INvestigate and Analyse a City - INACITY / INvestigate and Analyse a City - INACITY

Artur André Almeida de Macedo Oliveira 23 April 2018 (has links)
This project presents a platform that integrates Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), image retrieval systems, Geographical Information Systems (GISes), digital maps and Computer Vision techniques to collect and analyse urban images. The platform, INACITY (an acronym for INvestigate and Analyse a City), empowers users allowing them to select a region over a map and see urban features inside that region that have relevance to the urban architecture context, for instance trees. The implementation is extensible and it is designed to make it easy to add or replace new modules, for instance, to add a new API to present a map, different GISes and other Computer Vision filters.

Among the goals, I try to identify through the web interface analysis, while visual image, as shown blog design Rio Etc by proposing a street fashion concept on the Internet. I seek to do so, to express how is the formation of a Technology Interactive Design; attentive to fashion's image as a mediating element between man and culture in the digital environment and point out the street-style as contemporary phenomenon in tribalisation of subjects inserted in the group that plans and produces photographic images to the blog (main content of posts Rio Etc) and portrays the street fashion as a lifestyle, and spread this idea over the internet through the blog tool. Based on this, the Comprehensive Sociology appears to support, in the Interdisciplinary methodology, the unfolding of man as a social being who participates in the cyberculture as a producer designs and puts them at the disposal of Internet users. In this qualitative research, we present an overview of images collected in Rio Etc blog over two years of research, focused on illustrative presentation of archived records in the blog since 2007 (rise of the Rio electronic diary), incorporating the text images that best could set the observed phenomena. I emphasize that the concept of street-style produced by Rio Etc does not include the capital in its territorial and economic diversity, but rather part of a cutout on the street fashion that moves specifically for the south of the city.

Political Astuteness in Project Management : Could Street Smart Project Management be an Additional Dimension?

Olsen, Magnus January 2021 (has links)
Abstract The early years as a project manager are full of dangers and there is high risk of getting scars that follow you throughout your career and life. This thesis is a first step to study political astuteness in the project management context. Experienced project managers have been interviewed and shared their perceptions of political astuteness in their role as project manager. The results are presented in four main themes; “The Character of Political Astuteness in Project Management Context”, “The Dirty Tricks”, “The Politically Astute Project Manager”, “The Street Smart Project Manager: Use the Force-The Sensing”. The first main finding is that the results of this study are aligned with previous research around political astuteness in public service manager context, and existing frameworks could be applied in future research. The second is that results show similarities with the phenomenon street smart and further research could make contributions when developing future individual baselines in professional project management organisations. The third is the findings around intuition and sensing which is not explored and can have great value for future development of project management if investigated further. The fourth is that diverse, complex, and multicultural context is perceived as the main source for development of political astuteness for project managers. Resultaten presenteras i fyra huvudteman; "Karaktären av Politisk Skicklighet I Projektledningskontext”, "De Fula Tricken", "Den Politiskt Skickliga Projektledaren", "Den Street Smarta Projektledaren: Använd kraften - Kännandet". Nyckelord: Projektledning, Politisk skicklighet, Politiska färdigheter, Street smart

Icelandic street art. An analysis of the formation and development.

Rose, Joanna Zofia 08 September 2020 (has links)
This thesis aims to form the basis of research on the Icelandic street art by detailing the main events that spurred the development of this art movement and by describing the key factors that shaped the evolution of this artistic movement in Iceland and the societal reaction towards it. The presented theoretical material aims to enable discussion on street art substance in this one particular country, taking into consideration the scope of definitions applied in international street art research. While regarding already existing studies on this artistic movement in other countries, this thesis presents the local specifics in order to highlight the differences in artistic and social approach. The topic was chosen due to personal interests that grew expansively while the author was living in Iceland. The possibilities to directly observe the evolving contemporary art scene and participate in the ongoing changes served as a factual basis for further research. Author noticed the sizeable gap in the research on Icelandic art, especially available to international academic forums. Moreover, there has been no previously conducted research on Icelandic street art, and, to date, only limited study on Icelandic contemporary art is available. Another factor for the choice of theme was the particular interest in the contemporary artistic movements that raise the question of applicable art definitions and hence also the scope of research, which demands a multidisciplinary approach. Street art, as a dynamic socio – artistic movement, encompasses such an approach and challenges the researchers to apply various methods of art history, combined with sociological approach, in order to conduct research on graffiti, street art or broader urban creativity. Due to the ambivalent nature of street art as well as the possible legal consequences it carries, accessing the functional sources for academic purposes is crucial. This study involves materials obtained direct in local research, through interviews and field work but also municipal documentation and information provided in domestic press and social media. It seemed essential to present the most important occurrences in local political and social history and to summarize the factors that allowed the formation and development of Icelandic street art. Due to the pioneering element of the study, the monography of the movement seemed more appropriate than a detailed analysis of particular artworks or artists’ biographies adopting methodologies designed for the history of art.:PART I Theory 1. Norrtullsgatan living street : A public life investigation and design proposal / Norrtullsgatan en levande gata : Ett gestaltningsförslag och ett undersökande av offentligt liv

Rivas Plaza, Veronica January 2021 (has links)
‘Norrtullsgatan Living Street’ is a public life investigation and design proposal to increase accessibility and attractiveness for people along Norrtullsgatan in Vasastaden, Stockholm. It is a response to the Levande Stockholm Programme, an urban place-making strategy to test potential pedestrian streets by restricting traffic and introducing pop-up furniture during the summer and winter months to create pedestrian-friendly environments. Vasastaden is located North of the city center with the major public transport hub of Odenplan and a significant number of people walking along its narrow sidewalks towards Drottninggatan. This area is an important pedestrian zone that connects the city center to other parts of Stockholm with great potential to activate already existing public spaces and create a network of livable streets. This thesis aims to investigate possible long-term strategies based on public life studies, a comprehensive street analysis, and urban place-making interventions that focus on pedestrians, cyclists, and the experience at the street level to create a ‘living street’. This project wants to strengthen and highlight the benefits of walking not only as a choice of mobility but also as a social, economic, and well-being outcome for the city. Moreover, it instigates further the concept of what makes a walkable city. People want to feel comfortable and safe during their walk but they also want to have a pleasurable experience. Urban design qualities, by all means, influence those choices. By following the evaluation of the temporary design during the summer and winter streets, this project re-assess those strategies to proposed permanent design to promote inclusive public spaces. As a result, this thesis emphasizes the importance of design strategies that are well-integrated into a community by taking into consideration site-specific conditions and users. At the same time, it hopes to contribute with input to the already tested pedestrian zones to become meeting places with rich content, high urban qualities, and a strong identity.

Radnice Brno – Sever / New town hall for the district Brno-North

Kaděra, Petr January 2015 (has links)
This Master's thesis project decribes the new town hall for the district of Brno-north. The proposal is based on an idea of an intersection of two elementary solids. The room layout is similar to the concept and is divided into a part for state administration and a part for self-government. The building also consists of a conference hall and a cafe in which the cultural events can take place. The architecture solution is barrierless with regard to the principles of sustainable development.
