyneitä lapsia (n = 172), 5–7-vuotiaita lapsia, joilla on kielellinen erityisvaikeus (SLI) (n = 19) ja 5–10-vuotiaita lapsia, joilla on autismikirjon häiriö (ASD) (n = 16). Tutkimuksessa käytettiin lingvistisiä (produktiivisuus, syntaksin monipuolisuus, kieliopillinen tarkkuus) ja pragmaattisia (viittaussuhteiden tarkkuus, tapahtumasisältö, mielentilailmaukset, diskurssipiirteet, kertomuksen ymmärtäminen) muuttujia, jotta kerrontataidoista saadaan kokonaisvaltainen kuva. Kaikkia muuttujia ei käytetty kaikkien tutkittavien kesken, vaan tutkimusmenetelmien valinta perustui tutkittavien kerronnan piirteisiin. Tyypillisesti kehittyvien lasten kerrontataidot kehittyivät kaikkien käytettyjen muuttujien osalta, mutta peräkkäisissä ikäryhmissä merkitsevä muutos havaittiin vain nuorempien ikäryhmien välillä. Kerronnan produktiivisuuden ja tapahtumasisällön välillä havaittiin yhteys, ja erityisesti eri saneiden määrä oli merkitsevä tapahtumasisällön selittäjä. Kerronnan lingvistinen ja pragmaattinen hallinta oli haastavaa lapsille, joilla on SLI. Heidän kertomuksensa olivat pituudeltaan, tapahtumasisällöltään ja mielentilailmauksiltaan niukempia sekä viittaussuhteiltaan epätarkempia kuin tyypillisesti kehittyvien lasten kertomukset. Lapset, joilla on SLI, tuottivat enemmän kieliopillisia virheitä kuin kontrollilapset, ja myös tarinan ymmärtäminen oli heille haastavaa. Kertomuksen lingvistinen rakenne oli likimain samankaltainen tyypillisesti kehittyneillä lapsilla ja lapsilla, joilla on ASD. Lapset, joilla on ASD, tuottivat tapahtumasisällöltään niukempia kertomuksia kuin kontrollilapset, ja lisäksi heidän tarinansa sisälsivät irrelevanttia tietoa. Kertomuksen ymmärtäminen oli myös vaikeaa lapsille, joilla on ASD. [pt] O presente trabalho se propõe a fazer um levantamento de estudos que concebam o autismo como um distúrbio de contato afetivo. Para isso, será utilizada a perspectiva desenvolvimentista que concebe que todo o desenvolvimento psicológico é fruto de uma construção social e não apenas uma maturação biológica determinista. O engajamento afetivo é o que possibilita o desenvolvimento da interação social da criança. Ocorrendo falhas na relação afetiva entre mãe e bebê podem ocorrer déficits no desenvolvimento das intersubjetividades primária e secundária. Como consequência, ocasionam prejuízos na comunicação e na fala. Por meio do estudo do desenvolvimento típico, veremos o que não ocorreu no autismo. Como uma forma de ilustrar a pesquisa serão apresentados relatos autobiográficos de pessoas portadoras do espectro autista. Esses fragmentos auxiliam na compreensão de como autistas vivenciam a questão afetiva. / [en] This work proposes to make a raising of studies that conceive the autism as a disturbance of affective contact. To become it possible, the developmental perspective will be used because it conceives that every psychological development is the result of a social construction and not just a determinist biological maturation. The affective engagement is what makes possible the development of the child s social interaction. When failures occur in the affective relation between mother and baby, shortages can occur in the primary and secondary intersubjectivities. Damages in the communication and in the speech occur, as consequence. By the study of the typical development, we ll see what didn t occur in the autism. To illustrate the research, autobiographical narratives of people with autistic spectrum will be presented. These fragments help in the comprehension of how autistics live the affective matter.

Cette recherche trouve son origine dans une pratique clinique quotidienne auprès d'enfants en âge de latence accompagnés pour leurs difficultés d'apprentissage. L'âge de latence est pour l'enfant une étape importante de réaménagement cognitif et de désintrication pulsionnelle. Si les troubles des apprentissages et l'échec scolaire peuvent trouver leur origine dans des temps plus anciens du développement psycho-cognitif du sujet, la période de latence est cruciale pour le déploiement de la curiosité intellectuelle et la réalisation de "conquêtes" importantes de la symbolisation. Ne pas savoir lire, écrire, compter, ne constitue bien souvent que la partie émergée de difficultés plus profondes qui touchent chez certains sujets tous les modes de figurabilités et différents niveaux de symbolisation. Cette thèse explore les différentes significations des conduites anti-apprentissages que développent ces enfants dans leurs expériences d'appropriation, d'exploration et de manipulation de l'environnement. Enfin, ce travail présente un outil de repérage clinique et d'évaluation qualitative des groupes à médiation thérapeutique qui sont proposés pour accompagner cette clinique des apprentissages. L'intérêt thérapeutique de ces dispositifs sera questionné et illustré au travers de trois expériences de groupe : un atelier à médiation sensorielle, un atelier peinture et un groupe à médiation théâtrale. / This research finds its origin in a daily clinical practice with children in latence period in treatment for their learning disabilities. The latence period is an important stage of cognitive reorganization and drive defusion. If the learning disabilities and the academic failure can find their origin in older times of the psychic and cognitive development of the subject, the time of latence period is crucial for the growth of the intellectual curiosity and achieve important symbolic “conquests”. Deep, unresolved psychic issues can perturb all modes of abstraction and symbolic understanding as well as causing difficulties in the acquisition of reading and writing. This dissertation explore the various meanings of the anti-learnings conducts which develop these children in their experiences of appropriation, exploration and manipulation of the environment. Finally, this work presents a tool of clinical analysis and qualitative evaluation of the groups of therapeutic mediation which are proposed to treat these context of learning disorder. The therapeutic interest of these settings will be questioned and illustrated through three experiences of group : a workshop with sensory mediation, a painting group experience and a therapeutic group with the medium of theater.

Performance of Deep Geothermal Energy Systems

Geothermal energy is an important source of clean and renewable energy. This project deals with the study of deep geothermal power plants for the generation of electricity. The design involves the extraction of heat from the Earth and its conversion into electricity. This is performed by allowing fluid deep into the Earth where it gets heated due to the surrounding rock. The fluid gets vaporized and returns to the surface in a heat pipe. Finally, the energy of the fluid is converted into electricity using turbine or organic rankine cycle (ORC). The main feature of the system is the employment of side channels to increase the amount of thermal energy extracted. A finite difference computer model is developed to solve the heat transport equation. The numerical model was employed to evaluate the performance of the design. The major goal was to optimize the output power as a function of parameters such as thermal diffusivity of the rock, depth of the main well, number and length of lateral channels. The sustainable lifetime of the system for a target output power of 2 MW has been calculated for deep geothermal systems with drilling depths of 8000 and 10000 meters, and a financial analysis has been performed to evaluate the economic feasibility of the system for a practical range of geothermal parameters. Results show promising an outlook for deep geothermal systems for practical applications.

Eine CarSharing-Zielgruppenanalyse der großen SrV-Vergleichsstädte

Due to enormous growth rates during the last couple of years CarSharing has become an interesting field of research. This Master Thesis focuses on the analysis of CarSharing users. For this purpose more than 37.000 participants of the "Große SrV-Vergleichsstädte"-Survey were taken into account. After a short literature review and some general information about the statistical methods, the thesis tries to work out some major characteristics of the typical CarSharing user. It will be shown, that a high income and a young age are of central importance. Also when analysing other variables different user quotas are observed, but can mostly be explained with different age or income levels. This thesis is looking into problematics of children's view of teachers from gender perspective. It compares idea of typical male and female teacher, idea of ideal male and female teacher and also characteristics of actual male and female teachers. Main subject of this research is, if and how much is an ideal model of a teacher and children's real life experience influenced by a gender stereotype. Several researches have proven, that pedagogical personality and the way it is received has a major impact on studying effectiveness and attitudes towards school. These particular research uses quantitative methodology. Specifically a questionnaire survey. Several students of elementary school filled three questionnaires. Studie av effektiviseringsmöjligheter avseende dimensionering av typförstärkningslösningar i infrastrukturprojekt

Berganläggningar kräver oftast någon form av bergförstärkning. Vid projektering av nya berganläggningar används typförstärkningslösningar, vilket innebär en typ av bergförstärkning som är repeterbar för vissa i förväg bestämda kriterier. De styrande parametrarna är vanligtvis spännvidd och bergkvalité. Tidigare byggda tunnlar har medfört flera dimensionerade typförstärkningslösningar för olika förutsättningar och förhållanden. Det är därför fördelaktigt att studera tidigare projektering och dimesionering av typförstärkningslösningar. Syftet med examensarbetet var att undersöka effektiviseringsmöjligheterna avseende dimensionering av typförstärkningslösningar. En fallstudie genomfördes, där sju olika projekt studerades, dessa var Citybanan, Nya tunnelbanan, Norrbotniabanan, Hallsberg - Stenkumla, Hamnbanan, Botniabanan och Förbifart Stockholm. För respektive projekt analyserades geologiska förhållanden, dimensioneringsmetodiken och designade typförstärkningslösningar. / Rock facilities usually requires some type of rock support. When designing new rock facilities, typical support solutions are used. These are solutions that are repeatable for certain predetermined criteria. The guiding parameters are usually tunnel width and rock quality. Previously built tunnels have resulted in several designed typical support solutions for different conditions. It is therefore advantageous to study how we have previously designed typical support solutions. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the possibilities of improving the efficiency of designing typical support solutions. A case study was carried out, in which the seven different studied projects were the City Line, the new Metro, the north Bothnian Line, Hallsberg - Stenkumla, the Hamn Line, the Bothnia Line and the Stockholm Bypass. For each project, the geological conditions, the design methodology and the typical support solutions were analyzed.
