The professional technician deals with the needs of the national, regional and/or local development, stimulated for the growth of the industry due to new demands from national and international market, which require better qualification and competence in the productive process. The following dissertation, using the exploratory research, shows the behavior of the wood industry in São Bento do Sul region, between 2000 to 2004, for a samplig made in ten wood companies, two big ones (more than a thousand employees in 2004), and eight medium-size companies (between one hundred to 499 employees in 2004). It is noticed the significant growth of the technical staff, formed by engineers, technologists, and high-school technicians when compared to the total of the employees in this period, as well as the relation between the growth of the technical staff and the relative growth of the total sales, according to the year of 2000. It is confirmed for the companies involved, according to the businesspeople, which certain points connected to the production such as process improvement, productivity, quality, cost reduction, change in the products, time reduction of set-up, are influenced by the professional technician. / No Brasil, em conseqüência do avanço tecnológico, tem-se percebido a importância da educação profissional e tecnológica como estratégia para o estabelecimento da cidadania e para a efetiva inserção de jovens trabalhadores na sociedade. O profissional técnico atende às necessidades dedesenvolvimento nacional, regional e/ou local, tendo por estímulo o crescimento da indústria em função das novas demandas oriundas dos mercados nacionais e internacionais, que exigem maior qualificação e competência no processo produtivo. A presente dissertação, utilizando a pesquisa exploratória, apresenta o comportamento da indústria moveleira da região de São Bento do Sul,no intervalo de 2000 a 2004, para uma amostra composta por 10 (dez) empresas moveleiras, sendo 2 (duas) grandes empresas - mais de 1000 (mil) funcionários em 2004 - e 8 (oito) médias empresas -entre 100 (cem) e 499 (quatrocentos e noventa e nove) funcionários em 2004. Observa-se o crescimento significativo do corpo técnico formado por engenheiros, tecnólogos e técnicos de nível médio quando comparados ao total de funcionários neste período, bem como a relação entre o crescimento do corpo técnico e o crescimento relativo do faturamento, tendo como base o ano 2000. Constata-se para as empresas pesquisadas, na percepção dos empresários, que determinados indicadores ligados à produção como melhoria nos processos, na produtividade, na qualidade, na redução de custos, na mudança nos produtos, na diminuição de tempo de set-up, são influenciados pelo profissional técnico

Gröna försörjningskedjor bidrar till att företag tar bättre miljömässiga och hållbara beslut i sin verksamhet och tillsammans med ett välutvecklat ERP-system kan tillverkande företag bli mer konkurrenskraftiga. Digitalisering inom träindustrin sker inte i samma takt som utvecklingen av informationsteknologi, vilket innebär att branschen har en rad utmaningar kopplade till bland annat spårbarhet och utbyte av information.  Studiens syfte är att beskriva och förklara hur ERP-system kan stödja gröna försörjningskedjor inom träindustrin utifrån ett användarperspektiv. Studiens syfte besvaras med hjälp av en kvalitativ ansats där semistrukturerade intervjuer genomförts med 5 respondenter samt en dokumentanalys av två verksamheters hållbarhetsrapporter och observation på ett av företagens sågverk.  Utifrån en öppen kodning har studiens empiri framställts i tre övergripande teman vilka är, hållbarhet och miljö, spårbarhet och informationsdelning samt data och kvalitet i affärssystem. Företag inom träindustrin arbetar mot hållbar utveckling inom verksamheten, dels för att kunna besvara marknadens efterfrågan, dels för att bidra till Sveriges möjlighet att uppnå agenda 2030 och FN:s globala mål för hållbar utveckling. Respondenter vittnar om att det är svårt att jobba mot miljömålen i sin specifika roll och hur mycket de jobbar mot det sker i varierande utsträckning. Samtidigt saknas funktioner i systemen för att anställda ska kunna få de rapporter de är i behov av. Idag inhämtas information från olika system och det saknas integrationer mellan databaser och system. Visst arbete sker även med manuell handpåläggning och eller dokumenteras enbart i Excel. Det saknas även möjlighet att spåra produkter genom hela försörjningskedjan. Spårbarhet av certifikat framträder som särskilt viktigt för lyckat miljöarbete inom träindustrin, systemstöd för detta finns men enkelt stöd för spårbarhet genom hela kedjan saknas. Många olika system används idag vilket gör att fördelarna med ERP-system inte syns i det dagliga arbetet. Tillgång till information upplevs generellt som god medan tillvägagångssättet att hitta information kan förenklas. Integrationer mellan system såväl som förbättrad funktionalitet kopplat till rapporter och måluppföljning efterfrågas av användarna. Gröna försörjningskedjor stöds av de existerande systemen i viss utsträckning, studiens resultat tyder dock på att det finns utrymme för vidare utveckling för att uppnå ett bättre anpassat system baserat på användarnas behov

Today's markets are dynamic, which places increasingly high demands on companies' efficiency of processes and ability to adapt to changing situations. Inventory management includes all activities linked to the creation of customer orders ready for delivery, including stocking of goods, physical placement and picking of goods and assembly before delivery to the customer. The purpose of the study is to investigate the characteristics, challenges, and improvement potential for finished goods storage with the associated loading function within the wood industry. This qualitative case study has been carried out at a company within the wood industry in Sweden and data has been collected through interviews and observations to analyze and identify key aspects for effective warehouse management.  The results highlight the importance of leadership, commitment, and standardized working methods for the optimization of warehouse processes and increased productivity within the business. Through the application of lean principles such as kaizen and Genchi Genbutsu and the promotion of a positive work climate, wood companies can streamline their inventory management practices and improve their overall efficiency. The study draws attention to the fact that a combination of standardized working methods and guidelines, with the support of leadership and commitment, creates the conditions for making warehouse management more efficient in the long term.

Companies using limited resources suffer from not being able to secure material in different ways. Being a small enterprise also gives additional negative consequential effects. To be able to decrease the effects, working methods with solutions and key performance indicators need to be found. Smaller enterprises in the wood industry have been identified as actors suffering from the consequential effects. Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to identify negative consequential effects experienced by smaller enterprises regarding the securing of limited resources. In addition, the aim is to describe a working method with solutions and associated key performance indicators to counteract the consequential effects regarding the securing of limited resources. Research questions: RQ1: What consequences do smaller enterprises experience when securing limited material?RQ2: What solutions and key performance indicators can be applied to counteract identified consequential effects when securing limited material for smaller enterprises?Method: The paper uses a deductive approach while applying a qualitative research method with elements of quantitative data. The primary empirical data was collected by unstructured and semistructured interviews, observations and the in-depth method focus-group interviews. Results: The study shows multiple consequential effects of not being able to secure limited resources as a smaller enterprise. The three major findings were: uncertainty in supply, decreased purchasing power due to being a smaller enterprise in the industry, and being forced to import materials. The study finds working methods with solutions and associated key performance indicators to counteract each effect. With supply chain resilience the effects of uncertainty in supply decreases. The purchasing power could increase by developing supplier relationships or increase the purchase price. By outsourcing a part of or the whole production process the effects of being forced to import could be counteracted. Materialet i rapporten är 10% av det totala materialet som presenterats till SCA, de viktigaste resultaten redovisas i rapporten. Vid SCA:s sågverk Rundvik i Nordmaling finns en automatiserad emballeringsmaskin. Ingen bra anvisning för bruk/drift och underhåll för maskinen finns, vilket har gjort det svårt för personalen att hantera den. Syftet med detta arbete var att kartlägga maskinens delar, funktioner och därefter framta en bruksanvisning. Detta gjordes genom att först kartlägga placeringen av maskinens axlar samt dess funktioner. Därefter intervjuades personalen på hyvleriet för att reda ut svårigheter och problem med maskinen. En problemlösning som löser de mest förekommande felen har framställts. En underhållsplan har tagits fram för att underlätta underhåll av maskinen. En offert på en programuppdatering har skickats till maskinprogrammerare. En offert gällande en säkerhetsanordning till maskinen har skickats till maskintillverkare. Resultatet är en fullt användbar, enkelt läsbar bruksanvisning. Syftet har inte fullföljts helt då operatör inte hunnit testa instruktionerna. / The material in the report is 10% of the total material presented to SCA, the most important results are reported here. At SCA's sawmill Rundvik in Nordmaling, there is an automated packaging machine. There is no good user manual for use/operation and maintenance of the machine, which has made it difficult for the staff to handle it. The purpose of this work has been to map the machine's parts, functions and then produce a user manual. This was done by first mapping the location of the machine's axles and its functions. The staff at the planer were then interviewed to sort out difficulties and problems with the machine. A problem solution that solves the most common errors has been produced. A maintenance plan has been developed to facilitate maintenance of the machine. A quote for a software update has been sent to the machine programmer. A quote regarding a safety device for the machine has been sent to the machine manufacturer. The result is a fully usable, easy-to-read user manual. The purpose has not been fully fulfilled as the operator has not had time to test the instructions.
