This work deals with the iconographic programme of the Jesuits in the baroque sculptural decoration of Svatá Hora (Holy Mountain). The first chapter is devoted to the literature, which has been written about Svatá Hora (Holy Mountain) near Pribram. The next chapter talks of the history of the pilgrimage site before the Society of Jesus became active there, after its arrival in 1647 until its suppression in 1773. It was also opportune to deal with the history of Svatá Hora (Holy Mountain) during the period of the provosts in the years 1773 - 1861. I also dealt at least in outline form with the years 1871-1950, when the Redemptorists administered Svatá Hora (Holy Mountain) and made significant changes to the iconography of the compound. In the following chapter, I devoted myself to the building and artistic activities during the time of the priests of the Society of Jesus. A separate chapter is dedicated to the illustration and veneration of Our Lady of Svatá Hora (Holy Mountain). In another work, I focused primarily on the individual sculptural decorations of the pilgrimage site and its iconographic illustrations. La Vie de la bienheureuse Vierge Marie dans les traditions apocryphes syro-orientales / The Life of the blessed Virgin Mary in the Syro-Oriental apocryphal traditions

Femme à la destinée unique, la Vierge Marie a suscité intérêt, passion et engouement tout au long des siècles de l’Ère chrétienne. Elle a inspiré artistes, écrivains et prédicateurs et sa vie a fait l’objet de récits exemplaires. La Vie de la Vierge traverse l’histoire de la littérature syriaque. Ce ne sont pas moins de 23 manuscrits syro-orientaux qui sont parvenus jusqu’à nous. Relativement récents puisqu’ils ont été copiés de 1243 à 1917 AD, ils plongent leurs racines dans des textes bien plus anciens. Dans un premier volume, la copie d’un manuscrit de la fin du XIIIe siècle, conservé au monastère Notre-Dame des Semences d’Alqoš, dans l’Irak actuel, a été choisie, en raison de son exhaustivité, pour une édition complète et une première traduction en français. Un apparat critique très important puisqu’il concerne 18 manuscrits – 5 manuscrits ne sont malheureusement pas accessibles actuellement – vient compléter ce travail d’édition et permet l’établissement d’un stemma qui met en lumière l’existence de quatre familles de manuscrits, avec un manuscrit singulier, copie d’une version syro-orientale originelle aujourd’hui perdue. Dans un second volume, le commentaire de l’œuvre souligne la singularité de ce texte apocryphe chrétien syro-oriental. Il s’agit bien pour son auteur d’annoncer le Christ Jésus qui, par son incarnation, vient rétablir la création déchue dans son harmonie originelle et racheter l’humanité. Il le fait en présentant la vie de Marie, sa mère. Elle est alors la femme qui transcende toutes époques et tous lieux et devient une incarnation de l’éternel féminin. / A woman with a singular destiny, the Virgin Mary has caused interest, enthusiasm and even passion throughout the centuries of the Christian era. She has inspired artists, writers and preachers; and her life has been the object of narratives to be imitated. The Life of the Virgin can be found over the course of the history of Syriac literature. There are no fewer than 23 Syro-Oriental manuscripts that have come down to us. They are relatively recent. There were copied from 1243 to 1917 AD, with roots in much older texts. In the first volume, a copy of a manuscript from the end of the 13th century, kept at the monastery of Our Lady of the Seeds in Alqoš, in modern day Iraq, has been chosen, because of its exhaustiveness to serve as a complete edition and a first translation into French. It contains a very important critical apparatus since it compares 18 manuscripts, unfortunately, however, 5 manuscripts are not accessible currently. This apparatus complements this edition and allows for the establishment of a stemma which clarifies the existence of four families of manuscripts, with a single manuscript, that is a copy of an original Syro-Oriental version now lost. In the second volume, the commentary on the text underlines the uniqueness of this Syro-Oriental Christian apocryphal writing. It is clear that its author wants to announce Jesus Christ who, by his incarnation, comes to restore fallen creation to its original harmony and to redeem humanity. He does this by presenting the life of Mary, his mother. She is then the woman who transcends all times and places and becomes the incarnation of the éternel féminin.

Karakterizacija kvaliteta, nutritivne vrednosti i stabilnosti devičanskih maslinovih ulja proizvedenih u različitim regionima Libije / Characterization of the quality, nutritive value and stability of virgin olive oils produced in different regions of Libya

<p>U ovoj tezi, uz pomoć literaturnih podataka prezentovano je geografsko poreklo masline i maslinovog ulja, njegova upotreba tokom istorije, proizvodni proces, senzorska svojstva, nutritivna vrednost i sastav masnih kiselina i održivost. U eksperimentalnom delu teze detaljno je analizirano pet uzoraka devičanskih maslinovih ulja-DMU proizvedenih na različitim maslinarskim područjima Libije tokom dve uzastopne proizvodne godine. Krakteristike ovih ulja su upoređene sa karakteristikama ekstra devičanskih maslinovih ulja najpoznatijih svetskih proizvođača, Italije. &Scaron;panije i Grčke. Najvažnije masne kiseline u maslinovom ulju su sedam glavnih masnih kiselina- MK koje su detektovane u uzorcima DMU. Oleinska, palmitinska i linolna kiselina su dominantne, dok su druge MK detektovane u malim količinama.Najveći procenat palmitinske kiseline nadjen je u DMU sa područja Tripoli (P &le; 0,05). Oleinska kiselina je dominantna u svim uzorcima DMU.Ustanovljeno je da je Libijsko DMU sa područja Gharyan poseduje najvi&scaron;u koncentraciju oleinske kiseline, mononezasićenih masnih kiselina, najvi&scaron;i sadržaj bioaktivnih jedinjenja i najbolju nutritivnu vrednost.Bioaktivna jedinjenja u maslinovom ulju su tokoferoli, fenoli i pigmenti. Ova jedinjenja čine maslinovo ulje veoma zdravim. Ispitivana je, takođe, i fotostabilnost DMU pod uticajem fluorescentnog svetla u periodu od 35 dana. Ovi eksperimenti su sprovedeni sa tri uzorka DMU sa poreklom iz Libije u poređenju sa uljem iz Italije. Uzorci su bili izloženi fluorescentnom svetlu u providnoj i tamno smeđoj staklenoj ambalaži. Posmatrane su izmene karakteristika boje i rezultati su pokazali da fluorescentna svetlost utiče na smanjenje kvaliteta DMU vi&scaron;e u uzorcima u transparentnoj ambalaži u poređenju sa onima u tamno smeđoj ambalaži.Osim toga, ispitana je i termostabilnost boje DMU primenom Schaal-Oven testa pod uticajem umerene temperature od 63 &plusmn; 2&deg;C tokom perioda od 28 dana. Najmanje promene karakteristika i parametri najboljeg kvaliteta zabeležene su uzorku Gharyan DMU. Uzorak je sadržavao vi&scaron;e pigmenata i fenolnih jedinjenja u poređenju sa uzorkom iz Italije i gubitak je bio najmanji za parametre boje. Pozitivna veza između jodnog broja i polinezasićenih masnih kiselina je registrovana sa koeficijentom korelacije r = +0,927. Primećena je i snažna pozitivna veza između sadržaja hlorofila i (a*) vrednosti boje, (r = + 0,859). Snažna pozitivna veza između TPC i AC (1/EC50DPPH) je takodje primećena, r je bio + 0,511. S druge strane, (1/EC50DPPH) je pokazao pozitivnu umerenu korelaciju sa TTC, (r = + 0,587).</p> / <p>In this thesis, with the help of literature data, the geographical origin of olive and olive oil, its use during history, production process, sensory properties, nutritive value and composition of fatty acids and sustainability were presented. In the experimental part of the thesis, five samples of virgin olive oils-VOO produced in various olive growing regions of Libya were analyzed in detail over the two consecutive production years. The qualities of these oils are compared with the characteristics of extra virgin olive oils of the world&#39;s most famous producers, Italy. Spain and Greece. The most important fatty acids in olive oil are the seven major fatty acids - FA that are detected in the VOO samples. Oleic, palmitic and linolenic acid are dominant, while other FAs are detected in small amounts. The largest percentage of palmitic acid was found in the VOO from the Tripoli area (P &le; 0.05). Oleic acid is dominant in all VOO samples. It has been found that the Libyan VOO from the Gharyan region has the highest concentration of oleic acid, monounsaturated fatty acids, the highest content of bioactive compounds and the best nutritional value. Bioactive compounds in olive oil are tocopherols, phenols and pigments. These compounds make olive oil very healthy. The VOO&#39;s photostability under the influence of fluorescent light for a period of 35 days was also examined. These experiments were carried out with three samples of VOO originating in Libya in comparison with oil from Italy. Samples were exposed to fluorescent light in transparent and dark brown glass containers. Changes in color characteristics were observed and the results showed that fluorescent light influences the quality of VOO more in samples in transparent packaging compared to those in dark brown packaging. In addition, the VOO color thermostability was tested using a Schaal-Oven test under the influence of a moderate temperature of 63 &plusmn; 2&deg;C over a period of 28 days. The smallest changes in characteristics and parameters of the best quality were recorded in the Gharyan VOO sample. The sample contained several pigments and phenolic compounds compared to the sample from Italy and the loss was the smallest for the color parameters. The positive relationship between iodine and polyunsaturated fatty acids is registered with the coefficient of correlation r = + 0.927. A strong positive relationship between the content of chlorophyll and (a*) of the color value was noted, (r = + 0.859). A strong positive association between TPC and AC (1/EC50DPPH) was also observed, r was + 0.511. On the other hand, (1/EC50DPPH) showed a positive moderate correlation with TTC, (r = + 0.587).</p>

Emerging Solutions for the Improvement of Food Traceability in the EU: Examining the Use of Blockchain Technology for Tracing Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)

The issue of food traceability is one that affects a great number of sectors and policy areas. Within the EU, there is increasing demand from consumers, businesses and institutions to have more direct access to information about how food is produced, transformed, and distributed. Currently, however, practices in the industry are very much open to human error. Databases are highly vulnerable to inaccuracies and hacking, as well as deliberate faults caused by corruption or fraudulent conduct. With food traceability being so closely related to trade and public health issues, there is arguably increasing incentive for the EU to seek alternative tools to increase transparency and accountability throughout supply chains. Consequently, this paper will examine a possible alternative to current practices by evaluating the applicability of 'blockchain' technology, namely a system of digitised, decentralised ledgers, which could allow key stakeholders to access information about the provenance of food immediately, comprehensively and securely. The analysis will focus specifically on Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO), one of the most adulterated products in the food industry, identifying gaps and opportunities in current traceability systems. The research question tackled in this paper, therefore, may be formulated as follows: how and to what extent could blockchain technology constitute a sustainable solution for improving the traceability of EVOO within the EU? The paper begins with a brief overview of the issue and an explanation of the research methodology used, followed by an elaboration of key terms and concepts and a detailed explanation of the principles underlying blockchain technology. Subsequently, the key challenges and opportunities associated with blockchain-based traceability systems are examined through a case study, followed by an analysis aimed at assessing the sustainability of blockchain solutions for the EVOO sector. The conclusion, lastly, provides an overview of relevant findings and proposes a final assessment.

Through a Piece of Colored Glass : An Analysis of Caddy Compson in The Sound and the Fury

<p>The Sound and the Fury is William Faulkner’s story of the Compson family’s downfall in the American South during the early 20th century. The novel illustrates the impact on the cultural identity of the South of strictly defined social roles and the tension they created in the aftermath of slavery and defeat in the Civil War. In my analysis, I have chosen to focus on gender issues, especially in their Southern manifestation. The Compsons’ daughter, Caddy, figures prominently in the sons’ narratives, but is only portrayed through their perceptions and memories. My aim is to determine Caddy’s significance in the novel by exploring her relationships with her brothers, as seen through their eyes, and how she is characterized by them. In Benjy’s narrative, I examine her actions as a little girl in light of the Eve myth and the icon of the virgin mother. Quentin’s obsession with Caddy's sexuality as a teenager reveals the implications of associating female sexuality with death, the role of language in reproducing and combating established gender power structures, and the impact of traditional gender roles on women and men. Jason’s binary categorization of women as virgins or whores turns the few glimpses of Caddy as a mother into that of a woman treated as a commodity of exchange. In each of their narratives, Caddy is a dynamic character whose words, body, and actions expose prevailing social and gender power struggles. By conjuring her presence through her absence, her brothers reveal the depth and destructiveness of the social imperatives that underlie their attempts to control her. I suggest that Caddy’s role in the novel is to disrupt the brothers’ narratives and challenge the underlying Southern social and gender constructs that imbue them.</p>

We have chosen to analyze how four well known sex crimes were presented in the Swedish national daily newspapers in the 2000s. We chose this topic because sex crimes are considered one of the most terrible crimes. Sex crimes involve the media and upset the society. Our purpose was to analyze if we could identify stereotypes and prejudices about sex crimes in the press reports. The four sex crimes were: Rissne case in 2000, Tumba case in 2003, Hagamannen case in 2006 and the Stureplan case in 2007. We have read all the news stories from the Swedish national daily newspapers Svenska dagbladet and Expressen about our four cases. We analyzed a total of 40 articles, five articles from Svenska dagbladet and five articles from Expressen to each case. It was a strategic choice that resulted in ten articles per case from two national daily newspapers. We had three discourses in focus: gender, ethnicity and social background, when we analyzed the sex crimes. The method we used was a qualitative text analysis. Our purpose was to analyze how sex offenders and their victims were presented in the national Swedish daily newspapers. The main question was how gender, ethnicity and social background affect the presentation of the perpetrators and their victims. We have concluded that sex crimes are permeated by myths and that Helen Benedict´s eleven rape myths regarding the reporting about sex crimes in the United States several years ago are constantly reproduced in Swedish newspapers in the 2000s. These prejudices are a problem on an individual, national and global level.

Mejora de las características tecnológicas y de los perfiles sensorial y nutricional de un producto de panificación mediante la formulación con aceite de oliva virgen

A la primera part d’aquesta tesi doctoral s’ha portat a terme l’anàlisi de composició bàsica de 16 productes flequers i de brioixeria tradicionals de la província de Lleida. Els resultats obtinguts indiquen que existeix una gran variabilitat a la composició nutricional dels productes estudiats, derivada de les matèries primeres utilitzades, de la seva formulació i dels processos d’elaboració. La segona part de la tesi s’ha centrat en la millora de les propietats tecnològiques i dels perfils nutricional i sensorial del pa a través de la incorporació d’oli d’oliva verge com a ingredient. Amb aquesta finalitat s’han estudiat els efectes de l’addició d’oli d’oliva a diferents nivells (0-75%) sobre les propietats fisicoquímiques i reològiques de la massa de pa y els efectes sobre el producte final en termes de volum específic, perfil sensorial i composició nutricional. Els pans elaborats amb 4%, 10% i 20% d’oli d’oliva verge han mostrat bones propietats reològiques; no obstant, únicament els dos primers han estat acceptats sensorialment. La tercera part de la tesi s’ha centrat en millorar el contingut fenòlic del pa elaborat amb un 10% d’oli d’oliva verge, per això ha estat necessari establir el procediment d’extracció i quantificació de compostos fenòlics d’una matriu de pa. A més s’ha estudiat la millor combinació temperatura-temps-format de cocció del producte per a minimitzar la pèrdua de compostos fenòlics i maximitzar la preservació del contingut fenòlic inicial. A partir de l’anàlisi sensorial i de la quantificació de fenols, el pa formulat amb oli d’oliva Arbequina enriquit en compostos fenòlics ha estat l’escollit com a producte finalista. / En la primera parte de esta tesis doctoral se ha llevado a cabo el análisis de composición básica de 16 productos de panadería y bollería tradicionales de la provincia de Lleida. Los resultados obtenidos indican que existe una gran variabilidad en la composición nutricional de los productos estudiados, derivada de las materias primas utilizadas, de su formulación y de los procesos de elaboración. La segunda parte de la tesis se ha centrado en la mejora de las propiedades tecnológicas y de los perfiles nutricional y sensorial del pan a través de la incorporación de aceite de oliva virgen como ingrediente. Con esta finalidad se han estudiado los efectos de la adición de aceite de oliva a distintos niveles (0-75%) sobre las propiedades físico-químicas y reológicas de la masa panaria, y sus efectos sobre el producto final en términos de volumen específico, perfil sensorial y composición nutricional. Los panes elaborados con 4%, 10% y 20% de aceite de oliva virgen han mostrado buenas propiedades reológicas; sin embargo únicamente los dos primeros han sido aceptados sensorialmente. La tercera parte de la tesis se ha centrado en mejorar el contenido fenólico del pan elaborado con un 10% de aceite de oliva virgen, para lo que se ha establecido el procedimiento de extracción y cuantificación de compuestos fenólicos de una matriz panaria. Además se ha estudiado la mejor combinación temperatura-tiempo-formato de cocción del producto para minimizar la pérdida de compuestos fenólicos y maximizar la preservación del contenido fenólico inicial. A partir del análisis sensorial y de la cuantificación de fenoles, el pan formulado con aceite de oliva Arbequina enriquecido en compuestos fenólicos ha sido escogido como el producto finalista. / In the first part of this doctoral thesis the basic composition analysis of 16 baked and pastry traditional products of Lleida province has been carried out. The obtained data indicates that there is a great variability in the nutritional composition of the studied products, which is derived of raw materials used, of their formulation and manufacturing processes. The second part of the thesis has been focused on the improvement of technological properties and of nutritional and sensorial profiles of bread through the addition of virgin olive oil as ingredient. For this purpose the effect of addition of different levels of virgin olive oil (0-75%) on physiochemical and rheological properties of bread dough, and its effects on final product in terms of specific volume, sensory profile and nutritional composition have been studied. Bread made with 4%, 10% and 20% of virgin olive oil showed good rheological properties, but only the first two were considered acceptable from sensory analyses. The third part of the thesis has been focused on improving the phenolic content of the bread made with 10% of virgin olive oil; to achieve it, establishing the phenolic compounds extraction and quantification procedure of a bread matrix has been necessary. Furthermore the best combination temperature-time-format of product baking to minimize the lost of phenolic compounds and maximize the preservation of initial phenolic content has been studied. From sensory analyses and phenolic quantification, the bread formulated with Arbequina olive oil enriched with phenolic compounds has been chosen as finalist product.

The Shrine of our Lady of Ephesus: A Study of the Personas of Mary as Lived Religion

In Pure Lust, Mary Daly claims that the Virgin Mary is an “image of total subservience, the dethroned and sapped Goddess who was converted into a vessel.” Daly perceives Mary primarily through Christian scripture and other orthodox texts, ignoring her role as part of a religion lived and experienced outside of Church doctrine and dogma. This thesis explores how Mary is perceived and utilized by the laity, as opposed to the theological Mary, by specifically looking at how the Virgin Mary is imagined and experienced at the Our Lady of Ephesus Shrine in Western Turkey. Utilizing Robert Orsi’s lived religion approach and ethnographic research, this examination of the Virgin Mary will test Daly’s theologically based theory.

Veliuonos Švč. Mergelės Marijos Ėmimo į dangų bažnyčioje sukaupta didelė dalis miestelio meno paveldo. Tai vertingi dailės, skulptūrinės plastikos, medžio drožybos, smulkiosios architektūros, auksakalystės kūriniai. Nepaisant to, iki šiol nebuvo atliktas nė vienas išsamus tyrimas, apimantis Veliuonos bažnyčios meno paveldą kaip visumą. Šiuo darbu siekiama sistemingai išanalizuoti bažnyčioje esančias meno vertybes ir jų pažinimo, pasitelkiant kultūrinį turizmą ir piligrimystę, galimybes. Magistro diplominis darbas papildo senosios dailės istorijos mokslą nauja medžiaga apie bažnyčios meno kūrinių raidą ir kaitą, datavimą, autorystę. Jame: a) išaiškinta bažnyčios pastatymo data; b) nustatytas didžiojo altoriaus ir atskirų jo sudedamųjų dalių datavimas; c) išaiškinta didžiojo altoriaus paveikslų, o taip pat šv. This is a valuable art, sculpture, wood carving, fine architecture, farrier works. Nevertheless, so far none has been carried out a detailed survey, covering the artistic heritage church as a whole. This work aims to systematically analyze the church's values in art and knowledge through cultural tourism and pilgrimage, the possibilities. Master's thesis complements the old art history education in the new material on church art and the evolution of change, dating, authorship. There are: a) Church of the anniversary of the date; b) the great altar, and its individual components dating; c) the altar of the great paintings, and also St. John Nepomuk and the image of the Blessed Pink.
