The Influence of Personal Value on Blog Future Usage Intention

Huang, Chin-hao 25 August 2008 (has links)
Behind ¡§e-mail¡§, ¡§BBS¡¨, ¡§Instant Messenger¡¨, weblog is regarded as the fourth kind of ¡§killer application¡¨ of the Internet. Therefore, ¡§weblog usage behavior¡¨ becomes a popular issue to study in not only industry but also academia. However, there is still not a complete framework to explain the motivation of blog usage and the influence factors. This research extends the ¡¥Attitudinal Belief Structure¡¦ of ¡¥Theory of Planned Behavior¡¦ and discusses which personal values among social value, utilitarian value, hedonic value and psychological value are the main motivations to use blog. In addition, we look into ¡¥past use¡¦, ¡¥attachment styles¡¦, ¡¥information recipients¡¦ and ¡¥blog type¡¦ deeply to find out which influence factors moderate the research model. This study used survey method to collect data from the Internet users and use PLS to analyze it. The result found the social value and psychological value are significant motivations among four personal values, and the influence of hedonic value is comparatively week. Then, the influence of personal value on blog usage intention is generally weaker among heavier users than among lighter users. Otherwise, psychological value influence people with preoccupied attachment style less. However, when the information recipients of blog trend to intimate friends, psychological value becomes more important. Finally, as types of blog are different, the influence of user¡¦s psychological value on future usage intention will be different. In sum, we extend the ¡¥Attitudinal Belief Structure¡¦ and renew it with social psychological theories to build a complete model. The research model can offer future study a framework to refer, and give weblog .com several marketing suggestions.

Developing intercultural communicative competence through weblogs: the case of three elementary school students

Chang, Ling Yun Unknown Date (has links)
The case study investigated the development of Taiwan elementary school students’ intercultural communicative competences and their attitude toward English learning as they participated in the intercultural communication project in the blog environment. Grounded on qualitative inquiry, an overview of critical incidents which the students met in the project was discussed. Then the investigation focused on how three of the students interacted with the international partners, local students, and instructors. The major data collection instruments were adopted including the individual interviews with the three students, and their blog entries and reflection journals. Byram’s (2000) adapted intercultural guidelines were used as the framework to identify the three students’ intercultural competences. It was found that the authentic task of communicating with the international partners was important factor which encouraged the students to get more involved in the communication. However, the lack of the communication strategies made the students feel anxious and stressed and distanced them from the intercultural communication. On the other hand, the students’ anxiety actually made them look for support and the resources on the blogs which could help them solve the difficulties. Through the instructor’s encouragement and peer learning, the students learnt how to develop intercultural communication skills and understood the benefits of learning how to reuse others’ communication process to express their own ideas. In addition to learning the strategies for intercultural communication, the students gradually developed intercultural awareness. They were more willing to reflect on their own culture and think cultural issues from different perspective. As further investigating three of the students’ intercultural communication experience, it was found that students had different performance in the project. Although gaining interest in exchanging the information of cultures and school life with international partners, the three cases’ differences were seen in their continuity of motivation, the challenges they faced, and the roles they felt comfortable to be in the intercultural communication project. Their difference are related to learners’ learning styles and their perception of internet use which benefit or stop the cultivation of their intercultural communicative competences. As for their attitude toward English learning, the results shows that the blog features like asynchronous communication and multimedia integration could help the students experience the process of using English as the medium for social interaction with less anxiety and increase their motivation for presenting life experience in their own way. The students developed positive attitude toward practicing English through communicating with international partners on the blogs. The results of the study show that personal factors, such as individual background, perception of internet use and anxiety played an important role as learners develop intercultural communication. Thus, this study suggests that more efforts should be paid to explore how to support learners and help them integrate resources in order to increase their participation in intercultural communication on the internet.

____________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / This research studies weblogs as a source of information for journalists, in relation to oriented information flow.

Character weblog: discourse and dialogism in the meaning production between viewers and character of the miniseries Afinal, o que querem as mulheres?

Karhawi, Issaaf Santos 03 October 2013 (has links)
The present study aimed to understand how is the process of meaning construction between production and reception of the miniseries Afinal, o que querem as mulheres? (Globo, 2010). With this purpose, it analyzes the discourses from André Newmann weblog who was the protagonist of the plot. The weblog as a genre is part of experiments undertaken by Globo since 2006 with fictional products in order to insert them into a universe marked by transmedia. The introduction of new platforms within people daily life has led television broadcasters to seek different possibilities of interaction with their audience, their viewers. Now a product which used to be created \"just for TV\" travels through multiple platforms defining a moment of transmedia storytelling (Jenkins, 2009). Thus, the weblog of the character André Newmann is considered a transmedia product and it has been investigated to understand how it is constructed as a locus of discursive interaction and meaning construction between the instances of production and reception. This analysis is particularly interesting since Andre Newmann\'s weblog had space for comments rarely present in other characters weblogs and in addition it has been maintained by Michel Melamed -protagonist of the miniseries, and author of all posts. Therefore, another objective of this research is to comprehend the dialogical relation between the actor-character and these viewers who are now reading his weblog. Furthermore, it aims to unveil the discursive ethos of these interlocutors with the intention of observing how character and viewers are constituted and constitute each other in the dialogical process. It was chosen to form a paradigmatic axis of the work Bakhtin theory Language (2010a, 2010b), along with theoretical and methodological French Discourse Analysis. The corpus of the research consists of André Newmann\'s texts (51) and viewer\'s comments (1236) all intentionally selected to incorporate thefinal work. Some of the main considerations at the end of the study show that the production instance (represented by the character) is constantly looking for an active responsive position from the viewers. This fact leads to the conclusion that the weblog was an active and important element on the process of creating a transmedia storytelling. In the reception instance, it was observed that viewers once they are on a dialogical environment they begin to participate and build mutually a live speech. In consequence, it is evident that one of the most important aspects of this character weblog is not only take a television character to the Internet but mainly gives to its viewers a voice.

Bloggen inom journalistiken : En kvalitativ intervjustudie av bloggens produktionsprocess, funktion och framtid inom journalistiken

Qvarngård, Jens, Skoghäll, David January 2008 (has links)

Under vilka villkor produceras bloggarna?
