Hardcore jako kritická perspektiva / Hardcore as a critical perspective

Pokorný, Lukáš January 2015 (has links)
This work deals with ideological trends in Czech hardcore scene. In the theoretical part it reflects the historical development of concept of subcultures from the beginning until now. Following with an explanation why it is preferable to describe hardcore with the concept of the scene. The next chapter is dedicated to the history of hardcore and tries to explain the specific ethos of the times in which hardcore was born. It also serves as a contextualization of the whole phenomena. The empirical part focuses on specific themes of hardcore ideology in Czech environment without losing sight of their roles in the past. This method tries to present hardcore more like a process than some closed phenomena stuck in time. The evolution and reflection of individual themes is important if hardcore should still be considered relevant, and thus critical and able to perceive social processes. Hardcore has started as a certain reaction to reflect the era and these characteristics are considered its roots. It was not a homogenous movement, and still is not to this day. We need to be well versed in hardcore to see its potential as a critique of the society, and the concept of "the little underground" provides a good starting point. Key words hardcore, punk, ideology, subculture, scene, society, identity,...

Barokáři - historicky poučená interpretace staré hudby v Česku očima jejích aktérů / "Barokáři" - Historically Informed Performance in the Czech Republic Through the Eyes of Its Interpreters

Vacek, Přemysl January 2020 (has links)
In this thesis I present a community of musicians dealing with a specific approach to music of older styles - historically informed performances (HIP). The aim is to answer the question as to why these promising classically educated musicians decided to leave the traditional career path in their field and chose alternative musical expression. I follow the rise and development of the professional scene of historically informed performances and its community from the turn of the 80s and 90s of the 20th century to the present day. Based on the analysis and interpretation of oral historical interviews, I describe changes in this environment and subsequent reflection on the perception of the profession and lives of the actors. I focus on their individual perceptions of authenticity and historical time, formed by their incorporation in early music.

Discrimination des fruits issus de l’agriculture biologique par analyse comparative de leurs communautés microbiennes / Discrimination of organic fruits by comparative analysis of their microbial communities

Bigot, Céline 21 October 2015 (has links)
Globalization of trades and industrialization of food have increased the occurrence of food fraud. Cases of food contamination now have a global impact and lead to far-reaching consequences both on the economy and the health of consumers (Cubero-Leon et al., 2014). Thus, fraud and authentication became important topics in the food sector. Especially as food frauds are becoming more sophisticated to bypass controls and are therefore more difficult to detect by classical approaches. Organic foods are part of foods that are the most likely to be subject of fraud. But traceability of foods is mainly performed by administrative means (UE Regulation 178/2002). That is why it is necessary to resort advanced analytical techniques to detect non-compliant products and to ensure traceability and authentication of foods, including those from organic agriculture. Our study is based on the hypothesis that treatments associated to various farming types have a measurable impact on food microflora. That is why, the main objective of this study was to use the microbial environment of foods to discriminate them according to their production mode. PCR-DGGE, a molecular tool of microbial ecology, could be used as to discriminate food production modes using bacterial and fungal rDNA profiles. The analysis of microbial genetic profiles of nectarines, peaches, bananas and apples showed that it was possible to differentiate fruits according to their farming types. It was possible to verify the robustness of our methodology by comparing results obtained on two successive harvest years. We estimated also the intra-plot variations and observed that organic apples could be discriminated from conventional ones independently upon their position in the field (centre or border) or even on the tree. The observed differences in microflora between organic and conventional apples were significant enough to conclude that the applied treatments have a significant impact on this microflore. Furthermore, the analysis of DNA sequences obtained from PCR-DGGE and NGS allowed some microbial groups (fungal and bacterial) to be identified as specific to organic foods. However, the “terroir effect” is an important criterion to take into account for the implementation of an authentication tool for organic products. So, an application in the field would be difficult to predict if it is plot-specific. This study constitutes the basis for the development of an analytical tool that could meet the needs of food industry professionals in terms of authenticity and food safety, especially to assist certifying bodies to control and authenticate organic food products. This study enabled also to enrich the existing knowledge on the microbial ecosystem of fruits from different agricultural practices.

I will find you... But will I influence you? : A quantitative study on influencer endorsements impact on brand loyalty

Rokka, Evelina, Mattsson, Gustav, Vuorivirta, Kim January 2022 (has links)
Background: Brand loyalty is an essential asset for brands as it helps brands to build a strong brand. Therefore, brands invest a significant amount of money in their marketing efforts and strategies to create and maintain brand loyalty in an ever-competitive market. One of these strategies is social media marketing, or more precisely, influencer marketing. Before influencer marketing arose, as it is known today, brands used celebrity endorsements to market the brand. However, as influencer marketing increased in popularity for brand endorsements, celebrity endorsement became less sought after and can be considered equal in their characteristics due to their fame and well-known personality. Prior research has not investigated how influencer endorsement impacts brand loyalty, therefore, this thesis applied the concept of celebrity endorsement in the context of influencer marketing and thereby treated influencers as celebrities due to their similar characteristics. Purpose: The purpose of this research is to explain the impact of influencers endorsement on brand loyalty. Methodology: This study used a deductive and quantitative approach and had an explanatory purpose and a cross-sectional research design. This study also presented a new model including three hypotheses that assumed a positive impact of the characteristics of an influencer’s endorsement on brand loyalty. The data collection was done through a self-completion questionnaire distributed online, which resulted in 104 valid responses. Findings: The findings of this study is that all the hypotheses (H1, H2, H3) are found insignificant in the all model (Model 5). This is because the hypotheses were rejected since the significance level of the ANOVA-test showed that the model was not significant as the significance level was above the accepted level (p<0.05). Hence, no significant evidence can come from this study. Conclusion: The conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that no significant relationship was found between the concepts of authenticity, credibility, and trustworthiness on brand loyalty, and based on these variables, influencer endorsements do not have an impact on brand loyalty.

FROM NEEDS ASSESSMENT TO PROGRAM EVALUATION: USING CONTENT ANALYSIS AND SURVEYS TO EVALUATE CONSUMERS’ FOOD SAFETY KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES, AND BEHAVIORS

Juan Carlos Archila Godinez (12890555) 21 June 2022 (has links)

Food safety educators and specialists are committed to closing the food safety education gap among different actors in the supply chain, from farm to fork. To accomplish it, they have to understand the needs of the target population to disseminate information and develop interventions. This thesis is divided into three case studies to explore needs assessments (Ch. 1 and 2) and program evaluation (Ch. 3). The first needs assessment (Ch.1) was developed due to a recent multistate outbreak linked to dried wood ear mushrooms. This study evaluated YouTube video content on the preparation of different wood ear mushrooms dishes and investigated the food safety risk associated with the handling practices. Practices such as rehydration procedures were identified as key food safety risk factors that need future exploration. The second needs assessment (Ch.2) was developed due to the impact of small- and medium-sized farms on USA agriculture. This study aimed to understand consumers’ perceptions and expectations of produce from small- and medium-sized farms and their desire to pay a premium price for food safety information. The findings showed that consumers perceived the produce from these farms to be fresher and of higher quality. Also, they considered food safety as a minimum quality standard and valued produce safety information. Finally, multiple needs assessments have shown that low-income populations, including minority groups, have unique barriers to adopting food safety practices. The third study (Ch.3) evaluated a dialogue-based virtual food safety program for English- and Spanish-speaking low-income populations using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Findings suggest that the TPB helped to discern the behavior change intentions of this population and showed that the intervention was able to increase participants’ knowledge, attitudes toward the behavior, perceived behavioral control (PBC), subjective norms, and behavior change intentions. Future work could modify the program to fit other minority populations in the USA.

The Complexity of Authentic Leadership : An interdisciplinary study with mixed methods about the relationship between gender and authentic leadership

Söderlund, Anna, Wennerholm, Josefine January 2021 (has links)
Authenticity is a philosophical and psychological concept with origin in Greek philosophy that means being true to oneself. The twenty-first-century corporations' increased complexity and multiple cooperate scandals have created a demand for application of the concept of authenticity into leadership – resulting in the concept of authentic leadership. Authentic leadership is something leaders should strive for since it shows to have a significant impact on work engagement, team effectiveness, financial performance, and work satisfaction, to name a few. Due to the many advantages of authentic leadership, multiple measurement tools have been created to identify and measure the authenticity in leaders. The idea of authentic leadership to be a measurable concept has received criticism and acknowledgment within the research field. Even though research states that authentic leadership is gendered, there is no consideration of gender in the existing measurement tools for authentic leadership. Men and women meet different conditions in life, careers, and as leaders, and due to the long history of male leaders, the norm of leadership builds on the male gender. The purpose of this study is three folded: Firstly, the study aims to understand how authenticity in leaders can be identified. Secondly, the circumstances that affect authentic leadership development will be explored. And lastly, the relationship between gender and authentic leadership development will be investigated. To fulfill the purpose, mixed methods have been applied. Six qualitative interviews chosen with theoretical and snowball sampling have been performed. Based on the learnings from the literature review and interviews, a quantitative questionnaire has been sent out to 327 persons. The study's findings show that identifying authenticity can be accomplished by different approaches: Questionnaire, in-depth interviews, and through a feeling. The circumstances that affect authentic leadership development are dependent on the formations of the factors and a person's level of self-awareness. Lastly, authentic leadership is challenging for both men and women since the male prototype of leaders can hinder both genders.

Is That Really You, Sherlock Holmes? : A Corpus Stylistic and Comparative Literary Analysis Investigating the Survival of the Authentic Holmes in Contemporary Pastiches

Silfver, Amanda January 2021 (has links)
This thesis has conducted an extensive character analysis of Sherlock Holmes by comparing the original, authentic detective, as he appears in a corpus consisting of Conan Doyle’s collected works about Holmes, to the characterisation in three select period pastiches. The aim was to analyse to what extent the true characterisation of the famous sleuth has survived in contemporary adaptations, more specifically in the three texts, Sherlock Vs. Dracula (1976), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Holmes (1979) and Sherlock Holmes and the Angel of the Opera (1994), where the detective encounters equally well-known fictional characters. The novel approach of combining corpus stylistic quantitative methods of characterisation with a qualitative literary approach of identifying similar stylistic and narratological features of characterisation efficiently facilitated an illustration on how Conan Doyle’s round and complex character has endured through adaptations and reimaginings. The corpus investigation on the Sherlock Conan Doyle Corpus supplied an encompassing image of the character, and revealed characteristics absent from the inherent cultural perception. The subsequent cross-comparison between the original in contrast to contemporary characterisations presented clear deviations to the character and further demonstrated a tendency to exaggerate select, generic features that complement the narrative and plot of the integrated novels. Overall, this study concludes that Sherlock Holmes remains the character who travels over time and genres, albeit with a reduced complexity as the respective characterisations in each of the pastiches to various degrees have modified core characteristics significant to the mind-modelling process. That is, through the process of adaptational alterations, the detective has become a flat character. Enough features persist for him to be recognisable and compelling, yet Sherlock Holmes in his entirety subsists merely as a caricature of his original self.

Motivation i skrivundervisningen : Hur sju lärare i årskurs F-3 uppfattar och använder sig av motivation och autenticitet i skrivundervisningen / Motivation in writing teaching : How seven teachers in preschool class and primary schools’ grades 1-3 perceive and uses motivation and authenticity in their writing teaching

Perkola, Hillevi, Andersson, Sofia January 2021 (has links)
The writing education in primary schools’ lower years is the starting point for pupils’ future writing development. Teachers for pupils in primary school, in preschool class and grades 1-3, therefore have an important role to generate motivation to write for pupils in their writing development, as this lays the foundation for their motivation to write further on in their future education and lives. Problems have been identified by researchers that poor motivation in writing teaching can lead to consequences where pupils do not develop their writing further on in their upcoming education and lives. Previous research has also found that there is a close connection between motivation and learning as well as motivation and writing development. This declaration is supported by theories about motivation, pupils’ self-confidence in writing, explicit writing teaching as well as didactic and sociocultural theories. The purpose of this study is therefore to discuss how teachers in preschool class and the grades 1-3 work to generate pupils’ motivation in the teachers’ writing teaching. The purpose of this study is also to discuss how the teachers use of authentic writing tasks influence on their pupils' writing development. The outcoming results of this study have emerged through qualitative interviews where the interview answers have been analyzed in association to the presented theories above. The analyzed results have been discussed in relation to previous research which led us to a suitable conclusion that shows that the teachers in this study work in various ways, using different teaching methods where using authentic activities is one of those, to stimulate the pupils’ motivation in their writing development. The results of this study also show that the teachers’ use of authentic writing tasks have a positive influence on their pupils’ writing development.

Arkivkonstperspektiv på digitalisering av arkiv : En fallstudie av Thielska Galleriets digitaliseringsprojekt för arkiv och konstsamling

Sandström, Kajsa January 2020 (has links)
Since the turn of the millennium an extensive digitalisation of the European cultural heritage has been underway. The aim is to make the common cultural heritage accessible to everyone and promote developments in education, tourism and the creative industry, among others. Historically, archival documents and works of art have been closely related as archival documents has served as a proof of an artworks history and autheticity, its’ provinance. Since the turn of the millennium the archive has become a recurring theme in contemporary art. Informed by post structuralist theories of the archive as both a material place and a structure for power and history. In this paper the relation between archival documents and artworks are being examined. By studying the digitalisation project of Thielska Galleriet in Stockholm the aim is to answer how documents of Richard Bergh’s letter archive, preserved at Thielska Galleriet, are being affected when made digitally available together with the museum’s art collection. The study is framed by the archive science theory the accessparadigm. Occuring at the turn of the 21st century the paradigm correlated with the change from paper to digital information storage, changing the focus of the archive from custody to access. The analysis is taking an interdisciplinary approach in relation to the concepts provenance and authenticity, established in both archive science and art history and is further framed by the art historical dissertation The Archive Art Phenomenon: History and Critique at the turn of the Twenty-First Century by Sarah Callahan (Stockholm University 2018). The case study shows that the relation between archival documents and artworks at Thielska Galleriet has been blurred in different ways historically. Though faithful to concepts of provenance and authenticity, the digitalisation project faced some challenges regarding how the status of some archival documents changed when registered in correlation with the art collection in the database. Seen through the lens of the Archive Art Phenomenon, archival documents might be considered artworks if they are conceptualised as such. Access to the digitalised archives and art collection of Thielska Galleriet opens up for considering the archival documents in new ways. The use of Richard Berghs letter archive in artistic work and processes is one such potential.

From Shaky Self-Held Cameras to Professional Camera Teams -A Thematic Analysis of How YouTube Audiences Perceive the Professionalization of Vlog Production Styles

Dalmer, Nathalia January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to provide insight into how YouTube audiences perceive the professionalization of vlog production styles and what happens to the parasocial relationship between viewer and vlogger, especially in relation to authenticity, in relation to this. This is done by a thematic analysis of comments on Valeria Lipovetsky’s YouTube video “We Need To Talk”, which serves as a case study. The analysis is done in background to theories of professionalization of influencers, parasocial relationships and authenticity. The results show that there is a tension between the perceived authenticity of the vlogger and the professionalization of vlog production style that is affecting the parasocial relationship between viewer and vlogger negatively. The distinguished themes point to vlogs filmed by a camera team being perceived to resemble reality television which is making the viewers feel disconnected with the vlogger. It is revealed that the audience prefers vlogs where the vlogger is holding the camera themselves, asthat is perceived as more personal and authentic.
