Populismus v reprezentativní demokracii: Nebezpečí nebo nutný doplněk? / Populism in Representative Democracy: Jeopardy or Necessary Supplement

Bublík, Vojtěch January 2016 (has links)
(in English): Main goal of this diploma is to analyze the relationship between populism and representative democracy. The theoretical part of my work is researching populism as a vague concept and determining its minimal definition and esential constituents (I have declined the possibility that populism is only anti-essentialy formed attitude/phenomenon). In the analytical part I've studied the relationship between populism and representative democracy, and defined drawbacks of this uneasy coexistence. However I believe that representative democracy can't be successfully fulfiled without this phenomenon and I have also found not only positive moments of this relationship - I assume that populism is necessary supplement of representative democracy.

Vägen mot toppen - Ett golfproffs vardag

Wesslund, Marcus January 2020 (has links)

Optimization Method of Usability Test Process Based on User Requirements --- Taking E-commerce Application Software as an Example

Liu, Yu January 2020 (has links)
Context. During each iteration of the application, we need to test the usability of the application. Therefore, how to improve efficiency and test according to the user's real experience is a problem faced by the company. According to our preliminary research on the literature. In the past, the usability of software systems was evaluated subjectively and the process was not well defined [21]. Every usability evaluation method has its advantages and disadvantages. Some are difficult to apply, and others are dependent on the measurer's opinions or instruments [21]. Moreover, currently, there are few studies on usability testing for e-commerce applications. And there is a lack of a usability test optimization scheme suitable for e-commerce applications. Therefore, we choose this direction for research. Objectives. This paper aims to provide an optimization method for usability testing process based on user requirements for e-commerce applications existing in the market, so that enterprises can more effectively implement the usability testing process in the process of iterative update of applications. Methods. In order to find the answers to the research questions, we used Literature review and Survey to collect the data. In the Survey section, we used the Questionnaire and Interview methods. After the data collection is completed, we perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data and organize the research conclusions. Results. Through a literature review, we conducted a systematic review of the usability challenges in e-commerce applications and how to overcome them. And we found the research direction in this process. We use the questionnaire to obtain the usability requirements of respondents (also users of e-commerce applications) for e-commerce applications, and use our optimization method (EEC) to translate user's requirements into usability test script content. And according to the feedback of the respondents to determine the content priority. We used interviews to understand the priorities that companies follow when actually performing usability testing. And compare it with the priority of our script to verify the effectiveness of our method. Conclusions. We summarize relevant conclusions by finding answers to research questions. Finally, an optimization method for usability testing is summarized, which will help future testers better implement usability testing to a certain extent.

The Effects of Visual Style on Perceived Challenge

Berger Grönros, Viktor January 2020 (has links)
With a recent rise in popularity (and controversy) of challenging games, many have attempted to emulate their success. These games are commonly styled with dark, gritty and often surreal settings and characters. Beyond setting the tone, is there a measurable effect from these visual styles on the perception of challenge, and if so, what are those effects? This study looks at similar research and/or the fields visual style, and/or challenge in games to create a game with two distinct styles, from which as a result, a set of categories to better describe a visual style is proposed. The game is then used as an investigation into what to look for when testing for the impact of visual style on perceived challenge.

Academic Performance as a Predictor of Student Growth in Achievement and Mental Motivation During an Engineering Design Challenge in Engineering and Technology Education

Mentzer, Nathan 01 December 2008 (has links)
The purpose of this correlational research study was to determine if students’ academic success was correlated with: (a) the student change in achievement during an engineering design challenge; and (b) student change in mental motivation toward solving problems and critical thinking during an engineering design challenge. Multiple experimental studies have shown engineering design challenges increase student achievement and attitude toward learning, but conflicting evidence surrounded the impact on higher and lower academically achieving students. A high school classroom was chosen in which elements of engineering design were purposefully taught. Eleventh-grade student participants represented a diverse set of academic backgrounds (measured by grade point average [GPA]). Participants were measured in terms of achievement and mental motivation at three time points. Longitudinal multilevel modeling techniques were employed to identify significant predictors in achievement growth and mental motivation growth during the school year. Student achievement was significantly correlated with science GPA, but not math or communication GPA. Changes in achievement score over time are not significantly correlated with science, math, or communication. Mental motivation was measured by five subscales. Mental focus was correlated with math and science GPA. Mental focus increases over time were negatively correlated with science GPA, which indicated that the initial score differential (between higher and lower science GPA students) was decreased over time. Learning orientation and cognitive integrity were not correlated with GPA. Creative problem solving was correlated with science GPA, but gains over time were not correlated with GPA. Scholarly rigor was correlated with science GPA, but change over time was not correlated with GPA. (284 pages)

A comparative study of manually and remote-controlled valves in Dar es Salaam : Efficiency of remote-controlled water valves in water supply systems

Nilsson, Viktor, Serck, Ola January 2019 (has links)
Water is an essential resource for basic human survival, but today several cities and people lack access to both reliable and clean water. Dar es Salaam in Tanzania is undergoing a rapid population growth and need to improve their current water delivery system in order to provide water to the city’s inhabitants. This report’s objective is to examine if Dar es Salaam Water and Sewerage Authority (DAWASA) manual water valve operation is improved with the usage of remote-controlled valves instead. The remote-controlled system will consequently be evaluated and compared against the manually controlled valves. In order to obtain necessary data for this study interviews and field trips were conducted at DAWASA as well as at the local market at Kariakoo. Additionally, information has also been gathered from the collaboration partners at College of Information and Communication Technologies (CoICT). The results provided information that a remote-controlled system could, in the measured reference area of 52 km of water pipes, save up to 900 U.S dollar monthly and 46 m3 of water daily for DAWASA. These savings would consequently contribute to an increase in resources which leads to further improvements to the current water distribution system. Because, today’s system is in need of a development in order to sufficiently provide potable water to the city. The remote-controlled system could also help to reduce the spread of waterborne diseases, destruction of roads and create a more reliable source of water since the water valves would be regulated more efficiently. A remote-controlled system would however need a sufficient amount of funding in order to be installed, but is both simpler to install and a more feasible solution compared to other alternatives. For these reasons, the designed system is concluded to be a more effective, sustainable and economical feasible solution for handling and managing the outdated valves.

Understanding the Influence of Agency in Music on the Players’Experiences of Games and their Emotional Responses

Quintana, Daniel January 2023 (has links)
This study explores the role of agency and music agency in shaping players' experiences in video games. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzed the experiences of four participants who played a music-based video game. The results suggest that agency and music agency play a crucial role in shaping players' engagement, immersion, and emotional investment in the game. Participants reported that having control over the music in the game provided them with a sense of control and agency, contributing to a more immersive and enjoyable experience. However, the study also highlights the importance of balancing agency with the level of challenge presented in the game. While providing players with agency can enhance engagement and satisfaction, it may not necessarily increase the level of challenge in the game. The study offers insights into the complex interplay between agency, music agency, and challenges in shaping player experiences in video games. Overall, the study provides valuable contributions to the field of game design research, highlighting the importance of considering player agency and music agency in crafting engaging and satisfying gaming experiences.
