We present the investigation of folk knowledge for the manufacture of homemade candies as a possibility of a STS (Science - Technology - Society) approach. We aim to understand how science and technology influenced the folk knowledge of homemade candy associates AGROJUF (Rural Family Agribusiness Manufacturers Association of Juiz de Fora) and how this process took place. From the possible changes of the handmade process influenced by the development of science and technology and placed under Brazilian law, we study the inclusion of folk knowledge in the classroom, covering in addition to the scientific aspects of the processes, the ways in which science, technology and society relate. Theoretically, this study fits in the researches made in Brazil which have as object the folk knowledge and their connections to science teaching scenario. Through literature review we found that there are few studies in the teaching of sciences that propose the rescue and recovery the folk knowledge and we detected the need to address the contradictions and transformations in the investigated knowledge. Supported by the theoretical and methodological framework of the French line Discourse Analysis, we conducted semi-structured interviews with five producers of homemade candies in the referred region to the constitution of the corpus analysis. As conditions to the interviews, the producers must participate in a Producers Association which includes the supervision of a technician connected to EMATER responsible for regularizing manufacturing processes. The respondents use recipes handed down through the generations and shared between group members and constitute a holder group of folk knowledge. We observed that science and technology influence the knowledge of interviewed, sometimes adding new tools and procedures, now serving as the basis for determining hygienists parameters for production, culminating in the withdrawal of some producers. Although the producers deem important scientific-technological and legal adjustments for product quality, their incorporation is also the result of the balance of power established between producers and the technicians, spokesperson of knowledge supported by the discourse of science, which conveys a institutionalized, legitimate, and therefore correct knowledge that must be accepted. The inclusion of such knowledge in the classroom allows observing how science, technology and society are related, as the scientific-technological and legal adaptations come as a result of the development of science and technology, changing considerably the knowledge of the investigated group.

Evaluating the implementation of the reading and writing instruction programme in the foundation phase of Lobethal Circuit in Sekhukhune

Maphutha, Maphale Juliah January 2018 (has links)
Thesis (M. Ed.) -- University of Limpopo, 2018 / The importance of programme evaluation is acknowledged by many authors. However, less emphasis is given to understanding programme implementation (Duttweiller & Dayton, 2009; HSRC: South African National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2012; Romm and Dichaba, 2015). Simply assessing a programme impact without a clear understanding of the degree to which the programme was actually implemented can result in inaccurate findings. The effective evaluation of both programme impacts and implementation can provide a more holistic perspective of programmes and an increased ability to identify and share best practices or weaknesses of programmes (Duerden and Witt, 2012). The purpose of this study was to evaluate the implementation of the Reading and Writing Instruction Programme (RWIP) in two primary schools situated in Lobethal Circuit. A qualitative approach was adopted using a case study design. Data collection was done through observations, interviews and documents analysis. A thematic approach was used to analyse the data while conclusions were drawn based on the themes that emerged during data collection and analysis. The results of the study indicate that there is implementation of the RWI programme. However, schools differ on how they apply the strategies that are outlined in the programme. The study recommends that there should be strong collaborations between Room to Read, schools, communities, circuit, district and provincial offices so that everyone understands the key components/elements of the Reading and Writing Instruction (RWI) Programme and how to apply them.

Souza, Iranéia Loiola de 11 April 2007 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-28T19:34:11Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Iraneia L Souza.pdf: 2326962 bytes, checksum: 4015e90be8a50a98d30f019f1bab9d9c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2007-04-11 / This research, under the perspective of SARESP test, analyses the main reasons that make students from Basic Education have difficulties in understanding inferences. Based in two targets, this research tries to verify what the approaching conferred by SARESP to the questions shows about reading ability and analyze how this evaluation approaches the texts and watches the questions that verify the inferences. The main question focuses in how the texts and questions presented in SARESP test verify the ability of inference from implicit information, and what it means in relation to reading ability required by this evaluation related to the analyzed ability. The corpus of this research is composed by texts and questions which focuses the ability of inferring implicit information from a text in SARESP evaluation, referring to the years of 2003 and 2004. The result of this research reveals that the difficulties present by the students related to the reading ability concerned to the deduction process aren t exclusively students responsibility. The way that the test is structured and the way the texts are proposed and questions developed also interfere negatively in reading ability, concerning to the inference process / Esta pesquisa, sob a perspectiva da prova do SARESP, trata da análise dos possíveis motivos que levam alunos do ensino fundamental a apresentar dificuldades no entendimento de inferências.

Modèles variationnels dynamique et hybride pour la simulation numérique d'écoulements turbulents / Dynamic and hybrid variational models for the simulation of turbulent flows

Moussaed, Carine 18 December 2013 (has links)
This work is a contribution to the numerical simulation of turbulent flows with the aim of industrial application. At first, we focus on a new combination "VMS-LES/dynamic procedure" for the simulation of flows around circular and square cylinders. The VMS-LES approach adopted in this work is original in using an averaging procedure over agglomerated finite volumes in order to separate the scales, the dynamic approach being the one introduced by Germano in LES. A RANS/VMS-LES hybrid approach is then evaluated on the circular cylinder test case at high Reynolds numbers. This approach introduces a hybridization parameter which privileges the RANS model or the VMS-LES model according to the grid resolution. Finally, the performance of a two-level Schwarz algorithm, which uses the deflation and balancing methods, are examined in terms of efficiency and scalability in the context of VMS-LES simulations.

An explorative study of the technology transfer coach as a preliminary for the design of a computer aid

Jönsson, Oscar January 2014 (has links)
The university technology transfer coach has an important role in supporting the commercialization of research results. This thesis has studied the technology transfer coach and their needs in the coaching process. The goal has been to investigate information needs of the technology transfer coach as a preliminary for the design of computer aids.Using a grounded theory approach, we interviewed 17 coaches working in the Swedish technology transfer environment. Extracted quotes from interviews were openly coded and categorized. The analysis show three main problem areas related to the information needs of the technology transfer coach; awareness, communication, and resources. Moreover, 20 features for future computer aids were extracted from the interview data and scenarios and personas where developed to exemplify the future use of computer aids.We conclude that there is a need for computer support in the coaching process. Such systems should aid the coach in; awareness, aiding the coach to focus on meetings; communication, aid the coach to transfer commercialisation knowledge; and resources, aid the coach in accessing and delivering of resources to the coachee. However, it is imperative that the computer aids do not interfere with the coach current process; and that the computer aid is not seen as the sole solution.

Společná zahraniční a bezpečnostní politika EU - právní aspekty / Common foreign and security policy of the EU - legal aspects.

Haugvic, Radek January 2016 (has links)
Topic of this diploma work is Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) - legal aspects. CFSP is one of policie sof EU based on intergovermental cooperation in foreign relations and defence policy which includes Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). The second part of the diploma work describes history of CFSP from WW 2 to describing of Treaty on European Union (TEU). The third part of diploma work describe CFSP of EU in TEU from 90's to current wording. Main topics are instruments and institutions and voting procedure. Marginally I write something about Common Commercial Policy and Cooperation with Third States in the fourth part of diploma work. The last part of diploma work is about the CSDP and EU millitary and civil missions. The content of the work is about CFSP and related issues, therefore I write the basic information about CFSP below. CFSP (as Europian polical cooperation) was established in 70's in last century by member's states for cooperation in foreign policy. In 1992 CFSP was incorporated in TEU and built as authority of Union in second pillar. CFSP was novelised by Amsterdam Treaty and Nice Treaty and Lisbon Treaty as last novelisation. Today is cancelled the Three Pillar structure and CFSP is classified in other external action of EU. Treatment of external action is divided between...
