Abstract: At the beginning, only texts that could easily be posted on the Internet through a simple personal publication tool, the blog. With the popularization of photo and video digital cameras, independent or in mobile phones, besides other digital devices, the images and the sound have made an alliance with the text and have built a complex space of contents created by users. They have started to use several tools (blogs, fotologs, social websites, etc.) to create a variety of contents, including texts and images about themselves. In this work, it is observed that there is a particular process of construction of subjectivities given by means of this contact with the personal publication tools. Are subjectivities constructed in a more open environment for their manifestation? How are they different from the ones produced in other spheres of the society? To answer to these questions, the analysis starts from the subjectivity concept, introducing it from the ideas of theorists like Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. Latter, it is observed the XIX and XX century transgressive literature considering the practices of subjectivity given by means of this production. Contextualizing the same subject to the internet, it is made, finally, a reflection about the cyberspace from examples that show the manifestation of subjectivities and their multiple possibilities offered by the tools analyzed. As a result, it is observed that the environment studied is a more open space to different practices of subjectivity, for being constructed at the edge of the central control of mediatic production. / Mestrado / Mestre em Artes

A review of using weblogs for teaching and learningWen, Yu-Chi 2009 August 1900 (has links)
Weblogs, one of the Web 2.0 applications, are popular among this Internet generation. Nevertheless, researchers have just begun to study their affordances for education. This report reviews the literature published in the past five years on using weblogs in teaching and learning and identifies most prominent characteristics of weblogs. It finds that weblogs have the potential to support teachers’ pedagogical strategies in terms of knowledge construction, social development, new literacies, reflection, communication and collaboration, and home-school connection. This report also compares contemporary educational blogging services, Edublogs and 21Classes, to provide practitioners some insights about how to practice blogging in their classroom. This paper concludes with an emphasis on teachers’ roles in technology integration and discusses future direction for research on academic use of weblogs. / text

Guardian.

The study of blog readers¡¦ trust and trust related behaviorsLin, Wen-jiun 13 February 2008 (has links)
Since Jorn Barger advanced the new noun, weblog, in 1997, until now blog has become one of necessary web services for almost everyone besides email. Friendly interface increases personal channel. And also, blog readers¡¦ trust information in blogs. They believe content in blogs is more useful than traditional mass media. Such trust has important impact not only on traditional mass media, but also on individuals, politics, business, society and so on. However, the appearance of fake blogs has challenged readers¡¦ trust toward blogs, thus shows the importance of trust in this wave and becomes one of the issues which can not be ignored.
This study attempts to realize the relation between readers¡¦ trust and their trust related behaviors, trust constructors, and observe the moderating role of blog categories in this relationship. According to the result of literature review, this study takes ¡§competence¡¨, ¡§integrity¡¨, ¡§benevolence¡¨, and ¡§familiarity¡¨ as for major constructors of trust, and develops questionnaire from readers¡¦ angle. Quantity research method was used by distributing online questionnaire to observe whether readers have such personal behaviors as ¡§information dependence¡¨, ¡§follow advice¡¨, and ¡§recommendation¡¨.
This study discovered that trust does have obvious impact on readers¡¦ trust related behaviors. Nevertheless, exclude integrity doesn¡¦t have significant impact on readers¡¦ recommendation behavior, the other constructors all have different importance in different blog categories. Competence is the most important constructor, but its influence is smaller than the negative impact of benevolence in master blog type. Benevolence has significant negative impact, especially in blogs which evaluate personal style. The impact of familiarity on readers to recommend others is greater than on readers¡¦ personal behaviors, but its impact on readers¡¦ personal behavior does not reach significant standard in information sharing blog type.

"Weblog e jornalismo: os casos de no mínimo Weblog e observatório da imprensa (bloi)" / Weblog and journalism: the cases of No Mínimo Weblog and Observatório da Imprensa (Bloi)Araujo, Artur Vasconcellos 17 April 2006 (has links)
The Masters degree dissertation is a research about weblog and the way the journalistic firms use it. In the first part, we did an historical and etymological examination to understand this concept of hypertext page, as well as we look for convergences between the two forms. For that purpose we search, in the blogs lexical ambiguity meanings, the confluent definitions, discovering the most usual way as a column, particularly in the form of digest. After that we watch, in the Brazilian press available samples, those that evaluate, as a kind of media criticism, the meaning and the action of journalistic procedures, choosing by the detailed examination of two cases: the Blog do Observatório da Imprensa (Bloi) and the No Mínimo Weblog, examining quantitatively the production, available in the Annex A, as well as qualitatively, by hermeneutics and the Discourse Analysis. To make familiar those that are unaware of the concepts of this methodology, was enclosed a glossary. In the verification of the results, we conclude that the publications, choosing the journalism as protagonist of its narratives, value the activity and sends, by the argumentative texture, to the tradition of journalistic praxis.

Blogging Out of Debt: An Observational NetnographyGarland, Wendy 24 November 2009 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to observe weblogs in their natural setting and to investigate the nature of collective learning within the debt blogging community. How individuals who blog their experiences with getting out of debt use their weblogs as well as the role of the commenter in the debt blogging process were also researched. Four distinct literature pools were used to frame this study including the theory of social constructivism, the context of communities of practice, the problem of consumer debt, and the medium of blogging. Utilizing observational netnography, six weblogs were researched which were comprised of individuals or couples trying to get out of debt or who have recently achieved that goal. The primary data included weblog entries and comments from the inception of the weblog to the date of the IRB approval. In addition, “About Me” pages, blogrolls, personal widgets, hypertext links, static text, and the visual context of the weblogs were also included as part of the data. The findings are as follows: First, the analysis of the data revealed six main themes in regard to the nature of collective learning within the debt blogging community. These weblogs (1) distinguish levels of participation, (2) unify and commit participants, (3) remove barriers, (4) contribute to personal growth, (5) allow for personal navigation, and (6) inspire/help others. Many of these themes are founded in the communities of practice literature, but were expanded in this study to illustrate understanding in the context of a weblog as a virtual community of practice. Second, research findings indicate the main uses of debt blogs were to (1) document financial life, (2) articulate opinions, (3) reach out, (4) express self, (5) build communities, and (6) promote accountability. Each of these findings with the exception of promoting accountability has been found in the literature. Accountability has two distinct components – internal and external. The debt bloggers feel obligated to post due to their own internal sense of responsibility as well as external obligation to post due to their duty to the community. This may be unique to debt bloggers or to those who blog about a specific problem. Finally, the analysis of the data provided seven distinct roles of the commenter: (1) supporter, (2) challenger, (3) confirmer/mirror, (4) admirer, (5) seeker of information/advice, (6) provider of information/advice, and (7) connector of community. The research findings revealed insights to the complex interaction of bloggers and commenters and the technical difficulty with capturing the dynamic nature of weblogs.
