Duzzo, Flávia De Lima January 2014 (has links)
This study investigates the issue of the absent in drawing. lt was intended to verify if the absence in drawing would compose it in the same way that an area that receives repetitive entries ar sequential interventions. lt investigates to which extent the acting of erasing can be considerate as an investment in the construction of a work. Referenced in my production I deepen the instances: non drawing areas, erasing areas and wear areas of inscription. From poetic's percept in René Passeron's approach and by the contribution of Formativity Theory from Luigi Pareyson, I developed an analysis of my work's production that result from repetitive and automated actions considering aspects as: manual activity the types of gestures, the choice of material and the passage of time, the material choice and the time passage. The theories presented by the philosophers Flusser and Focillon about gestures, as well as Gilles Deleuze's concepts on difference and repetition are referenced in the research. The gaps, the withdraw of matter and the blurred that happen in the drawings affect the body's support. Relating to this topic, Jacques Derrida presents important insights regarding the presence of support in painting, drawing and writing. The references to Roland Barthes are important for this study when using the term event to analyze the relationship of the artist and the work that is conceived as a scene in where something ensues. This work searches through the intersection of theoretical contributions mentioned, to obtain an analytical tool to think about the absence in the drawing as a possible instance.

The Relationship Between Cardiorespiratory Fitness and Bmi, Depressive Symptoms, and School Absences Among a Racial/ethnically Diverse Sample of Early Adolescents

Garza, Mariana 05 1900 (has links)
The current study examined the relationship between cardiorespiratory fitness on differences by sex, race/ethnicity, and SES on BMI, depressive symptoms, and school absences among adolescents. a cross-sectional study was conducted in a north Texas school district, which included 609 Caucasian/Whites, 293 Hispanic/Latinos, and 113 African-American/Black adolescents (10-14 years). Main results of the study showed that that cardiorespiratory fitness was the largest predictor of BMI, followed by race/ethnicity, and then sex. Cardiorespiratory fitness among adolescents was inversely associated with BMI. the relationship between cardiorespiratory fitness on BMI appeared to be more salient for non-Hispanic white females and non-Hispanic black females in that the former group had lower BMI scores than the latter group when cardiorespiratory fitness was taken into account; however, results showed that non-Hispanic white females and non-Hispanic black females had similar cardiorespiratory fitness level. Other results showed that SES and sex predicted depressive symptoms in that low SES females endorsed more depressive symptoms relative to high SES males; however, this relationship was non-existent when cardiorespiratory fitness was entered into the model. Additionally, findings indicated that BMI and depressive symptoms equally predicted school absences in that adolescents who had a higher BMI and endorsed more depressive symptoms had more school absences.

At-Risk Indicators: The Impact on School Success.

Stewart, Lisa Wynn 08 May 2010 (has links) (PDF)
The hope of educators is that children will obtain a strong educational foundation that will lead to life-long learning and a bright future. However, several factors may play a role in hindering a successful outcome. Addressing the at-risk indicators of excessive absences, discipline referrals, socioeconomic status, disability status, early grade retention, and family composition gives insight into struggles students face. Looking at 6 research questions, an independent sample t test was used to determine the difference in students who had excessive absences and discipline referrals in relation to school success. A chi-square analysis was used to identify the relationship between socioeconomic status, disability status, family composition, early grade retention, and school success. Results of the study suggested that there was a significant negative relationship between school success and poor attendance and with discipline referrals. Socioeconomic status was not significant when looking at school success. The study showed that students eligible for free and reduced price meals program had nearly the same chance for school success as students who were not eligible for free and reduced price meals program. Disability status and grade retention were not significant factors in school success. Students who lived in a nontraditional family were not at risk for school failure.

Knowledge based system implementation for lean process in low volume automotive manufacturing (LVAM) with reference to process manufacturing

Mohamed, N.M.Z.Nik, Khan, M. Khurshid 04 August 2011 (has links)
Yes / Global manufacturing industry mostly depends on new product development and processes to become competitive. The product development process for automotive industry is normally complicated, lengthy, expensive, and risky. Hence, a study of lean manufacturing processes for low volume manufacturing in automotive industry is proposed to overcome this issue by eliminating all wastes in the lengthy process. This paper presents a conceptual design approach to the development of a hybrid Knowledge Based (KB) system for lean process in Low Volume Automotive Manufacturing (LVAM). The research concentrates on the low volume processes by using a hybrid KB system, which is a blend of KB system and Gauging Absences of Pre-requisites (GAP). The hybrid KB/GAP system identifies all potential waste elements of low volume process manufacturing. The KB system analyses the difference between the existing and the benchmark standards for lean process for an effective implementation through the GAP analysis technique. The proposed model explores three major lean process components, namely Employee Involvement, Waste Elimination, and Kaizen (continuous improvement). These three components provide valuable information in order for decision makers to design and implement an optimised low volume manufacturing process, but which can be applied in all process manufacturing, including chemical processing.

"Hemmakämpare" : En kvalitativ studie om tvärprofessionell samverkan i arbetet med hemmasittande barn och ungdomar

Gårdefelt, Terese, Gabrielsson, Alexandra, Ernebrink, Saga January 2023 (has links)
Homesitters is a relatively new phenomenon that includes children and young people who isolate themselves at home and for various reasons are unable to go to school. The aim of the study is to gain an understanding of the cross-professional cooperation between school, children’s psychiatry, and social services in the work with homesitters. This by describing and analyzing the professionals' experiences of room for action within the framework of cooperation. This is a qualitative study where the empirical material is based on seven semi-structured interviews. The results show that the professionals' room for action challenges the collaboration between the operations. Factors that limit cooperation are the flexibility of the room for action, time frame, confidentiality, and unclear division of responsibilities. The result shows limitations with the fact that homesitters are a new phenomenon which leads to that there is not, yet any worked out template for homesitters to handle. Communication between the actors is required, which the results show today is deficient. Finally, it leads to today's homesitters suffering from long waiting times and limited customized interventions.

Comparing Job Satisfaction Between Certified and Noncertified Substitute Teachers

Schkolenko, Katie 01 January 2018 (has links)
A rural, mid-sized district is experiencing great difficulty in the recruitment and retention of substitute teachers despite increased recruitment efforts. Such difficulty has resulted in numerous disruptions to the educational process. Despite their integral role in the educational process, research on substitute teachers remains absent from the literature. The purpose of this quantitative study was to assess the job satisfaction of substitute teachers with regard to differences between the two subgroups of certified and noncertified substitute teachers. This study was based on the two-factor theory. The research questions addressed the overall job satisfaction of substitute teachers, whether teacher job satisfaction (DV) differed by subgroup membership (IV), and the motivation and hygiene factors of substitute teaching. Survey data collection involved a cluster sampling of substitute teachers (N = 315, n = 51) working in four rural school districts experiencing shortages. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and thematic analysis. Demographic subgroups that reported above average job satisfaction were females, those with 1-3 years of experience, and those with the highest level of education being a bachelor's degree. The analysis uncovered a statistically significant difference between noncertified and certified substitute teachers only in the subcategory of satisfaction with pay, with certified substitute teachers being less satisfied. The most commonly reported motivation factors were the students, coworkers, and the nature of work; the most commonly reported hygiene factors were pay, student behavior, and communication. The study contributes to social change by identifying dissatisfying aspects of substitute teaching so that administrations may take action to alleviate the shortage, providing students with improved educational experiences with substitute teachers.

The development of a hybrid knowledge-based Collaborative Lean Manufacturing Management (CLMM) system for an automotive manufacturing environment: The development of a hybrid Knowledge-Based (KB)/ Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)/ Gauging Absences of Pre-Requisites (GAP) Approach to the design of a Collaborative Lean Manufacturing Management (CLMM) system for an automotive manufacturing environment.

Moud Nawawi, Mohd Kamal January 2009 (has links)
The automotive manufacturing facility is extremely complex and expensive system. Managing and understanding the dynamics of automotive manufacturing is a challenging endeavour. In the current era of dynamic global competition, a new concept such as Collaborative Lean Manufacturing Management (CLMM) can be implemented as an alternative for organisations to improve their Lean Manufacturing Management (LMM) processes. All members in the CLMM value chain must work together towards common objectives in order to make the LMM achievable in the collaborative environment. The novel research approach emphasises the use of Knowledge-Based (KB) approach in such activities as planning, designing, assessing and providing recommendations of CLMM implementation, through: a) developing the conceptual CLMM model; b) designing the KBCLMM System structure based on the conceptual model; and c) implementing Gauging Absences of Pre-requisites (GAP) analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach in the hybrid KBCLMM. The development of KBCLMM Model is the most detailed part in the research process and consists of five major components in two stages. Stage 1 (Planning stage) consists of Organisation Environment, Collaborative Business and Lean Manufacturing components. Stage 2 (Design stage) consists of Organisation CLMM Capability and Organisation CLMM Alignment components. Each of these components consists of sub-components and activities that represent particular issues in the CLMM development. From the conceptual model, all components were transformed into the KBCLMM System structure, which is embedded with the GAP and AHP techniques, and thus, key areas of potential improvement in the LMM are identified for each activity along with the identification of both qualitative and quantitative aspects for CLMM implementation. In order to address the real situation of CLMM operation, the research validation was conducted for an automotive manufacturer¿s Lean Manufacturing Chain in Malaysia. Published case studies were also used to test several modules for their validity and reliability. This research concludes that the developed KBCLMM System is an appropriate Decision Support System tool to provide the opportunity for academics and industrialists from the fields of industrial engineering, information technology, and operation management to plan, design and implement LMM for a collaborative environment. / Universiti Utara Malaysia and Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia

The development of a hybrid knowledge-based system for designing a low volume automotive manufacturing environment : the development of a hybrid knowledge-based (KB)/gauging absences of pre-requisites (GAP)/analytic hierarchy process (AHP) system for the design and implementation of a low volume automotive manufacturing (LVAM) environment

Mohamed, N. M. Z. Nik January 2012 (has links)
The product development process for the automotive industry is normally complicated, lengthy, expensive, and risky. Hence, a study on a new concept for Low Volume Automotive Manufacturing (LVAM), used for niche car models manufacturing, is proposed to overcome this issue. The development of a hybrid Knowledge Based (KB) System, which is a blend of KB System, Gauging Absences of Pre-requisites (GAP), and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is proposed for LVAM research. The hybrid KB/GAP/AHP System identifies all potential elements of LVAM issues throughout the development of this system. The KB System used in the LVAM analyses the gap between the existing and the benchmark organisations for an effective implementation. The novelty and differences in the current research approach emphasises the use of Knowledge Based (KB) System in the planning and designing stages by suggesting recommendations of LVAM implementation, through: a) developing the conceptual LVAM model; b) designing the KBLVAM System structure based on the conceptual LVAM model; and c) embedding Gauging Absences of Pre-requisites (GAP) analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach in the hybrid KBLVAM System. The KBLVAM Model explores five major perspectives in two stages. Planning Stage (Stage 1) consists of Manufacturer Environment Perspective (Level 0), LVAM Manufacturer Business Perspective (Level 1), and LVAM Manufacturer Resource Perspective (Level 2). Design Stage (Stage 2) consists of LVAM Manufacturer Capability - Car Body Part Manufacturing Perspective (Level 3), LVAM Manufacturer Capability - Competitive Priorities Perspective (Level 4), and LVAM Manufacturer Capability - Lean Process Optimisation Perspective (Level 5). Each of these perspectives consists of modules and sub-modules that represent specific subjects in the LVAM development. Based on the conceptual LVAM model, all perspectives were transformed into the KBLVAM System structure, which is embedded with the GAP and AHP techniques, hence, key areas of potential improvement are recommended for each activity for LVAM implementation. In order to be able to address the real situation of LVAM environment, the research verification was conducted for two automotive manufacturers in Malaysia. Some published case studies were also used to check several modules for their validity and reliability. This research concludes that the developed KBLVAM System provides valuable decision making information and knowledge to assist LVAM practitioners to plan, design and implement LVAM in terms of business organisation, manufacturing aspects and practices.

This study explores like the different inter-relations between the fields of knowledge of the communication and of the education, which are shaped in so called a field of the educommunicacion, can favor the process of cooperative education, promoting the development of the cooperativism and of the philosophy of the cooperation.
