Previous issue date: 2010-05-18 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research intends to examine the discursive construction ways of figures of professional
success in news coverage of the Brazilian weekly magazine Veja between 1968 and 2007.
Those figures are individuals and companies of solid success highlighted by the announcer
because of competence, high position in acting area, steady financial condition and so on.
Using discourse analysis, this study aims to analyze how Veja establishes themes and figures
of success, outlining, through the magazine speaker perspective, the communication contract
established between the magazine and readers. From the narrative point of view, this work
investigates which are the subjects and their valuable goods and how specificities are build
(how to become a figure of success, how to reach that stage, what it means to be such a figure,
etc.), and trace the passionate way of the characters of the narrative, linking such analysis to
the figurative and thematic construction, to finally understand the reason for the prominence
of the character and the kind of success made visible by the media, from the examination of
the simulacra of success actually built by the reports / Esta pesquisa busca examinar os modos de construção discursiva das figuras do sucesso

En utmanad elit : Politiken och litteraturen antar form i 1790-talets EnglandMalm, David January 2016 (has links)
In the midst of Frances revolution, and the shockwaves it sent all over Europe and further, another revolutionary change took place. It was the threat of literature. This paper studies certain political actor’s solutions to the challenges that faced but also shaped politics and the technologies themselves, such as reading, in England during the 1790’s. For many the spreading of literature was an end in itself. It held the enlightenment promise of a world runned by reason. But it was also a means. The intellectuals typically associated with the revolution in France, and the welcoming of it in England, – say Voltaire and Thomas Paine – were all well versed in the workings of literature. Pitted against the revolutionaries we usually find political actors such as Edmund Burke. This paper argues for more nuanced and historical understanding of the conflict, one that doesn’t give literature any inherent properties, as an a priori radical tool. We need to understand these technologies as something that there could be a different kind of solution to than repression, that Burke and his fellow hostiles to the revolution rather shaped these technologies in a mould that would fit their political cast. In this way there was, besides the ideological disputes, a struggle for the nature of literature. This took shape through a renewed interest in educating the people in institutions such as Sunday schools, and by press efforts like the magazine Anti-Jacobin; or, the weekly examiner, which form the basis of the study. This paper argues that they changed the rules of literature. Therefore it is not the immediate introduction of a technology or media that necessarily is revolutionary – not Gutenberg, nor Arpanet – but when it is spread to the people and when certain protocols for the media is shaped, that is, when they are assigned a function. This paper is a study of the shaping of literatures protocols and with that the anti-Jacobins themselves.

Sedghi, Mona January 2010 (has links)
“VeckoRevyn – your best friend in good times and bad?” is a BA thesis based on a weekly lifestyle magazine, VeckoRevyn, with a female demographic aged 18-25. Issues of the magazine, published in 2009 and on, is analyzed and dissected to better understand and be able to get answers for the questions of issue. What is said in the magazine, and how does the message reach the audience? Furthermore, the message, as well as the tone used to convey it, is reviewed as part of the discussion about consequence. The goal of this study is to show how, based on the material analyzed, a woman is spoken to in the magazine, and what kind of consequences this might have. VeckoRevyn claims it desires tobea close friend to its readers, a friend who enlightens and guides. But the fact is that in every case studied, there is an underlying message on how the readers have the chance to reach something better and more desirable based on her looks and appearance. How is this possible when in fact the magazine creates an artificial reality filled with unattainable ideals? This results in more stress in the lives of women, who constantly long to be “good enough”. The idea of beauty, which is a common theme throughout the issues of the magazine, is unfortunately based on a myth. This in turn results in mental exhaustion, a twisted self- image, low self esteem, anorexia and bulimia among its young female audience. Keywords: weekly magazine, VeckoRevyn, content, tone, the beauty myth, ideals, consequences

Tarpukario spaudos Šiauliuose raida: „Momentas“, „Mūsų momentas“, „Įdomus mūsų momentas“ / The development of the interwar printing in Siauliai: "Momentas", „Mūsų momentas", "Įdomus mūsų momentas“Brašiškienė, Deimantė 03 September 2010 (has links)
Tarpukariu (1918–1940 m.)
Previous issue date: 2016-04-28 / This study was accomplished to analyze the maturation indexes and quality of apples that occur at harvest to the commercial level as well as the variability of these indexes due to the harvest year. A database was built by the analysis of 62,807 apple samples of Gala and their mutant clones 'Gala' and 29,053 apple samples of Fuji and its mutant clones 'Fuji' for eleven years (2005 and 2015) in a commercial company. Apples analyzed were collected from commercial orchards of Fraiburgo (60%) and São Joaquin (30%) in Santa Catarina State and the Vacaria region of Rio Grande do Sul State (10%). Each sample consisted of 100 apples representing different orchards, variety and date of harvest analyzed within 36 hours after the harvest. The apples were analyzed for appearance and size. The appearance parameters were intensity of red color, frequency and size of superficial injuries and damage. Based on the analysis of appearance, each fruit was ranked in one of the following categories: Extra, Cat1, Cat2, Cat3, Cat4, Out of category undeveloped defects ‘OCUD’, Out of category developed defects ‘OCDD’ according to legal regulations. Each fruit was ranked in a size class (caliber) following legal regulations based on their mass. The commercial harvest extends from the 3rd to
the 15th week of the year for Gala and from 10th to 22th week of the year for ‘Fuji’, although about 70% of ‘Gala’ and ‘Fuji’ production was harvested in 4 and 6 weeks, respectively.
Maturity indexes and quality of apples vary significantly among the years for both cultivars. The average of 'Gala' firmness ranges from 15.7 to 18.2 lb, and from 14.5 to 16.8 lb for 'Fuji'. Regarding the soluble solids 'Gala' average ranged from 11.9% to 13.3% and for 'Fuji' ranged from 12.8% to 15.4%. The average of starch index ranging from 4.1 to 6.4 for 'Gala' and from 3.9 to 5.9 for 'Fuji'. The tritatable acidity ranged between 4.2 meq/100 ml and 6.1 meq/100ml for 'Gala' and between 4.4 meq/100 ml and 5.3 meq/100ml for 'Fuji'. The severity of russeting for 'Gala' ranged from 1.1 to 1.7 and for 'Fuji' from 1.1 to 1.8. The average size, represented by fruit caliber for 'Gala' varied between 138 and 174 and for 'Fuji' between 120 and 145. At the beginning of the harvest period, the average firmness was 17.9 lb and 17.1 lb, soluble solids of 12.2% and 12.9%, starch index 4.0 and 3.9 and titratable acidity 5.7 meq/100 ml and 6.2 meq/100ml for 'Gala' and 'Fuji' respectively. In the average from 2005 to 2016, the quality distribution in terms of category Extra, Cat1, Cat2, Cat3, ‘OCUD’, ‘OCDD’ was for ‘Gala’, 6%, 31,5%, 34,4%, 22%, 5,6% e 0,7% respectivelly and for ‘Fuji’the same distribution was 4,6%, 38,4%, 33,6%, 18,6%, 4,3%, 0,6%. At the end of the harvest period (last week) the average firmness was 14.2 lb and 14.3 lb, soluble solids of 13.1 and 14.4, starch index of 6.1 and 6.4 and titratable acidity 3.9 and 3.8 meq/100ml for 'Gala' and 'Fuji' respectively.
. Previous issue date: 2018-06-15 / Research on religious intolerance, following the attack on Charlie Hebdo Weekly in January 2015 in Paris, France, provocative event of narratives on the subject. We carry out research with the students of a school (Elementary School), of the Municipal Department of Education in Goiânia. The problem referred to religious intolerance, discussed in the history lessons of CICLO III, group "G" (7th Year), in 2015, following the groupings "H" and "I" (8th and 9th years), until 2017. The investigative tools were elaborated with inquiries based on journalistic and scientific texts about the attack on the weekly Charlie Hebdo. The students hypothetically wondered what they would choose if they were in the bombing: being a terrorist or a cartoonist, justifying their options. After observing the students' narratives, we relate them to religious intolerance. We analyze the narratives of the students about the attack, using as theoretical contribution the historical education. Subsequently, we used texts, cartoons and other sources on religious intolerance, attacks, immigration, xenophobia, Islam, interculturalism, among others. After the interventions based on these texts, we applied the research instruments for the second time, in order to verify the possible changes in the reconstructed narratives of the students, with observation and changes in their historical awareness. We identified in the narratives in the second intervention that there was little progress in relation to religious tolerance and respect for freedom of expression of religious and non-religious. We then developed a third intervention, using, however, other investigative tools that questioned why Charlie Hebdo's cartoons were offensive to the Islamic religion and asked for an explanation of what religious intolerance is today. After answering these last requests, we noticed changes, since some students demonstrated a change in the historical consciousness presenting critical temporal orientation.

Modelling and Simulation to Improve Antimalarial TherapyLohy Das, Jesmin Permala January 2017 (has links)
The introduction of artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) substantially reduced malaria-related mortality and morbidity during the past decade. Despite the widespread use of ACT, there is still a considerable knowledge gap with regards to safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetic properties of these drugs, particularly in vulnerable populations like children and pregnant women. In addition, there is growing evidence of widespread artemisinin-resistance across the Greater Mekong Subregion. Expedited delivery of novel antimalarial drugs with different mechanisms of action to the clinical setting is still far off; therefore, it is crucial to improve the use of existing antimalarial drugs for optimal outcome in order to prolong their therapeutic life span. This thesis focuses on utilizing pharmacometric tools to support this effort for malaria prevention and treatment. An extensive simulation framework was used to explore alternative malaria chemopreventive dosing regimens of a commonly used ACT, dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine. Different monthly and weekly dosing regimens were evaluated and this allowed an understanding of the interplay between adherence, loading dose and malaria incidence. A weekly dosing regimen substantially improved the prevention effect and was less impacted by poor adherence. This is also expected to reduce selection pressure for development of resistance to piperaquine. Population pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamic models were developed for artesunate and the active metabolite dihydroartemisinin, effect on parasite clearance, in patients with artemisinin-resistant and -sensitive malaria infections in Southeast Asia. The modeling identified an association between parasite density and drug bioavailability. It predicted the presence of high levels of artemisinin resistant infection among patients in Cambodia and its spread into Myanmar. A nomogram to identify patients with artemisinin resistant infections was developed. Furthermore, the model was used to demonstrate the need for extended treatment duration to treat patients with artemisinin resistant infections. A population pharmacokinetic model developed from data on pregnant women in East Africa allowed further understanding of artemether-lumefantrine exposure in pregnant populations. It also suggested that the lumefantrine exposure in this population is not compromised. In summary, the results presented in this thesis demonstrate the value of pharmacometric approaches for improving antimalarial drug treatment and prevention. This ultimately contributes to overcoming the prevailing challenges to malaria control.

Využití Týdeníku pro rozvoj sociální a personální kompetence žáků v primární škole / Utilization of Weekly diary for developing personal competencies of primary school pupilsDenková, Veronika January 2016 (has links)
Diploma thesis Utilization of weekly diary for developing personal competences of primary school pupils deals with strategies of development of pupils' social and personal competences, namely with fulfilling the chosen goals of personal and social education in primary school. The theoretic part of my thesis proves the meaning of the goals of personal and social education and lists the possibilities of their realisation in primary school. The thesis is farther concerned with the development of the key competences with the help of personal and social education and its methods. I concentrate on the meaning of the individualisation in pupils' education and the means of the development of reflective skills in a heterogenous class. The empirical part is an teacher's action research in its character. It presents a description of an authentically created process of the introduction of Weekly diary method to the work of primary school pupils'. The purpose of Weekly diary is to help the development of pupils' skills of self-reflexion. Alongside it should support good climax in the class, make the pupil - teacher relationship closer and the individualised support of the pupils' learning process more effective. This thesis records the gradual development of Weekly diary, changing of its form and work with this...

Jaromír Hořec: život a dílo / Jaromír Hořec: life and workNovotný, Pavel January 2011 (has links)
This graduation thesis describes the personality of the Czech controversial poet, journalist, historian, pedagogue and writer Jaromír Hořec. He was born in Chust in present Ukraine. His original name was Jaromír Halhubner. The author of this study tries to collect the most important points of his life from the perspective of journalism. His life was full of opinion turns. The author tries to follow Horec's evolution of opinion over the course of his life. For one part of Czech society Jaromír Hořec was a demagogic leftist, hypocrite and opportunist, for another part Hořec was a major poet, writer and journalist. Both of these are somewhat true. The study tries to find answers for both opinion streams through the use of contemporary documents, the memories of witnesses and vocational literature.
