This study suggests that it is possible to classify websites as either extrovert or introvert and logical or emotional in style, impact and appearance. Both the extraversion/ introversion and logical/emotional dichotomies are major descriptors in the character typology devised by C.G. Jung and extended by others. Apart from the dichotomies mentioned above, Jung’s typology also makes use of various emotional characteristics of human beings as descriptors of temperament or character. The study suggests that it is useful to identify websites in terms of the descriptors that Jung and others propose, and that different websites will display various “temperamental” differences that are as important for website design as is a clear understanding of the temperaments of its target users. By taking account of the most common temperamental differences in websites, it should be possible to maximise the efficiency and appearance of different kinds of websites such as those created for government agencies, banks, online shopping, social networking and search engines. / Dissertation (MIT)--University of Pretoria, 2008. / Informatics / unrestricted

公共圖書館中文版兒童網站評鑑之研究 / The Study of Evaluation Indicators for Chinese Children’s Websites of Public Library蔡承穎 Unknown Date (has links)
公共圖書館面對網際網路以及兒童上網趨勢所帶來的影響,早已嘗試結合網路與電腦來建置兒童專屬的網站以提供新的兒童服務。然而,為求了解網站使用成效與提升網站之品質,公共圖書館有必要針對兒童網站進行評鑑作業。國外研究者針對兒童網站與網路資源早已建置了許多網站評鑑指標提供圖書員、中小學教師與兒童做為選擇、評鑑網站優劣時之參考,反觀國內相關研究內容則十分缺乏。因此,為求提升國內公共圖書館中文版兒童網站之品質,有必要針對兒童網站進行評鑑研究。
基於上述研究動機本研究首先透過文獻分析法探討兒童網站建置與規劃、兒童資訊需求與資訊尋求行為,以及網站評鑑指標與兒童網站評鑑要項等相關文獻做為本次研究之理論基礎。其次,彙整各領域專家學者所提出之網站評鑑指標並透過問卷調查法蒐集家長對指標重要性之看法以及對網站功能與服務之建議。最後,針對國內公共圖書館中文版兒童網站進行調查研究,了解現行網站之數量並針對12項網站可茲提供之服務內容進行分析比較。
依據研究資料分析,本研究提出相關結論如下:
一、網站評鑑指標:總計共有介面設計與資訊架構、網站內容、網站互動性、多媒體特性以及網站連結品質等五大構面,50項評鑑指標可做為公共圖書館評鑑之依據,研究結論包含:(一)網站內容為家長認為最重要之評鑑構面;(二)教育性、知識性、正確性、適切性、趣味性和新穎性是家長關注的網站內容性質;(三)資訊架構與介面設計構面中家長首重介面設計之易操作性、閱讀性與美觀性;(四)網站互動性功能應以有效協助兒童使用網站為首要目的;(五)網路頻寬為影響多媒體技術和網站連結品質之重要因素。
二、網站內容分析部份:目前國內共有十所公共圖書館提供中文版兒童網站介面,建置單位層級以縣(市)圖書館為主,研究結論包含(一)各館網站服務數量提供不均,數量差距頗大;(二)圖書館基本資料和相關規定、最新消息、館藏查詢、網路資源區、諮詢服務與討論區為網站最常提供的服務項目;(三)各館網站服務內容各有特色,服務名稱採用適合兒童程度之詞彙;(四)部份網站內容有連結錯誤或服務項目無內容之情形;(五)各館缺乏兒童專屬之館藏查詢介面。
最後,本研究提出數點建議如下:一、國內公共圖書館應加速規劃建置中文版兒童網站;二、已建置網站者應加強內容更新與維護;三、從使用者觀點建構優質兒童網站;四、依據年齡層級提供網站分層服務,實施網站分級制度;五、網站可加強規劃討論區、留言板;多媒體資源區;遊戲區和課業資源區服務;六、加強兒童版網站之利用推廣;七、針對現行公共圖書館中文版兒童網站進行評鑑。 / Under the influence of the Internet and children’s use of the Internet, public libraries have already attempted to establish websites exclusively for children in combination of the Internet and computers to offer children new services. However, it is necessary for public libraries to assess websites for children to ensure that they can be effectively used by children. Foreign researchers have already established many assessment indicators on websites and the Internet resources for children for elementary and high school teachers to choose good websites for children. Similar researches are rare in Taiwan. It is, there is necessary to conduct assessment study on websites for children in order to increase the quality for public libraries’ websites in for children.
Based on the aforesaid motive, literature reviewed is used to explore documents regarding establishment/planning of children’s websites, children’s information need and information seeking behavior, website assessment indicators and assessment elements, etc as the theory basis of this study. Second, gathering website assessment indicators of specialists and scholars in different fields ,and ideas of parents on website assessment indicators and parents’ suggestions on website functions and services are collected with questionnaires . Finally, twelve items of service from websites are gathered to analyze contents of public libraries’ websites in Chinese for children.
In accordance with the research information, the conclusions of this study are:
I.Website assessment indicators: There are five major aspects of interface design/information structure, website contents, website interaction, multimedia and link quality. The 50 indicators shall serve as basis of assessment on public libraries. Conclusions include: 1) website contents is the most important assessment aspect to parents; 2) parents care about the education, knowledge, accuracy, appropriateness, fun and novelty in website contents; 3) parents emphasize user-friendliness, readability and esthetic in information structure and interface design; 4) the interaction of websites shall effectively help children to use the sites;and 5)bandwidth is an important factor that influence multimedia technology and link quality.
II.Website contents: currently, there are ten public libraries with websites in Chinese for children. The websites are established by county (city) libraries. Conclusions include: 1) quantity of service from each website varies significantly; 2) the most common service items of these websites are: basic information and regulations, latest news, collection inquiry, resources, consultation and discussion areas; 3) each website has its unique characteristics and the names are designed for children’s understanding; 4) some websites have incorrect links or lack of content in certain service items and 5) neither website has collection inquiry exclusively for children.
Based on the aforesaid results, the suggestions include: 1) domestic libraries shall expedite planning websites in Chinese for children; 2) those already having websites shall enrich the contents and enhance maintenance; 3) to establish good websites for children in the views of users; 4) implementing leveled services based on age groups; 5) discussion area, message boards, multimedia resources area, games area and class resources area are recommended; 6) enhancing the utilization of websites for children; and 7) conducting assessment on domestic public libraries’ websites in Chinese for children.

Many companies create websites, but they face problems related with requirements changing until the developing process completes. In this work you will find analysis of software development methods. Agile approach allows changing requirements even in last phase of the developing process. Creating a web site does not follow one single path and there is no ideal method creating a web site. In this dissertation will be analyzed a method for web sites development based on Agile approach.

Το διαδίκτυο εισέρχεται ολοένα και περισσότερα στα νοικοκυριά αλλά και στον εργασιακό χώρο των περισσότερων Ελλήνων. Στο περιβάλλον του διαδικτύου, οι χρήστες είναι οι καταναλωτές, και η κατανόηση των προσδοκιών τους είναι υψίστης σημασίας. Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία αποτελεί μία προσπάθεια προσέγγισης των κριτηρίων που λαμβάνονται υπόψη κατά την αξιολόγηση των δικτυακών τόπων. Ταυτόχρονα με την θεωρητική προσέγγιση που παρουσιάζεται στα πρώτα κεφάλαια, στην οποία συμπεριλαμβάνονται διάφορα μοντέλα αξιολόγησης, βασισμένα στην υπάρχουσα βιβλιογραφία, επιπλέον επιτυγχάνεται μία εμπειρική διερεύνηση για την αξιολόγηση τριών δικτυακών τόπων που εμφανίζουν διαφορετικό περιεχόμενο. Σκοπός δεν είναι η σύγκριση και η κατάταξη των δικτυακών τόπων σε αξιόλογους ή μη. Αντιθέτως, η συγκεκριμένη μελέτη προσπαθεί να εντοπίσει τους παράγοντες που συμβάλλουν στην αξιολόγηση των δικτυακών τόπων. Τα δεδομένα προήλθαν από την συμπλήρωση ερωτηματολογίων και αναλύθηκαν με το Spss 19 και η μέθοδος που χρησιμοποιήθηκε είναι η παραγοντική ανάλυση. / Nowadays, the internet takes a great and important part in everyday lives in the majority of Greek people , whether at home, at work or in both locales. In the Internet world, users are consumers, and this facts has a great significance in understanding their expectations. This present study comprises an effort in approaching several criteria which could be taken into account for evaluating websites. In the first part of the study there is a theoretical approach which consists of several models of evaluation, based on the existing bibliography. In addition to the theoretical base, an empiric investigation is also represented, which has achieved for the evaluation of three specific websites with different content. The purpose is not to define which sites are “good” and which are “bad,” but rather is to help in identifying the factors that affecting the evaluation of websites. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 19 and Factor analysis method was used to identify the factors.

This thesis deals with the issue of primary school websites and the potentials of their usage by students and teachers. Recently, websites became very common means of communication and educational platform. The aim of the thesis is to determine the potentials and limits of using websites in primary education. The thesis is divided into three main chapters and it has four appendices. The introductory chapter introduces the aims and the concept of the thesis. The part dedicated to the current state of the problem describes the development of Internet usage by children in the Czech Republic and other countries. This chapter deals with statistic data from the survey carried by the Czech Statistical Office and from a National Educational Institute project Škola21, in which the leaderships of various schools answered questions about the ways of using the school website as a part of self-evaluation. In this chapter, there is also a division of the target groups of school web users, short overview that demonstrates the development of school website in the last ten years, and a description of the parts that it, in some cases, contains. Special part is dedicated to evaluation tools of school website and other resources that can help determine the criteria of a high quality website and thus its potentials and limits. The second chapter, which is the main part of the thesis, is a research of school website and Internet usage in general by students and teachers and presents the basic research questions that were being answered. The main research question that is later divided into sub-questions is "How do students and pedagogical employees use the Internet and school website?" The main tool for collecting the answers were questionnaires designed according to a pre-research. The questionnaires collected the answers about the usage of the school website from students and teachers. The answers are statistically elaborated and the results are being compared by classification of fist and second degree. Here, the ways of students' and teachers' work with the website are compared and relations that can designate the potentials of the school website are looked for. The answers were further compared according to the respondents' school location, frequency of the school website visits, Internet access and other criteria. The results of the research were further discussed in interviews with groups of students and teachers. These interviews were focused on discovering the reasons for the respondents' answers. The thesis summarizes the results of the research and puts them into context with previously published work on this topic. Using these findings, the third chapter defines and explains recommended content of a school website and thus, sets the basic limits and potentials of its usage. On the basis of the information from the overview of current studies on this topic and using the research data, the thesis suggests a school website evaluation tool, which can answer the question about how the potentials of a school website are utilized. Computational algorithms and procedures of creating the evaluation tool are described in the research part of the thesis as well as the results of its testing on two primary schools in the Czech Republic.

Previous issue date: 2003 / The aim of this dissertation is to investigate the relationship between the design of website for CD e-commerce and the virtual consumer behavior based on its purchase's attitude and intention. The main goal is to measure the virtual store design effect working as sales agent on Internet. The analysis of the virtual CD retailer was chosen, since the CD is one of the most popular products sold on this channel. This study is based on theoretical framework which describe the following main characteristics: i) Internet play the role as sales channel, ii) the CD retail market and iii) the consumer behavior and its decision processo Further on theoretical reference framework, it is showed the existing different models for website assessment: mo deI based on marketing, theory of two factors, quality assessment, web assessment mo deI (W AM) and the technology acceptance model (T AM). The analysis of its power and weakness will be base to development of the model proposed by this research. The concepts and the methods described were employed to ensure the consistency of its model. The final issue is the research design itself, applying a survey via web. The data collection was used for statistical validation of the relationship on proposed model. The structural equation model (SEM) was the statistical tool for quantitative analysis and to investigate all hypotheses generated on proposed model, supported by the theoretical reference framework. / A dissertação tem como objeto a investigação das relações entre a o design de um website de comércio eletrônico de CDs e o comportamento do consumidor virtual, com ênfase a sua atitude e intenção de compra. O objetivo principal é mensurar o efeito do design da loja virtual (website) em seu papel de agente de vendas na Internet. A análise do comércio varejista de CDs foi escolhida, pois este produto é um dos principais artigos de venda neste canal. O estudo é apoiado em um referencial teórico, no qual são analisadas as características dos seguintes pontos: i) a Internet atuando como canal de vendas; ii) o comércio varejista de CD no Brasil e iii) o comportamento do consumidor e o seu processo decisório. Ainda no referencial teórico são apresentados os diversos modelos de avaliação de website existentes: baseado em Marketing, Teoria dos Dois Fatores, avaliação da qualidade, avaliação da web (W AM) e aceitação da Tecnologia na Web (T AM). A análise e comparação destes modelos serviu como base para o desenvolvimento da proposta do modelo de avaliação website. O estudo é complementado pelo desenvolvimento de uma pesquisa, com aplicação de questionário via web (websurvey). A coleta dos dados é utilizada como forma de validação estatística das relações existentes no modelo desenvolvido. Isto é feito por meio do uso da ferramenta de análise de Equações Estruturadas (SEM), suportada pelos conceitos e métodos de abordagem descritos no referencial teórico. A ferramenta permite tanto avaliar um modelo de mensuração e um modelo estrutural simultaneamente.

Multidimensional evaluation approach for an e-government website : a case study of e-government in Saudi ArabiaEidaroos, Abdulhadi M. January 2011 (has links)
This study investigates the refinement of an evaluation framework for e-Government websites. The aim of the research was to determine how an existing evaluation framework, which recommends the use of multiple usability techniques, could be used to obtain usability data that would indicate how to improve e-Government websites and satisfy users' needs. The framework describes how common techniques, such as heuristic testing and user testing, can be used with the emerging discipline of web analytics to provide a comprehensive and detailed view of users' interactions on e-Government websites. The original framework was refined in the light of the findings and the refined framework should facilitate the improvement of e-Government websites depending on users' demands and interactions. The work involved implementing the original multi-dimensional framework in e-Government websites in Saudi Arabia. A case study method was used over two implementations. In the former implementation, the evaluation methods consisted of heuristic evaluation followed by usability testing then web analytic tools. However, in the later implementation, refinements to the evaluation framework were proposed and the order of methods was amended: web analytics was used first, followed by heuristic evaluation then usability testing. The framework recommends specific usability methods for evaluating specific issues. The conclusions of this study illustrate the potential benefits of using a multidimensional evaluation framework for e-Government websites and it was found that each usability method had its own particular benefits and limitations. The research concludes by illustrating the potential usefulness of the designed evaluation framework in raising awareness of usability methods for evaluating e-Government websites in Saudi Arabia.
