Hansson, Adam, Alkabi, Mortada January 2023 (has links)
Previous research suggests that digital conversations and physical conversations do not have the same effect. During the covid-19 pandemic, socialworkers at a treatment unit in southern Sweden had to change their physical calls to digital ones due to restrictions and new guidelines. The transition to digital conversations brought with it consequences according to social workers who also expressed that they experienced stress in a different way during the covid-19 pandemic. We will present the consequences of the transition to digital conversations and the work-related stress in this study. The purpose of the study is to present how social counselors feel that digitization in the workplace in connection with the covid-19 pandemic has affected conversation therapy with clients and how social counselors at the treatment unit experienced stress during the pandemic. In our work, we have used a qualitative research method and the selection in our study has been targeted. The data collected consists of semi-structured interviews that were recorded, transcribed and then analyzed by us students. In the essay, we have applied the theories of symbolic interactionism and demand and control model in order to provide a deeper understanding of what lies behind the difference between digital conversations and physical conversations and factors behind stress. The results of the study have shown that all the social counselors who participated felt that the transition to digital conversation treatment led to a worse treatment result for the clients. Some factors mentioned are difficulties in forming an alliance with the client, pooreropportunities to discover if clients are under the influence of drugs or alcohol and poorer conditions for reading body language. According to social advisors, a slightly higher level of stress was experienced compared to before the pandemic and that constant changes in guidelines contributed to a new form of stress that they had not experienced before.

Evaluace modelu a konceptu rehabilitace v kontextu doléčovacího (ambulantního) programu vycházejícího z Apolinářského modelu léčby závislostí na Klinice Adiktologie / Evaluation of the model and concept of rehabilitation in the context of an after-care (outpatient) program based on the Apolinář model of addiction treatment at the Department of Addictology

Adamíková, Žaneta January 2021 (has links)
Background: The definition and concept of the rehabilitation differs across disciplines. However, the goals of comprehensive rehabilitation, as defined in the literature, could not be fully achieved without multidisciplinary cooperation, through which it is possible to apply a wider range of interventions, which is an important indicator in addiction treatment. The cooperation between individual fields has the potential not only in better quality care towards the target group, but it is also important to consider the possibility of better financing of care, which could lead to greater satisfaction of both users and service providers. Objectives: This diploma thesis seeks the interrelationships between theory and concept of rehabilitation in addictology, respectively in the aftercare program based on the Apolinar model of addiction treatment, and rehabilitation in physiotherapy - in terms of both theoretical anchoring and implementation of rehabilitation in practice. The objective was to map and evaluate the content of rehabilitation applied in the outpatient form of the after-care program in the women's and men's ward of substance abuse treatment at the Department of Addictology, which is based on the Apolinar model of addiction treatment. Finally, the aim was to assess how a physiotherapist could...

LVM och motivationsarbete : Från klientens perspektiv / Swedish coerced addiction treatment and motivational work : From the clients perspective

Österberg, Emma, Samnegård, Marie January 2021 (has links)
With this bachelor thesis we want to research the correlation between motivation and coerced addiction treatment among clients. We want to know more about what the clients think about coerced addiction treatment, what possibilities there are to create motivation to change and what the clients experiences of the motivational work is. Coerced addiction treatment has been a part of Swedish history for a long time. Even though it has changed over the years there is still the question regarding how ethical it is and also whether coerced treatment is the most effective way to help people with an addiction problem. When a person is taken against their will to enter addiction treatment it is most likely done as a last resort trying to save a life. There are no written guidelines on how each treatment-institution should work regarding treatment and motivation, it is up to every single institution itself to decide. To get a better understanding of this we have done a literature study of two doctoral dissertations that has focused on clients opinion regarding coerced treatment and motivational work. Our findings showed us that motivation during coerced treatment is very complex because there are a number of factors that play important roles. Even though the opinion from the clients regarding their own coerced treatment and the motivational work at LVM-institutions varied, it gave us the understanding that there needs to be change. There needs to be more research on how to best help and support people with addiction problems during coerced treatment.

Hultén Sandeheim, Jonna January 2011 (has links)

A Critical Analysis of Drug Courts

Lin, Jun Ru Unknown Date (has links)
Drug Courts that have risen from development in the United States have had a gradual influence on the rest of the world, and have even been amended into Taiwanese law. This has been an important issue in recent discussions of criminal policy. In order to understand Drug Courts in detail, this article first introduces the background and the contents of the system, and then explores historical causes and reform dilemmas. It then analyzes the issue from the perspective of institutional structure and procedural legal principles. To then focus the issue back on Taiwan, on the basis of understanding the current state of practice through empirical data, a comparative study of the context of reform and institutional issues is conducted. Finally, this article will attempt to put forward a proposal for an evaluation from the perspective of criminal policy as a strategy for dealing with drug addicts in Taiwan. Within its jurisdiction, the Drug Court will avoid applying penalties to drug users, and instead adopt attitudes and methods that focus on meticulous and multi-faceted methods that promote participation in treatment. At the same time, they also punish or reward based on performance, carry out strict supervision aimed at strengthening requirements and treatment obligations, and deepen the contradiction between the identity of patients and prisoners among drug users. On the other hand, the transition of procedures to collaboration, case-director orientation, and problem solving is different from confrontation, case-orientation, and truth discovery. In this regard, it is important to reflect on the problems with the system and the choice of values of the criminal policy seen behind them.

Second Chance Recovery Centre : the experiences of caregivers of Nyaope addicts

Mokutu, Kgothatso Selloane Lydia 12 1900 (has links)
Background: Drug rehabilitation is crucial for drug addicts. As much as drug rehabilitation (rehab) centres are helping in dealing with drug addiction. Some drug addicts may find that some of the drug rehabs do not meet their needs. Therefore, the study explored the experience of caregivers caring for nyaope addicts. Method: This study adopted a qualitative research approach and a case study design. The purposive sampling method was employed to select the sample. The sample comprised six caregivers. The structured interview and open-ended questionnaire were employed to collect data. An interview questionnaire was designed allowing the participants to respond at home and provide feedback. Their responses provided through this process were insufficient, participants were then requested face-to-face interviews and they agreed. Results: One of the main findings in this study was that caregiving affects the caregivers negatively. Caregiving has led to psychological and physical effects amongst the caregivers. Conclusion: A need was identified for support and awareness for the caregivers and rehabilitation centres in South Africa. This might reduce the relapse of substance abuse and help eradicate the number of substance abusers in South Africa. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology (Research Consultation))

Exploring the experiences of chemically addicted adolescents regarding relapsing after treatment

Van der Westhuizen, Marichen Ann 30 November 2007 (has links)
Against the background of an increase in the demands for treatment of adolescent chemical addiction, as well as the persistently high relapse rate, the significant impact on the development and well-being of chemically addicted adolescents needs to be considered by the social work profession, in order to plan effective intervention strategies. The purpose of this research study was to explore and describe the experiences of chemically addicted adolescents who had relapsed after in-patient treatment. Subsequently, the researcher aimed to generate guidelines and recommendations for social workers, in order to prevent relapse. A qualitative research approach was employed. The researcher made use of descriptive, exploratory and contextual research designs. The study was conducted at adolescent in-patient treatment centres in the Western Cape, South Africa. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews. Interviews were tape-recorded and transcribed, and field notes were taken to record the data. The sample selected from the population of chemically addicted adolescents in the Western Cape who relapsed after in-patient treatment was selected through the purposive sampling technique. Tesch's framework for data analysis (in Creswell, 2003) was employed, and data verification was conducted through Guba's model (in Krefting, 1991:214-222). The research results, concluding guidelines and recommendations are being disseminated by means of this written report. / Social Work / M. Diac. (Social Work)
