Comparing burnout and work-life balance among specialists in internal medicine: the role of inpatient vs. outpatient workplaceHussenoeder, Felix S., Bodendieck, Erik, Jung, Franziska, Conrad, Ines, Riedel-Heller, Steffi Gerlinde 08 March 2022 (has links)
Background: Compared to the general population, physicians are more likely to experience increased burnout and lowered work-life balance. In our article, we want to analyze whether the workplace of a physician is associated with these outcomes.
Methods: In September 2019, physicians from various specialties answered a comprehensive questionnaire. We analyzed a subsample of 183 internists that were working full time, 51.4% were female.
Results: Multivariate analysis showed that internists working in an outpatient setting exhibit significantly higher WLB and more favorable scores on all three burnout dimensions. In the regression analysis, hospital-based physicians exhibited higher exhaustion, cynicism and total burnout score as well as lower WLB.
Conclusions: Physician working at hospitals exhibit less favorable outcomes compared to their colleagues in outpatient settings. This could be a consequence of workplace-specific factors that could be targeted by interventions to improve physician mental health and subsequent patient care.

[pt] AVALIAÇÃO PROBABILÍSTICA DA ESTABILIDADE DE UMA BARRAGEM DE REJEITOS / [en] PROBABILISTIC STABILITY EVALUATION OF A TAILINGS DAM03 January 2022 (has links)
[en] This work presents the use of limit equilibrium (LEM) and numerical methods by the probabilistic approach, in order to evaluate the stability of an iron ore tailings dam located in Minas Gerais s iron quadrangle. LEM analyzes were carried out using the Simplified Bishop (1955) and Morgenstern and Price (1965) methods, in addition to stress vs strain analyzes with the finite element method. The pore pressure fields generated in the numerical model at two distinct construction stages were exported to the limit equilibrium models in order to guarantee that both analyzes were performed on the same piezometric conditions. For the probabilistic analyzes the FOSM (First Order Second Moment) and Monte Carlo methods were applied. The basic concepts of deterministic and probabilistic stability analysis are presented together with the fundamentals of statistics and probability, FoS (Factor of Safety) calculation methods, as well as numerical modeling concepts. This work also addresses the definition and construction principles of tailings dams. This study presents an application of probabilistic methods to assess the stability of a tailings dam built and heightened by the downstream method. The results indicate that the consideration of a free failure surface was the decisive factor to the magnitude of the influence of each parameter on the PF (Probability of Failure). It was also concluded that the FoS calculation methods had a greater influence on the PF than the foundation s piezometric conditions.

Comparative study on performance between ASP.NET and Node.js Express for web-based calculation toolsDalbard, Axel, Isacson, Jesper January 2021 (has links)
Calculations have been a core part of business processes in several industries throughout the years. To streamline the process of calculations, companies seek to digitize their calculation tools to web-based calculation tools. There is currently a lack of studies regarding the performance of web-based calculation tools, and since technology changes occur rapidly, which leads to comparative studies becoming outdated, the availability of actual and relevant research regarding performance comparisons between web-development frameworks becomes imperative. The purpose of this study was to compare ASP.NET with Node.js Express performance-wise, while implemented as web-based calculation tools. The calculations implemented were placed in both the backend and frontend of ASP.NET and Node.js Express. This study consists of experimentation, presenting the experiment results, and analyzing the results to conclude the research questions of this study. The results showed that Node.js Express was the better framework performance-wise and the analysis explains why. This study also concluded that the backend was better performing than the frontend for calculations in ASP.NET, and that the frontend was better performing than the backend for calculations in Node.js Express.

When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade : A qualitative case study of the impact of Covid-19 in international supplier selection amongst Swedish companiesDjerf, Emelie, Hoxha, Leonita January 2022 (has links)
Covid-19 has impacted the international business environment on a large scale. Nonetheless, the pandemic has brought shutdowns and lockdowns, which has caused disruption and a decline in supplies. Implementing risk management in supplier selection strategy has been argued to be critical in managing disruption during Covid-19. Henceforth, the research purpose is to explore In order to provide a profound foundation for the topic, the thesis will be utilised with a qualitative approach. The data collection is derived from semi- structured interviews, which enables comprehensive data and is further used based on the literature review. The analysis of the thesis presents the vital changes necessary in the supplier selection strategy derived from the disruption caused by Covid-19. Conclusively, the thesis finalises how a risk- oriented supplier selection strategy has emerged for the company to meet future challenges. Thus, the authors interpreted it to align with the statement, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade".

Logistiklösning för värme och sanitet : En jämförelse mellan två logistiklösningar / Logistics solution for heating and sanitary : A comparison between two logistics solutionsNordin, Ida, Forsberg, Anjeli January 2017 (has links)
When planning how and where the building materials gets delivered to the construction site hasbecome increasingly more important. The construction industry is facing many challenges regardingdeliveries as there are more exceptions than regulations for how a construction site looks. It is notpossible to predict how weather, ground or traffic conditions are, but with a thoughtful planning it ispossible to influence material management. The companies that use well planned logistics has anadvantage in production, therefore today logistics is a strong part of the competition strategy. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how Bravida can be more effective when installing heatingand sanitation in buildings using a logistics solution. The thesis is delimited to a logistics solution forheating and sanitation projects involving newly built houses with 100 apartments divided into fivebuildings.Through information retrieval and interviews, two logistics methods were created that wereinteresting for Bravida to investigate. Method 1 is based on services performed by external companiessuch as Grossist A, Leverantör A and Flyttfirma B. Method 2 is based on the use of a buildinglogistics center in Bravidas existing warehouse in Nynäshamn. The main purpose of these methods isto allow the installers to focus on value creating moments by transferring suboperations such asordering, relocate and cutting materials to project managers, movers, suppliers and long-term sickpeople. In order to do the calculations the working hours of installers, project managers and planners wereexamined to see how much time the workflow demanded. Thereafter, a production typical case wasconfigured to calculate future working hours and expenses using Methods 1 and 2. The result showedthat Method 1 would increase economic profitability by 8.2 % compared with 5.7 % for Method 2.Besides economic profitability Method 1 also gives a better environment and the installers get a betterworking environment that also affects the entire construction site.In the discussion chapter, Method 1 is investigated deeper with its significance for Bravida andcomparisons to their current expense and duration.
